In this B&B and in Italy in general, you have to pay a tax who are not anounced in the page on Venere. I don't like that way.

Very clean, good value for the area. The breakfast was beautifully presented, but really needs to be more than cookies and cold toast. Unfortunately, there was construction going on beside our room that was so loud we could not stay in the room during the day. This was NOT our host's fault, but it did affect our stay. My daughter and I were traveling on a tight budget, so it was a good value for Venice, which is very expensive.

Nice stay in a very large room, considering the low price. Shared bathroom was clean, adequate, and always available. The landlord was there to check me in, but after that, I never saw him during my four night stay. It was like having my own apartment in Venice, in a way. Breakfast was a little strange, even for Italy. A dozen store-bought cookies, some untoasted white bread, and Tang. Tell the landlord you won't need breakfast and go elsewhere if you need to eat in the morning.

The location, near the Rialto Bridge, is good. My room, on the second floor (there is a lift, but I did not use it), had a single bed, two small tables and chairs, an armoire, window that was open (no screens, but no bugs either), and a small floor fan was perfect for what I needed. The shared bathroom with shower was modern and clean. Noise from a nearby restaurant with outdoor seating quieted after 10:00PM. Internet access was free and strong. Breakfast, served in my bedroom, consisted juice, toast, cookies, some kind of pre-packaged sweet role, and coffee. I missed having a communal breakfast typical of B&Bs where you can chat with others about their activities. I highly recommend B&B San Paolo.

Great B&B - staff were very friendly, and happy to provide a breakfast tray in our room as we needed to leave early. Shared bathroom was a bit less convenient, but we had no issues with it. San Paolo is located away from the tourist centre, but was not difficult to travel to and fro either by ferry or walking.

I loved it so much here, I ran into the people who run the bed and breakfast on the street and they showed me around town. It was fantastic and they are some of the nicest people I\'ve met on all my travels. I would not only stay here again, but I would insist that anyone I know travelling to Venice stay here.

-Location in Venice is very good. -Staff is very correct and gentle. -They keep your baggage till you go if you need it. -You have to be conscient that it isn't an hotel or similar. It's a flat where you are renting a room and a shared bathroom. -The room was not completely cleaned before our arrival. -The room doesn't have opaque curtains or blinds to avoid solar light in the morning or to have a bit of intimity, wich was really unpleasant. -You cannot contact the owners at night (till 22h), although you have a button in the room to call them, and a bell at the reception desk. -Breakfast is sufficient but without options (you have a coffee, unlike you don't taste it, and staff don't offer you other possibilities). -Shared bath didn't had towel for hands for 2 days, and for feet in the shower for one day. -Price is too high.

The room was spacious, but sparingly furnished, and it's time for a new bed. A couple of hooks, especially for towels, would be great since the bathroom is shared. There was only one functioning power outlet, so I had to choose between keeping the fan on to stay cool or recharging my camera battery in the evenings. The idea of breakfast in the room is nice, but breakfast isn't that great. I'm not a coffee drinker yet got a cup of steaming black coffe every morning; some fruit or ham & cheese would have been nice. There is free wi-fi, but the connection is very bad. Convenient location within walking distance of the Ca d'Oro and N Fondamenta vaporetto stops. Plenty of places to eat nearby, and there's a grocery store about two blocks away, which is also very convenient. Great potential for small improvements that would make the experience so much nicer.

We were completely satisfied by our stay at the San Paolo B&B. A good room (even if the furnishings are a bit dated) in a quiet street perfectly located for discovering Venice. Near to Ca d'Oro waterbus stop and F. Neuva for boats to Murano, Burano & Torcello. Easy walking distance to all main sights whilst retaining a feel of a local neighbourhood; on the edge of the real tourist hustle but quiet in the evenings (July). The breakfast was good (coffee or hot chocolate, fruit juice, toast with butter & jam, biscuits and cakes) and delievered to our room at the requested time by Allan, a very nice, helpful host. The shared shower/WC was not a problem and plenty of hot water. Towels provided. Plenty of places to eat nearby plus a small Coop supermarket around the corner. We would stay here again without hesitation. Great value for money for central Venice. 9/10!

We found San Paolo difficult to find, although the owners had kindly sent us a map and directions, this wasn’t detailed enough to locate an unadvertised building nestled in a maze of narrow alley ways – so buy a good map of Venice before visiting in the city! Once arrived however we found the staff courteous and helpful and the neighbourhood clean and safe. A little English is spoken but this didn’t prevent our basic breakfast of coffee, juice an attempt at toast and packaged cakes (useful for snacks later in the day) arriving promptly at the requested time. Bathroom was shared and small but water hot and we never experienced a queue – may have been because there was only one other guest at the time of our visit?? There’s a really excellent Osteria nearby called La Bottega ai Promessi Sposi that we recommend and a coop not far away for water and other essentials.

