The most important aspect of Federici Guest House is Fabio the owner. He is like an expensive concierge with a warm smile and quick laugh. He gave us all the information we needed, and offered suggestions for things to do and places to visit, including restaurants. The guest rooms were immaculate, breakfast delicious and location ideal.

Large rooms which was nice. A metro stop is located directly in front of the property which made it totally convenient for getting anywhere. The price was extremely reasonable for location. If you are a family and need two rooms - you might want to be specific that they are together. This is a b&b located in an apartment building so you have tenants all around. We loved the ambiance and quaintness of the location. We loved staying there and would definitely stay there again if we were to return. (The showers are tiny so be prepared) We loved it.

Fabio- the owner of this guesthouse is a nice and very knowledgeable guy. He has excellent recommendations and was happy to answer all our questions and assist us with phone calls, bookings etc. The room is nice and clean, with a very nice bathroom. Breakfast is nice - especially the idea of a big dining room where all the guests can sit around and talk and share experiences. The location is very good, right next to the metro station and very close to the Vatican - 10 minutes walk. We would definitely go there again.

This was our second visit to Federici in nine months. Our experience first time round was very good, so we did not hesitate to book a second stay. The location is excellent - right opposite the OTTAVIANO metro station. Unfortunately this time clean towels were not provided every day as indicated on the notice in the room, and the airconditioner was out of order. It remains a nice place to stay with an equally good breakfast.

Federici is up three flights or you can use the small elevator. It is OK, I would give it 1 1/2 stars or so. Bed was a fairly well-used matress on a platform; shower water pressure was minimal. Otherwise, it was fine for a one-night stay - good neighborhood, close to the Vatican. Federici was nice and accomodating.

The host and the personal vas very obliging ang helpful, as well as clever. The breakfasts around a large table generated contact with other guests, and we tink of that as a pre. The metrostation Ottavio/San Pietro was 5 steps away from the hotel and it was only a short walk to the buses at "Piazzo del Risorgimento". Bus no 492 takes you from there straight to the historic center of Rome. The other guests was a mixture in age and nations, I think this place is suitabel for persons of any age. Do not expect luxury, but you will get a clean and ok place to rest after a nice day in Rome. We stayed her for one week. This place give just value for money, and we recommend a stay here. We was two elderly but fit norwegian couples.

This is an excellent venue from which to explore Rome. The entrance is right opposite the Metro station Ottaviano which is very convenient coming from Rome's Termini train station. We met an American couple as well as a German/Polish couple at the breakfast table and had interesting conversations over an excellent breakfast. The owner was very helpful with tips and advice on Rome's tourist attractions. I can strongly recommend Federici.

I've stayed at Federici from 31st May to 4th June with my dear love. Fabio was very helpful and kind. He showed us everything on the map and gave us useful advices. With his help, we saved hours as we knew where to go and what to see. The breakfast was more than perfect... that says everything. The location is 1 min. to the metro, but in a quiet and safe place with kind and warm feelings in the place. I recommend to everyone who would like to stay at a nice, clean place close to the metro and to shopping areas. Thanks for everything! Cheers,

Federici is in a very convenient, if slightly sleazy location near the Vatican. The room was spacious and although on a busy street very quiet (all rooms face an uninspiring courtyard). For us the room was too dark to be pleasant to be in. The other complaint (and we read this in other reviews) was that the bed was sooo hard, we had to request a doona to put over the mattress. Now we like a firm bed, but this was like sleeping on the floor. However, Fabio the owner was were very nice and accommodating about it. Breakfast is from 8.30 to 9.30, which, if you are in the know, gives you time to walk down to St Peter's square and visit the Basillica for free before the crowds (it opens at 7am, but only the main part). Federici is right at the Metro, and this is a convenience that makes up for a lot. We became Metro experts in a very short time. A good value hotel in a convenient location.

This B&B is really worth the prize. Just a short walk to the St Peter's square and with the metro station right outside the door. Note that the rooms are facing the inner yard which makes the nights completely quiet. You even have a fridge in the hallway which you are allowed to use. I really recommend this B&B!

B&B Federici was recommended to me by some of my friends who visited Italy a couple of years ago--and it turned out to be a wise recommendation. Though not a luxury, Federici is definitely value-for-money. Its proximity to the Metro station is a great convenience, and it offered the best breakfast among the places we stayed during our trip. Last but not least, Fabio, the host and his staff are very friendly and helpful.

We booked for 3 nights. By Metro (only 10m from the front-door) you reach the spanish steps in about 10 min. Or you walk to St. Peter in 10min. Also the entrance to the Vatican-Museum is very close. Ask Fabio for a good Pizza-Restaurant next to the B&B. My choice: Pizza "to-go" just around the corner in a little bakery. You pay by weight!

