Hotel Reviews Maria Grazia

Germany, Oct 2006
We stayed for four nights at B&B Maria Grazia and had the three-bed-bedroom facing the street. Although it was not too quiet (also because there was music on the piazza, so even the room facing to the orchard would not have been quieter), we slept very well. Also, the bathroom share was not problematic at all - with three women getting ready in the morning and the evening that tells you something about the patience of the owners, who live there as well. As we were the only guests, we had the spacious kitchen to ourselves and that is just the biggest asset of Maria Grazia. We felt like natives, doing our shopping in the busy streets around the corner and cooking in the evening and enjoying the music in the Piazza through the kitchen window. Also, Piano di Sorrento is a perfect starting point for everything of interest in the region. We did 100% public transport, with two minutes by train to Sorrento, where all the ferries to the islands and Naples as well as the Amalfi coast depart, 30-40 minutes to Vesuvius/ Herculaneum/ Pompeji by train, spectacular bus ride directly from Piano to Amalfi and Positano. Three thumbs up for B&B Maria Grazia in Piano as the best solution for budget travellers - who don't need a lot of extra hotel like amenities, but rather feel at home at the Golfo di Sorrento!

Our room was very small with not enough privacy, our bathroom was large. We had use of the kitchen which was good and just as well, there is only one place to eat in the entire town unless you want to walk miles to the waterfront. There is no common room to sit and read. The owners were very nice and obliging and will supply you with anything you require, they made up for the lack of facilities. There is nothing at Piano but you are close to the railway.

Our stance in Mariz Grazia has been really exceptional. Close to the center of Piano di sorrento and the bus station, is only 20 minutes to Sorrento, and a 5 minuts walking to the beach. Enzo is charming, and he is coming to pick up us to the train station when we arrived. We thought it was too kind. The room, quiet, clean and spaciousness. And you can use the kitchen as you want. Even for breakfast or taking a pìzza and lunch there. Definitively, we'll come back to Sorrento and MAriz Grazia B&B !!. (Mayte & elizabeth, Spain)

There was nice flat in the Piano di Sorrento. Conditions in that place are perfect for someone who looking for place in the middle of town (from here is not so far to circumvesuvana, bus station, many shops and few pubs), but where is fresh air and silence (window of room is located on the citrus garden side). Flat owner is very friendly and willing to help in any problems. On the other side the flat is situated a little bit too far from Sorento and Pompei which are interested place to visit. Summaries we recommend that flat. It will be really good choice. Monika and Piotr Piwowar from Cracow, Poland

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maria Grazia in April. We felt as if we were staying in a family apartment. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful. The room at the back with en-suite bathroom was quiet and comfortable and overlooked an enclosed orange and lemon orchard. We made good use of the kitchen for breakfast and for drinks at other times of the day. We enjoyed being in the centre of a typical bustling Italian town away from the tourist centres. We were welcomed in shops and restaurants despite our limited phrase book Italian. Being close to public transport (bus and train) enabled us to easily visit the sites, sights and coastline. The accommodation, location and ambience suited us senior citizens down to the ground. We had an excellent week's holiday without breaking the bank. We hope to return to Sorrento and will definitely stay at the Maria Grazia again.

We liked this b&b. It is very much a family home, and they want to provide a good service. We saw two rooms - one nice and large overlooking the street, with separate toilet just across the corridor, and another facing the back which is smaller but very comfortable and with private shower and toilet. We had the latter. The room was amazingly quiet. In March, whilst we were there the temperatures were chilly but we had good heat from the very quiet air conditioning unit. Breakfast was laid in the kitchen – yoghurt, cereals, various bread, croissants and spreads, and a coffee percolator. We took the opportunity to cook an evening meal or two there to reduce our costs. Maria and Marco were very helpful and friendly but never intrusive. Piano Sorrento is a pleasant little, non-touristy town and the station is only five minutes walk. We arrived by train. The b&b is not difficult to find – turn left out of the station platform and take a right up the street. Keep on the right hand pavement all the way up to the piazza. Cross the piazza to the main road and turn left under arches. Keep going and just before a green-grocer’s shop is the door to a block of residential flats. Maria Grazia is listed there. The train is very convenient for Sorrento, one stop further on from Piano. They run every half hour. Buses from Sorrento went to the Amalfi coast but they did also from Piano. In the other direction, Pompeii and Vesuvius are easily and quickly reached. Naples was only 40 minutes away and well worth the trip. There are walks in the local hills – maps from the tourist office in Sorrento. We could have stayed an extra night or two. Remember, however, to punch your train ticket on the platform before your journey begins. This is even more important on buses – punch the ticket when you get on. You will need to know about the bus ticketing system to avoid hassle from inspectors who are everywhere. Buy tickets from newsagents and toba

This is a hostel rather than a B&B. You get your own breakfast, do your own cleaning. Its a good location for travelling around.

