Nice B&B. Good breakfast: coffee, tea, fresh squeezed juice, soft boiled eggs, yogurt, toast, pastries, butter, jams, nutella, cheese. All rooms have private bath (some attached to room, some across hall), close to subway. Owner speaks a little English, maid speaks none.

We got off to a bad start as the room description and reality did not match. The suite for 4 people is really one large bedroom and separate bathroom down the corridor. Disappointing as we had particularly wanted two rooms. Also no public rooms or balcony that we saw. Mostly a problem of translation I think. Otherwise it was clean, fairly quiet except morning traffic and breakfast was excellent.

Very nice and clean place. The breakfast was a lot better than one could expect in Rome. We knew that the bathroom was not en suite, but it did not turn out to be a problem at all. A great terrace where we sat and had our breakfast. There was heavy traffic from early morning. Our host was helpful, but as he pointed out, his English was "little"!

Felice was more than happy to answer our questions and give us directions. Since we're traveling for a month, we had 3 bags for the 2 of us. After the first night, Felice upgraded us to a bigger room so we had more space, free of charge! And Elena made sure we had plenty to eat for breakfast, and even brought it too our room! A bit further from the ceneter than other places but it's a nice neighborhood, with grocery store & fountain a block away, and metro & bus a few blocks in the opposite direction. Colosseum is still only a 20 min walk. We really enjoyed our stay! The street is pretty busy on week days, so street side rooms might be noisy for some, but wasn't too bad for us

For the price its good valve, safe ,clean, well done up inside. Cenral to most places you can walk to most attactions and close to metro shops and bus. Its only four rooms and you have to walk a short distance to bathroom but the breakfast is the best sois the manger

The place is kept very clean. The room is very spacious with a terrace (something rare in Rome). The breakfast is just unbelievable. I like the family atmosphere that Santa Croce offers. The only drawback for me is that the bathroom is not inside the room itself. I highly recommend Santa Croce.

It was my second time in Rome and second time within the same area - near Termini Railway Station and Vittorio Emanuele Square. Perfect localization especially for those who arrive very late and cannot catch metro or regular bus lines - within a walking distance from Termini. Nice area, a little bit of traffic noise every morning, but no fiestas and other loud nightly activities. We took a room for 3 that was very spacious and bright. Hostel, room and bathroom very clean, everyday service very kind and quiet. A small fridge with cold drinks in our room for our disposal (extra payment) was very appreciated. Huge breakfast everyday - something unbelievable in Italy! If you want your breakfast to be a bit more than a cup of coffee and marmolade accompanied by a croissant you MUST choose this hostel. Freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, cheese, ham, eggs, jam, rolls and croissants is all you need to start an exhausting seightseeing day in Rome. I would definitely recommend this hostel as your touristic base in Rome.

We had a very good experience. The host and staff were welcoming and helpful, our room was large, comfortable and very clean, breakfasts were excellent (large enough to make sandwiches from the cold meat for eating later!) - and nice to have them served in the room. Good internet access. No problem having to walk down corridor to our private bathroom. The location is good too. 5 minutes from Manzoni Metro station, so a good way to and from Ciampino Airport is to take the shuttle bus between Ciampino and the end of the Metroline (Anagnina) and then Metro to Manzoni (2.5 euros total, and fast and reliable). Easy 15 minute walk to Colosseum and Forum area; good supermarket around the corner, patisserie next door and other delis nearby. A very good base for visiting Rome. Good value for money and highly recommended.

A little more detail with regard to getting to the B&B from the metro station would have been helpful. However, we arrived on foot without difficulty. This was our first trip to Rome and we were thrilled with the hospitality and breakfasts offered here. It was a wonderful intro to our Europe trip.

