San Michele a Porta Pia B&B reviews

B&B San Michele at Porta Pia does not fullfill my expecations at all regarding the rooms in reality compared with the pictures on the web site. The pictures that show spacious double rooms with private bathroom and balcony for 100 euro per night during October represents just very few of the double rooms with private bathrooms at this B&B. Our double room was very small with a tiny balcony but still the price was 100 euro + tourist tax and 5 euro in credit card fee per day. Absolutely not worth the money payed. We stayed at this B&B 2 times in October, (Pre-booked, rebooking unfortunately not possible if not done 30 days in advance) and got much smaller rooms than the pictures show but still for 100 euro + the extra charges. The room was so small that 80% of the room was the bed and very small place for the suitcase. I would not recommend this place. The pictures of the rooms on the web site do not represent majority of the rooms. The good part was the very friendly and service minded Philipines staff and the breakfasts were also quite good. Upon arriving, it took us 30 minutes to be attended to by staff whilst we were left standing out on the street in the hot sun with all of our luggage. Once shown to our room we were dissapointed to be allocated a very small room with a bathroom down the hall when we had booked en suite. The room itself contained a fan and TV, which could not be used at the same time as the plug sockets did not work. The air Con unit was charged at an additional 5 Euro per night but was ineffective due to the heat ( not necessarily the owners fault). Three days into our stay and our bathroom had still not been cleaned, we ran out of toliet paper and were forced to keep drying and re-using the same towels as we had NO WAY of contacting ANY staff due to them being based in a building down the street which had a locked door which no one ever ansnwered. WE had to email the business from our room to get clean towels and more toilet paper. Other than the dissapointing staff, the B & B had nice communal areas and was perfectly situated to explore the city. The price we paid was far too much given we were treated as though it was a hostel not a B & B. a few doors down however Tribeca Cafe provided excellent food and wines with a great atmosphere so was the saving grace of our trip.

Very nice B&B in a local neighborhood, with good prices, clean, comfortable rooms with a nice terrace for evening relaxations. Closely located to bus stops, great restaurants and local markets. Great local experience staying close to the locals and the interaction was great. Excellent breakfast for B&B standards, although you had to pay extra (5 EU, a great value for Italy), but we did not mind as we had a discount for the number of nights stayed. Great reception by the staff and very helpful with directions of how to get around

Good location, well connected with public transp. Room with toilet at 6th floor is too small with a small bed and part of a noisy flat (slim door).

The bedroom/bathroom was well decorated, nice, clean and spacious. The dinning room correct. Breakfast with classic music. Well communicated with the center of the town by bus, and even you could reach main touristics points on foot.

The bed and breakfast at Porta Pia exceeded my expectations for accommodations in Rome. The location was very easy to get to and easy to find. We felt very safe in the area and heartily welcomed when we arrived. We were given some great ideas for sight seeing and restaurants. The breakfast was sparse, but sufficient. The staff was very friendly. We enjoyed our room with a balcony very much. The bathroom down the hall was very clean and spacious. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we would definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay here. Hosts were charming and accomodating. Clean, spacious and accessible. No waiting at all for WC. Only problem is that the website claimed free parking which was inaccurate. This seemed to be a website problem however. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

The place has quite a suitable location (not far from Roma Termini but in a residential area). All the sights can be easily reached by bus.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice with a large balcony. Try to book an inside room as the outside rooms are incredibly noisy. Take a bus from the train station, don't walk - it's further than it looks! Overall, very good choice.

we had a beautifull (clean) room, in a quiet street, overlooking an innersquare(ask for a quiet room!),real nice. Very friendly welcome, helpfull staff! A good place to stay, for a good price, central located; close to the park(walking distance),good bus-connection to the historical centre One minus; the breakfast was/is extremely poor! But we found a good, good place to have breakfast and tasty cappucino's(for 1 euro only!)around the corner! We would go and stay here next time we are in Rome

I had room 5 in the building on Via Messina 31, so my statements are limited to this room. The Room was OK but small and a little bit noisy. Particularly noise from the next door room. The landlord was obliging and helpful. The breakfast was substantial and good. Unfortunately the breakfast time ended at 09:30,too early for my taste, all the more that the breakfast room was situated in a building some houses away from the one I had my room.

Very good hotel, owners were very helpful and very keen to tell you places to visit and the correct buses etc to get there, which was very useful, perhaps a better map could of been provided, however we found it ok and had a lovely time while in Rome, the restaurant the owner recommends to go to is very very nice!

We had a excellent stay in Rome at San Michele a Porta Pia. It was a familiar atmosphere, our host was really welcoming and always trying to fulfill all our wishes. Especially the breakfast on the terrace was very nice. Probably one of the best places to be in Rome.

The location was good and can be easily found with a good map. The room was clean and of good standard. The breakfast was good - fresh food. Overall very good value. The only problem I encountered was the address was no. 25 on the street but the bedrooms was further down the street while breakfast was at no. 15. Perhaps this should be outlined when booking
