We expected it to be in someone's house. It was in a flat with rooms and no one there except to let us in and collect the money. So it was a bit strange, but saying that it was clean, the location was good.

This is not a Bed and Breakfast (actually the breakfast is not included) but rather an "affita camere", as it is mentioned when you get in. Very poor quality of beds.

Waaaaaay overpriced for the basic facilities provided. As SOON as I got there the woman came by and told me I had to pay her right then, in cash, which I of course was unprepared for, and it was rude. Then, when I tried to eat breakfast the next day, which was really crappy food to begin with, the cleaning woman came over and communicated that I wasn't allowed to eat the food set out- even though the price I paid included breakfast..... really bad communication and services, really really overpriced. For 5 euros more I had an 100 times better and more luxurious experience at the place I stayed in Milan... this place just pissed me off.

I was really surprised by Iris. The room was perfect and the bathroom really clean. And we would go to Iris any other time when we'll stay in Siena!!! Perhaps also because of the totally perfect stuff!!!!!

The lacotion was a little out of the old city but is wasn't too far to walk. You will need a cab from the train station up the hill, but it's pretty cheap (5 euros). The room was clean and nice but there was no hot water in the shower.

Iris is five minutes walk from the edge of the old town and fiften minutes to the piazza. The building is a modern block of apartments and has the usual associated problems - noise transmission between rooms and a rather soulless feel. The staff were very polite and helpful. The room was a little over-priced, in my opinion, for March. Up the road, a very pleasant ensuite room in a hotel was cheaper but that's my fault for not turning up without a booking to look around. The bus from the station goes right past Iris. Just ask the driver to stop nearby. Julian

I requested and was confirmed a private room with bathroom. When I arrived I was given double room with shared bathroom at the same price. I made verbal complaint but they said that the price stayed the same as I had a bigger room! Wanted private bathroom - could only sleep in one bed!. As it was at least 20 minutes walk from the city centre I did not want to try and look for alternative. The shared "bathroom" was miniscule being the with of the shower.Your choice of questions below make no sense as cannot make decisions on issues until arrival. Where is price and location??? Have just filled in to make response!!!!!

Just one remark: Iris is not a hotel but "affitacamere", "chambres d'hôtes" in french, not even bed and breakfast as you expect it in England, because breakfast is not included in the price, and, by the way, in Italy it is more convenient and nicer to have the breakfast you want in a "bar". Arriving, I was surprised not to find a "hotel", so it was a bit difficult to search and finally, to find "Iris".

We had a nice stay for two night in end june 2005. the room was clean and they give fresh towels and soap everyday and even tidy up the room while cleaning. Sabrina (owner) is v. helpful. She woke up early 7am to help us call a taxi to the station.

Hotel Idris = Hotel what Hotel?! Actually an adjoining appartment to the owners converted to 6 bedrooms with internal shower/wc/basin. Actually quite OK and the VERY BEST cheaper accomodation in Siena. Located over the top of Blockbuster Video Shop in new appartment block. No reception, no breakfast, no lounge actually nothing but your rooms. But very clean, comfortable with good TV. But main road is noisy all night so need to sleep with windows closed and in summer that must be uncomfortable. Actually recommended if you just want a reasonable bed cheap in a major tourist center. PS they only TAKE CASH no visa etc. Cash machine at entrance to block!

Iris is the perfect place for people wanting to spend a couple of nights for cheap price in Siena. The rooms are very clean, the owners are very nice and even though you have to walk for half an hour to reach the Piazza del Campo, it is a very pleasant walk through the mysterious streets of Siena ! Not having the breakfast included is no problem at all as you can go and take a coffee at some local café amongst other local people to emerge you more into the culture !

Iris is far from the city centre, at least 20 minutes walk. It is in a very new, modern appartment complex at a very busy road so if you have a room on the road side it is very noisy!! Rooms are ok but VERY basic and no decoration at all.

The description on the site says it's only like 20 minutes to Piazza del Campo. This turns out to be a lot more. However, if you like walking, the distance is still ok. It was kind of strange that the owner of the place wanted to have our passports as an insurance for our payment unless we paid in advance.

Iris is not including breakfast. However, it is a nice place to stay in Siena. It is a little bit far from the city center (it takes 30 min on foot to/from Il Campo), but it is worth visiting Siena by walk. If you want to go faster, you can take a bus: there is a bus stop just in front of Iris. You can choose a room with or without a bath inside. In our case, it was not inside, but it was very close. In fact, it is a common flat composed of 3 rooms, a bath and a living room. We were sharing the bath with only another one room (there is a "suite" room with bath inside). A fridge can be used (it is highly appreciated in summer) but the kitchen can not. I would recommend Iris B&B to anyone who wants to visit the lovely Siena and does not want to expend much money.

This was a B&B in an appartment block in the modern end of siena - not so good if you want to see the medieval centre. The rooms were wonderfully clean and the welcome was nice but the walls are rather thin and so we were a little disturbed by the people in the next room. However everything else was lovely and we had a good time. Fanatstic power shower mmm.

I didn't understand why I had to send a cheque by post for reservation. Isn't it enough with my credit card number??? I had to ask for a chequebook to my bank and it took ages to arrive as no one use it anymore.

Very friendly & welcoming staff. No real public areas to gather. Rooms split between floors of large building. Clean, well furnished rooms, good shower. Streetside rooms a little noisy. Overall great value for the price. Location great for access to train & center of city. Not to far to walk.

You rent a brand new room. In the building is an elevator. But only the first B of the B&B segment was offered. After we had read the internet description of the room we had the idea that the booked room was with shower and a shared restroom. After arrival we saw the difference. No problem, if all others have a bathroom for their own. But in case not ... If the temperatur is high and you want to open the window befor you go to sleep you will find a road with high frequency. And no A/C in the room.

To say the truth, in Siena "Bed & Breakfast" seems to be an "affittacamere" (rent-a-room) so breakfast is not included. However, the room and the bathroom were tidy and clean and recently refurbished, the employees very kind, the place next to Porta Camollia, that is the very heart of this beautiful city, with a good selection of restaurants and "osterie".
