My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights in January, so the town was very quiet, even during the day. The B & B is very easy to find as it is in the main street just up from the bus stop. We had a back bedroom (very quiet) which was connected to a closed-in balcony which could be shared by another room. This was a pleasant place to sit as the sun was setting but didn't really have a great view. Despite Giovanna not speaking Italian, she was welcoming and we managed to communicate effectively. Breakfast was good and typical of what is offered in Italy. The only problem we had was that the lock on our bedroom door was hard to open at times but hopefully Giovanna has fixed this as she knew it was a problem. I would totally recommend La Casa Di Giovanna.

Great location, San Gimignano's main street. The owners suggested us Il Chiribiri a very nice restaurant not far from it. Very nice restaurant, not pricey and very good food. A big bedroom and very good bed which was a relief after a few very bad ones. The only but I can say is that they didn't offered us the free parking. Anyway I would totally recommend it.

Super location.... Naturally, being in the centre of town, there's lots of activity and therefore associated sounds..... breakfast very good and coffee super.... car parking was included in price which was greatly appreciated.... Would definitely recommend Casa di Giovanna

The communication was a little bit difficult, because Giovanna only speaks Italian. But on the whole it was a pleasure staying in that b&b.

This was our first visit to San Gimignano. What a special place it is. Our BnB at La Casa di Giovanna was ideal in every regard. The town takes on a different atmosphere at night and we loved being a part of it. We were even able to do some laundry and hang it out to dry italian style. A memorable stay. Thank you.

A great location right on main street which was great for walking everywhere. The lady who runs it was lovely even though she spoke no English, we got by between us. A lovely big bedroom and nice breakfast. Only one drawback in that it is very noisy but if you wear earplugs then it's no problem.

Me, my husband, my daughter and my mother stayed three nights at La Casa di Giovanna. Everything was perfect. It's an old building from the 15th century very well preserved. It is run by Alexandro and his sweet mother. Both of them were very helpful and gentle. Alexandro speaks english well and explained everything about the surroundings and the parking area. They offer free parking to their guests. His mother made us a fantastic and different breakfast every morning and even though she didn't speak english at all we could communicate with her perfectly. We highly recommend it for one or several days. We will certainly go back some time.

Thought this was a lovely place to stay. Right in the heart of the main street of San Gimignano. Giovanna was very welcoming and pleasant, although she spoke very little English we managed to communicate. The room was huge, clean and looked out onto the main street. Superb breakfast, the best I had in two weeks in Italy, melon, cheese, salami, bread and croissants etc. Wished I could have stayed another night. Would highly recommend staying here to experience the 'real' San Gimignano once the day trippers have gone home. Was able to pop back as well during the day as its so close to all that you need to see.

Our rooms were at the back, overlooking the garden. Very peaceful and quiet. The signora was very welcoming. Breakfast was excellent. Staying behind one of the closed doors of San Giminagno was a real treat that allowed us to enjoy the city after most of the people had gone.

Giovanna speaks little English but was a gracious host for the day and night we spent at her B&B. Make sure you park in the lot designated P1, Guibileo. You cannot drive inside the city walls, but there is a bus to take you and your bags. Get off at the first stop inside the walls. It's a short walk; the door is on the left side of the street at #58. There is free WiFi, but you will need to wait until her son gets home from work to get a password. Breakfast included ham, cheese, bread and a packaged croissant. San Gimignano is worth a day's visit to see the towers, but there's not much else there. We had dinner at Peruca` and gelato at the "famous" gelateria in the piazza. Both were terrific.

If you are going to stay overnight in San Gimignano (which we recommend as late in the evening and early in the morning is the only time to see the town without the tourist invasion) - this is the place. It's a bed and breakfast in Giovanna's beautiful home situated right on the main street inside the walls. The room was 4 metres from floor to ceiling and in genuine style and the bathroom (which is in the room) was in perfect condition. For breakfast signora Giovanna served us a wonderful plate with prosciutto, cheese, melon, bread, yoghurt, orange juice and coffee. She was very friendly but doesn't speak a word of English but we communicated with sign language and it worked out. If you arrive by car, park it in the p-area no 1 down the hill and you will get the parking for free. We were a bit lazy and put it in p-area no 2 (further up the walls) and paid about 10 euros for a night. For dinner, Le Vecchie Mura is a must, the best dinner we've had in Italy. We sat inside but there is also a terrass with a splendid view.

