Location was great, as it was in the heart of Rome just a short walk to Campo di Fiori and Piazza Navonna. Because of that a great value, but don't expect much else... i.e. breakfast or room accomodations...

The location is very good but the place is in very poor general condition, very dirty , noisy and has the bathroom located out of the room. More than a bed and breakfast it is a rent a room. If not desperate go elsewhere as you can only do better.

The only negative is the road noise, as previously mentioned by others. The hotel is on a busy road, with alot of traffic day and night, passing by. The location is great for the all the major sights, and near to lots of resturants. Our room was lovely and big, a separate private bathroom for each of the three rooms, in this B&B. A large kitchen where you prepare your own breakfast in the morning - cereals, bread, eggs, yoghurt. You can purchase your own foods and use the fridge and cooker. Overall the location is the best feature. Marco is very helpful, if you have any questions.

We had a wonderful time and Marco who welcomed us was charming, enormously helpful and clear about everything - We were contacted two days before about our arrival and the whole process worked well - the room itself was lovely and clean with a window overlooking a small piazza with an olive tree and a restaurant with a musician so we were serenaded quietly on the accordion for much of our stay - our room was reasonably quiet even though it was near the Corso - the only suggestion for improvement would be the breakfast - it was generous but not good with packaged pastries and toast - better just to have one of the amazing cornetti made at every bakery in the neighborhood - the location is perfect and you can get to the whole of the old city either on foot or by bus - it was also easy to make arrangements to leave luggage before and after check in/checkout times AND there is an elevator for heavy bags and weary travellers - we would stay here again happily - thanks again to Marco and Kinga for the welcome

Worst experience ever! First of all, if you are accustomed to B&B experience in USA - DO NOT GET FOOLED BY NAME. This is more like an upscale hostel. There is a dining room where you serve yourselves a quick breakfast (just basics like coffee and croissants). Nothing like the B&Bs I have been to in US. Second - the staff is totally incompetent. I relied on them to wake me up in the morning when my taxi was supposed to call for me. Well, I never received that call - and I missed my international flight! Third - rooms are facing a very, very busy street. Even with the windows closed tightly, you are likely to get a lot of noise at night. Also, the showers are very finicky. The only plus point is that it is quite close to Vatican - you can walk to St. Peters in less than 10 minutes.

Excellent location, in a walking distance from many of the attractions in the center from the Fori imperiali to the Vatican. Tenant is ready to help and a source of good tips on where to go, he tried the places himself and you can trust his taste. Indeed the street is very busy, and the windows don't stop the noise, but in general if you look for a relaxing stay you shouldn't chosse Rome.

We enjoyed very much our stay in Rome! The B&B is a great place to stay: very central location to the different city area, nice breakfast, (free) wireless internet, umbrella's(if ever it rains...)... Non doubt the street noise is very high, it's written in al the reviews I guess.. Use of earplugs for spleeping is necessary and they are foreseen by the host. As far as we were concerned, we have been able a good rest and had problem to find the sleep. Giuseppe, who runs the B&B, ensures you get a warm welcome, shares a list of nice addresses and make sure you have a pleasant stay! Looking forward to come back there soon! PS: don't try to find out where they have the best ice-cream around... just ask Giuseppe

Giuseppe was helpful and gave us great information. The B&B was central to everything and it was easy to walk to all the great sites. There is some street noise, and earplugs were provided, but we did not need them. It wasn't that loud. This was our first trip to Rome, and our first stay in a B&B, and Giuseppe made it all pleasant and enjoyable. We will stay there if we visit Rome again.

Our experience staying at Surprising in Rome was just right for what we needed. It is very central and walking distance to most of the attractions. If you need to take a bus, there is one right at the front door. Guiseppe was very friendly and accomodated all of our needs. A full breakfast was on offer every day and the kitchen was equipped. The property was serviced by a housekeeper everyday so was clean which is important. Our only issue was with noise. Unfortunately the property is on the main road so if you are looking for a place with some serenity, this is not it. Guiseppe does provide ear plugs!

My friend and I were extremely pleased with our stay at Surprising. Guiseppe went out of his way to make us comfortable. He made a reservation for us at Villa Borghese, helped with travel and restaurant recommendations. He provided a full range of breakfast foods and would have cooked for us if we wanted. The B&B is a very short walk from the Tiber and Castel St'Angelo. We walked to Piazza Nivona and used buses for more distant places. We loved the place and would use it again.

