Bed and Breakfast Il Cortiletto - Trapani

This little gem is excellent value. Its extremely central, only about a 1 minute off the main shopping and eating streets. The B&B itself is beautiful and quaint with a big kichen area for use by residents. Its done up in quite an arty style and is decorated and serviced to a much higher standard than you would believe from the information on the booking site. We had room cleaning every 2nd day, the room had air conditioning, a tv, a hairdryer and toiletries were provided. The shower was great, powerful and plenty of hot water. We were also given 2 keys one for the front door and one for the room door so we could come and go as we please. On the negative side, the B&B is actually up a side street and some of these streets look grotty and smell of pee so it can be off-putting and misleading. The rooms were slightly on the small side but spotless and pleasant. The toilet, sink and shower area are all in the one room and whilst the shower was great the toilet and sink were really close together and there was little room to move around. If you are on the larger side it might actually be difficult for you to sit on the toilet!! Lastly, on the day we were paying, the lady advised me before I paid about the additional credit card fee if you pay by card. Apparently its in small print somewhere on the booking website but I think its 4%. So forewarned I just went straight to a nearby bank machine and paid in cash instead.

Very beautiful structure, with little but friendly rooms and a useful commune kitchen but: the lady wants 4 % more to pay with bancomat, it is no legal. The price of breakfast was 3 euro she wanted 6 euro, it is no good thing. Fortunately we had ear plugs, because the night was full of shouting, screeming and car clacson...and there aren't double windows...

We chose the property because of its proximity to the Birgi Airport (only half an hour by car), and only stayed for one night. The B&B is a bit hidden and surrounded by narrow roads, which is a bit difficult to pass through by car, but we found parking some 400 meters away. The owner was very nice and friendly, speaks good English, and also gave us some ideas were to eat/visit that night, including a map of the area. For a bed a breakfast the property was quite nice, bathrooms a bit small but new. There was also some useful information about the surrounding area, places to visit ect. in the rooms. The surrounding area was quite pleasant & quite but if you have a loud guest in the room next to yours you can easily hear them. There is a lovely dining area downstairs however we did not have time to eat breakfast because we had to leave pretty early next morning. On the whole we were satisfied and I would recommend the place if you intend to stay for a few days. A tip for the other travellers, take cash to pay your bill or else you'll have to pay approximately 5% charge on your credit card.
