Very nice place with an outstanding location. My only reason for not giving across the board high rankings was the noise factor outside the room. Our room overlooked a small courtyard with a patio restaurant, and the noise from the constant traffic and restaurant guests filtered up to our room late into the evening, and also in the morning as the restaurant set up tables and chairs for the day. If not for that, I would definitely stay here again. For some who are not as disturbed by outside noise, it could be considered part of the ambience.

At first(From outside) it does not seem as shown in picture. Room was small but very convenient and simply and nicely well furnished. Host Lucca and his wife are really nice. Room was very clean, and breakfast was good as Lucca asks if we would like anything special. It is a good location--easy walk to everywhere but just away from the crowds. Lucca is also very helpful in directions, he even walked us to bus/boat stop. We would recommend.

I travelled with a girl friend and we had a bit of difficulty following the instructions from the train station to the B&B but finally made it after asking around. The room was small and quite noisey at night with the open courtyard below, but it was all part of the lovely Venetian ambiance. If you want a quiet sleep - you would need earplugs. The owners and staff we found to be very helpful in providing suggestions for things to do and also in accommodating our needs during our stay. The food was very good and it was nice to grab a night cap there after our busy day walking around and shopping - we had two meals there in our 2 day stay. It was situated a 5 minute walk from the Rialto bridge so very close to everything - but you should beware you keep your luggage to a minumum as there are many stairs from the boats, to bridges to hotel steps (no elevator). We really enjoyed the Mercato Peche ( the big open fish market) that the locals go to as well for an amazing selection of seafood.

Room was small but very convenient and well furnished. We loved being above the restaurant as Lucca's food is very good and he and his staff look after you really well. It is a good location--easy walk to everywhere but just away from the crowds. Room was quiet with the windows closed but if one wanted to watch people that was good also.

A quaint B&B located within a 10 minute walk to St. Mark's square and 5 minutes from the Rialto bridge. The provided breakfast was excellent! Suggest getting turn by turn directions before arriving or you'll have difficulty finding it...or find a luggage porter at the Rialto bridge to take you there (the best 10 Euro investment we made in Italy!).

We were late getting to Venice but had a sign to call Simone (along with another reservation that we met while waiting in the rain for the colleague of Simone to open the doors) The other reservation had already called 30 minutes prior to us getting there, but we all had to wait another hour before someone was available to open the rooms. The other guests had lost their luggage and missed a connecting flight so were unable to change their arrangements. The stairs to the B&B were very dirty and smelly. Our room was also smelly. They had put a piece of panelling over what looked like a section of mildew.

Nice place to reach by foot or public transport venice's highlights. Reasonable price, breakfast typical italian (very simple). Friendly and competent staff. Very good menu options at the restaurant, good wines, fresh fish, meat, vegetables and the likes. It might get overcrowded by local youngsters on friday and saturday evening though, so don't expect a quite and romantic atmosphere for having dinner.

Great location, tricky to find at first. Right in the heart of Cannaregio and just around the corner from the Rialto Bridge. Breakfast was not great but ok. Room and bathroom a good size. some rooms overlook a restuarant square so can be a bit noisy later at night if you head to bed before 11.

I stayed in a quaint room that was very clean and quiet. There is no tea pot or small amenities. It is pretty bare bones but i didn't spent much time there. It is an outstanding value for the budget traveler. I am a 62 yr old woman and was traveling alone. It is a very secure place with a locked gate and locked entrance. They were very helpful with luggage and any questions. The location is outstanding being near the Rialto bridge, shopping, restaurants ect.

I like the location of this hotel near Rialto bridge. It's not too crowd and pretty quiet at night time. In average, hotels in Venice are quite expensive. If you look for a nice & clean B&B, I would recommend this place to you. Only problem I met in this hotel is hot shower. Sometimes hot, sometimes cold...

