Bed and Breakfast The Condottieri - Rome

Although the b and b isn't in the centre of Rome it is easy toget into the historic centre by tram or even better the number 81 bus. This bus goes passed many monuments and terminates just outside the St Peter's Square. For one euro it is a bargain. The b and b is only a 20 minute walk from the via del Pigneto strip of bars and restaurants. Primo restaurant, although not the cheapest produces some mouthwatering dishes. Rome itself felt safe and is beautiful.

The employees of the property are very hospitable and kind. It has a good location for the money. The bus stop is very close. A laundry facility, grocery store and pretty much any thing else you could want is in walking distance. The city center and Termini station is about a 20 minute bus or tram ride away. Overall, I would recommend this place to a single traveler or a young couple in need of a economical space.

Very clean, great breakfast. More remote than expected and issues with communication (nothing serious, just difficult). We had to track down the hostess upon arrival.

Rooms are spacious but not very quiet,it's a first floor. Not really in the city center,but there are useful facilities in the surroundings. Guo, the chinese owner, was kind,rooms were quite clean and are big.

The room is clean, spacious, and nice. Shower hot water fluctuates a bit sometimes. Breakfast wasn't excellent but did served with bread with ham and cheese, some pastry, coffee and juice. Owner doesn't speak good English, but was being very polite and doing her best to serve us. The commuting trams were quite frequent but still it'll take around 30min to get to the city (including waiting time). Though if you were staying there for a longer trip, (we spent 6 days in Rome) it's actually good to have a look of the place besides the city centre.

My 2nd visit to Rome, the 1st time for my companion. The Condottieri was convenient for transport into the city centre and the local area met all our needs, the owner was welcoming and helpful even though she spoke no English and our Italian is very limited. Our stay was great!

It's nice room, spacious and clean. With a private bath, also clean and big. The room has air conditioned and a comfortable bed. Good breakfast served. The place is a little far from city center but there's is a really good restaurant (really italian cuisine and good price) just in front (La casa nostra, o something like that). We stayed a week and we enjoy it.

Room and service generally were good for the price. Suggestions for improvement: - between website and owners/operators: (a) the phone No given by Venere was not the correct one for contacting operator re getting into building (took a very kind person in the Cafe opposite to sort it out); (b) Venere pringtout said payment was to be to operator at end of stay, while operator wanted cash on arrival (difficult given that I arrived over the w/e) - by owner/operator: given the international clientel of B&Bs in Rome, the near total lack of knowledge of any languages other than italian/chinese made communication difficult (I am fluent in English/French and am Ok in German)

Fantastic breakfast provided at our own specified time. The B&B was in a good little neighboorhood with a cafe bar across the road doing excellent apertivo in the evenings and coffee in the mornings. It was easy to get public transport to the city, and we even walked in on one of the days.

The proprietor does not speak a word of english or french so you really need to have a translation book. Also, I had to wait two hours before I could get into the apartment, but if you know that it's not a big deal. I don't know why one apartment was listed but was taken to another, but the one I stayed at was only a few blocks away and right beside the bus stop. The tram that takes you to the main train station is right out front too - take either the 14 or 5 which takes you to within a block of Termini. The bus (81) takes you past the Colosseum, so it's convenient as well. The only reason I wouldn't go back is because I found the apartment a bit stark, and outdoors, the area covered in grafitti and litter, but then a lot of Rome was like that.

We stayed here for a long week-end. The room was very nice and the double bed was so convenient. The bathroom is as like as in many italian hotel and b&b, there is each with toilet. This was a great place to relax after sightseeing! Great!

The Condottieri was a very nice place to stay with a clean, spacious room and a little balcony. The breakfast at a time of our choice was excellent with juice, water and coffee and plenty of rolls, cold meats and pastries were offered. It was in a residential area and was difficult to find from the map directions as this was our first trip to Rome, but the taxi driver found it without any trouble. We then found the tram stop and bus stops which were 5 minutes from the Condottieri and got us quickly into the town centre. We had no problems getting back late at night using the buses. The only problem was contacting the owner when we arrived, we had to phone her on her cell phone but fortunately her son was available and spoke English as our Italian is very poor, especially over the phone! The owner came within 10 minutes and was very pleasant and helpful. We would definately stay at the Condottieri again, excellent value for money!