I would like to recommend B&B Federici to everybody traveling to Rome. It is not in the historical centre, but in a walking distance of Vatican & Castel San Angelo, and it also has a very cosy located Metro stop, taking you to Pzza del' Popolo, Spagna, Trevi, Termini, Colosseum... Fabio is a very welcoming & nice person, who will help you with every question you might have. If you are considering historical centre slumholes vs Federici, my advise is to choose Federici (pls have in mind that I've been to Rome many times, both in 5 sqm rooms and more luxurious ones)

The B&B is perfect both for its location and for its condicion: the B&B is less than 20 m far from the metro station called Ottaviano and about 1 km far form the Vatican walls. The building is old, but the B&B itself has been recently renewed and reorganized and it is perfectly modern. The host is a warm and kind man, helpful and professional and his assistant as well. The room was spacious and clean, the loo was more than acceptable, the bed was comfortable, the closet was of an avarage size. Breakfast was following the continental fashion: there was a great variety of food (tea, coffee, yogurt, fruit, salami, cheese, bread, butter, jams, spreadable chocolate [similar to nutella], cereals [only simple cornflakes]). The time for breakfast was reasonable. My judgement is seriosly positive.

This was one of the nicest B&Bs weve stayed in. The owner was very welcoming and helpful. The only issue we had is that every morning around 8 AM we were awoken by loud footsteps and running above us. I am guessing they were small children getting ready for school. That was a small issue, though, because everything else was perfect! I highly recommend staying at Federici!

My wife and I stayed with Fabio for 8 days. He was a very accomodating host and in fact booked for us a private tour of the Vatican Museum and made reservations for the Villa Borghese Gallery even before we arrived at the B & B. He recommended several very good restaurants in the area, particularly the Bella Napoli that was filled with locals and represented very good value and had excellent food. The B & B is ideally located just steps away from the Ottaviano metro stop which is only about a 1/3rd of a mile from Vatican City. This property is an excellent value in a very expensive city and if you are into B & Bs we imagine you would be hard pressed to find a better one for the money in Rome. We would definitely stay here again.

It was hard to find however Senor Federici walked out in the rain to find us and escort us to the B&B. Once we knew where it was, everything was great. The B&B is located at the metro so we could easily go everywhere in the city. The B&B is a very short walk to Vatican City, which enabled us to enjoy the Easter Masses without complications and traffic delays. I will return to this B&B (already made plans to take daughter and family) and have highly recommended this B&B to all of my friends and co-workers. Right beside Metro Station, but be aware that this Metro line, Metro A, closes at 9pm every night (for construction work). I went for dinner near the Spanish Steps and came back about 10pm and found the Metro station shut. A lot of fellow tourists, and a few Italians, were unaware of this. According to Timeout 2007 Rome guide, there is some sort of shuttle bus running but I don't know from where. Although I have no Italian, there did not seem to be any notices up about this so I ended up having to walk home. The B&B itself is lovely, with spacious room, nice dining room and Fabio was very welcoming. Would return again if visiting Rome, or might try for somewhere on the Metro B line (which doesn't have the 9pm curfew, as far as I know).

This B&B is very well-located with respect to subway access, bus access and services, though it is a ways away from the main tourist stops. The rooms are located on a central courtyard (don't envision trees and chirping birds), so the rooms are quiet. Fabio speaks very good English and is helpful. The breakfasts are kind of skimpy and start too late -- 8:30 am -- for people who like to get out early. This is an acceptable place to stay, but we think it has been a bit over-rated by other reviewers.

Fabio at Federici B&B was an excellent host providing us with much valuable information & assistance. The location of the B&B was excellent; a short walk from the Vatican with a Metro station literally at the front door. The breakfast provided was disappointing but this is a minor problem as there was a great bakery just over the road. It was probably served a litle late (8.30-10.30am) for people hoping to get into one of those long queues early! However, we were able to pop down to St Peter's Basilica, which we had practically to ourselves and be back in time for breakfast! There are lots of good restaurants in the area to choose from. Overall, Federici B&B was very good & we'd certainly stay there again.

Just returned from 10 day vacation in Rome and Sorrento...Chose Federici B @ B based on previous visitors comments and was glad I did...have nothing but the highest praise for Fabio and his staff...accommodation was excellent,,very clean and located within a short Metro ride to all the sites...all the travel guides warn you to beware of pickpockets..however,as we found out, this is very hard to do...one member of our group was robbed on the crowded Metro despite all our precautions...Fabio offered his assistance in notifying our credit card company,etc....a lesson learned...its sad to think a very few people are giving this wonderful city a bad reputation....nevertheless we had a wonderful time in Rome and wish to thank Fabio for all his kindness and assistance.

