Hotel Reviews Villa Monica

Villa Monica was an amazing place to stay. Being up and away from the center of town was just what we were looking for. The area was very peaceful and quiet and the view from our room was simply amazing. The pictures online don't do it justice. The location made it a short train ride to Pompeii and also quick ferry ride to get to Capri. Pasquale was a fabulous host. He met us when we first arrived in Sorrento and drove us up the hill to the Villa (which required some great driving on his part). He provided a shuttle service back and forth into town every day and also gave us a great "insiders look" into what to do and what to avoid in the city. His recommendations were great and we appreciated his help with any questions we had. The room was nice and well kept and breakfast good. If we are ever back in Sorrento, we would definitely stay at the Villa Monica again.

Villa Monica is an excellent B&B accomodation in Sorrento and you get real value for your money. It will exceed your expectations. Peaceful, quiet, clean and still elegant. The beautiful, panoramic view is unforgettable day and night. It is not in the center, but it doesn't make any problems at all, because Pasquale/the owner drives you to the center after breakfast every day and nights back to Villa Monica. The daily transfers are well organised... He is very helpful and gives suggestions for everything.Sorrento is also an excellent and practical starting point to the beautiful and historical places around, like Neapels,Capri, Amalfi Coast,Positano,Vesuvio,Pompeii... I would suggest to everybody to stay here at the Villa Monica !

This was a truly wonderful experience. Coming to Sorrento and staying at Villa Monica gave us a great lifetime memory. Pasquale treated us like family and Sonja provided a wonderful breakfast. When you stay a Villa Monica you are made to feel special. Also, Pasquale, probably the world's greatest driver, took us in style where we needed to go. Capri and the Amalfi Coast are easy to reach from this location. The view from our balcony extended from Naples to Vesuvius to Sorrento--truly a million dollar view!

During our honeymoon, this B&B was our favorite place to stay. While it is a little outside of Sorrento, Pasquale was very happy to shuttle us in and out of town. And its location offered some of the best views we experienced during our honeymoon. Outside of our beautiful room, you could see the entire Bay of Naples, which was fantastic at night or during the day (absolutely breathtaking). Service was spectacular (wonderful breakfast and extremely friendly and warm hosts), and the rooms themselves were very comfortable and attractive. Common rooms were very nice as well. We really couldn't recommend this place any more. Sorrento itself is also excellent, both itself as a fun and beautiful city, and for its easy access to Pompeii and Isle of Capri.

The owner, Pasquale is a wonderful host. He is every friendly and helpful and provides a great shuttle service driving you himself from downtown Sorrento to his Villa Monica which is up, way up the hill overlooking Sorrento all the way to Naples. It is a necessary amenity since he is far from the city center but staying up where the Villa Monica is easily worth it for the exclusive view and quiet surroundings. Again, the view is breathtaking from your private balcony and the common terrace on the edge of the cliff! The brekfast is good compared with other places we experienced in Italy. Pasquales hospitality far exceeds what you will find elsewhere. Sorrento is a great place to stay if you want to visit Pompei (or Naples) as well as the Amalfi Coast or Capri.

We were very very happy with this B&B; it was way beyond our expectations and would return without hesitation! The view from our room was breathtaking and you have to see it to believe it! Pasquale was very helpful and gave us very good information on where to eat and how to get around etc. In fact, Pasquale drove us into town and back again and out to eat in the evening. This is the best service we’ve ever had anywhere! The breakfast was perfect for us with cheese, rolls, fresh fruit and sweet buns etc. and as much really good coffee as you wished for. The place was spotless and we would definitely recommend this small friendly B&B with one of the best views in all of Italy! We'll be back.....

Staying at Villa Monica was one of the highlights of our trip. The property has a magnificent view over the Bay of Naples and it was lovely to eat breakfast on the terrace overlooking this stunning area and to escape at times from all the other tourists in Sorrento. The owner Pasquale is a charming, funny host who was extremely helpful with transport and anything we needed to know. Tranquil and personable place to stay.

We had an excellent stay!!!! Pasquale was an incredible sounding board and a true joy! We had a car and it was very difficult to find on our own. Call when you get to Sorrento! The great part about it being hard to find is the location!!!! It is incredible, and you are away from the noise at night. Pasquale will do the driving for you so there are no worries!

villa Monica is the place to stay in Sorrento. The view is breath taking. Ask for the Sorrento or the Vesuvio room. Pasquale is VERY nice and ready to help anytime. WARNING, driving your car to the B&B could be hazardous. Park your car at the public parking and call Pasquale, he'll go pick you up. Overall, an excellent stay.