Ich war für eine Woche Ende September 07 hier. Aufgrund der Handynummer (00393487035070) hat eine italienische Bekannte meine Ankunftzeit gegenüber der Vermieterin bekanntgegeben. Sie wohnt nicht im Haus und spricht kein Englisch oder Deutsch. Ist sehr freundlich. Das Frühstück ist reichlich. Die Unterkunft liegt in einer Wohngegend außerhalb der Innenstadt. Im Vergleich dazu ruhig. Im Michelin Plan über Rom findet man die Straße. Es werden 3 Zimmer vermietet. Die Küche für das Frühstück ist klein und sauber. Im Bad gibt es eine Badewanne. Unterhalb meines Zimmers befand sich eine Telefonzelle, von wo aus ein Chinese um Mitternacht eine Stunde telefonierte - Schlaf unmöglich. Tip: Nicht ohne Ticket Bus o.ä. fahren. Es wird kontrolliert und kostet 50 €.

We enjoyed our stay at "The condottieri" very much despite the fact that the welcoming wasn´t how we expected it ... we arrived around midnight (as told to the staff at "The condottieri" - the ladys said that this is no problem) and there was nobody!!! There was no sign on the outside of the house that there is a bed&breakfast - on the doorbell we finally found the two letters B&B. Also when we rang there was nobody - fortunately I wrote down the mobile number of the landlady from the internet (as posted from another former guest - thank you!!!), so I could call her. On the phone she was very friendly and came within 5 minutes to give us the key. The rest was very nice - for italian standard a very good breakfast, nice lady, clean room, busstation in front of the house. But one more tipp: We had to go to the airport at 5.00am and it was impossible to get a taxi - we tried several numbers but all the taxis were busy or didn`t come to this area. Saluti, Carmen

The rooms were clan and they looked like in the photos in internet. The recepionist was very nice, polite and helpfull. What is very good that you have a bus-line nearly in front of the house and it is very easy to go to the city and to come back even in the evening. We would come back!

Very nice stay at this bed ad Breakfast. Good Price for the Room. Owner doesn't speak english at all but it was not a real big deal. Bus #81 stop is very close from B&B. and takes you right to the Coliseum and downtown Rome. Will go back and recomend this place.

Litre bit complicated to understand and comunicate if you dont speak italian....they dont speak or understand english...but, all very nice people!

Tutto molto bene

Die Pension liegt inmitten eines italienischen Wohngebietes (Prenestina) und ist mit dem Bus (81) oder der Tram (5, 14) vom Termini zu erreichen. Das Viertel wird belebt am Morgen, was im Allgemeinen nicht störend ist. Das Zimmer und das Bad waren sehr sauber und das Frühstück auch sehr ausreichend: frischen Kaffee, Saft, Croissants und Brötchen. Die Hausdame ist sehr freundlich, nur spricht sie nur italienisch und die Verständigung erfolgte mit Händen und Füssen. Wir hatten eine sehr schönen Aufenthalt und würden uns bei einem erneuten Besuch wieder im Condottieri einquartieren.

The biggest problem was to communicate with the landlady. she speaks no word english and we just a few words in italian. but it was no real problem all in all a very nice time in Rome the puplic bus system is in front of the house and the tram is just a few minutes down the street

I just had some problems in getting there, it is located in a residential area and few people knew how to get there (it is about 20 minutes from downtown). I also was surprised when I get there because it is not a hotel as we usually know, it is a apartment with 3 suites only! But the bedroom and the bathroom are excellent, they are very clean and spacious. Furthermore, the owner is very nice, she makes the breakfast by herself. I certainly would stay there again!

