The room was lovely--spacious and very clean. Our host, Marta, was very helpful and gave us many tips. It was a little too warm in the room a couple of nights, but the fans helped. I would highly recommend this B & B. It was very suitable given the price.

would not stay here agin. too far out of florence, had to get taxi some of way which was annoying. they only accept cash. room up heaps of flights of stairs and was a bit daggy, plus our room was in the attic so roof was on angle and you could hardly stand up straight. gross bed. breakfast was so disgusting we didn't even eat anything which was bloody annoying, gross stale bread. was sort of like a big old house. it had a beautiful garden and hosted a wedding when we were there, so we got back that night and the reception was still going obviously (sat night) and was so noisy we couldn't get to sleep. we had no idea they even did weddings. we didn't like staying here at all, stayed in much, much better places on our holiday.

The only reason that price/quality is not a 10 is because this is Venezia, where nearly everything is pricey. We really enjoyed our stay at Art Academy.

Location is excellent , the relationship between price and quality is unbeatable. The service is good and we had a room with views to the canal. The weakest point is that in the breakfast everything is sweet , I mean there is not cheese or sausage for example. A part from that this place is highly recomendable.

We were pretty disappointed by the quality of the rooms. Room's style is too old-fashioned and the one we had doesn't look like the one on the picture. I guess that all rooms are not equal. Above all there's no airconditionning and the neighboorhood is a bit noisy in the night. So in summer, it's specialy disturbing. I'm bothered because, the guest was really kind and we were well welcomed. Just notice that the breakfast is a really good one with the best bread we've eaten in italy and the view is beautiful.

Not the best introduction to Venice. The directions to this B&B were terrible. We spent 1/2 hr searching for it, and none of the locals recognized the name of the street or the hotel. We got there around 9:30pm and nobody was there to let us in. We called the cell phone of the owner and couldn't reach anyone. Around 10:30 we finally got a hold of her and she let us in. Once inside, things got better. The owner is kind and she helped us plan some interesting things to do during our stay. The terrace where breakfast is served is nice and the view is pretty. Breakfast was the best part of the stay. The room was clean, but I wouldn't call it spectacular. We shared a bathroom with one other room, which we knew ahead of time. That went ok. Overall, I'd say our stay was mediocre, but this definitely isn't the best value for the money. When we couldn't get into our room, we checked the prices and availability of a nearby 3-star hotel. It was 20 Euro per night cheaper, looked much nicer, had a 24 hr lobby and they had rooms available. Wish we had stayed there...

Considering Venice is expensive for accomodation, I could recommend this B&B. It is an old building, and there isn't a lift to help you to the 1st or 2nd floor with your luggage, but the comfortable beds, great breakfast and view of the canal, make this one at Euro 195 per double, a good choice. The waterbus station is basically right outside your door, and there is an Art Academy right at your door. We we not able to view it as it was under refurbishment. Just make sure you have enough room left in your suitcase, as you surely will want to bring home one of the magnificent masks that Venice has to offer. Dont buy the first one you see, as the further you walk, the better they get. The markets at the Rialto Bridge have masks for around Euro 29, they aren't too bad, but the real gems will cost from around Euro 80+ Overall, we loved Venice and we would return to this B&B if we ever went back to Venice. Not en-suite not great and after four days we got a bit fed up with just bread rolls and jam for breakfast,a bit of meat and cheese would have not gone amiss. But saying that, the place was clean plenty of fresh towels and access to the water taxi could not have been nearer and best of all the price was great for Venice

We read a lot of conflicting reports about the Acadamia B&B but our impression could not be better. The accommodation is very simple to find, step of the Vaporetto at Acadamia and turn right, right again at the first cafe and then right again just past an art shop (left) and gift shop (right), big iron gates are the frontage. The landlady was very welcoming and has a good command of English. Our room was fabulous and even having to share a bathroom was really no difficulty at all. Breakfast was continental but more than enough, we didn't need lunch 'til mid afternoon. Our early morning alarm, as our room was right next to the dining room, was classical music - a pleasant way to start the day. At the end of the stay we had the opportunity to pay by either cash or visa and we were able to leave our luggage at the B&B until we were ready to go to the airport. All in all, we have absolutely not hesitation in recommending Acadamia as a first class base in Venice.

