About Bed and Breakfast Casale di Colle Ionci

b&b - exterior Bed and Breakfast Il Casale di Colle Ionci b&b - exterior IL CASALE B&B is located in a two storied building dating from the 1600's which has various annexes (see Colle Ionci Cultural Association), surrounded by a park of two ectares.

Tall pine trees dominate the back of the country house (whereas) a driveway lined with cypresses leads to the front, facing south. The view across the Plain towards the sea is interspersed with groups of large trees creating oases of shade furnished with tables and chairs where one can pause in conversation or relish an aperitif.

Elms, oaks, olive trees with laurels, guelder rose, oleander bushes give a really sunny Mediterranean look, enclosed on two sides by high laureal hedges.

It is a pity that it was raining often but the hotel is beautiful and efficient. The park of the hotel is of unique beauty. The food is very good. Should pass there some time and possibly non to go to work as I had to.

We stayed in a beautiful lodge opposite the farmhouse. Unfortunately the bed seemed damp and not properly aired. The surroundings were gorgeous and the breakfast was very good. The lodge could do with some TLC. The route instructions were unclear and the place was a good 20 kilometres from the motorway.

As you drive through the gates do not turn around and drive away!!Although the grounds are rather ramshackle and rustic this place is a real 'cracker'.Valeriano is the perfect host and does everything in his power to make you welcome The food is excellent and the apmosphere in the dining room very sociable. The menu is changed nightly and the quality of the wine superb, you can even get a cooked breakfast if you wish. The room was spotless although the bathroom though adequate was rather on the small side. All the family/staff work amazingly hard to make this place a success. We would certainly stay here again when in the Rome area, it is covenient for Chiampino no hassle with the G.R.A a great place to start or complete your stay in italy.

We enjoyed our stay at Il Colle di Ionci very much and found it excellent value, it was set in lovely calm surroundings and the staff were all charming and very helpful. They also served us several simple and delicious evening meals and the breakfasts were good and substantial. We would certainly go there again if we visit the area and would recommend it to other visitors. It is not typical hotel accommodation, the house seems to be run primarily as a cultural and educational centre, but that made it all the more interesting - however people expecting 4* luxury, elegant bathrooms and so on would not find them here, though to our mind this was much nicer than the posher and less individual hotels in city centres!

A great location in the hill south of Rome. We didn't stop long enough to explore the area but we will do that in future and will definately stay here again.

Quiet and lovely place.Excellent to take a rest in between visits to Rome, seaside and the mountainous area south of Rome. To Rome take the bus at the corner of the street. It takes 55 minutes to the metro terminal. Finding the place may be difficult the first time as others have said. Our advice : do not enter the via Acqua Lucia when you meet it the first time coming from Velletri on the Ss7 but drive about 3 km from Velletri till just past the Total gas station. 50 m further ,don't turn into the via Appia North but, just behind, to the right into the other end of via Acqua Lucia. It is much safer here to slow down.

Located near and owned by the same owners as L'Elce.......very friendly reception and good service throughout the stay. Meals in the hotel restaurant are of particular mention and must have been the best during our stay in Tuscany. Well worth a return visit.

This B+B is a tad tricky to find. The main building functions as a local cultural organization and also provides space for weddings etc. The people were nice but the room was tiny and the bed was dreadful. I think that it is a tad overpriced. We ate in the dining room one evening and the food was reasonably priced by Italy standards but while perfectly good, it was certainly not outstanding.

The service and friendlenes of the staff was exceptional, they had plenty of time for us and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very Italian, no tourist rubbish. We really enjoyed our stay and we will definatly go again.

We stayed for 3 nights in August and have to agree with another reviewer that it is very hot without air conditioning if not used to it. The proprietor, Valerio, was most welcoming and very helpful at all times and luckily speaks good English too. The rooms we had are probably best described as rustic in style, but were quite charming and very clean. I was very impressed that the beds are made each day and did not expect that on a B&B basis. Breakfast - you have to walk 100m to another house for this - was fresh and plentiful the first day we had it, but much less was offered on the next, which is odd. I have no doubt that more would have been forthcoming had we felt hungry (and strongly) enough to ask for it! One real criticism is the directions if taking the Lake Road - which is lovely - as the property is very difficult to find based on the current website info. I discussed this with Valerio and he said he would change the directions, but 7 days on from our stay I see he has not. In a nutshell, stay on the lake road until you hit a T-junction at Velletri, turn right (sign Roma) and go about 2km and look out for Via Acqua Lucia hidden on the right half way round a right hand bend (which comes just after an Audi Dealership on the left). Go straight up and the houses are clearly numbered about 500m up the road. I would definitely recommend staying here if you want a charming antidote to the modern hotels of this world and will stay there again, I hope.

The hosts were extraordinarily welcoming and the food was truly spectacular. We would love to go back.
