An OK place if you wish to stay in the surroundings of San Gimignano. The dinner needs to be paid in cash so have money available if you make that choice.

This hotel is situated in a very beautiful part of the world. We stayed in the Annexe which is across the road from the main hotel. The breakfast is just enough to get you started but with excellent service. You are surrounded by nature so it is very quiet. We noticed a little road noise at the weekend in the afternoon but generally it is very quiet. The owner, Alessandro, is very welcoming and ensures you are comfortable. He cooked a fantastic Tuscan meal for the guests and I would recommend this as a very enjoyable experiences with lots of wine! A great base for visiting other locations such as San Gimignano, Sienna, and Volterra.

What a lovely tranquil setting and great for exploring the surrounding area. For us the walk to San Gimignano in the evenings for our meal was too far but our kind host booked us a local taxi. I would recommend this place just a shame it wasn't warm enough in the mornings to have breakfast on the terrace

Excuse my English. The location of the Casa is beautiful, and the casa too, but near the road. So, if you need complete silence, you have not. Alessandro, the owner and manager is a very special guy. You will see when you will meet him. He is not antipathic, not at all. I think it is not his vocation to do this job. He dont' like it, he dont like people. So all is just OK but really nothing is fine. Especially the breakfeast which is really a joke or a scandal, as you wish. In Italia ! we drank every morning a coffee like neverwhere in the world: it was just brown water, but Alessandro said it's American coffee. Poor American people. I prefer Italian coffee in italia. And I am not alone. All the food reminds us the schools diet, with the canned fruits. Alessandro does the "minimum syndical" like we say in French. He does what he has to do, but no more. And so we are disappointed but he did not care because after us will come another people, another tourists. But we, we will never return to his B&(Breakfeast (?!) Dommage! Too bad!

I guess main building facility is cosy , but being stuck out in may when there are'nt many guests (that's the feeling) in Rocca degli Olivi in a smallish room when weather is not so nice, without any feeling of hospitality or even an urgency phone in the room is not my idea of a nice resort! The young woman serving the plain breakfast was very pleasant.

We had a wonderful two nights at Il Casale del Cotone, on the Casale side, in early May.The B&B was just 2.5kms out of San Gimignano, but we found the directions a little confusing, went towards Certaldo in the wrong direction and took an hour to find it (even our GPS couldn't help us). On arrival we met the owner, Alessandro Martelli, who was extremely friendly and welcoming. We liked him immediately (and his English was perfect so communication was not an issue.)The location was lovely (the most beautiful views) and even though it is not far from a main road, it was quiet and peaceful. The room was very comfortable, had a large bathroom, with doors opening onto an outdoor terrace, where breakfast is served in warm weather. There was no breakfast buffet as is customary. Instead, Alessandro served us on our terrace: juice, cereal, croissants etc and a very large cup of excellent cappucino. The highlight of our stay was dinner on Saturday night, cooked and served by Alessandro and his wife. There were 10 guests and we all enjoyed the most delicious 4 course meal, with wine included, for Euro 35 pp. I am fussy and accustomed to eating out, but it was absolutely the best meal we had in our 5 weeks touring Italy - delicious. The other guests were very friendly and it was almost like being at dinner with friends. Alessandro is very happy to chat and told us the history of the property and his family. We would stay there again if we return to Italy.