I would suggest that this accommodation is probably better suited to a three to four day visit. Being out of town makes for a slower pace. The proprietor drives you back and forth but this may be limiting for perhaps a two day stay as it is time consuming. We were told at the end of our stay that the road outside leads to Positano and that many people come to stay for that reason. It would be possible to take the ferry to Positano and walk back, this is an added feature and should be made known to guests at the start of their stay. The outside of the property around the outside entertaining area needs to be cleaned up, really just some weeding, to make it more pleasant. The view at night from the balcony over Sorrento is stunning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Monica. Pasquale is a wonderful host and was happy to drive us to and from the town of Sorrento whenever we wanted. Breakfast was excellent (fruit, juice, bread, cheese, pastry) as was the coffee. The views from our room were unbelievable and they can also be seen from the balcony where breakfast is served. There is a lovely sitting room where you can log onto the internet or watch TV. We stayed for 5 nights and for 3 of these we ate at Pasquale's local restaurant where the food is excellent and the prices very reasonable.

This place is a real gem. One would be hard pressed to find a better B&B on the Amalfi coast. My wife and I stayed here for 7 days and I think its the best B&B we ever stayed in in Europe. Its several miles from town, up a steep, narrow hill and has a magnificent view of the Sorrento town and coastline, Mt. Vesuvius, and the bay of Naples from the balconies of three of the five rooms at the Villa.Book one of these rooms, if possible. We stayed in the Sorrento room which is the only one of the three that has an ensuite bathroom. The other two ocean facing rooms have private baths outside of the rooms. The owner, Pasquale is an exceptional person who is very enthusiastic and an excellent host. Every day, he will drive you to town and pick you up so you don't need a vehicle. He also brought us to two restaurants where we were the only foreigners in the place.Needless to say, the food was quite good and very reasonable for the area. We have only been back a week and have already recommended this place to some of our friends. If we return to the area, we will definitely stay at Villa Monica again. Keep up the good work, Pasquale!

Our first view from our window at the Villa Monica took our breath away. It was amazing. From being picked up and dropped off at the train station as part of their hospitality, (and driving us to and from town each day), the wonderful breakfasts and very comfortable accommodations, the Villa Monica was everything we could have wished for on our vacation. Meeting Pasquale was like seeing an old friend or family member who you haven't seen for years, very friendly and always helpful. They provided everything we needed and more to make our stay perfect. We highly recommend the Villa Monica to everyone. You will love the service, comfort and most of all the million dollar view of Sorrento, the sea, Naples, Mt Vesuvius, and beyond.

If you want to wake up with the view or Mount Vesuvius, watch fireworks and have breakfast out in the wonderful outdoors, this is the place! Pasquale & Monica are great hosts; and the best thing about this B & B is the free pickup from Sorrento town! Each day, Pasquale will offer breakfast, and he even gives us a schedule of what time he can pick us up again to get back to the Villa in the afternoon. If we should decide to go down to the town for dinner, he can do that as well, and drive us back to the villa later in the evening. Monica and Pasquale are absolutely charming, and so is their son Flavio, who is really cute! They are very helpful and Pasquale also brought us back to the train station when we left for Naples later in the afternoon (which is not according to the pick up schedule). He also gave us very good advice on what to watch out for in Naples, especially regarding pickpockets. Thank you Pasquale for the useful information. Sorrento is a good base to use if you want to visit Pompeii (day trip will suffice). We find that the villa is much better than if we were to stay in the main town area, as it can be very noisy over in Sorrento at night.

Don't be put off by the distance from the centre. The centre is very loud at night and its impossible to sleep (we stayed in the centre for 2 nights before moving up to the villa). Pasquale and Monica are lovely people who will do anything to help you make the most of your holiday. The photos do not do the view justice! It is so amazing - an undisturb panoramic view of the amalfi coast, Mt Vesuvius and the lower parts of Sorrento... so beatiful I even scored a marriage proposal! Thank you again Pasquale and Monica we will definately return to Villa Monica!

Villa Monica exceeded our expectations by miles, even after reading all the glowing reviews. The views are to die for, the peace and quiet a welcome respite from excursions to attractions in the area, and Pasquale is in all respects the perfect host. The 3 rooms open now (all with that stunning view, each with its terrace) are tastefully appointed with mosquito nets to drape over the beds and clean, modern bathrooms. Big fluffy towels were changed daily. One room comes with a jacuzzi tub (the bathroom in that case is next door, not en suite, but it's private). An ample breakfast is served out on the patio (or I imagine in the dining room if the weather is bad, but all we had was sunshine). There is free wireless if you have a laptop or Pasquale will let you check your email at breakfast on his computer. He was generous and ready with rides whenever we wanted, and we counted staying just outside of Sorrento, with its noise and traffic, a tremendous plus.

My wife and I cannot say enough about the Villa Monica. Pictures do not do it justice. The view from our room was breathtaking. We could not dream a more romantic place to stay. We felt the place was ridiculously underpriced, especially with the service we received. Pasquale waited on us hand and foot and even acted as our very own personal taxi service. He speaks great english and really took care of us. I would not go anywhere else when we go back to Sorrento. At of all the places we stayed in Italy, this was by far our favorite.

It's a great place for poeple looking for a place to stay with a superb view and in luxurious conditions. It's far from the city, but it's a big advantage for the place. If you want to bring a car, just bring the smallest one. It will be the most convenient.