We had a nice welcome even though we arrived late at night. The owners were very friendly but didn't speak English very well. The location is situated quite far from the city centre, which is the only real disadvantage. We always took bus # 81, however (as we found afterwards) tram would probably have been better. The rooms are nice, clean and relatively quiet. The breakfast was good. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

The B&B is in an apartment block. On arrival, the lady who runs the B&B can be reached by mobile telephone, as her number is on the doorbell. Although the apartment block is situated in a residential area, it was not especially noisy. there is a bus that runs past the B&B, but I preferred to use the Tram to get to and from the city centre, as it was only a 20 minute ride. The B&B was comfortable and the lady who runs it, although we could not speak each other's languages, was very pleasant and helpful, and provides an adequate breakfast.

My sister and i stayed here for a couple of days in sept, we had never been to italy before so used other feedback on properties to help our judgement. we arrived late at night and found it alittle daunting finding the place as its in the heart of an italian estate, but we just showed the taxi man the address and we got there fine. very nice welcome from the owners, very little english but then again we had less italian so can't complain! nice clean modern rooms, with on- suite and a balcony. breakfast was enough to start our sightseeing days on with plenty of coffee on hand before we left. situated near shops, handy for bus tickets and stamps, and the local people in the restaurants were friendly and patient with our attempts to make ourselves understood. would certainly stay there again as it was a great base to commute into the centre from.

The experience we had with this B&B pretty much set the tone for our experience in Rome. After reading that the lodging was approxamtely 1 km from the train station, we decided to walk. We spent nearly an hour walking, and when we phoned the B&B, we were told to take such and such a bus. After failing to locate this bus we caught a taxi. The driver had no idea where the street was that the B&B was on, and could not find it on a map of the city. It took him 45 minutes of stopping to ask directions and calling the dispatcher to find it. When we reached the accomidations, we discovered that our room was one room in a small apartment, and the 'private bath' was a converted closet. We paid 75 euros, and were very dissapointed. The one plus is that the staff were up early and arranged a spread of pastries and juice for breakfast. Also, be aware that the staff speak no english, and you will need to know at least basic Italian to communicate at all.

Very pleasant facility and service. Definitely helps to be able to communicate in at least some Italian.

It's a pretty and confortable appartment with private bathroom and air conditioner, very important in summer. It is a quite and pleasant surrounding but a little far away of the historic center. We went by car and we have problems to reach the place, but we contact the people of The Condottieri by celular and they were very,very kind and nice and they went where we were and guided us to the hotel. Their attention was wonderfull.

The owner of the residence couldn't speak a word English, this made the communication very difficult. We read about the breakfast in Italy and that it wasn't that good. The breakfast at our B&B wasn't that good either, we had old rolls and croissants....

The "bed" needs more "breakfast"(little bit poor).

Friendly and clean (new renovated). a bit out of the hot spots, but very good reachable by bus and tram.

The Condottieri is a bed and breakfast situated on the first floor of a residential block of flats. There are 3 rooms, each with a private bathroom, and also a communal kitchen. The owner visits each morning to serve breakfast at whatever time you wish. She is very friendly but doesn't speak English (perhaps the kitchen could benefit from having a kettle and a toaster). The B&B is well connected with bus and tram routes only 2 mins walk away. However, when first locating The Condottieri via the tram I found it unclear as to which stop I had to get off (it's stop number 13, on Via Prenestina, if you are coming from Termini Station on the number 5 or 14 tram). The tram takes about 20 mins to reach the B&B, but you may prefer to take the bus number 81 which goes round all the main attractions and finishes up at the Vatican. It's an hours ride in total but worth it as you get to see everything en route. You each have your own key to the property, and one for your room, and can come and go as you please. There are local shops opposite the B&B where you can buy stamps, bus tickets and phone cards. Overall I enjoyed my stay, the B&B is in the heart of an Italian neighbourhood which appears friendly and fairly lively. You only have to walk 5-10mins for local restaurants, which is very handy. The rooms are clean and spacious and mine had a small balcony. At night, until the early hours, the streets are fairly noisy with cars and scooters, but it is like that everywhere in Rome!