I thought the room was great, it was big for a European hotel and very clean. The host (Giuseppe) was real friendly and willing to help with anything we needed. On arrival he gave recommendations to restaurants and best walking routes to take; we mentioned to him we wanted to rent a Vespa for a day and he found us two local rental places and prices He even did laundry for me one day for no extra charge which was great. The only thing I did not realize is the bathroom, while private, is not in the room so you need to walk out in the hallway to access it. This was not a big deal since our floor and suite area only had one other room with two guests. The breakfast was self serve with a full kitchen. I enjoyed this since I like to cook and every morning Giuseppe had fresh bread, eggs, cheese and beverages for us in addition to cereals, biscuits and other items. The location was great, in walking distance to all the sights. It was a little loud at night since the hotel is on a fairly busy street but we did not have any trouble sleeping. I would stay here again and would recommend it to friends and family who are visiting Rome.

Warm welcome from Giuseppe who took the time to explain us a lot of things (facilities, surroundings, visits, etc.). The room was spacious and clean but a bit noisy due to corso Vittorio Emmanuel II, but this didn't disturb us at all (anyway, some earplugs are available in the room if needed!). Breakfast is huge and at your disposal. To conclude the B&B is perfectly situated to visit historic center of Rome, very comfortable and the owner very nice (and english speaking).

It was our first time in Rome! It was excellent room full of facilities. You should know that there is one bathroom for each room but it's outside the room! I personally don't think of it as disadvantage! Room's decoration is great! The room is much better comparing to the photos on the webpage! The location is excellent. In the center! Giuseppe met us and had a map that he put places of interest on and suggested restaurants. He was very knowledgable and happy to help in any way he could. He does not live there. The room was clean, roomy and homey. The only thing was the bathroom was private but down the hall so you need to take a housecoat. Central location - everything was walkable. The only drawback was the noise from the street but it didn't bother us. You had to make your own breakfast but there was lots to choose from. He had a well stocked frig and bread was fresh daily.

This is wonderful B&B with well decorated, spacious, clean bedrooms (one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in), and marble bathrooms. Guiseppe is a FANTASTIC host, he greeted us with a bottle of wine and sat down with us to map out walking tours, great restaurant suggestions, and unique spots to experience traditional Rome, all catered to our preferences and intentions for the weekend. He provided an excellent breakfast laid out with many options, and kept fresh bread, cheese, and meats for our afternoon snack. The view of the street from the 4th floor room is great and the location is prime! The bus to the train station stops directly in front of the building, but besides heading to/from the airport we never needed transportation. The B&B is centrally located (seriously about a 15/20 min walk everywhere) to the can't miss sights (Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Fontana di Trevi, Spanish Steps, the Vatican, the Roman Forum/Colluseum, Trastevere, Tiber River) and great side streets with small, authentic restaurants and shops. It is just steps from Campo De Fiori which was our favorite Piazza to end the night- lots of restaurants and cafes with all the locals. We went just for a quick weekend trip, and I am convinced our wonderful time was made possible by Guiseppe! We would not even consider staying somewhere else next time in Rome. Price is also very reasonable considering all of the conveniences and attention you receive. By the end of the weekend we were ready to move in!

Terrific location with very large room. B&B only has two rooms available making service very personalized. You feel you're sharing an apartment with the friendly owner, Giuseppe, who is eager to provide helpful tips and assist with museum and other reservations. Large bathroom is down the hall, but each room has their own private one. A substantial and excellent variety of food for breakfast, including eggs, cereal, fruit, cheeses, meat, juice, coffee and fantastic country bread. The rooms face a noisy street, but I wasn't bothered and my companion was Ok with earplugs. Less privacy than a traditional hotel, but we thought the extra space and being able to interact with a real Roman was well worth the tradeoff.

Great location, great value for money. Giuseppe was very hospitable and helpful and provided lots of useful information. The room was large and comfortable and so was the bathroom. There is a washing machine and even a microwave for guests to use. The B&B is on the 4th floor of a building, but there is a lift, (although quite tiny). The breakfast offered good choice of food. There is a supermarket next door and the bus stop is only few meters from the building. Even with the shutters closed, the room was a bit noisy since it overlooks one of the main streets in Rome. However, this wasn't a major concern and the location of the B&B more than compensated for it. The only criticism we have is that towels and bedlinen could've been changed more often (unless there was an expectation that we will wash them ourselves?). Overall, the facilities and the service were very good and we'd have no hesitation to recommend this property to other travellers. We will certainly stay there next time we're in Rome.