We only stayed for one night, so we didn't have the chance to fully evaluate all aspects of the B&B. However, we can confirm that owner (Pasquale) is very friendly and the service is really good. Don't be concerned with the B&B being further away from town, as there are free shuttle services to and from Sorrento city centre a few times a day. Breakfast is quite good (bread, butter & jam, cheese, biscuits, juice, cappucino/tea), and being able to have it in the backyard, with beautiful views of the Bay of Naples and Mt.Vesuvius just makes it an even more wonderful experience. My room with private bathroom is very clean and cosy. Had a peep at the common bathroom, it's sparkling clean too. The owner puts a selection of novels in the room for pleasure reading. So it really makes me feel like i'm sleeping in my own room back home. For those who are planning to stay for a longer period, ask for rooms with a view of the Bay of Naples. The view is really nice, both in the day and night. With Sorrento and all the other towns nearby (e.g. Positano, Amalfi, Capri, etc) being extremely touristy, it's nice to get away from the main city area for a change, and stay somewhere where the locals live. Would highly recommend this place for people who wants a relaxing holiday, as it's good value for money.

"ottima", a perfect 10+ exceeded expectations, very nice and quiet place ... just far enough not to hear the city noise. Rooms are large and very clean and the view ... What to say about Pasquale, when everything has been said before... he is more than a twin "brother". Hint: if you cannot find the place, stop at the Monica pastry shop downtown Sorento...part of the family

Fabulous place - Pasquale was very welcoming, and drove us everywhere we needed to go. (He makes a great cappucino, too!) Villa Monica is in a quiet, beautiful setting on a hill about 3 - 4 km away from downtown Sorrento. Highly recommended.

I can not say enough good things about this place. Pasquale isn't a front desk clerk, or a maid or the typical person you meet at a B & B. He is like visiting your uncle or cousin. He drives down to the city center to meet you, He finds you when you're lost. And he knows everyone in Sorrento. I wish I could have spent my entire 2 week vacation there with him in Villa Monica. And I haven't even begun talking about the views. I'm going to see about getting some friends together and renting the whole villa soon.

Absolutely the most gorgeous view from any room we've ever had. Pasquale met us at rail station and was prompt on all subsequent (frequent) calls for transport. Host most responsive to all information requests. Enjoyed ferry trip to Capri and local bus to Positano/Amalfi/Ravello. Pasquale is unchallenged cappachino king!

It is very easy to write a positive recommendation on the Villa Monica accommodation. Even though my wife and I travelled to the pension at the end of December, our stay at the villa could not have been better. Clean, warm rooms, warm coisants for breakfast, efficient pick up and delivery service when getting around in Sorrent-- it was ideal and comfortable in every way. Highly recommended.

Very nice confortable room, well appointed with TV & Aircon (free)but room was cool so not needed, good inexpensive restaurant pretty close by. Ideal if you have a car, as they have free parking. They provide free lift into / out of Sorrento twice a day which is ample, even the people with cars availed of this. Taxis are very expensive in Sorrento so you will need to avail of the collection service. Very safe, and fab view from the villa over the whole of Sorrento and surrounding area. Perfect if you'd like somewhere peaceful, rural and reasonably priced. Well worth the money. Would not suit people who want late or wild nights out as you are collected approx 11pm, but then again Sorrento is pretty quiet at night.

Five minutes afer we call Villa Monica to know how to get there, Pasquale was picking us up and taking us to the Villa in his car. In the 5 minutes ride we realized that he is really friendly and service devoted. The Villa is really beautifull and confortable as well as the room which we were assigned. Everything very clean, tiddy and confortable (particullary the room and bathroom). They served a very good breakfast with cornetos and delicious cookies made in their family's pasticery shop. Also, they have a very good pick-up service from Villa Monica to town 2 times a day. We've been travelling Italy for more than 3 weeks and this was by far the best bed & breakfast in this price range.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Monica. The pictures really do depict how nice the place is, and especially the view. I actually chose to stay there just based on the pictures, and we were not disappointed. The room and the bathroom were clean, as well as the common areas. The bathroom was cleaned and new towels given each day. And the breakfast out on the backyard terrace with the view of Sorrento is something to remember. The impression I got of the service was that its quality exceeded most B&Bs out there, matching that of hotels. But you still get the kind of close and personal attention that you expect with B&B. Pasquale was really pleasant and fun to talk to (and his English is quite good), and very helpful. Although Villa Monica is nearly impossible to reach on foot, Pasquale the owner picked us up from the center, and gave us rides to and from the center twice a day at no extra charge. Villa Monica was a VERY GOOD value for what we paid, and we highly recommend that you stay here if you are staying in Sorrento.
How to reach B&B Villa Monica
By car
Once you are in Tasso square, drive in the direction of via S.Lucia and proceed for about 3 km towards Casarlano. At the little square of Casarlano, proceed straight ahead. The property is accessible via a winding and steep track, and the last 300 metres (via Campitiello) are private, therefore it is important that you contact the B&B to arrange your check-in.
