Bed and Breakfast Ortigia Sea View - Siracusa

We had a very pleasant stay at Ortigia Sea View with our hostess Ida who was very welcoming and helpful. The room and bed were very comfortable and we had an excellent view over to the port on the mainland. The shower was adequate. Ida provided an excellent breakfast with fresh orange juice, fruit and home-made jam and introduced us to some Sicilian sweet delicacies. The immediate vicinity of Piazza Cesare Battisita could not be described as pretty but it was interesting and vibrant when the daily market was taking place. Ida's flat is on the fourth floor of a rather down at heel 60's block and the entrance hall smelt of dried rot or something similar. Her flat is nicely decorated, however. The building is well situated for exploring Ortigia island and we were also able to walk fairly easily to the Greek and Roman ruins. Parking is a challenge. We were lucky enough to find a free parking space but when we came to leave we had to wait for about half an hour because we were blocked in by triple parked cars! We had one of our best value meals of our whole holiday at the restaurant which is on the ground floor of Ida's block, just round the corner from her front door. The only other comment I have is that Ida's prices were high compared with other places we stayed on our 10 day holiday in Sicily. Maybe Siracusa is particularly expensive but we paid less for a much posher place in Taormina.

At first is the view to impress you but after that the welcoming is very professional and the "homemade" breakfast is even better... Definitevely Reccomended!

Heating not efficience and noisy Excellent welcoming

Excellent! The owner, Ilda, is charming, hospitable and makes great jams! We felt we where at a friend's house! She was very helpfull for a choice of restaurants, boutiques and itineraries (day trips).The computer was always available and the breakfasts always enjoyable: the table nicely set,a good variety (homemade cake and jams), espresso coffee and a fantastic view of the ocean and port-entry. We enjoyed our balcony and the daily market right at our door.Walking distance to town center.The only feature that needs to be improved: the lobby! Dark, a little shabby and no clear indications of OrtigiaSeaView B&B.