we have recently returned from Venice and had 4 nights at the art academy B&B. We didn't arrive until 10.30pm and the welcome wasn't great. I got the impression that we had kept her waiting and she hurridly told us about the keys and then practically run off!! The bridge and also the art acedmy was undergoing some construction work so the views of the bridge were completely runined and breakfast on the balcony was slightly noisy with all the building work. The room itself was great but make sure you don't end up staying in the room by the breakfast room as I can imagine you get woken early. No air con though and we were struggling a little at night with the heat so it would be much worse in the height of summer. BE WARNED, there is a nightclub just round the corner that's open till 4am everynight which is really convenient if you want to go clubbing every night, but no so convenient if you want to get a good nights kip. It was very noisy until at least 3am and people leaving the club tended to hang around just outside the window of our room. Very annoying. Breakfast was fine, just your bog standard continental with slightly stale bread!! One thing that we found confusing was that it was not clear who all the staff were, or whether they were the owners? We met 3 different people, none of which told us who they were so we politely said Ciao all the time to everyone!! Best thing about the hotel (when the construction work has finished!) is the location, great position to visit everything and walk everywhere. The liveliest square campo santa margherita (beer also quite cheap here compared to everywhere else) is about a 5 min walk. All in all not a bad B&B but next time I think we will try and find a place that is a bit more tucked away.

This B&B represented good value for money in Venice at Carnivale. Breakfast was served in a delightful room overlooking Accademia and the roof terrace. Breakfast was standard and the service good. Art Accademia is ideally situated for exploring both the better known parts of the city as well as the lesser trodden areas. Excellent Taverna just around the corner, and no shortage of squares to relax with a coffee or ice cream and watch the world go by. The staff were friendly, very honest and helpful. We left luggage there after checkout. If there was a downside, it was street noise when the nearby disco closed in the small hours. The disco itself could not be heard. We would use this B&B again.

We got the last free room, for which we had to cross the hall to go the the bathroom and toilets. The trouble was, this room, like one other, is beside the breakfast room, so we were woken up every morning at 8. Apart from that, the b&b is well located, and rooms are charming.

Disappointing, would not stay here again, would pay more to stay elsewhere. Shared bath had the handle taken off the shower, so you could only take a SHARED BATH literally--had to wash my hair laying down backwards under the bath spigit, after someone else had already used. More of a problem than expected for shared bath...had to go to next floor in middle of the night when shared bath was occupied. Also noisy--had windows open (even end of Oct--it was hot) and nearby bar had folks walking by all night. More spartan and not as clean as expected. Would not recommend and would not stay again...main good thing was location as close to Accademia vaporetta stop and didn't have to cross any bridges to get to it.

B&B Art Academy is simple, cheap (for Venice) and on an excellent location! The area Dorsoduro isn't crowded with tourists, but when you cross the bridge at the canal Grande you are in 5 minutes on San Marco. With the Vaporetto, also around the corner, you can go everywhere.

My wife and I were delighted with the Art Academy B & B. The location was terrific. We were right across from the Art Academy Gallery and close to fascinating squares and canals in the heart of Venice. San Marco square was a comfortable walk away. We loved the terrace - ideal for their lovely continental breakfasts and also perfect for our locally-bought wine and cheese in the afternoon. The view from the terrace of the canal, Academia Bridge and buildings was great. The room was big and clean. All-in-all, we were fortunate to find the B & B and thoroughly enjoyed it. We hope to return to Venice some day.

A lovely place to stay although a bit difficult to find once we arrived. It was very clean and comfortable and so relaxing to come back to after a long day sight seeing, at the same time it was in the middle of everything, we could see the Grand Canal from our window. Very lovely and classically romantic, in total keeping with such an old and beautiful city. I would definately return to the same place if visiting Venice again. Reccomended.

We really enjoyed staying here. It's centrally located and has great views from the balcony. We loved having breakfast on the balcony and took our wine out in the evening too. We found the hosts very welcoming in spite of the language barrier (our fault for not knowing Italian I think). However, not being able to pay by credit card was EXTREMELY inconvenient and caused a last minute panic. Also the breakfast was not great - croissants were fine, but the yoghurts are long life and there is only jam, no cheese. Having said this we would stay here again.

We had a fantastic weekend at the Art Academy! There are not many rooms (4 at the 3rd floor and about 2(?) at the 2nd floor) in an old building right next to the Accademia bridge. The room we had was really big, with a fantastic view onto the bridge. The bed was very comfortable and once the windows were closed it was absolutely quite inside. There are two bathrooms (towels were provided) which are very clean and a beautiful terasse on which breakfast is served. Breakfast included fresh Coffee/Cappucino/Tea, orange juice, fresh croissants and bred, jam, yogurt, cornflakes. All the interesting points in Venice are just a few steps away. The ladies who run the hostel are very friendly. The only bad surprise was that no credit cards were accepted (on venere.com it was said they would). However, this is not a problem as long as you know it in advance so you could bring enough cash. The house is a little bit difficult to find. As you arrive with the vaporetto turn right. There is a little bar/cafe on the corner where you have to go right. Follow the narrow street to the end (maybe 20 m), then you will see a gate to your right hand where you have to ring a bell.