Fabio was gracious and competent. He was more than willing to provide us with any information we needed. Excellent command of English. Close to Vatican and subway. Train within walking distance. We stayed 4 nights and returned to stay 1 night before departure. Great place. If you wish to see ST. Peter"s go at 7am and return for breakfast. There are no lines at that time. Breakfast is fun and always interesting around a large round table where you can meet fellow travelers.

Our stay, though short, was great. Fabio is a great host, very attentive to details as evidenced in the morning meal. I asked him for a favor and not only did he hop right on it, he never mentioned till later the need for a return trip to accomplish it. The public areas are very large and well appointed with many books, pamphlets, music, and most appreciated of all, just a good old couch to plop on and raise up those sore tootsies! The location is superb with the metro right outside the door. Parking came with a price tag...we got a ticket! Be alert if driving for the telephone booth looking ticket purchase machines. They give you a ticket that you put on dash. There is one sign in 2 blocks that you must pay, but hey, live and pay! A Local restaurant a few blocks to the north(to right as you come out of building) something(can't remember) Umbra. It is a walk-down restaurant with english speaking waiter, rustic food, ample portions, and modest prices. We went back a second time and were not as pleased since service lacked attentiveness. I cannot fail to mention a certain sweet shop up the intersection street in a basement. It is on the left in the second block. Don't go if you count calories! Also has superb looking local sandwiches premade. Just has a very small awning with sign. Federici is an ideal base, within 7 or 8 minutes from St Peters and the Vatican, to expore Rome. As usual the baths are fairly small with shower stalls. They also do not give wash clothes with linens. The price is very good bargain for a city location. Fabio is the best! You will be happy.

This B & B was by European standards very good. What made it excellent was the service of the owner, Fabio. He is fantastic and I would highly recommend this B & B. It is close to the tube station and within walking distance of all the important attractions in the city. We found excellent restaurants with reasonable prices everywhere. I will stay here again when in Rome.

We were very satisfied with our stay at the Federici B&B. Fabio spoke very good English, in contradiction to most of Italians, and helped us in booking a ticket in the Gallery Borghese. He was also kind enough to let us leave our baggage the last day in his B&B, as our flight was late in the evening. The room was nice and clean, towels changed every 2 days. Also we found breakfast satisfying, served in a nice environment. The B&B was situated right in front of a metro station, and within walking distance from the Vatican, Saint Peter and Castel Sant'Angelo. In the corner of the B&B we found also a nice-and relatively cheap-bakery with nice stuff like pizzas and toasts. We have already recommended the Federici B&B to friends.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Federici. It is located in a residential apartment building and consists of only three rooms, though I do think the proprietors of the b&b also own and rent some other apartments in the building. I was given three keys, one for the gated exterior courtyard, one for the apartment, and one for my room. Nothing about the place resembled an elegant hotel, but everything was clean, comfortable, welcoming, safe, and homelike. The hosts, Fabio and his parents, and even the maid, were as friendly and helpful as could be. It is true that the sheets and towels are not changed daily, as a previous reviewer noted with annoyance; but environmental concerns have made this the practice at even some of the big hotels; we were careful not to get ours too wet, but if we did we just draped them over the radiator to dry. The rooms are small, with very small showers that leak if you open the door while the water is running. We found them quite large enough and only wished the lighting was a bit better, They look out on an interior courtyard, so the sounds of the busy streets are muffled and one hears only the quiet sounds of families going about their daily lives. In the evening the place was filled with wonderful cooking smells from other apartments. The best thing was the location, on the museum side of the Vatican, about a third of a mile away, a very pleasant and easy walk on what appears to be a major shopping street. We also walked easily to Piazza del Populo, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Gesu, and many of the other major signts. The Ottoviani metro stop was literally right outside the door, so we used the metro to get to places too far to walk! I was there alone for part of my stay, and I appreciated the fact that the streets were filled with people at least until nine or nine-thirty at night. Because of that,I never felt unsafe walking back to the hotel after dinner. There are many very good restaurants within walking distance, an

Federici's was hard to find for a visitor to Rome who is unfamiliar with the customs there. Fortunately, Fabio arranged transportation from the airport and took us right to the front door. Breakfast was limited but sufficient and very good. We enjoyed talking to other guests at breakfast. The room was small, as are a lot of rooms in Italy, and quite clean. Fabio and his family were very accomodating, helping us find a movie theater with English speaking movies, giving directions, and much more. Language was not a problem, as English was spoken very well, especially by Fabio. The Metro was right outside the front door so we were able to get around Rome without walking to far out of our way and Vatican City is within walking distant even for people that have difficulty walking (its all level walking). I have already recomended Federici's to others that plan to travel to Rome. For the price, it was really worth it.