You cannot find a better location to visit all of the top spots in Rome. Giuseppe & Sabrina are delightful and very helpful. When you arrive, Giuseppe will sit down with you and recommend the best ways to get from point to point on foot as well as the best places to eat. Trust him, his regular job a host at a restaurant so he knows his food. What's more is that included in your stay is a full breakfast with cereal, milk, juice, fresh cooked scrambled eggs with Parmesan cheese, salami, cheeses, fruit, coffee, tea, and other foods. Also the price pretty much includes your water and everything else. They don't try to nickel and dime you like most hotels. Sabrina even did laundry for us and hung it on the roof to dry for us. She let us up on the roof to enjoy the view of Rome at night...a feast for the eyes and ears. This is not like staying in a hotel or anything like that. You are actually living in a Giuseppe & Sabrina's home (which is a very nice place). We had our own private bathroom that was gorgeous (covered in white and black marble) and the room was very nice, outfitted with a very comfortable stylish Italian bed surrounded by antique dressers, desks, doors and everything else. Like I said, the location is perfect...about 10-15 minute leisurely walk to the Vatican in one direction. The other direction leads you to Piazza Nuova, the Pantheon (Rotunda), Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. If the weather is too hot, jump on the bus, you'll be just about anywhere in a few minutes. Ask Giuseppe about Antica Taverna near the B&B. Once you get there, order the Spaghetti Amatriciana and enjoy. Eat each individual strand slowly and savor the taste...I miss it already! The only minus is the street noise. It really didn't bother us, but it is a factor. Giuseppe and Sabrina know about this and provide earplugs which do the trick. I would say it's not even a concern and I would not hesitate to return to live with them again.

We spent 3 days in Rome, every morning a different wake up hour, but our guests always cooked a delicious and very generous breakfast! this was very important for us and really appreciated! :) the only suggestion we can do is this: make available a TV in the rooms. Recomendable.

The spacious and nicely decorated room with private marble bathroom is placed in a huge 19th century city palace. You just choose your time for breakfast and can choose from a variety of offerings, from tea, coffee, juice, brioches, fruit, bread, cheese, sausages etc. If you need assistance to plan your sightseeing tour the owner is more than pleased to help you. Every major attractions, from Vatican to the historic centre are in walking distance. And there are a number of nice bars and restaurants for the evenings as well. If you arrive at Stazione Termini, there's a direct bus to the place: # 64. I can only recommend to stay at Surprising in Rome B&B. The only negative thing is that Corso Vittorio Emmanuele is one the major traffic routes through the city centre. So bring your ear plugs and keep the windows shut at night.

Very friendly and clean. Excellent location - all attractions within walking distance. Superb breakfast and very helpful with directions, queries etc. Bathroom/shower is down hallway. Only drawback is the noise from the main road - if you're a light sleeper - take ear plugs!

Giuseppe & Sabrina were so welcoming, and their homemade breakfast was a feast! He even made a great pasta lunch for us before we left. Note: there is a private bathroom, but it's down the hall. Earplugs are needed, as there's heavy traffic outside all hours of the night.

" Sabrina you did very good on breakfasts too " They were very helpful on tourist information Resturants, what to do in the area, calling a cab for us. We would stay here again. A 3-star hotel with bathroom en suite, full breakfast, daily maid service, and in historic center on quiet street was 10% less. Price did not reflect low season/high availability. Description does not make clear that bathroom is down hall; picture of bathroom shows bathtub, but one bathroom is only shower. Bedroom is on VERY noisy street.

We had travelled for 24 hours to get to Rome and were grateful for the warm welcome and great room. There is some street noise from traffic but really in Italy you have to expect that everywhere. It did not bother us as we were dead tired each day after walking a long way. It is in a great location - walking distance to the Vatican and other great sites. It is a great and affordable place to stay. Please try it.

It has been as being in a friend's house more than in a hote !! Very well located. Welcoming very, very friendly. And breakfast for Cesar's. In some years, there will be another more typical thing to do in Rome: To begin the day with a good breakfast: The scrambled eggs of Giuseppe

Joseph was a wonderful host! The best breakfast on our trip to Italy! We would stay here a gain in a heartbeat. Very nice bathrooms. everything was clean. He even let us use his computer so my husband could check e-mail, and helped us by calling and arranging delivery of an important item we left at our hotel in Florence. Thanks!

An excellent location for exploring Rome and less than 10 mins walk to Vatican City. Giuseppe (the owner) was extremely friendly and helpful. My only warning would be that Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is a very busy road and therefore this isn't the quietest location.

my friend and i really enjoyed staying with guiseppe and sabrina. they made an amazing breakfast for us and discussed our plans for our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. they gave us directions, recommendations for shops and restaurants, and made sure we had a cab to the airport. the room was huge compared to all the other places i've stayed in europe. there is no doubt in my mind that i would stay here again. besides the accomodation, guiseppe and sabrina are friendly; we talked about fashion and work and even shoes! surprising in rome is delightful :)

We really enjoyed staying at Surprising in Rome. We were on honeymoon and this was our first trip to Italy, but they told us a lot of things to do, good restaurants, good wines to buy and etc. We were supposed to arrive by 9pm but because of flight delay we arrived there at 3 in the morning. They still gave us a warm welcome like he gave us fruits and even a grass of wine that tasted really good. They were so nice to us and we even missed him during the rest of the trip in other cities. I would like to come back there next time and I recommend this place to my friends.