Everyone should make their B&B Maria Grazia's B&B - it was wonderful and the best place I stayed in in my whole trip. Maria was so wlecoming and helpful. She and her brother picked me up at 10pm at night from the local station and it was pouring with rain - so it was absolutely lovely of them, they weren't even sure at exactly what time I was arriving as well, so i don't know how long they waited! It's convenient to everything you would want to see, 2 minutes walk to the local station, and plenty of supermarkets and shops right outside the front door. The room itself is spacious and the bathroom facilities excellent, there's also your very own kitchen to cook in, and if you need to do washing, it's no problem. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Maria Grazia's B&B to anyone, and would rate it extremely highly. The rates are very reasonable for how great it was as well. Only 160 euro for four nights!

The flat was very nice and it was well located. After just 20 mins walk we were on the beach. I have to say though that there was not too much of a breakfast(coffee and biscotti)

'Maria Grazia' provides excellent value for money. The place is very clean and quiet and the owner was friendly, welcoming and helpful. The place is located in Piano di Sorrento which is two train stops from Sorrento itself, which is good if you want to stay in a more typical Italian place, rather than a tourist dominated one.

EL BED&BREAKFAST ESTA MUY BIEN UBICADO Y CUENTA CON APARTAMENTOS CON COCINA DONDE LOS HUESPEDES PUEDEN REALIZAR EL DESAYUNO Y COCINAR LAS COMIDAS QUE DESEEN. LOS DUEÑOS SON MUY AMABLES Y ATENTOS. ES TOTALMENTE RECOMENDABLE, PERO SI DESEAN CONTAR CON BAÑO PRIVADO SOLICITENLO EN LA RESERVA PORQUE HAY APARTAMENTOS QUE LO TIENE Y OTROS QUE LO COMPARTEN.

Very nice and accomdating hosts, one minor complaint is the bed we had was only a pull out couch, so it was very comfortable. Other than that, would recommend it.

This b&b offered excellent value for money. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Although on a main road, the room was surprisingly quiet. The staff were welcoming and friendly and we would certainly stay here again. A point of note: avoid using taxis around Sorrento if you are not a local as they rip you off.

We can defintely recommend this as a place to stay if you want to do lots of day trips in the area. Piano is much less touristy than the rest of Sorrento but still has everything you need, except lots of restaurants. There is a cheap and direct bus to Naples airport and the train from Sorrento to Naples is very reliable. Maria Grazia is quiet and safe and a great base for a few days.

I,m sorry it took so long to write this review. Maria grazia is the place to stay. It's a couple of metro stops away from the touisty center, and the father and son team are very welcoming. We had a nice room in an apartment and breakfast was ready every morning; no problems at all. The owner was extremely nice to us, and I owe him for his help when me and my girlfriend were lost in Sorrento. Grazie!!!

Second time I have had to enter this review which makes me think that Maria Grazia is more reliable than venere.com! (I am frustrated). Therefore a more brief summary than before. Maria Grazia is a good, simple B&B that is excellent value. There are three rooms, two doubles which share a bathroom and kitchen, and a 3rd room with two single beds that has its own bathroom and kitchen. It is 1 or 2 train stops from Sorrento (about a 1 hour walk) which may be inconvenient for some people. However it is an excellent placve to stay if you want to visit Pompei, Herculaneum and Sorrento. We had the best gelati of our trip in the small piazza near the B&B.

Marco was a great host. Keep in mind that you may have to share a bathroom and kitchen. Breakfast was a little lacking, but ok. Great place for the price.

This is a very outstanding apartment in Piano de Sorrento. Marco was an excellent host, providing lots of extra information on where to go and what to see. Also helped find a place in Amalfi. Very difficult to find this apartment, as it is on the one-way part of the main road, Corse Italia. Also, as this is in an apartment building there are no signs. However, get better instructions from Marco and you will have a great place to stay.

Safe and secure building(good cause I travel alone),close to train, location wonderful plus the overall helpfulness of the owner who even drove me to the train station(my suitecase was a bit overweight). Will definately visit again while in Italy-it even passed the Italian cousin test! Loved it!

Very clean, spacious, and very hospitable hosts. The only problem was the location did not have a lot of nightlife to choose from, and also the beach that was nearest was a little gross. However, it is a 5 min train ride to downtown Sorrento which is beautiful and has tons to offer. For the price and cleanliness you cannot beat it! The rooms and bathroom were huge, and the kitchen area was very nice and convenient. Felt very much like a home away from home.