The staff are very friendly helpful and non invasive. The food at the adjascent restaurant Barababao was fatastic value for money, good portion sizes particularly for expensive Venice and they offer a wheat free pasta, quite a rarity in Venice. Very central, this does comes with the outside noise at all hours associated with being in a very busy location. There was a safe in the spacious room which was included in the price and also a fridge, which was great for keeping water etc. Breakfast was croissants, rolls and preserves and lovely coffee. Very nice place, great value for money, great location. My husband and I were very impressed with the B&B and restaurant.

I would definitely recommend this B&B. The location is brilliant (10 minutes away from the Rialto adn just off a main busy street so in a rather quiet corner) and the staff very welcoming and nice. The room was not big but it did not matter at all because we were there only to sleep or rest. Their restaurant was very good and offered very creative Italian dishes at decent prices compared to the more tourity places where food is over-priced and under average in terms of quality and taste.

I'm not sure whether I should recommend B&B Barababao to others or not... because I want to have a chance to book a room from there also sometime in the future. :) The location is absolutely great for a visitor who wants to look and walk around Venice for a few days. A nice little B&B just a few hops from Rialto bridge, at a nice quite corner, in the middle of everything. We enjoyed our visit at B&B Barababao 100+%, and would go back there any time. (The breakfast could perhaps have been a bit bigger, but that's minor details.) Sunny greetings to the great B&B Barababao staff from Finland!

Excellent location and scenic walk from the train station. They met us as we were looking for the business address, which was a relief since the town is a maze of winding alleys. The room was small but clean and attractive with a window looking out into a quiet vine covered courtyard. With the shutters closed it was so dark and quiet that we slept late and missed breakfast the first day! The only 2 problems we had were poor internet connection in our room and competition with the kitchen for hot water the first night. Other than that it was great, especially the location!

We had a double room with extra bed. It costs 120 Euro (October 2010). The room was OK. Breakfast was included in the price (juice, round roll, butter, jam, croissant, coffee and yoghurt), served downstairs in the restaurant. The good thing is that the staff stored our luggage free of charge after until the evening after checked out, so we could do more sightseeing before leaving without carrying the bags. (Just ask them). There is no reception; all stuff dealt in the restaurant.

The room we had was excellent. It was spacious and modern. We had a couple of problems with the TV and safe and the staff quickly came up and sorted them out. The only thing that was not up to our expectation was our initial welcome. We had arrived early and dropped our cases off at Barababao's. When we came back to get into our room the staff were rather busy in the restaurant and didn't seem to take much interest in helping us. However, this was better interaction than most of our encounters with the people of Venice. From the shop keepers to the vaperetto crew; from the info centre staff to the waiters, we found the people of Venice the most surly, miserable, unhelpful we have encountered in many years of travel. Everything seemed too much trouble. The only smiling faces we encountered were a baker and his wife in one of the streets far from the tourist haunts. This was not just our opinion, most tourists we spoke to had the same experience. Our only other comment was that the decor in the Barababao restaurant ws not to our taste and therefore we didn't eat there apart from our breakfast which was included. However, Venice is a beautiful city and Barababao is one of the better places to stay.

My room was exactly as portrayed in one of the photos on the web site. So full marks for that as sometimes hotel rooms are nothing like what is portrayed. Unfortunately during my 3 night stay the attached restaurant was closed except for breakfasts and the person there spoke basic English only. There were plenty of other good restaurants in the vicinity so no real problem. Overall a good size room and bathroom in an excellent location. Some noise from the nearby restaurants but all finished by about 10.30pm and not that audible with the windows closed and the air conditioning on. I would happily stay there again.

