The location was great but the room was just ok. Breakfast ended up being a 7 day croissant & a bottle of water which was left in the fridge for us every day

We knew that the hotel reception and the hotel room were a way apart from reading other reviews. It is not to far to walk - about 20 mins with cases. The room is on the 3rd floor, with LOTS of steps! A pain with your cases, but again we expected it. My disappointment was that the room was barely bigger that the bed which made it miserable for the 2 of us getting ready to go out. It was nice having your own front door, you felt like a local passing the tourists in the restaurant downstairs and going into an anonymous address rather than a hotel! The room is right by the Spanish Steps, so fairly central and a good place to see Rome from. The restaurant immediately below the hotel is not very good, and the staff weren't particularly friendly, once you're at your table. There are many better restaurants just around the corner and I would highly recommend you walk for just 5 mins, rather than going for the easy option of the one at the bottom of the stairs. I wouldn't recommend this room if you are travelling alone and require the security of hotel staff. You are totally removed from the hotel in this room and although it was secure my wife said that she would have been nervous if she was alone.

The room was REALLY far away from where we had to actually "check in" and get our key, and you cannot walk. My taxi took us to the "hotel" to check in, and I thought he was going to wait for me, but he left us there and we had to catch another taxi to the address for the "room" which is by the Spanish Steps. Other than that, it was ok. It wasn't really worth 99Euros compared to our REALLY nice B &B in Florence which was only 65Euros a night and much bigger and nicer. Also, when my friends arrived, there was NO air conditioning and it was like 95 degrees! So, it took a day for them to turn it on.

We were in Rome for 2 blissful nights in June. The location of the Monet is amazing and perfect. The only problem we encountered was in picking up the key at The Picasso. The reservation email should have said that the Monet was nowhere near the hotel where we needed to pick up the key. We assumed they were near each other and so went first to The Monet, hauling our bags, and then had to find the other hotel and that was a lot of unnecessary walking. That said...The Monet is in the best possible location. The bathroom is modern and clean. We are a young 55 years old. It is a 3rd floor walk-up so perhaps this is not a good fit for an older couple who is not in good physical shape. If young at heart and body, then this is perfect. We loved it and hopefully will stay there again in the future and we recommend it totally.

Very cosy and comfortable rooms. There are no noises in the night, it is so good. Nearby there are plenty of bars and osterias and some of Rome best known landmarks.

You get what you pay for. I waited to book my room in Rome thinking prices might go down (there's a global recession, right?) I was only going to be there one night so didn't need anything fancy, but this was ridiculous. The room was just large enough to hold the twin bed and not much more. But more importantly, the wall to the corridor was glass!!! Privacy, what privacy?? And, as I suspected from other comments, the room was "switched". The Spanish Steps Monet which I had booked, wasn't available, so they put me in another one. The only good thing I can say is that the location was good. And they've moved the place where you get the key. It is now at least a mile from where the room was. Very inconvenient -- especially with heavy bags. And they had no porter or transportation. Guess who got to lug the bags.

E' un hotel solo per una notte. Il disguido è che la reception è lontanissima (hotel Caravaggio e non Mirò) e alle 11 del mattino dopo bisogna restituire le chiavi per cui si va su e giù.

I had a beautiful romantic room, where the fragrance of its smell really absorbs the ambiance. It is clean even the bathroom. Monet is perfectly located near the Spanish Steps. For the check-in I had to go to Hotel Caravaggio but it was not a problem since they had explained to me the direction easily and they have given me a lot of advices to make my stay well oriented.

When we arrive, we were told that due to some "problem", the room we initially booked at the "Spanish Steps Monet" was not available. We were given a room at the Hotel Mirò (Via del Babuino 35). This other hotel was unfortunatelly a little bit further (300 meters) from "Piazza di Spagna". So be careful that if you specifically book the Spanish Steps Monet for its location, they might change your room without notice and you might be disappointed... Otherwise, the room at the Hotel Mirò was perfect : very clean, quiet, modern and new furniture, nice private bathroom, nice staff and a continental breakfast was included.

We were asked to pay in advance for the whole 4 days of ouy staying without further explanation and common areas are as small as you can imagine. On the other hand, the room and the toilet are clean and quiet and the location of the place is superb!

At arrival the management had changed our reservation to Van Gogh Hotel, which was the check-in location of our original reservation. The evaluation is for Van Gogh Hotel with Bed & Breakfast Spanish Steps Monet price. The location is ideal for visiting classical places in Rome.

Not lavish by any stretch and a bit of a cell of a room up three flights of stairs with no elevator, but it´s €80 in the heart of Rome right by the Spanish Steps. The rooms are air-conditioned and have a tv and good bathroom, so the facilities are fine. You won´t get a view and it becomes a bit annoying having to go to Locanda Van Gogh every time to get your key and have someone come and open the front door for you (the rooms are basically just in a residential apartment block down from Locanda Van Gogh and right next to a very good restaurant - Al 34). Comfortable enough but make sure you´re up to climbing 3 flights of stairs with your bags. The room is adequate and you shouldn´t be spending too much time in it with all the sights of Rome anyway!

We were made to feel welcomed from the very beginning. The staff were competant and always willing to help with any questions or advice. The only downside is the breakfast room is a little on the small side, but this is nothing to worry about when everything else is done so well! Location is amazing and offers good value as well.

The room was very small. Did not look like the picture. The last night of our stay, the neighbor below us had a party. Loud music until 2:00 a.m.

The location was perfect, and the staff very nice and helpful. Unfortunately there was construction work being done in the building where the annex/bed and breakfast is located, which meant there was a lot of dust and debris around, as well as a bad smell at times.

The Hotel Monet is no more of a hotel than a bombed out police station in Baghdad! We were offered a room in a building which was completely under construction which, in the UK, would not have been given a habitation certificate. There were holes in the walls on every floor, there were wires hanging from most of them, there was scaffolding both back and front, and there were men constantly drilling. The view from our window was of workmen walking across scaffolding. We had to pass by bags of cement, tiles and other building materials in the entrance hall before we even reached the holed-out staircase. A disgrace. Never again.

Have stayed here many times. Rooms are basic but it is the location that is the real selling point for this property. A great base to explore the city.

This is a nice place to stay. The rooms are basic but clean and offer a great base from which to explore Rome. Staying in the Spagna area is a privilege and walking out into the streets is a nice feeling so any shortcomings which the rooms may have are soon forgotten as you wander around the area. Good value!

The rooms are really nice. And clean. And the bathroom is also fresh. The air-condition was causing some difficulties. It was hard to adjust it. It's really hot in Rome in august, so you look forward to chill off in the room. But it sometimes gets off, and you have to go to the hall to put it on again. Or during the night it's gets sooo cold. But then again, you don't really go to Rome for the air-condition so it's no big deal. Another thing though. On the web it says that the adress is the street-number 33. It is correct, but the reception is in 37C. There are no signs, so it took us a few phonecalls until we finally figured it out. Otherwise, Rome is great!!!

Good location but a surprisingly small room. Not a problem if you don't plan on spending any time in the room - guys, don't go with a girlfriend as it is a little too claustrophobic.

The room was adequate. However, we had power loss for 2 hours. The night time staff was not prepared for it even though they were notified 7 days in advance. They escorted us to our room in total darkness, and did not even provide us with a candel or flashlight until we made major complaints. All other staff shifts were friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. Located in excellent location.

It was truly an excellent location. The privacy of our small but intimate apartment was perfect. The lovely young woman at the front desk was always helpful. She spoke English and helped us find the "local" spots. We will visit Rome again and our stay will once again be at the same place.