The Bed and Breakfast Art Academy was situated in an area slighly away from the summer crowds around St Marks, which we considered to be a real positive. It was also easily found from the ferry stop without having to lug heavy bags over bridges and up stairs. It is only a short walk over the bridge to join the hordes at St Marks if that is what you are interested in. The share bathroom that we shared with one other room, which made the price cheaper, was immaculate, and we appreciated the lower cost with very little inconvenience. The only discomfort was the lack of air conditioning, which can be a problem in the middle of summer, and meant that we needed to keep the windows open, which became noisy when the ferry came in and people walked past in the middle of the night. I would definitely recommend this accommodation, particularly when the weather is not too hot. Excellent value for a very large and comfortable room.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Barbara was wonderful and so helpful in getting us dinner reservations and looking up train schedules. I didn't have a plug adapter so she let me borrow her hair dryer! The room was very spacious with a view of the canal and with a nice large bathroom. No A/C but we had 2 fans in our room so it was fine being there in July. It is hard to find the first time, but we called and she came out to the street to find us. Just get off the boat and turn right down a narrow alley and you're there! Loved it!!!

We stayed three nights; the rooms and the service were marvellous - breakfast on a terrace just above Canal Grande! - and the employees very friendly and helpful (if they really speak five languages - I only heard them speak in two of them: English and Italian); unfortunately we had bad luck and got a room upon the street - and, yes, it was noisy at night and we had to close the windows all night long! But we did enjoy our vacation and I think we´ll be back some day!

Very hard to find, it's in a little alley, behind a gate, with a very small sign. Also, get there early in the day, the women who run the place aren't there after 7pm, and you'll have to call thier cell phone to check in. Also, only one of the hosts speaks english, only a bit, but the other one speaks none. Cute rooms, and pretty good location, it's right around the corner from the vaparetto stop.

This hotel is located next to a water bus stop. So easy to reach. Very clean and spaciuos rooms. Martha (lady who works there) is very helpful and nice lady. Only problem is, you may not find person at the front desk at all times. Needs to be prepared fof that. Overall very good experience.

This was a lovely place to stay, the owners were extremely welcoming, charming and helpful. Knowledge of some Italian is useful. Nothing was too much trouble, the room and shared bathroom were spotless at all times. The b+b is very well placed, just by the Accademia bridge, which does mean that the street is quite busy but if you close the shutters and windows, you won't be disturbed. The rooms have elegant proportions and the breakfast room in particular is gorgeous. Breakfast was plentiful and available from 8.30 to a relaxed 10.30am. Recommended.

We stayed in March 2006. The location was excellent, and the accomodations were satisfactory. It was a bit difficult as we were hoping for a more welcoming reception from our host, and a little more guidance. Please note that rooms can be a bit noisy if they are facing the street (as ours was), but we're young so it did not terribly affect us. The price made up for this and we were satisfied with our stay.

Great location, huge and charming room, everything very clean and a nice host. We arrived in the middle of the night after our plane was late, had trouble finding the place, but were still welcomed with a smile. Will definitely go back when in Venice.

The place was lovely and very clean. Only trouble we had was finding it in the first place! The number is on the gate but no place name - just ring the bell and the host comes to get you. It is literally next to the Accademia vaporetto stop (and Galleria del Accademia) which makes it very convenient. Also, walking distance from most main places. Maria and Barbara (hosts) were so kind and helpful. Limited English but enough to get by! The double room we had was huge and very elegant. Shared bathroom always spotlessly clean with decent size shower etc. Breakfast was good with plenty of pastries and cereal/yoghurt, tea, coffee, juice. You get your own set of keys for duration of your stay so come and go as you like. Very good value for money. Only down side was the noise - our room overlooked a busy pathway so sound of voices but shutters blocked most of it out. It was definately my favourite place I stayed on my recent tour of 5 Italian cities and I am even planning to take my parents there in the near future so it must be good!

