Thank you to Fulvio, owner and host, who made our stay at Il Vicario memorable. Besides being a wonderful chef, he was always ready with suggestions for itineraries and restaurants in the region. I felt we received very good value for the price. As expected, the accomodations were clean, adequate and rustic. We were made to feel very much at home by Fulvio and his neice, Katia. I will never forget our cooking class with them, the evening was full of good food, good wine and lots of fun lasting until almost midnight!

after staying in city hotels our 2 night stay at Il Vicario was just what we were looking for, a place to enjoy the flavor of the Tuscan countryside. it was a perfect way to end the day after visiting the nearby hill towns, coming back to Il vicario to relax by the pool and later have our gracious hosts prepare a wonderful dinner.

We were in the only downstairs room and unfortunately could hear every footstep upstairs - fortunately those guests slept nearly as long as us so it was not a problem but early risers would disturb the downstairs guests - request an upstairs room. Evening meals provided at Il Vicario were excellent and great value.

These people could not do more for you. Everything was perfect right from day one. I would go back again for sure. The food, rooms, facilities were all first class.

Fulvio is such a splendid host - nothing is too much trouble and the food (and wine!) he provides for the evening meal is excellent. We were given advice on where to visit, how to get there, where to park - what more can visitors want?

A fantastic time during this stay. Fulio and Katia are great and they indeed made the stay an real experience we want to have again. The food was great and so was the services received. Ask Fulio for a tour of his "modern art"....

We felt really comfortable. Beatiful place, beautiful surroundings, and very well treated by Fulvio. He gave us good information. Very good breakfast outside and dinner if you like (25€, but 3 home made dishes). We will miss him.

One of the most pleasant memories of our trip to Tuscany was staying at Il Vicario, particularly the wonderful meals served out on the patio in the evenings, complete with three kinds of wine. The welcome from the host was wonderful. His English is excellent, and he also speaks French fluently.

We had an absolutely wonderful time and the inn keeper was fabulous! Ulignano was located closely to San Gimagnano (sp?) which was very convenient for us.

We loved our one-week stay at Il Vacario in March. Fulvio, his sister and niece are wonderful people AND good cooks! They give cooking classes and offer(optional)dinner to guests. We had dinner there, with wine,6 out of 7 nights, always absolutely delicious. We are still thinking fondly of the family and B&B and hope to return before too long. Unfortunately we only had time for one night here. I wished we could have stayed longer. It was very peaceful and the owner was full of suggestions about things to see in the area. The meal prepared was lovely. Each course came with a local wine.

Our host Fullvio was an amazing character! He made the stay completely enjoyable, with plenty of laughter and great food! The room was well appointed and the opportunity to stay in for dinner - which was absolutely fantastic - was great. Fullvio was so helpful, giving directions and recommendations on best sights and best parking etc. Could not recommend this property highly enough!

Our stay at Il Vicario lived up to all the comments we read on your website. We thought that the setting was beautiful and everything about Il Vicario was fantastic - Katia and Fulvio's hospitality, the room, the swimming pool and the ambiance. In particular, we really enjoyed eating our evening meal outside at Il Vicario with other guests. The food was excellent and really good value and it was good to be given a variety of local wines during the meal. The only problem was that the directions to Il Vicario were a bit misleading. We would thoroughly recommend Il Vicario for anyone with a car and we hope to return in the future.

Our room had cross-ventilation, a plus on the warm summer nights. It was our first time at Il Vicario, and we had a most difficult time finding it according to web directions. The facade in photos was not to be seen from the road. Once there, everything was great - from the welcome, to the delicious dinners, to the pool breaks, gracious directions to cities, free parking, restaurants, etc.

Given a very warm welcome by our host Fulvio and his niece Katia. Both helped to arrange trips and book restaurant tables - nothing was too much trouble. It is simple but charming rustic accommodation set in beautiful scenery and near some of the lovliest places in Italy. We enjoyed meeting other guests from all parts of the world and sharing good food and wine prepared by our host. If you are looking for a smart hotel this is not for you but as a quiet tuscan retreat after days of tourist wandering it was ideal!