We stayed for 2 nights in San Gimignano. This B & B is right on the main street. There is no A/C or even a fan. It was VERY HOT and the street noise both late at night and early in the morning was unbearable!! The street cleaners start going up and down the street several times beginning at 5:30 a.m. The mattress was old, the pillows smelled, the room was musty, there was hair in the sink, and there was no hairdryer. The woman who served us breakfast was very nice, but spoke no English. The breakfast was good. We only saw the man who spoke English once, and he was not friendly.

This is a family run B&B. We met the mother and son. Very pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious, with a lovely balcony. The son is an accomplished artist, with the rooms adorned by his paintings. The breakfast was quite adequate, and the location in San Gimignano was excellent in the middle of the old town on the main street. The large balcony was a plus, allowing us to sit in the sun and read, write, etc.

WOW! This is the place to be if you are planning a trip to San Gimignano. This is based in the main road and it could be busy during the day. But at night it's very quiet and very relaxing. Giovanna, the owner, will make you feel like you are at home. She's so helpful and polite. Breakfast was really good and the rooms are so spacious. If we come back there this will be the place to stay.

A great, affordable B&B in the middle of San Gimignano - the atmosphere is great. Ms Giavanna does not have very much English, but was easy to communicate with through few itealian words and sign language. Not a great spot if you need a lift to go up one flight of stairs, need absolute silence or a big fry up for breakfat though. The old house is lovely, the atmosphere of te town comes in, and the breakfast is a great (and traditional!). Would recommend for younger couples and young at heart couples.

"La Casa di Giovanna" is a very beautiful stay dipped in a amazing context, the Breakfast is a normal one except when Signora Giovanna comes with her cake and some "bruschette" made with Tuscanian fantastic oil. I strong recommend to use the parking number 1, the price is 6 euro for all the day instead of 2 euro for hour like the others parkings (2,3).

Service provided was very friendly - we were hosted (offering breakfast) by the lady who is the owner and her son. Our room was very large, bathroom and room clean and nice furnitured. Location is directly in the old city center of San Gimignano, all sightseeing and travel points to reach in two minutes. Only remark is that we have to pay cash - no credit cards were accepted.

La Casa di Giovanna provided a comfortable and quaint location for our three days in San Gimignano. The door opens onto the main walking street of the town so you are immediatelty into the action. Our room was very big with access to a verandah overlooking an internal courtyard / garden. The free car parking arrangements need to be clearly understood - we parked in the wrong carpark on the first night and had to pay a hefty fee. The breakfast was more basic that the hotels we stayed at elsewhere throughout Italy, and I guess that I expected something more from such a highly regarded B&B. Overall though, a very nice stay.

We stayed 2 nights at San Giminiano and the accommodation and town exceeded our expectations. The town is precincted to exclude cars. La Casa di Giovanna is very centrally located which means that you can explore the town and pop back to drop off shopping, use the toilet etc. In the daytime the town is busy, but not overwelming, with day trippers but early in the day and in the evening it is much more romantic and very relaxing. There are plenty of good resturants to discover and shops are plentiful. Mrs Giovanna's English is limited but she is better at English than I am at Italian. She could not have done more to be a great hostess. The room was clean, large and comfortable and breakfast more than adequate; it felt like staying at a friends house.

We loved our stay at La Casa di Giovanna. Our room felt very private and our hosts were very gracious and professional. There was a terrace off our room overlooking a little garden that was a wonderful surprise. However, our favorite part was the delicious breakfast which was a little different everyday! If you stay in San Gimingano, be sure to book a dinner reservation at Le Vecchie Mura. Its terrace has an amazing view.

What a wonderful place.Lovely room, very spacious and clean.Lady who lives there was so nice and sweet. She did not speak english but asked for help from the man next door to explain directions to bus stop. The only complaint was that the street outside the window is noisy in the morning, but it is also a wonderful view of the street below and so I felt it was a fair trade. Fun town to visit and would recomend La Casa di Giovanna to everyone.Just remember that the door to the b&b blends into the other doors, so watch for the building number and don't be afraid to buzz the door intercom.

Best value for price in 3 weeks Italy travel. Great location on interesting, busy walking street but very quiet. Our spacious old fashioned room opened at the back to a charming terrace overlooking vege gardens and ancient buildings, where our artist host served an excellent breakfast.[even ham, cheese and cakes!] As in most 2-3 star B&B's, the beds were hard but the bathroom was large and modern. Alessandro $ wife live on site,so access from street level to the 3 rooms is easy, and only about a dozen steps up.We had 3 lovely days there and would recommend it to anyone.