It is a very charming B & B, with a very charming host. The room was very clean and warm, which was much-needed as it snowed and rained our whole stay. It is a beautiful city, and this place is very near the University area. If you don't mind a fifteen minute walk you can get to any of the main Islands most popular attractions quite easily. Breakfast was lovely, with a lot of personal attention. We liked the B & B so much, instead of going out to dinner the second night, we got a pizza and a botle of wine and went back to our room to play checkers on the checkers table in our room! Truly well-reccommended.

Luca was not exactly the "warm" host that he was reported to be, however he was courteous and helpful. I attributed it to a mood he was in. The rooms are not as large as they appear in the photos, and the common rooms are not at all as elegant as they appeared, BUT and this is strong, we did stay for 70 euro and this was a tremendous deal in Venice. Also, the breakfast was in a nice room and Luca served it himself (it was not a buffet of bagged croissant, but real, hot croissant and rolls with the typical Italian morning coffee--not cappucino. Tea was also offered.) The view from our room would have been excellent, but they were remodelling the exterior of the Accademia, so unfortunately, it wasn't very nice. It is November however, and so that is when everyone over here does their renovations. The other window in the room just looked at another window across the narrow alley. Luca's directions were excellent. Use the vaporetto system (buy a 10 euro ticket and you can ride all you want for 24hrs. Otherwise it is 5 euro for 90 minutes.) There are some restaurants in the area, but Venice is quite expensive. We found a restaurant at the right price for us very close by.

We booked this as it was a bed and breakfast in Venice with a good rating on Venere. However, the stay was very disappointing. The shower did not work and there was no plug for the bathtub. When we mentioned it to the employee he did not seem to care. The rooms are very spacious, but there is NO TV. The floor boards were loose and our room was not cleaned once after we booked in. The worst was that there were fleas in the room. The location is very good though and its easy to find.

The B&B is gorgeously decorated and in a fantastic location. The only downside to our stay was that we were disturbed frequently by the people in the street below us who, because of the central location, walk noisily past until the early hours of the morning.

If we ever return to Venice, we will certainly be staying here. Exceptional value for money, extremely large rooms, and outstanding location - perfect for exploring Venice. The owner waited up for us without a grimace when we arrived a couple of hours late due to flight delays. Breakfast was fine and could be eaten on a balcony (not much of a view but catches the sun). Recommended.

We were delighted with this B & B in an excellent location with equally good views of the Accademia and the Grand Canal from the terrace and upper rooms. We would highly recommend it and definitely want to return. The weather was very hot and humid whie we were there. Fans were in every room and helped a little. The owner has been unable to get permission to install air conditioning units after trying for four years. It would be good to mention that you need to bring your own soap.

The hotel was below our expectations. The shower door almost feel off/no nob to pull the shower head. The entrance was a mess and dirty as if some construction were to take place. The owner did not answer the phone when we tried to call him upon arrival. The outside area was dirty. The location was excellent but I certainly would not recommend the Accademia at USD85.00 per night - too expensive for what is offered.

we stayed for 2 nights (me and one friend) at the end of june, and it was fantastic. we'd heard about the huge rooms and for us, it was definitely true. we had the room to the right of the reception desk and it had its own balcony and private bathroom. this room is noisy sometimes as it overlooks the main passageway to the b'n'b and there's a club nearby. also there's no view of the grand canal. the breakfast was fine and more than enough- croissant, bread rolls and biscotti type packets that you can help yourself to. coffee was ok. luca was nice, and when we turned up early and it was pouring he offered us an umbrella and had the rooms ready earlier than usual. a great stay and convenient for everything. venice really is walkable and we did just that.

Venezia is expensive. The Accademia B$B exceeded my expectations for value by a good bit. The location, of course, is excellent. Unless I get really rich, somehow, I don't need to consider any other place to stay in Venezia.

The description on the web site did not match with reality. Although clean, the room was basic with no tea/coffee making facilities or even glasses. Some of the fitments were in a poor state of repair. The breakfast was basic with Nescafe or equivalent coffee! No sign of the fresh fruit and cappuccino that was supposed to be always on offer. The level of service was poor again with no warm welcome and offer of assistance to make the stay more enjoyable. However the location is superb beside the Accademia bridge on the Grand Canal next to the vaporetto stop.

We stayed in the double without bathroom, and it was huge! The shared bathroom was always clean. The shutters kept out any noise from the street outside, and the B&B was in the best area for good value food and drink and nightime atmosphere - everywhere else seemed very dead. You get your own keys so there's no curfew, it's a beautiful building - the only downside was the breakfast, but that just left more room for icecream!