We loved the Sant Croce B&B. It is a little challenging to find, but we walked from Termini and eventually found the (small) sign. We knew our room would be small, and it was, but otherwise had everything needed, very clean and well-appointed. The only negative was that the tv only had Italian-language stations, but, after all, we were in Rome. Our room looked out on a courtyard and was very quiet. Our bathroom was private, but down the hall (again, we knew this in advance). and it was really no problem except for juggling keys. The bathroom was excellent; clean, spacious, well appointed. The included breakfast was just as great as everyone reports. It's hard to epress how varied and plentiful it was--more than two people could ever eat. Cold cuts, cheeses, toast, bread, wonderful sweet rolls, boiled eggs, cereals, juice, coffee, yogurt and more that I am probably forgetting, all beautifully prepared and served. The hosts were right there when we arrived about 1 PM and were so accomodating. Language is a problem, as not much English is spoken, but we got along fine. I especially appreciate the car service that was arranged for us on our last morning to get to the airport--not expensive and so welcome since it was raining hard. The location is fine; we walked everywhere, even at night and didn't feel uneasy. The Colosseum is about a mile straight south and there are cafes and a supermarket nearby. All in all, a wonderful experience in Rome. I'd recommend Santa Croce to anyone.

This was a great place to stay at! It is priced right, the staff was friendly (but their english is not great), and the location and type of room was wonderful! You did have a bathroom down the hall to yourself so it wasn't something I would complain about. But the water pressure and temprature of the water was very weak and cold with flashes of hot water... other than that it was a perfect place with no complaints! :)

An excellent B & B accommodation, with good service, good breakfast and great room. Toilet and shower in the corridor but was a bathroom for each room. The owner was flexible when we twice had to go very early in the morning, we had a simple breakfast but just as tasty and plentiful. The other morning we had breakfast served in your room with fresh bread and fresh squeezed jouse including Close to all attractions, about 10 minutes. walk to the Colosseum and the same distance to the Metro. Good restaurants nearby. We recommend this B & B to anyone traveling to Rome for a good and affordable accommodation.

Good sized rooms, comfortable clean, new bathrooms. Very friendly owner, good breakfast served fresh every morning .Bathrooms are not on suite , but did not find this a problem. Walking distance to Colosseum and Metro stop but further from Termini station than appears on map. Area is not good , OK during the day but not to be around at night. Quite noisy but that is true for all of Rome . B & B a bit unusual - apartment in a semi residential area. Good value for Rome where nothing is cheap ... but if you are on a short visit maybe consider paying the premium and staying closer to the center.

We were lucky to have the new room with private bathroom. However, we saw the other room with a bathroom in the balcony, which is a bit scary. The hotel staff are nice and helpful. I down rated the service and facility offered simply due to the unsatisfactory breakfast provided (basically are some packed bread and cookies with instant coffee) Overall it is a very nice palce, clean and central, for budget travellers.

The room is very big with arctic decoration and a terrace. The breakfast is very good with fresh juice and good coffee. You can eat in your room or in the small restaurant. The bathroom is private but outside the bedroom. Every door needs to be additionally locked with key. The owner is kind and friendly but can speak little English. But basic hotel communication is OK. It is near the metro station and about 10 mins away from the Closseum. However, the scale of the web map is strange and make we walk about 30 mins from the termini station. Actually the traffic is convenience.

Santa Croce turned out to be well worth the money. We were welcomed by a sweet young women , she didn't speak English which made it challenge. But she did a wonderful job cleaning our room daily and wonderful yummy breakfast delivered to our room every day. Location was good, near the terminal although we took taxi to and from the airport. That worked perfect. Pay $40 euro max for taxi. Thank you Santa Croce.

We were very well looked after by the owner who kindly accommodated us for a further extra 5 nights due to the Icelandic volcanic ash causing flight cancellations. However he spoke very little English so communication was difficuly. He was also very helpful with things like doing our washing for us as we had to stay for longer than booked. However the traffic was very noisy even though we were on the 4th floor. Also although the bathrooms are private, they are NOT ensuite. Location was excellent for sightseeing. Breakfast was a feast!

We rented the Bed and Breakfast Santa Croce in the San Giovanni area. It was very close to the metro and very reasonable at 89 euro per night. We had a lovely room with a comfortable queen bed, marble floors, and a private terrace over looking the street four floors below. The bathroom, though across the hall was reserved for us only and we had a key for that too. It had a luxurious soaker tub, shower and vanity with plenty of space to put all toiletries. The TV which we barely had time to turn on had only channels in Italian. The city traffic in Rome is crazy and noisy but for a few hrs in the early morning. I think this is the case anywhere in the city. The evenings were warm and I couldn't help wondering how warm it would be in the heat of the summer. There was a floor stand fan but saw no air-conditioner. The best part of the B&B was the owners who did everything to make the stay great. The breakfast was fantastic! We gad the best hot coffee fresh squeezed orange juice, breads, danish, prosciutto, cheeses, and even hot scrambled eggs and ham. We would stay here again!