The Barababao B&B is on top of the Barababao Restaurant. It is located in the heart of Venice about a 10 min. walking distance to the San Marcos Piazza. The location is great, but the b&b was a disappointment compared to other B&B's that we had experience elsewhere in Italy. Also, because the restaurant waiters are your hosts they do not take the time to give you a proper welcome, and/or provide you with maps of the city like all the other B&Bs did. Rather they hand you the keys and ask you to check-in later when they are not too busy. The rooms have NO air conditioning and because there is a restaurant below it is extremely noisy all night long, and the mosquitos are out of control. My 2 year old daughter woke up with bites all over her face. We happened to go to Venize in April so it was not too hot, but it would have been definetely horrendous during the summer. There is also no hair dryer, but rather a vacumm-style dryer (that does not dry) so bring your own.

Great little B&B. They provide breakfast in the restaurant and the rooms were very nice. Bathrooms are modern and include everything you could want.

It is a small property in the centre of Venice. The rooms are clean and nice, with your private bath. The service is very kind. We consider it the rigth election for those who look for a reasonable price and an excellent situation.

Our room over looked a public access courtyard with restaurants. Consequently, it was very noisy at night whilst people were eating and socialising in the outside areas. But this would not stop me from staying there again. All part of the Venice experience.

We were very pleased by the location, the staff, and the quality of the rooms. Although some may find the evening sound from the "street" and restaurants below and outside the rooms a little disturbing, to us it just added to the atmosphere. Eventually, all quieted down and we enjoyed a contented sleep as Barababao is located in a relatively quiet section of Venice even though it is relatively near the Grande Canal. All staff members, who worked in the restaurant and came in to clean the rooms daily, were most amiable and helpful. We would stay again in an instance. In fact, Barababao would be one of the reasons for us to return to Venice.

My father and I travelled around Italy for a week and Venice was our favourite place. B&B Barababao was an excellent place to stay, rooms were very comfortable and the location is superb - walking distance to everything. The food & wine in the restaurant was also fantastic. We highly recommend this place!

The directions to the hotel need to be re-written by someone who understands english. For example we were told to "turn right ON the bridge" instead of 'AT' the bridge. We thought that we had to go over the bridge and lugged our luggage up and down the steps only to have to do it again when we realised our mistake. We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel which is perfectly situated for adventuring through laneways and along the canal. Simone was an excellent host. The only down side was the noise from an adjoining restaurant kept us awake one night.

We went for vacation. It's a great place to stay. Super price for Venice. Just one minute to Rialto. 5 minutes to St Mark's square. If i go to Venice again, the place where i will stay is ready!

The double room was very small although the bathroom was an adequate size. There were no extra offerings in the room and one would not stay at this hotel if relaxing in the room was a requirement. The breakfast was typical italian breakfast although the quantity of the food offered and the service (in the restaurant) for breakfast was very nice.

Immaculate, friendly, comfortable, quiet, convenient, reasonably priced- this place has it all! We stayed here about 5 months ago and I fell in love with the place. Our room was clean, the bathroom was spacious (shower only), it was on the rear side of the building overlooking a courtyard, so away from the busy street that the B & B is off. The staff is friendly, speak some English, but the main person who took care of us for check-in, check-out and breakfast both days speaks English well. It is located close to the Rialto Bridge vaporetto stop, right off a street heavy with pedestrian traffic- but as soon as you turn off that street into the courtyard out front, it is amazingly quiet. Breakfast was also good, with fresh cornetti pastry and coffee, and yogurt on request (there may have been more served, I don't recall anymore, I just know it was mostly carbs, but it was enough, and nice). Our room did overlook a rear courtyard which contains 2 restaurants, neither of which we ate at during our stay, but one of which is recommended in the Ric Steves guide. During the serving hours, with the windows (which were beautiful wood ones that opened in more ways than I can count) and shutters open, you can hear the diners and servers, but it's not a rowdy crowd. By about 10 pm, all is quiet. The B & B has a bar and restaurant attached to it. We ate there the first night and it was quite good. My boyfriend had the sea bass, I got to try a bite and it was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten (I think I had pasta with bruscandoli, which are hop shoots that are a delicacy available sometimes in the Spring in Venezia) and it was good, but it paled in comparison to the sea bass. (We ate elsewhere on our second night and I ordered sea bass there, but it wasn't nearly as good as what my Sweetie had the evening before at Barababao.) I highly recommend the place and I would choose it again. I couldn't have been happier. OK, maybe if I had had a few more days, I

Our 2 nights at the Barababao were excellent. We found it ideally located for touring the major Venice attractions. Our room was very clean, the bathroom modernised, the staff helpfull and security good. Have no hesitation in recommending this B&B.

