WOW! This is the place to be if you are planning a trip to San Gimignano. This is based in the main road and it could be busy during the day. But at night it's very quiet and very relaxing. Giovanna, the owner, will make you feel like you are at home. She's so helpful and polite. Breakfast was really good and the rooms are so spacious. If we come back there this will be the place to stay.

A great, affordable B&B in the middle of San Gimignano - the atmosphere is great. Ms Giavanna does not have very much English, but was easy to communicate with through few itealian words and sign language. Not a great spot if you need a lift to go up one flight of stairs, need absolute silence or a big fry up for breakfat though. The old house is lovely, the atmosphere of te town comes in, and the breakfast is a great (and traditional!). Would recommend for younger couples and young at heart couples.

This was the nicest place we stayed at while we were in Italy. The room was very spacious and nicely furnished. We even had a balcony with table and chairs. The breakfast was good and the location was excellent. The place was easy to find and a very short walk from the bus stop.

"La Casa di Giovanna" is a very beautiful stay dipped in a amazing context, the Breakfast is a normal one except when Signora Giovanna comes with her cake and some "bruschette" made with Tuscanian fantastic oil. I strong recommend to use the parking number 1, the price is 6 euro for all the day instead of 2 euro for hour like the others parkings (2,3).

Service provided was very friendly - we were hosted (offering breakfast) by the lady who is the owner and her son. Our room was very large, bathroom and room clean and nice furnitured. Location is directly in the old city center of San Gimignano, all sightseeing and travel points to reach in two minutes. Only remark is that we have to pay cash - no credit cards were accepted.

La Casa di Giovanna provided a comfortable and quaint location for our three days in San Gimignano. The door opens onto the main walking street of the town so you are immediatelty into the action. Our room was very big with access to a verandah overlooking an internal courtyard / garden. The free car parking arrangements need to be clearly understood - we parked in the wrong carpark on the first night and had to pay a hefty fee. The breakfast was more basic that the hotels we stayed at elsewhere throughout Italy, and I guess that I expected something more from such a highly regarded B&B. Overall though, a very nice stay.

What a wonderful place to stay. Slightly cold as winter drawers in, but pile on the blankets & quilts and you will sleep like you never have before. The peace and quiet, the friendly atmosphere and the breakfast would make me go back for more.

We stayed 2 nights at San Giminiano and the accommodation and town exceeded our expectations. The town is precincted to exclude cars. La Casa di Giovanna is very centrally located which means that you can explore the town and pop back to drop off shopping, use the toilet etc. In the daytime the town is busy, but not overwelming, with day trippers but early in the day and in the evening it is much more romantic and very relaxing. There are plenty of good resturants to discover and shops are plentiful. Mrs Giovanna's English is limited but she is better at English than I am at Italian. She could not have done more to be a great hostess. The room was clean, large and comfortable and breakfast more than adequate; it felt like staying at a friends house.

We loved our stay at La Casa di Giovanna. Our room felt very private and our hosts were very gracious and professional. There was a terrace off our room overlooking a little garden that was a wonderful surprise. However, our favorite part was the delicious breakfast which was a little different everyday! If you stay in San Gimingano, be sure to book a dinner reservation at Le Vecchie Mura. Its terrace has an amazing view.

What a wonderful place.Lovely room, very spacious and clean.Lady who lives there was so nice and sweet. She did not speak english but asked for help from the man next door to explain directions to bus stop. The only complaint was that the street outside the window is noisy in the morning, but it is also a wonderful view of the street below and so I felt it was a fair trade. Fun town to visit and would recomend La Casa di Giovanna to everyone.Just remember that the door to the b&b blends into the other doors, so watch for the building number and don't be afraid to buzz the door intercom.

Best value for price in 3 weeks Italy travel. Great location on interesting, busy walking street but very quiet. Our spacious old fashioned room opened at the back to a charming terrace overlooking vege gardens and ancient buildings, where our artist host served an excellent breakfast.[even ham, cheese and cakes!] As in most 2-3 star B&B's, the beds were hard but the bathroom was large and modern. Alessandro $ wife live on site,so access from street level to the 3 rooms is easy, and only about a dozen steps up.We had 3 lovely days there and would recommend it to anyone.

Superb location and a really nice stay given the price. the breakfasts were lovely, good strong coffee to set you up for the day. The rooms were lovely and clean (and cool), there was some building going on while we were there which was loud at time sbut this is the only very minor quibble. Great value and hhighly recommended as a B&B.