Allan and Laura are consumate hosts. Their B&B in Venice's Cannaregio sestiere is fantastic. My trip to Venice was fantastic and their B&B was a large part of the reason. Welcoming, gracious and just generally great people, Allan and Laura were always ready to bring my breakfast in the morning. More than that, the quaint B&B's location and its living area are awesome. It really is in a perfect location with it being close to 5 minutes away from Rialto and 15-20 minutes to St. Mark's. I spent 23 days in Italy and my stay at San Paolo B&B was my absolute favourite.

The quietness of the rooms is not a fault of the owners but of the people on the streets below. Overall not bad after midnight or before 8am. But what would you expect of a second floor room. That's the beauty of Venice :) There really isn't a public area for guests to relax but the rooms are very spacious so not needed.

Allan and Laura were very welcoming and the breakfast abundant. It was like staying with distant relations in their extra rooms. The bathroom was very nice too, clean with touches of decoration. The location is superb, only a short walk to the Rialto, yet close enough to walk with your rolling bag to the train station, which I did. And do stop into the church right there, St. Apostoli to see the paintings.

Allan and Laura were very kind hosts and had a wonderful breakfast which they delivered to the room at the agreed upon time. The hotel is a five-minute walk from the Fondamente Nuove where you can catch the boat to the airport, and the same distance to Rialto bridge and that area. It might be a little difficult to find if you're not really familiar with the city but the directions that Laura and Allan give are very specific. The room was very clean, with a nice comforter, the bathroom was very clean, too, but everyone decided to take a shower at the same time - that was the only drawback to the stay.

Venice is expensive. So, to stay in the city center it costs a lot even for a shared bathroom, for example. This place had prime location; right next to the center of town but down far enough off the main roads (alleyways) that it was quiet and secluded. The facilities were a bit antiquated but still adequate. The room was spacious, the bathroom was clean and the breakfast was nice. The owner, Laura, was extremely friendly and spoke excellent english. The breakfast was mostly cookies and coffee/juice but was good. It was quite cold at night since there was a cold spell when we were there, but we were warm enough in bed. My only complaint is probably the smell in the bathroom. It was sort of a really-old-building smell rather than a bathroom smell but it was not pleasant. I would recommend this place though and I would stay again.

Good: fast communications, very friendly owners, great location. Bad: shared bathroom with a tiny shower that is in poor repair; breakfast consists of the cheapest items possible, very small, cup of coffee size of a shot glass; no A/C (it is very very hot in Italy in August); no phone in the room and if someone calls you at their business number, displeasure is expressed by the owners. Though the price is less then elsewhere in Venice, it is still too high for the accommodations offered. Feels like the owners are trying to save on everything to the point of being cheap.

We (36 + 39 yrs) came to visit the culture, architecture and history of Venice. Laura (landlady) and Lilly (responsible for service) are really nice people. The B&B is well located, the most important sights are nearby . Our room was spacious, very clean and well furnished. Outside the window we had a view to a garden with palm trees. The room was towards the bathroom and sometimes very noisy, when somebody was in it or locked the door. Outside it was quite calm (our room got street windows). We shut the blinds at night - for quietness and to keep the room warmly (it was cold at night and the heating wasn't powerful enough). The breakfast matched to our wishes (toasts with bacon and cheese, yoghurt, cakes, orangejuice, coffee and some crackers. (Laura will ask you if you're satisfied with this.) The bathroom was very clean and quite spacious. Only the shower could be a problem for taller people. At the washbasin you get only cold water (it could be a problem to men for shaving). At the shower you get hot water only after a few minutes. The towels were changed every day, but there was no possibility to dry the towels in our own room (you can't leave the towels at the bathroom because of the other guests). Laura is open-minded about suggestions to satisfy her guests and we come again to enjoy B&B Paolo at our next trip to Venice :-)

A great place to stay! Laura and Allan are very very friendly and helpful. The room was very good: good bed, small table and a coach. The room and the bathroom (shared) were very clean. A very good breakfast: good italian coffee, toast and two other things. At the New Year´s day I got a present: a good bottle of wine and sweets. The location is excellent! Thank you, Laura and Allan, for your very warm personality and for everything!

San Paolo was a very clean, quiet and comfortable place to stay. The owners are friendly and helpful, and they bring breakfast to the room each morning! The bathroom and shower are shared, but they were clean and well-maintained. This bed and breakfast was priced well-if you are looking for a basic, comfortable place to stay in Venice San Paolo is a great option.

Allen and Laura where WONDERFUL hosts. They were welcoming and helpful. The accomodations were clean and conveniently located. Just a few minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge, and S. Marks Square. I would stay here again. The only downside to the location is that it costs 6€ each way to take the waterbus to-from the train station. The alternative of dragging your luggage over the steps of mulitple canals is not an attractive alternative either. We opted to take the waterbus. Otherwise, wonderful people and place!! Thank you, Allen & Laura!!!

I loved it so much here, stayed in a single room which was larger than expected. This B&B is new and only has 3 bedrooms, but for a pleasant and quiet night this is a great place! I had my own room where they served the breakfast at my own table in the room. Fantastic location. Its also in a prime location in Venice-couldn't be easier to walk to all the main places. Just a five minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge, and we found it easy to walk to St Marks Square. Very clean, lovely decorations, smells fresh, overall my best experience traveling and one of the best bargains in Venice. I would not only stay here again, but I would insist that anyone I know travelling to Venice stay here. Owners very kind and helpful to hold our bags after checkout while we wondered the city for the day. Great choice! I was made really welcome by Allan and Laura. Thank you, Allan & Laura!

