CHECK AVAILABILITY
The B&B is in downtown Venice, in “Calle delle Botteghe”: in front of “Campo San Barnaba” – where you can admire the magnificent frontage of the Church – and just around the corner from Campo Santa Margherita, in Sestiere of Dorsoduro, in the historical centre. The newly restored rooms are elegant and welcoming, with a luxurious mosaic marble floor (“terrazzo veneziano”), dated 1826 and offering an enchanting panoramic view (Church of San Barnaba, Rio S.Barnaba, San Marco’s Belfry). On the first floor there’s a nice Tea Room where you can have breakfast and relax. Just around the corner you’ll find the most characteristic restaurants in Venice (to be clear, not the overpriced touristic ones, but the genuine, honest Venice’s ones) and the best “bacari” (these are traditional restaurants where you can drink good Veneto’s wine and eat the typical “spunci”). B&B Ancient Venice is just a short walk from San Marco Square, Rialto Bridge and Accademia. The B&B is very close to the “Ca’ Rezzonico” stop, where you can catch the main Venice's Vaporetto Line 1.

The location was good. The bedroom was fine but the bathroom, which was shared by two couples, was in poor condition. The shower rose did not work properly, more like standing under a tap, the floor titles were lifting and broken and the shower leaked extensively. We felt this was substandard and should not be rented out until renovations have been completed.

One of the worst accomodation I've ever been. The main problem was the bathroom. First, it was not clear from the webpage that the bathroom was shared. Second, the bathroom state was really poor (leaking water, broken tiles and so on). Third, I'd expect a shred bathroom to be cleaned at least twice a day, but this was not the case. Finally, there was no hair-dryer (a guest had probably borrowed it), and when I called the tenant he said he couldn't do anything. The breakfast was really bad (some discount cookies and croissaints, no fresh milk, ...). The wi-fi connection did not reach the room. The TV had only a few channels, none of the major ones. The bed lamp was off, because the plug was not working. The room door COULD NOT BE CLOSED from inside, and had only a tiny lock from outside. We NEVER met the tenant in 4 days. Overall, a nightmare at >100€ per night. The worst bargain in my tourist life.

The description on Website sounds good, unfortunately the accomodation itself was a nightmare. Firstly, the communal bathroom was filthy, and consistently dirty over the 4 nights we spent there. the communal area and included breakfast consisted of a dirty table without washbasin, on which numerous packages of old Supermarket cheap biscuits were piled without sorting or cleaning. out neighbours were brave enough to breakfast there, their dirty Cups spent 48 hrs on the table before being removed. the room itself was fairly clean, the linen clean, but the door was crooked on hinges and required a distinct strenght to open and Close. the free wifi was non existent, insofar as there is a Password for wifi in ´the public ares of venice, which does not work in the accomodation itself. All in all a very poor experience, not reflective of the description of the accomodation on the venere Website. I hope this Review allows other couples to avoid a similar experience.

The host had a very bad attitude on several points. The coffee dose was limited to one very small portion for each breakfast. We were told the sunday at 8pm that we had to pay cash : imagine the problem for us with an arrival the monday morning. The frige contained unfresh products and was very dirty. The room never cleaned up. Sincerely we are very desappointed according to the price paid. It could be a problem if you don't modify it alain marsaud

This was the worst B&B I have ever stayed at. There is no breakfast just old cookies. The coffee pot did not work. There is no room cleaning or no new towels on a daily basis. It is very dirty. No T.V.- No A.C.- No Inter net! There is no one to ask questions or to give help. Cash only up front very seedy place. DO NOT STAY THERE. WARNING WARNING

Breakfast is really not of an acceptable standard, all prepackaged, stale food and tepid warm water and no real coffee or tea. well located, nice area but just treat it as a room.

Good things: The localization is good, perfect to walk to the principal places of the city and with very goods bar restaurants in front of the B&B and the best gelateria opened until the midnight. The view of my room was beautiful. Everything was clean and the room was very spaciousness. The Bad things: You have to call to the managers of the hotel when you arrive and when you have to go, this is expensive for international travelles and is a cost you have to contemplate. Their is nobody of the hostel in the hostel and nobody goes to receive your room in the end of your stay so you have to call to know what you do with the keys. In spite of that you cannot leave your suitcases in hostel if your fly get late in that day and you want to use this time walking in the city. You have to carry your bags with you, even if nobody was receive your room because if you want to do it maybe their is a charge for... The breakfast is not really a breakfast there cookies and other snacks in a table and you take what you want and you prepare your coffee or the in a machine..

Quite nice for people who just wanna sleep anywhere and with a good location near the city center. But the breakfast with coffe in plastic cups and some croissants bought at a supermarket is not a breakfast that i could recommend.

There is nobody working at the hotel. NO BREAKFAST!!!! There is some stuff on the table but we didn't even touch them. I guess they have been staying there for a long time. You have to SHARE bathroom!!! NO Internet!!! You can go to Piazza San Marco in 20 minutes by walking. If I go back to Venice again, I won't stay there for sure!

For the indepentant travelers on a budget Very clean close to center. Share bath with two other rooms. Breakfast is self serve packaged contintenal with lots of juice choices. You get to hear the canal life. Beds on the firm side with light pillows. Great value for the location in Venice. Across the square from Grom, best gelatto. Close to Vaporetto stop on grand canal. Ca' Rezzonico museum short walk.

We loved it! Great location...walking distance (with bags!) from bus station and many central "sights"...and spacious room with lovely views across the square and down the canal. Not a "hotel" in the conventional sense but all the better for it...bordering on eccentric in some respects! I would heartily recommend it to anyone wanting an informal, laid-back stay in a beautiful city.

Make sure to sleep with the window shut and the fan (there was no A/C) on: if you don't, you'll be kept awake by noise from the square outside, and plagued by a horde of mosquitoes! Breakfast was cold only, and was not restocked by our host, Paolo; as a result, we ran out of milk and bread. That said, he was otherwise very helpful and provided us with lots of useful information when we arrived.

Very recomendable, in a quiet square, not much turistic area. Very nice rooms. Negative thinks the breakfast is so poor and impossible find the audioguide offered. If i return to Venice, i hope, i will stay again in Ancient Venice. And recomended to all of you. We pay 70 eur/day/doubleroom.

We had to pay cash upfront which we were not expecting. We now understand that B&B's in Italy cannot usually process credit cards. This information should be included on the website of each B&B so that guests know what to expect before they arrive. The breakfast was spartan, but we enjoyed the location of the B&B. The view from our window was lovely.

The relationship between price and quality was fantastic. The B&B was in walking distance to everything and is really well located. However, many of the things that were announced on the webpage didn't get offered (no internet, no TV, no shower gel, no shower caps, apparently they offer audio tour but since nobody of the staff was ever to be seen we couldn't get them, etc.). In spite of all this, i would totally recommend staying at this place. The above mentioned things are not necessary for making your stay in Venice worthwhile.

This is an excellent B&B, located beside the charming Rio di Barnaba. Paolo, our host was very friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable. It is especially suited to younger people and couples. The room was large, plenty of wardrobe and storage space, lovely view and very clean. Breakfast is available 24/7 ;). Fresh veg available off a barge in the mornings was lovely :) Totally recommend it!