Nous n'avons pas eu une chambre avec un petit déjeuner préparé, mais un très grand et beau deux pièces avec cuisine et de quoi préparer un très sommaire petit déjeuner. The accommodation was excellent - a spacious flat rather than just a room. However, it was somewhat noisy because of its location on a main street but this died down by later in the evening(take your earplugs). Breakfasts were rather disappointing as they consisted of pre-packaged croissants. Also we were asked to pay in cash which we had not been warned of.

Nice place to stay in the centre of beautifull town. Close to bus station to go to Poggibonsi and reach trains. A little noisy, if you are staying in rooms with windows to main street. Breakfast is O.K., but if you are staying longer, you want to change a little the same food every morning.

Apart from some difficulty actually getting into the building and the fact that the two people who settled us into the apartment didn't speak English, this was a highlight of our Tuscan visit. Despite the language barrier this lovely couple were absolutely delightful. We wish we had spent more time in this great spot.

This was our first visit to San Gimignano, but we'll definately go back. It was wonderful. The person in charge was wonderful. As a result of cancelled and rerouted flights my suitcase got lost and we arrived late at night, instead of during the morning. The owner was waiting outside the door in the street for us after we have phoned in to say that we will be late. They also offered to receive my suitcase once it was found again, so that we could go out and enjoy the day, in stead of waiting for the courier to arrive. The breakfasts and service were excellent and the rooms quiet and clean. We can highly recommend La Casa di Giovanna, also because of its wonderful location in the heart of San Gimignano's main street.

It was very difficult finding the parking lot designated for this Bed and Breakfast. We ended up parking close to the B & B, but had to pay. The host was not as friendly as in other places we had stayed throughout Italy. The room was very nice and spacious; breakfast typical, but good. It is well situated within San Gimignano and we did walk throughout the Town, which is certainly another wonderful medieval city not to be missed. We took a tour in one of the museum buildings that was most informative and well worth the price. It is a very busy tourist area because of the unique towers, but again, not to be missed.

The hotel was well located in the center of San Gimignano, a short walk up from the main tourist entrance. Don't try to drive to it. Park outside and walk your bags up. The hotel provides tickets for free parking in a lot about 10 minutes away. The mother and son who owned it are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is fairly minimal but OK and is served in a small dining area in the mother's apartment. We started with a large room overlooking the main street but it was fairly noisy especially at 6 AM when the street cleaning machine came by. They switched us to another room that was quieter and overlooked a common patio. We used the B & B as a base to explore Tuscany and visited Sienna and Florence easily from there. We had a car but there is a bus to the trains in a nearby town.

This small B&B is in an excellent location on the main pedistrianised street. The room was spacious & clean. There was a shared outside balcony overlooking a small garden. Despit its central location the was quiet & restful. The only thing that let the B&B down was the breakfast. I am sure that the lady running this B&B in her own apartment suite was trying her best, but things like dry bread being served on each of the 3 days of our stay just took the edge of the quality of service provided.

Family of 3 visiting San Gimingnano for the first time. We had two huge connecting rooms that opened onto a balcony overlooking a fine vegetable garden and a quiet street with a view of the hills - couldn't be better. Senora greeted us at the door when we arrived, and treated us as real guests in her home, a finely furnished town house (17th century?). We recommend La Casa Di Giovanna very highly. The town is very interesting, especially how it becomes a quiet hill town when the tour buses leave around 5 p.m. Note that Senora does not do credit cards, but there are three bank machines in the town's piazza.

This is a special place...we enjoyed the private respite this place envoked. The owner is italian speaking only, however an english speaking family member was present at our arrival time for Q&A. The parking situation was a bit confusing and should be explained in full detail. Basically, park in the general public area, walk to the townhouse and they will provide info on parking (which is FREE), just be sure to ask questions. The room is spacious and lovely with an enclosed sun patio that looks out onto a lovely garden! The mattress is soft, so not the best for folks with a back problem requiring a firm mattress. The breakfast was served in the owner's own breakfast nook, so you feel like a welcomed member of the "family" and was quite hearty and delicious! Kodos to the Giovanna's!

We stayed at La Casa for only one night but I wish we could have stayed for a week! The room was more like a small flat with a separate sitting area and a small kitchen where we could prepare our own breakfast. The bathroom was very clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom furnished in a tasteful rustic way. The location was perfect - just a short walk from the main car park and although it's on the main street there was no noise during the night. The only drawback is that the building has no lift and there were a lot of stairs to reach our room so carrying a heavy suitcase can be hard. The sweet old lady who runs the place speaks no English but we managed to communicate perfectly using a few Italian words and a lot of body language. I highly reccommend La Casa to anyone wishing to stay in the village.