We were very satisfied, for the venecian prizes a very good bargain. Allan an Laura are very nice an helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast, was better than in some 3star-hotels in Italy. The B&B is not easy to find, at the moment there are no signs on the house, you have to look for the number and an the door clock for "Allen &Laura" Couple, mid 30

DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT , IT IS ONE OF THE WORST HOTELS I HAVE EVER BEEN . This B&B is SMALL, DIRTY , NOISY AND DIFFICULT TO FIND . To start with is just a flat in a block of other seven . It’s in a small back street and when you arrive to the number indicate in our booking there’s not any sigh saying that there’s a hotel there so we where very confuse at the end we have to call the hotel to find out that was one of the flats in that block. The B&B have only three rooms. We were amazed by the “eclectic” of the room. A mismatch of 60’s wall draw, a reproduction chest of draws infested with woodworm , a dirty 70’s sofa chair, a couple of very worn-out side table and some garden chair and table, which made the room look DARK AND OVERCROWDED, all that complemented with a HORRIBLE SMELL TO CIGARETTE SMOKE AND OLD FURNITURE. There is ONLY ONE BATHROOM/TOILET which in the morning and evenings get very busy , so not good if you are in a hurry to going out, or you are in a hurry to get into the loo, in occasions we have to wait more than one hour to get the chance to use it. It has a toilet, a sink and a very small mouldy shower, in fact the shower id so small the a large person would not fit in it. Towels are provided but bring your own ones as the are very small and they don’t change them. The bathroom is next to the rooms which can is a problem as you will wake up with the noise of people flashing the loo or having a shower. The room where we stayed was NOT PARTICULARLY CLEAN. We found rest of the previous inhabitants of the room in the bed and in the furniture. You have to leave the room by 9:30 am which is one of the earlier times I ever have to leave. All this is a pity as the owners are very friendly and the place has potential if they were bother to change a few things. BUT CERTAINLY NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.

My friend and I had a lovely stay at this B&B in Venice. Reasonably priced, large (twin bed) room, close (10+ minute walk) to the famous landmarks and clean! The owners were very nice and helpful, directing us where to find the boat to the airport and holding our luggage after we checked out to sightsee for the day. We were able to find the place without too much trouble - using the directions and a rough map. We walked from the main train station, which was fine with large backpacks, but might be rough with a lot of wheeled luggage. There is a water boat stop nearby also. Would recommend!

The owners were very friendly and helpful. We got a bit bored with the breakfast, all sweet things and carbs, but other guests told us they had requested some protein and yogurt, so we did too and the owners were glad to oblige. We had the largest of the three rooms, which was very spacious. The shared bathroom sometimes got a bit damp from the shower, which was small and not recommended for larger-sized people. We really enjoyed staying here. The location was great.

The room (3) was clean, tidy and comfortable. The shared bathroom was small and the shower was very small. Allan and Laura were friendly and helpful. As mentioned in other comments, make sure you know how to find the place before you leave home as the locals have no idea where it is.

Nice young couple running the place, very helpful. Nice welcome (wine, chocolate , water). Small, narrow room 2, bed not too comfy but ok. Place difficult to find, you need to remember the name of the couple, there is no hint to the name Paolo B&B and nobody around knows this place. Couple of little restaurants nearby, quite centrally located.

We were in Venice for vacation, and even though the airport lost our luggage our hosts were extremely helpful, provided toothbrush/past, and directions to super store outside of venice where we could buy necessities. Regularly offered the service of their phone for us to call the airport, offered to translate for us in our communications with the airport, they were so wonderful! And when we left at 5am Laura prepared breakfast for us the night before even including coffee in a thermos so that it would be warm in the morning. They exceeded our expectations. The location was in walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go and the accomadations where clean and comfortable. Thank you Allen and Laura!

San Paolo is a nice little Bed&Breakfast where breakfast is even served in the bedroom! It's clean, friendly and cheap. So, except if one looks for a luxurious bedroom, it is definitly the place to stay. Moreover the location is perfect: in the city center, but away from the tourist streets. I wish Laura and Allan, the owners of this newly open B&B, a lot of success in the future! It was a real pleasure to stay at San Paolo :-)

We stayed in a charming room with period furniture and decorations, even cute little carnival masks. Not much of a view, but in Venice the views are hard to come by anyway - walking around is the real reason to visit. Staff was fantastic - a young Italian woman and her Brazilian husband, both very friendly and helpful.

We stayed at San Paolo for 3 days alongwith my family. Allan and Laura, the owners of B&B were very friendly, helping and welcoming. The rooms were spacious, clean and decorated with antique furniture. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The B&B is in the center of Venice and one can visit all places even by foot. The Vaporetto stop is just 5 minutes walk. Overall the stay was very comfortable and I will go there again if I go to Venice.
