Good location (close to the bus terminal/train station but also to Ortigia), very good breakfast; the quality of the rooms (space, noise, light) differs considerably, but some of them are excellent value. The hotel is efficiently run but the general atmosphere could be a bit more hospitable.

Nice room. Breakfast okay (no Cappuchino, only coffee). However a very good place to stay. Just round a corner you find a good supermarket, a fabolous paneficceria and also a reasonable Pizzeria.

A wonderful bed and breakfast situated in an old family house and run by the family. Very welcoming and special. The breakfast is buffet style and very generous. The rooms are very individual and, in the comfortable lounge there is a laptop that can be used free of charge. Highly recommendable.

The hotel is interesting in itself, with several connecting corridors and interior courtyards/dining areas. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was adequate to our wants, and we were able to relax in comfortable public spaces during inclement weather. We look forward to returning to this hotel.

Our room was on the ground floor right off a beautiful courtyard. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom even more so. The whole interior of the building was beautiful, and the breakfast was very satisfying. Plus, tt was only a short walk to get to the island of Ortigia. We would definitely stay here again.

This was really great quality. The rooms were immaculately clean and very spacious. The property itself is quite near to the Train/Bus station but a lot of the nicer attractions are in the neighbouring Ortigia. A nice and peaceful property where you can relax.

Hotel Piccolo Casa Mia is nice and stilish. The staff were very, very helpfull. We forgot an expensive camera in the Catania -Siracusa Interbus and they tried to help us to find it. Unfortunatelly,it was impossible. But the problem is Siracusa. This city has a great historical resonance. Now, Siracusa is dusty, and the management of the turistic objectiv are incomprehensible. Is it possible to close at 6 p.m.,in the summer time, the Greek Theatre and the archeological sit, and The Dionissos' Ear?? But Ortigia is one of the most beautiful place I have ever seen.

The general experience is great. Nice house, nice furniture, nice people, nice terraces (where we could stay in the evening and drink some grappa or prosecco that we bought from the supermarket). Situated in the middle of Siracusa, allowing us to get anywhere in the city in max. 30 minutes. ON FOOT! Now the slightly unpleasant details: very spartan breakfast (yet tasty - orange jam and oven hot buns + home made cakes + fresh squeezed red oranges juice) and very small parking lot (only 2 places - and I must stress that parking is a problem in Siracusa). However, staying in Siracusa and staying in Casa Mia was a great experience. Just as was making trips to Etna, Taormina, Noto or Ragusa. I congratulate myself for the choices we made for this holiday.

Everything about our stay was wonderful except for the mattress on the bed which was 2 small mattresses put together to make a full size bed which kept seperating making it uncomfortable. Staff knowledgeable, warm, welcoming. We could walk everywhere -to the old city as well as to the the ancient ruins throughout both parts of the city. We enjoyed the Orsi Archeological Museum very much.

Casa Mia is a very nice and authentic hotel located in the main street of Syracuse, great location to reach the most interesting places of the city. The hotel is managed by very helpful people, with good knowledge of English. The environment is very open to all kind of people although the most predominant are young people The best asset of the B&B is the place itself. It is located in an ancient palace. The rooms are very nice with lots of details, the same with the rooms and the other common rooms. Also, it is very nice the possibility of having your breakfast in one of the big balconies surrounding the place

The location is perfect and the room is far more than a 2 stars: big, beautyful, big bathroom too. you can have breakfast outside in a sort of terrasse: breakfast is not very rich (no salty food) but there are home made cakes which are very nice! very positive feed back, only one problem and a warning: 1. the "parking" is not a real parking: it is just 2 parking places in the street out of the hotel! so the indication in the site brings confusion. then you have to be lucky and get one of the 2 available places, otherwise you will have to pay the parking place. 2. there's practically no sign out of the hotel, so when you try to find it just pay attention to the numbers. all in all I do recommend it, just be aware of what written above and you'll anjoy a great stay!

The hotel was near (in walking distance) everything we wanted to see, both Ortygia and the arceological sites. We did not have much difficulty finding a parking place nearby. Even though it was on the mainstreet, the place was quiet with a very nice cool courtyard to sit in after the sightseeing. The room was specious and clean. Some difficulties with the shower: water temerature and some flooding. The breakfast was excellent with nice fresh rolls and delicate marmelade and cakes. But some scheese or ham instead of all the sweet stuff would have been nice. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

5-10 minutt å gå over til Ortigia-halvøya. Hyggelig vertsskap.

Casa Mia was very homey -- everyone was very nice and made us feel right at home. Loved the location - very convenient to the bridges to Ortigia. The only concern was that the exterior of the building is currently (5/09) undergoing a rennovation, which made certain common areas very noisy...particularly the breakfast area. However, I would definitely recommend Casa Mia as a perfect choice to stay.