This was our first attempt at booking a B&B in Europe. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the B&B Barababao. It was much more spacious and modern than we had expected, as well as excewptionally clean. The staff was very courteous and very helpful. The restaurant on the ground floor and B&B above are family owned and very well run. Breakfast was in the restaurant and the best we had throughout our stay in Italy. Also, the location is excellent. You can walk to Piazza San Marco in less than ten minutes.

We liked staying here a lot, and have just returned. Is typical for Europe for location and price, but not what most Americans "expect" here. Tucked away on small Venice street, with shops and hotels and restaurants all around. Serviceable, clean, friendly with everything you need. Only 4-5 rooms on second floor over commercial area. Hallways and stairs going in off street a little dark and scary for some, but again, typical. We would stay there again for convenience and helpfullness. Great restaurants around there, great breakfasts.

Barababao is in a great location. It is 10 minutes from Piazza San Marco, 2 minutes from Rialto Bridge, shopping and restaurants all around (what place isn't, though). The corner room is large and clean, with 2 windows. They need to be kept shut at night because people occasionally walk by all hours of the night, speaking quite loudly. The bar/restaurant below was reasonable and good. It was a much better deal than any other place we ate in Venice.

Mappy showed hotel north of church, but it was south of church. Coming from Rialto vaporetta stop, take a right at chapel and you will see Barababao to the right on the next corner. We were very happy with room and attached bathroom (shower, sink, toilet, and hose-type hairdryer). The room contained a safe and several places to store and hang clothes. The breakfast was served between 8:30am and 10am in their restaurant and included your choice of coffee drinks, orange juice, yogurt, assortment of breads, jams, nutella, and honey. Full lunch and dinner service is offered daily in the restaurant that contains a bar. There were so amny other choices in the area we just ate breakfast there. About a 5-10 minute walk to St. Mark's Plaza and 1-2 minute walk to Rialto bridge. They let us keep our bags in a locked room after check-out until we picked them up later in the day. Compared to other prices in Venice, this was a great deal and a nice location.

Location is very good, very close to Rialto Bridge,half-way between train station and "Piazza S.Marco". Rooms are nice and confortable, but the bathroom is very narrow, essenial, but however clean and private. Breakfast is quite abundant (Italian style), you can find in the restaurant a table already prepared for you with bread, jam, juice and biscuits and you can ask for a coffe or cappuccino

Thanks to Venere.com our 9-day stay in Italy was, except one accomodation (B&B Butterfly),very big surprise(we travel a lot). Not only the way we've booked all our stays, also the confirmations, low prices and the reality was the same as showed on the web pics. B&B Barabao is part of a restaurant, we unfortunately didn't have time to try, the menu sounded very yummy, but staff is competent and friendly, breakfast was delicious and it'll be pleasure to return there again. It's near Ponte di Rialto, easy acces everywhere and still quiet.

Location is very good, near the Rialto Bridge but then tucked away in a corner so it is quiet enough to have a good sleep. Of course there is no view of the river but you can't expect that much with this price. B&B was very accommodating with our early check-in. Room was spacious and VERY clean, with a/c and tv. No lifts so you may ask for help with heavy luggages. Breakfast was good enough with very good coffee. It may be a bit difficult to find because I find the directions given a bit confusing, we ended up using GPS to find the B&B. However, Venice in general is easy to get lost with the its maze of small streets. The directions given by the website may need to be revised.