Most welcoming and familiar atmosphere. Nice breakfast. Twin bed in a spacious room with access to a terrace. Not so difficult to find if you are aware of the discrete sign on the entrance door which we were informed by others on this review site. Public car parking available outside the town wall. Most expensive at P2 Parcheggio Montemaggio, closest to Porta San Giovanni, 15 Euro per day. Cheapest at P1 Parcheggio Guibileo, 5 Euro per day, less than 10 min walk from the Porta.

We travelled Italy by public transport and arrived in SanGimignano by bus. Finding La Casa is not too difficult. Go through the town gate and walk up the main street. The house numbers are crazy. Just keep walking and Giovanna’s Casa [its an apartment] is on the left near the first bar with tables in the street. Our room had a very good private shower and toilet. The room itself was quality – high ceilings, good furniture and good lighting. The windows, with its own shutters, looked down onto the street, which was an entertainment in itself. Traffic noise is only for a short time in the morning delivering to shops. Thereafter, there’s no traffic. The place is excellent value. Before we arrived, we did wonder about staying in San Gim – the tourists start early – but we liked it very much. Few tourists get into the many back streets and one day we took a quiet walk into the country while on another we hired bicycles. When we got back to San Gim in the evenings most of the tourists had caught their buses and were gone. Of course, Giovanna was a treasure. I don’t eat so much meat and one morning she provided a wonderful spread with boiled eggs and cheese just for me. What can I say? Thanks, Julian

This was our favorite accommodation from our two weeks in Italy. The town, the rooms, the rest of Giovanna's home, the breakfast, and especially Giovanna herself made our stay here very memorable. The room and bathroom were tidied daily and fresh towels provided. The B&B was very easy to find, just a short walk inside the town walls, and San Gimingano is a great place to call home while exploring the rest of the Tuscan countryside.

What a great place in a lovely town. We had a room with a little terrace, spacious bathroom, a bed set up for our son. Everything very clean. Breakfast was good, meats, cheese, bruchetta, pastries-enough to keep us going through the day. In our ten day trip of Italy, travelling with a five year old, we would have to say this was the best place, and best value for money. We wished we had booked two nights here as this town is quite lovely and a nice break from busy Florence and Venice. My husband speaks Italian so conversing with the hostess was no problem. She was delightful. Would definetely recommend.

This was a great place right inside the walls of San Gimignano. The numbering system was weird & the place is not well marked so we had a hard time finding it, but after asking some store owners on the street we finally found it. The room we got was huge! It could have slept at least 6 people. It had a living room, kitchen, bedroom & one of the nicest bathrooms we had during our stay in Italy!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Casa di Giovanna. It met our needs quite sufficiently, and for a short term stay, we would stay there again.

Actually, I hesitate to give this small B&B such an excellent rating because I fear there will be "no room at the inn" the next time I try to stay there. A traveller could ask for nothing better.

The breakfast was one of the best we had in 2 weeks in Italy. The location was excellent, just inside the city walls. Parking (outside the walls) was expensive, 15 euros for overnight. The tourist information office said that it would be a maximum of 5 euros for overnight, but they were wrong. There was no hair dryer in the bathroom. My German-made hair dryer did not fit into the odd electrical outlet. However, Senora loaned me an adapter. The EC should standardize outlets!

Excellent value at 65 euros for a double and 50 for a single, located inside the walls of San Gimignano. Like many small lodgings in towns in Tuscany, the B&B is within in a property that is itself within a very old multi-apartment building, and several keys are required to make it through the front door to the B & B and finally to your room. The rooms have lovely old windows and high ceilings, although not the luxurious decor and furnishings you might expect at much more expensive place. At these prices and in one of the most-visited little tourist towns in Tuscany, it's not a luxury hotel, but a good bargain where you can practice your limited Italian with your Italian-only-speaking hostess, who greeted my feeble attempts to put the linguistic skills nurtured by my "Learn Italian in Your Car!" CD with a surprised and happy "You speak Italian!" (translation) As others have mentioned, there's also a young man who speaks English living in an attached apartment who seems to be on hand to help out much of the time.

I loved staying in San Gimignano, and this place is very well located, both within the city, and as a base to visit the rest of Tuscany. We were usually able to find parking spots outside of the town's lots (and thus didn't have to pay parking fees), and still didn't have to walk that far to get to our car. Breakfast was pretty good. Our hostess was very nice, but didn't speak any English. She does have someone who can translate for her if need be, but we were able to communicate the essentials to each other without problems. The room was huge, which was great for our son to run around in when he got sick of being in the stroller all day!