This B&B was great. Within walking distance of railway station although a little awkward to find as there were some roadworks going on and the map was not clear. The hotel does not have large advertising outside, just a door. The address is correct so go by that. Once inside, is is a couple of flights of stairs up. The staff is really good. They have good English. Big bonus was a laundromat a couple of blocks away in the same street heading towards the island. You are within easy walking distance of the island. You must try the pizzas in front of the cathedral. One of these restaurants (can't remember which one - sorry - I think it was the first one on the right as you approach the cathedral) has fantastic pizzas. The best in Sicily. The rest are nothing special. Our room seemed to collect water on the floor in the bathroom as you have a shower so be careful. Have a coffee/tea break on the central patio. Staff are happy to assist. Be early for breakfast.

Excellent situation, less than 5 minutes walking to Ortigia. Shops and restaurants near to the hotel, easy to park there. The building is and old house that has been adapted to a hotel, with high ceilings, and large commun rooms. Decoration or the house is very nice. The only problem was that workers started to work early in the morning, since a inner small square is being improved. Although entrance of the building is a bit dissapointing, once yo get into de real hotel, the change is shocking. Breakfast fantastic, and is possible to have it (I was in early september) in a tables outdoor.

This is an old property. It could benefit from some light decorative work (some humidity traces were evident in the corners of the room). Casa Mia is a beautiful place and we did have a pleasant stay - but there were works going on on the main streets which sandwiched Casa Mia, so there was a LOT of noise. We felt that we should have been told when we booked or at least given a reduced rate. The family were lovely though and the rooms were very comfortable. Also, the area situated was amazing. Very nice district and 10 mins walk to Ortigia.

Outside construction noise during weedays distrubing. Parking a nightmare.

We stayed here for 3 nights, and on the whole found it a pleasant experience. The B&B is in a great location, around 7 minutes walk to the beautiful Ortygia, and around 15 minutes walk to the archeological site and museum. It's a nicely presented place, with plenty of character. Our room was spacious and clean, although the bathroom was a little on the small side. Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room, and largely consisted of a range of sweet pastries. However, our experience of Casa Mia was considerably marred by the fact that there was building work going on literally right outside our bedroom window. This meant that we were woken up at 7.15am by the sound of hammering, drilling and builders shouting, which did NOT make for a particularly relaxing stay. There was scaffolding right in front of our window, meaning that we had to keep the shutters closed to avoid the builders who were walking past being able to see into our room. On one morning, we also had the electricity to our room cut off for several hours, which was particularly inconvenient as it was first thing in the morning. What was most disappointing was the fact that the owners did not appear to have considered the comfort of the guests in all of this - we were not made aware of the building work at the time of booking, and of course when we discovered it on arriving at Casa Mia, it was too late to cancel without having to pay the full fee for our stay. Whether or not this was deliberate on behalf of the owners, it seemed to us that it would have been sensible to either warn guests in advance, or schedule the building work to occur during rather more sociable hours (eg. from 9am). All in all, we enjoyed the good location and atmosphere of Casa Mia, but found the disturbance caused by the building work rather unpleasant, and also felt that it represented a somewhat worrying lack of concern by the owners for the experience of the guests.

Hotel was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was Ok but mainly sweet rather than savoury items available. Would look for somewhere quieter next time.

While the double room was spacious but noisy, the single room in the roof had a bed that was rather narrow and seemed to be geared more towards children, and there were problems in it with the water, both in terms of supply and heat. Breakfasts were delicious, but we would have appreciated fresh fruit or yogurt rather than so much cake.

This is a great location, especially for visiting Ortygia. Nice breakfast. Be aware that there is no one at the desk over night. Be sure your keys work. A couple with young children could not get into the area where there room was as the key did not work and there was no one to let them in as it was after 9pm. Fortunately, other guests heard the commotion and finally let them in to the area where their room was. Limited parking if you have a car. We were able to park right in front of the building

The whole hotel was much run down from the previous reviews of 2005. We had 2 connected rooms for 3 persons with one very weak air-con unit which was not even sufficient for one room. The toilet mechanism had to be flushed several times to work. The breakfast served only sweets - cakes and jam and bread. Instead of telling us they did not serve cappuccino when we asked for it, they gave us a coffee pot of latte coffee. The place was also under renovation and really was not in a fit state to be functioning as a hotel. The place is so much more run down now than the photo gallery shows. Internet can only be used at the office after breakfast which is not at all convenient if you have a queue of guests and want to start your day or are checking out after breakfast.