The accommodation was excellent - a spacious flat rather than just a room. However, it was somewhat noisy because of its location on a main street but this died down by later in the evening(take your earplugs). Breakfasts were rather disappointing as they consisted of pre-packaged croissants. Also we were asked to pay in cash which we had not been warned of.

This was our first visit to San Gimignano, but we'll definately go back. It was wonderful. The person in charge was wonderful. As a result of cancelled and rerouted flights my suitcase got lost and we arrived late at night, instead of during the morning. The owner was waiting outside the door in the street for us after we have phoned in to say that we will be late. They also offered to receive my suitcase once it was found again, so that we could go out and enjoy the day, in stead of waiting for the courier to arrive. The breakfasts and service were excellent and the rooms quiet and clean. We can highly recommend La Casa di Giovanna, also because of its wonderful location in the heart of San Gimignano's main street.

It was very difficult finding the parking lot designated for this Bed and Breakfast. We ended up parking close to the B & B, but had to pay. The host was not as friendly as in other places we had stayed throughout Italy. The room was very nice and spacious; breakfast typical, but good. It is well situated within San Gimignano and we did walk throughout the Town, which is certainly another wonderful medieval city not to be missed. We took a tour in one of the museum buildings that was most informative and well worth the price. It is a very busy tourist area because of the unique towers, but again, not to be missed.

The hotel was well located in the center of San Gimignano, a short walk up from the main tourist entrance. Don't try to drive to it. Park outside and walk your bags up. The hotel provides tickets for free parking in a lot about 10 minutes away. The mother and son who owned it are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is fairly minimal but OK and is served in a small dining area in the mother's apartment. We started with a large room overlooking the main street but it was fairly noisy especially at 6 AM when the street cleaning machine came by. They switched us to another room that was quieter and overlooked a common patio. We used the B & B as a base to explore Tuscany and visited Sienna and Florence easily from there. We had a car but there is a bus to the trains in a nearby town.

This small B&B is in an excellent location on the main pedistrianised street. The room was spacious & clean. There was a shared outside balcony overlooking a small garden. Despit its central location the was quiet & restful. The only thing that let the B&B down was the breakfast. I am sure that the lady running this B&B in her own apartment suite was trying her best, but things like dry bread being served on each of the 3 days of our stay just took the edge of the quality of service provided.

The numbers on the houses in the street in San Gimignano do NOT follow logically so it was not easy to find the house. We had to ask for help from a charming shopkeeper.

We loved La Casa di Giovanna. We were greeted by our hostess who immediately showed us to our room and helped us figure out how to use the keys. The room was extremely spacious and the bathroom was very clean. We had a great window that looked right onto one of the main thoroughways in San Gimignano so we were able to look out and watch people. The bed was very comfy and breakfast the next morning was fresh and delicious.

Just walk up the main street and check the names on the doors and you'll have no trouble finding the house. the hostess is lovely, just lovely. we overlooked the main street and enjoyed the bustle below as well as the locals after the tours left the town. the best gelato is just up ahead. painting in the squares was a pleasure. dinner at il pina was lovely. a smart silversmith jewelry shop is off the alley to the right. i met the artist and he speaks english well. i love the ring that i bought, even though my husband hasn't noticed it yet.

Excellent accomodation with two large double rooms with a shared covered patio to sit and enjoy a drink. The owner was a lovely Italian lady who spoke little English but was very friendly and provided an excellent breakfast. Best tasting tomato bruschetta I've ever had. Straight from the garden! Would recommend this B&B to anyone. Right in the heart of the old town and very clean and comfortable rooms.

Huge, immaculate and charming room, plus the most sumptuous breakfasts of our trip (fresh provolone, melon, ham, tomatoes, bread...) The hostess was very kind and I would heartily recommend this Bed and breakfast to anyone.

Family of 3 visiting San Gimingnano for the first time. We had two huge connecting rooms that opened onto a balcony overlooking a fine vegetable garden and a quiet street with a view of the hills - couldn't be better. Senora greeted us at the door when we arrived, and treated us as real guests in her home, a finely furnished town house (17th century?). We recommend La Casa Di Giovanna very highly. The town is very interesting, especially how it becomes a quiet hill town when the tour buses leave around 5 p.m. Note that Senora does not do credit cards, but there are three bank machines in the town's piazza.