What a beautiful place! Located about a 5-minute drive from the gates of San Gimignano, Il Vicario is set on a lane amidst vineyards and rolling fields with a view of San Gimignano and its towers in the distance. The rooms are immaculate, the pool is inviting, the hosts are friendly and hospitable. The house is an old stone farmhouse, but immaculate with great artsy/antique touches. We enjoyed dinner at the B&B one evening for 25 euro pp. 4 courses with paired wines. Wonderful! Went for a run in the morning along the lane. Excellent location for running, cycling, relaxing. We also had our two small dogs and they were warmly welcomed too.

Il Vicario was by far the best B&B of our stay in Italy. Their friendly welcome and a glass of wine on the outdoor terrace was wonderful after a day of traveling there from Rome. The building was a restored vicarage from the 1300's and all the rooms were simply but comfortably decorated. The high point of our stay there was a dinner they prepared (25 euro/person - cheaper than most restaurants in the region) that turned out to be four courses, all of local produce, each with an accompanying local wine and all explained by our host, Fulvio. We can only hope to return there some day. Speaking of which, finding Il Vicario was no problem with a GPS, but would be quite a challenge with a map.

We stayed with Fulvio for the second time and again really enjoyed his hospitality. For an extra 25euro per person he cooked us a 4 course tuscan dinner incl. local wine that was absolutely phantastic. He is a great host and we certainly considered our stay there one of the highlights of our trip.

We traveled with another couple and we both found our rooms beautifully appointed. Alot of thought was given to the little extra details and comfort. But the meals were spectacular - most especially the dinner. We found the host and his niece wonderfully entertaining and accomodating.

We loved this place! Had a bit of trouble finding it, it's down a long shared driveway, but it was stunning. Beautiful surroundings, HUGE room - separate bedroom and lounge/kitchen. We were travelling with our toddler so the extra space was perfect. Excellent value. Such a welcome, they asked if they could prepare us dinner since we arrived late! Great breakfast. Wish we had booked an entire week, it was so relaxing.

Bathrooms are rather small, but this inconvenience is more than made up for by the host, Fulvio, who is extremely warm, helpful and welcoming. He and his sister are excellent cooks and offer dinner with wines for an additional reasonable fee. Tables, chairs and umbrellas are set up outside where we spent a lot of time. The weather was perfect in Sept. It's a very friendly place in a good location for day-tripping. If you've never been to San Gimignano it's only 10 minutes away. There is a pool and the B&B is surrounded by lovely views and quiet roads and fields. Breakfast is nothing special, but Fulvio was very accomodating when a guest requested something more. We would go back again.

If you are looking to stay at a small place with a very homey and welcoming feel then this is it. Very personalized service and they will cook what you like if you wish to stay to dinner. The bathrooms were very basic and could do with renovation but overall we were delighted with our visit there.

This place is away from the crowds and a delightful spot with great views across Tuscan countryside towards San Gimignano. If you are travelling by car this place is ideal as a base for exploring this part of Tuscany but there are walking/cycling routes running by so that we were easily able to go for an early morning walk from Il Vicario into the 'campagne'. The room was very comfortable and appropriately furnished with a rural feel.No air conditioning but we just flung open the window and draped across the diaphanous curtains to keep the minibeasts at bay - and the walls of the building are thick so the room retains a coolness throughout the day. The bed was big, with crisp clean, cool sheets and a delight to lie on. The bathroom and shower were good - plenty of hot water and room to wash/scrub etc in the shower. The use of the swimming pool is a great bonus. The breakfast (out on the terrace) was a generous plate of toast, patries , cakes and biscuits - washed down with fruit juice and coffee and for the one of us that doesn't drink the black stuff a big bottle of mineral water was produced in seconds - no problem, no fuss! The property address and location given on this website (Ulignano) is misleading - it is actually at Sant Andrea j about 3km north of San Gimignano - so locate it on a good quality map before going or phone for directions when in the area. All in all an enjoyable stay and good value for money - thoroughly recommended and would return.

Absolutely perfect. Great views from room and pool. Right in the heart of Tuscany. Also, a wonderful caretaker here. He is very nice, generous and very helpful in making plans in the area. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in this region.