This is a very reasonably priced place to stay. It is located on the 3rd floor of a building on the main street in Siracusa. The breakfast and the area it is served in is wonderful. The daughter is very helpful and informative. They do only take cash and the other staff person was less than helpful. The bathroom shower really needs an upgrade and they could cover over the ancient tile floors in the rooms. The room was charming and quiet on the back side of the building. You can easily walk from the train station to the hotel. No elevator so need to carry bags up 2 flights of stairs. If I had to do it over I would have stayed in Noto rather than Siracusa which really could be seen in a couple hours. Lots of trafic and confusing streets after we picked up our car.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Mia. The property is run by a charming multilingual family who live in a sumptuous apartment facing the street. The excellent buffet breakfast is served in their home and taken on the terrace at the back. Guest rooms are in a separate apartment looking onto another street at the back. Furnishings etc are old fashioned but perfectly suitable for people like us. Guests are mainly middle aged English and French. Good place to stay, near station and within easy walk of historic sites.

Very good stay on the whole. Excellent warm and friendly welcome, from both mother and daughter. Superb breakfast with pastry and home-made marmalade. Breakfast is served on a small open-air terrace with very nice decoration. All of this makes it a very pleasant family place within easy walking distance from Ortygia.

Second floor walk up location right in the heart of the city. friendly staff and very accomodating. breakfast was a buffet served in an open air courtyard.Th room was very clean and the bathroom was very large as well. The only drawbacks were the location is difficult to reach by car because of all the one way streets and the hotel does not have a large sign posted outside but rather a small placard standing by the door on the sidewalk. We found entertainment and nightlife a short walk in any direction from the hotel.

Small family run B&B. Friendly, good value, close to everything. Breakfast was also good. Only problem was our ground floor room was damp, tho this was unlikely to be a problem with the other rooms, which were all upstairs.

A very pleasant stay. The only downsides were some renovations taking place alongside and below the hotel during the day, and overnight mosquitos in the bedroom. The hot water was intermittent for me, but always OK for my wife!

My daughter and I felt very comfortable in this charming bed and breakfast. The patio area was converted to an al fresco dining room, and the food was good, served on high quality dishes. The owners went out of their way to assist us with our transportation needs and directions to the sights and to the local laundry facility.

A very nice B&B with helpful manager/owners. Our room, while not spacious, was very nicely done, spotless and fairly quiet. While the parking was on the street there were enough places to park. The only drawback was a lack of an elevator. However, the owner helped us with our luggage. The breakfast was excellent and served from the owners dining room and a terrace was available for eating. I would stay there again.

This is a beautiful hotel, run by a family who are gracious, helpful and - rightfully - proud of their home which they have transformed into a business. They provide a very pleasant, regional breakfast, which may be consumed inside or out. The location is excellent, handy for coach routes, close to the railway station and a short walk to Ortygia. Siracusa is a lovely city with very hospitable and warm people, patient with tourists, and prepared to let you try to speak Italian to them. We look forward to returning in the very near future

A bed and breakfast with great charm. The family were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a large buffet with home made jams and cakes among the usual rolls and biscuits which you could eat either in the dining room or on the terrace. Not far to walk to Ortigia which is lively and full of good restaurants. If you have a car there are a couple of parking spaces reserved for guests just outside on Corso Umberto, but otherwise it can be a nightmare to find somewhere to park - but that goes for anywhere in Siracusa.

Casa Mia was in the heart of Siracusa, but removed enough from the street to be very quiet. The breakfast was very good, and beds comfortable. There are only 2 parking spaces that are reserved for the property, if taken, parking is not easy to find during parts of the day.

The hotel is an apartment in an ancient building right in the center of Syracusa, a few blocks from the bridge to Ortygia. For the price of a triple, our daughter got her own room beside ours. It was great except for two exceptions. People in Syracuse stay up all Saturday night, riding motorscooters and talking loudly. That makes it hard to sleep. Also, we stayed out pretty late ourselves, and the owner was asleep by the time I discovered how cold I was. Just remember to ask for extra blankets and bring slippers if you go in December. Breakfast is served in a dining room full of antiques, and the owner sat with us and told us about her family while we ate her homemade jam. She and her husband would not accept credit cards, but we just went to an ATM and got the cash we owed her. We were able to walk all over Ortygia but had to drive to the Greco-Roman ruins theatre in the northern part of the city. The location and the interesting owner made the noise and the cold worth it. We will go again.

This was a good choice for staying in Syracuse. It is just a few minutes' walk from sites of interest, restaurants and was easy to find. The rooms were clean and breakfast included various items, some of which are handmade by the proprieter.

As the property do not take credit cards, when I booked via Venere I received an email requesting me to phone them the day prior to our arrival to confirm our arrival. When we did this we were told that there was no record of our booking! Luckily they were able to accomodate us but there seems to be some problem with the web booking facility for this property.