Just a couple of "buts" to this b&b: 10:30 a.m. seems to me a bit to early to check out. It is usually 12 or 11 in other hostels. Anyway, we left at 10:50 and it was o.k. Also, in 5 days they didn´t clean the bathroom quite properly, and I also agree that they change the towels every two days, but if one of them gets too wet, they could make an exception and put a clean one. I was also unlucky with my mattres, that was too soft and noisy. Anyway, Fabio and his girlfriend were really nice, breakfast was delicious and the location was perfect to see the Vatican City.I would recommend this place to have a pleasant stay in Rome.

I enjoyed my stay in Rom very much. The B&B Federici was just perfect. Federici is a nice helpfull person. The breakfast was good and I enjoyed having breakfast with other traveler at one table. The location of the B&B is good, as it is near to the Metro and near the Vaticn. Even so it is a quite place and no noice from the trafic could be heard.

We were pleased to find that Federici's was a non-smoking Bed and Breakfast. Fabio has a great location to see Rome by foot. There is no free parking but that's common in the city. Fabio was informative and suggested the restaurant Bella Napoli which had excellent food, reasonable pricing and old fashioned service! We will stay here again if we come to Rome in the future.

You should listen carefully when Fabio recommends to take care of your wallet and your foto camera very much while walking arround in Roma and especially when using the subway. The atmosphere at the breakfast was always great. In the B&B there were guests from all over the world. We can highly recommend this B&B.

In the category of Bed and Breakfast, Federici's is the place to stay. We have stayed at three modest hotels/bed&breakfast in the Vatican/Prati area (range 90 to 130 euros). Of the three, Federici's was by far the most pleasant and accomodating (as well as among the least expensive).

Our host was fabulous (hence his name is Fabio). He was charming and most helpful and more importantly he gave us an insight into Italian culture that we were not normally aware of. The interaction between Fabio, staff and guests was terrific and I would recommend this establishment to anyone who wishes to avail of budget accommodation in the heart of Roma (it's only about a five minute walk from St Peters) and convenient to the Metro (railway system). After travelling throughout Italy for 7 weeks, staying at Frederici B&B was a fitting conclusion (this was our last port of call) to a wonderful holiday. We will recommend Fabio to our Australian friends

We stayed in Rome for 3 nights. Fabio was extremely helpful with arranging taxi's to the airport, advise on what to see, etc. He speaks English really well. The B&B is in a great location right by the metro. We booked 3 tours with Greenline tours before I knew that we could book it through Fabio, and Greenline tours did a terrible job! If you want tours of the city I would definitly go through Fabio, they are about the same price. Thanks Fabio, and next time we come to Rome we will stay with you again.

We had a very pleasant stay here over Christmas for five nights. The bed and breakfast is right next to the metro stop (right outside the door) and is easy to find and remember how to get to (Metro: Ottaviano (follow signs for Vatican)). Fabio was a great host friendly, welcoming and very professional. Breakfast was nice as well with plenty to eat. Only complaint during our stay was the noice from construction going on upstairs in the building at the time which could not have been controlled. Excellent stay and we would recommend this place to everyone. If we return to Rome we will stay here again.

Fabio and his assistants were very helpful is suggesting "times" for tours and in getting us oriented to the metro system, as weil as transportation to the airport upon departure. The room, breakfast were fine. The entrance (?) at the lower level was a bit surprising..not very in inviting, but I guess it's a public area. Otherwise, the location was excellent for the vatican. ete. and getting on the metro system.

We enjoyed our stay in Federici overall. It is in an excellent location, close to the Vatican and other sites but not too touristy. (We found an excellent Umbrian restaurant just down the street). The only problems we had were: (1) The noise. Our room's window faced onto a busy street, with traffic noise from very early in the morning. (2) On our final morning, the owner organised a taxi to collect us at 7.0 take us to the airport. Breakfast didn't start until 8.30 but we had thought that he might organise an early breakfast for us or perhaps put a pastry or some bread or some fruit in a little bag for us to take with us. (Our daughter who is five was starving and we had to spend around €20 in the airport just getting a few rolls and drinks). The service was generally so excellent, we expected Fabio to make an effort to get us fed before we left. After all, we had paid for it.