This is a special place...we enjoyed the private respite this place envoked. The owner is italian speaking only, however an english speaking family member was present at our arrival time for Q&A. The parking situation was a bit confusing and should be explained in full detail. Basically, park in the general public area, walk to the townhouse and they will provide info on parking (which is FREE), just be sure to ask questions. The room is spacious and lovely with an enclosed sun patio that looks out onto a lovely garden! The mattress is soft, so not the best for folks with a back problem requiring a firm mattress. The breakfast was served in the owner's own breakfast nook, so you feel like a welcomed member of the "family" and was quite hearty and delicious! Kodos to the Giovanna's!

We stayed at La Casa for only one night but I wish we could have stayed for a week! The room was more like a small flat with a separate sitting area and a small kitchen where we could prepare our own breakfast. The bathroom was very clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom furnished in a tasteful rustic way. The location was perfect - just a short walk from the main car park and although it's on the main street there was no noise during the night. The only drawback is that the building has no lift and there were a lot of stairs to reach our room so carrying a heavy suitcase can be hard. The sweet old lady who runs the place speaks no English but we managed to communicate perfectly using a few Italian words and a lot of body language. I highly reccommend La Casa to anyone wishing to stay in the village.

Most welcoming and familiar atmosphere. Nice breakfast. Twin bed in a spacious room with access to a terrace. Not so difficult to find if you are aware of the discrete sign on the entrance door which we were informed by others on this review site. Public car parking available outside the town wall. Most expensive at P2 Parcheggio Montemaggio, closest to Porta San Giovanni, 15 Euro per day. Cheapest at P1 Parcheggio Guibileo, 5 Euro per day, less than 10 min walk from the Porta.

We travelled Italy by public transport and arrived in SanGimignano by bus. Finding La Casa is not too difficult. Go through the town gate and walk up the main street. The house numbers are crazy. Just keep walking and Giovanna’s Casa [its an apartment] is on the left near the first bar with tables in the street. Our room had a very good private shower and toilet. The room itself was quality – high ceilings, good furniture and good lighting. The windows, with its own shutters, looked down onto the street, which was an entertainment in itself. Traffic noise is only for a short time in the morning delivering to shops. Thereafter, there’s no traffic. The place is excellent value. Before we arrived, we did wonder about staying in San Gim – the tourists start early – but we liked it very much. Few tourists get into the many back streets and one day we took a quiet walk into the country while on another we hired bicycles. When we got back to San Gim in the evenings most of the tourists had caught their buses and were gone. Of course, Giovanna was a treasure. I don’t eat so much meat and one morning she provided a wonderful spread with boiled eggs and cheese just for me. What can I say? Thanks, Julian

Everything we expectd in San Gimignano, room was lovely and quiet and great location. While conversing with Senora Giovanna was difficult because of our lack of Italian we managed and she was charming.

We stayed one night at this B&B. Certainly a good choice and well worth it. The highlight though certainly be the breakfast! This house is owned by an old lady and his son and family. they are all very friendly, and the son speaks english. there is a good restaurant nearby i.e. Chiribiri!. No doubt I will come back to this B&B should i return to San Gimignano.

This was our favorite accommodation from our two weeks in Italy. The town, the rooms, the rest of Giovanna's home, the breakfast, and especially Giovanna herself made our stay here very memorable. The room and bathroom were tidied daily and fresh towels provided. The B&B was very easy to find, just a short walk inside the town walls, and San Gimingano is a great place to call home while exploring the rest of the Tuscan countryside.

What a great place in a lovely town. We had a room with a little terrace, spacious bathroom, a bed set up for our son. Everything very clean. Breakfast was good, meats, cheese, bruchetta, pastries-enough to keep us going through the day. In our ten day trip of Italy, travelling with a five year old, we would have to say this was the best place, and best value for money. We wished we had booked two nights here as this town is quite lovely and a nice break from busy Florence and Venice. My husband speaks Italian so conversing with the hostess was no problem. She was delightful. Would definetely recommend.

We were most pleased with our stay at this b and b, our room must have been the best location with ability to peer directly down to main street. we had slight problem with finding the correct door due to address markings but area people were most helpful... would look forward to staying here again and highly recommend.

This is the best place to stay in San Gim, it is so reasonable and central. Take a phrase book if you have no Italian as the lady who runs it has very little English. She is very kind and you will get by.