Best b&b of our Italian holiday. Though there aren't any cafes/restaurants on the same street, there's a bakery next door, supermarket/bank/take-out pizza meters away and it's near the oldest (and possibly cheapest) gelato place(towards the train station) in Rome. It's a short walk from the main train station (the area around which is safe and very active). Though little English is spoken our host couldn't have been more accommodating. Breakfast was big and not the same everyday. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Nice place, a converted apartment/condo. No air conditioner, but a floor fan was adequate. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast, which we ate on the balcony, the best we had on our trip. Easy walk from the train station, and convenient metro stop. Not in a touristy part of town, it took a couple of days to discover the local restaurants. The only real negative things were the lack of internet capability, and the doors squeaked a lot.

The breakfast was good, the location wonderful, the rooms and bathroom were very clean and spacious. This would have been a great place to stay if it had air conditioning. Unfortunately it didn't, and we were forced to keep the windows open to stay cool, and some of our party were kept up half the night by the noise of the traffic. I would stay here again, but only at a cooler time in the year.

The B&B was very clean & cozy. Our "private" bathroom was very clean, but it was not in our room as we thought. It was in the hallway but the key was only given to us, so it was private in some sense I guess. The room did not have a fan or AC, so it was really hot. Unless they install a fan or AC, I will probably not stay here in the summer again. Otherwise it was excellent. The hosts were very friendly.

Excellent breakfast for a B&B, served inside room. However, there is no staff 24 h available at B&B, only by mobile. There is no air conditionated or ventilators to keep comfortable temperature at room. If you open window glasses to ventilate, sorrounding traffic noise is high. They didn't even change towels each day (normal at any accommodation) and didn't provided hygienic paper when missed. Not good environment. Hotel sorroundings (sidewalks) are poor cleaned. Payment only by cash.

My friend and I stayed at Santa Croce B&B for 3 nights in mid April. We chose Santa Croce B&B for its good value and proximity to the historical sites. Our expectations were not only met but exceeded. Our twin bedroom was very spacious, modern and clean. The bathroom was outside the bedroom, but this wasn't too much of an inconvenience as we seem to be the only guests making use of it. I believe the other bedrooms had an en-suite. Felice, the owner, was most charming and welcoming. And so was the person working for him. Both of them answered all our queries and needs. With a little bit of English and Italian we managed to understand each other. Breakfast was served in our room and was tasty and plentiful (ham, panettone, toast, orange juice, jogurt, cheese, ...). When I informed Felice I had to leave very early on my last day, he offered to leave a "self service" breakfast in the kitchen for me. Without fail, a small breakfast was awaiting me in the kitchen at 7am the next day. This gesture was very much appreciated. Santa Croce B&B is only 10/15 minutes by foot from the Coliseum and Roman Forum and only 5minutes by foot from the nearest tube station. This is most convenient. This B&B is located on the fourth floor of a building facing an avenue and if there is a small negative point to be brought up it would be the traffic noise. My friend is sensitive to noise and therefore had to wear earplugs. As for me I wasn't much disturbed by it. Rome being Rome, I can only imagine that perhaps noise is unavoidable. In summary, I highly recommend this unpretentious B&B who is good value for money and whose host is an absolute gem.

The host was very accommodating and helpful although lack of sufficient English was a hindrance at times. The breakfast was generous and good. The room did not have a bath ensuite, but the "exclusive" use of a bath down the hall worked all right. The location was very good in terms of access to sites, especially historical, such as coloseum and forum, etc.

Excellent B&B. Easy to find and only 15 mins from Termini. Spacious and newly decorated. Very friednly hosts and wonderful breakfast (bread, ham, cheese, ceral, yoghurt, fesh jucie, coffee, cakes, tarts etc) served on our terrace each morning. Handy location with access to nearby metro station Manzoni. Secure location and lift to rooms. Only problem is the noise on the street but I think this is similar anyhwere in Rome. Would definitely stay here again.