Great value right in San Gimignano. Relatively easy to access via the free bus from the lower carpark, or via a short haul up cobbled laneways from a restricted parking area at the side of the walls (drive down the narrow laneway to the left of Porta San Giovanni). Look carefully for numbers and names on the huge entrance doors in Via San Giovanni. If you have problems with stairs this may not be the best place for you. Our rooms opened onto a windowed terrace area which is added value rain or shine (but no Tuscan vista). Stongly recommended.

First of all, parking is confusing, so request instructions before leaving. Signora Giovanna speaks no English, but her grandson, Andrea, does, and luckily he was there on check-in. Rooms are on the floor above groung level, but after check-in, that was no problem. San G is a beautiful city from which we made day trips- on the bus and by car (no rail service). Signora had very good breakfasts and was very friendly. Ask Andrea for directions to Chiribiri Restaurant. Overall, very good value, would recommend it and would stay there again.

We had a wonderful time and Alesandro could not have been more welcoming or helpful. The location is fabulous for Firenze, Sienna and exploring the Tuscan hills. The only small problem for us was finding out at the end they did not take credit cards. Overall we couldn't have been happier with the facilities and our experience.

A lovely Rooom right on the main street that comes into San Gimgiano, I have nothing but praise for this lovely lady and her very clean property. She doesn't speak much English but her son next door does. You get by she is very sweet and serves a breakfast fit for a King. Great Coffee, Orange Juice, 2 different Tuscan meats (Ham and or Salami), Cheese and Bread with Butter and Jams as well as pastries and the occasional boiled egg or yogurt. The only thing I would say watch out for is the parking prices. You can't park anywhere else apart from the public car parks which for the very close one is 2 Euro's per hour or 1 Euro per hour down the hill.

La Casa di Giovanna is very well situated, in San Gimignano main street. Yet, you must park your car quite far away if you don't want to pay 15 euros a night in one of the car parks surrounding the city walls! The house is an old one, with typical toscan architechture. The bedroom was spacious (with high ceilings), comfortable, and clean. The breakfast offered was hearty (including ham and cheese). However, we find the price a bit too expensive as it was February ...

It could really be a very nice place...BUT ! There is a permanent and heavy smell of tobacco in the best room and the lounge (street side) and a terrible kitchen smell in the two other smaller rooms (veranda side) when the veranda is closed. I guess it should be better when the windows can be kept wide open, but we were there in winter. Another thing : the car parkings are very expensive in San Gimignano

It was a very comfortable place. I felt like I was living with a nice Italian family. The room I had was the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. I will definitely stay at La Casa di Giovanni when I get back to Sam Gimignano again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in San Gimignano at La Casa du Giovanna. This was the best place we stayed in Italy and the price was the lowest. The rooms are very spacious and there's a balcony that overlooks her vegetable garden. Her place is so convenient...right on the main street of San Gimignano so you just step out the door and enjoy shopping and dining. There was no noise at all as San Gimignano rolls up the carpet at night around dinner hour. The breakfasts were the best that we experienced on our trip. The mother fixed bruchetta, ham, cheeses and various rolls. The coffee was superb. Juice was also provided. The family doesn't know English but were very gracious and we were able to communicate what we needed. San Gimignano got quite chilly while we were there, (Oct 11-14th) but there was no heat in the rooms. Apparently, you can't turn the heat on in San Gimignano until November 1st. They provided plenty of blankets so we were nice and comfortable while sleeping. I'd definitely recommend this place and plan on staying there again when I'm in beautiful San Gimignano again.

Because of the layout of the adjoining room there was no privacy on the terrace for the seperate guests. At times you really felt like you had to close your door completely to have any privacy. We had rented a private apartment earlier in the week, also inside the towns walls which was the same price, much bigger, nicer atmosphere, private with a big terrace that had a great view of the towers!

This hotel works in conjunction with the apartments offered upstairs. We didn't actually stay in Casa Giovanna but did get a look into their rooms and they looked beautiful. The apartment we stayed in was spectacular. Very charming, but HUGE and for 65 euros, who could beat it. The BEST place we stayed in on our 2 week holiday!!!

The room and terrace were really beautiful. Their warm and welcoming style could not be compared to what I had expected from the pictures. Having breakfast on the terrace was nice, but the breakfast itself was certainly the best I ever had on Italy-holidays. I was just disappointed that I had planned to stay only one night....

We were so impressed with this place. The folk were lovely, the whole thing a great start to the holiday. There was building going on opposite but not their fault and we did kill a huge beetle! But all things considered, great.
