Air conditioning not really working (very weak)

United Kingdom, Jun 2009
Ten of us stayed at Pace in three rooms for a girls weekend and found the apartments just what we needed. There was air conditioning in the bedrooms, and the showers were excellent. The kitchens were basic but who needs that when there are plenty of nice and reasonable restaurants on the doorstep. The location was excellent and we were able to walk to all the major sites during the day and at night Piazza Navona and Campo di Fiori were within 5 minutes walk. The apartments were also excellent value for money, especially for bigger groups. This did mean that some of us were on put you up beds, giving the apartments a feeling of being full and a little squashed when we were all getting ready, but with so much to see in Rome, this was not really a problem. There was also the public area between the apartments with a mirror and plugs that we could spill out into. All in all, everybody in the group was really happy with where we were staying and would return again. The hotel next door was also very helpful in ordering three taxis for us when it was time to leave. However, I would advise getting a taxi from the airport as I could imagine it could be quite hard to find when you first get there.

Excellent location close to Piazza Navona. Roma is possible to reach by foot from this location. We used the Metro only once. We had a kitchen,so we made our own breakfast. Please clean up after breakfast in order to avoid ants invation.

Pace was in an excellent location, just minutes from piazza navona on foot. Every monument was in walking distance; the colloseum-15mins, trevi fountain-10 mins, pantheon-7 mins, vatican city-30 mins, spanish steps-20 mins. you have to be aware that this is not a hotel, so there is no 24 hour desk service. but, there is a hotel right next door, and they help out with any problems or questions you may have. i arrived at 2 in the morning, and it is the hotel's desk person who provided us with keys, a map and other information. the first night in rome was not very comfortable as our airconditioner was not wokring, while this was annoying, Lucia(the owner of the B&B) changed our room first thing in the morning. Lucia does NOT speak english, but once again the people at the hotel helped communicate wiht her. They speak perfect english, and can also arrange taxis for you. Overall staying here was a wonderful experience, it was clean, well located, spacious and comfortable. i would definitely recommend this BnB.

This was my 7th visit to Italy, and my 4th to Rome. It was the best accomodation I have stayed in for location and value for money. I am a single mature female traveller. The rooms were a bit noisy, but everything else made up for it. Maybe the other 2 apartments might have been quieter.

What a pleasant surprise. This was our first trip to Rome, and we'd been told not to expect much in accommodations, but we were very happy with the room. It was very tight on space for three of us, but charming, a quiet oasis in the midst of the the noise and bustle of Rome - a short walk to so many of the places we wanted to visit, and the perfect place to drop, exhausted, into bed for a peaceful night's sleep at night. Like others, our main contact was the hotel next door, not affiliated, where we retrieved the key cards. All in all, a very positive experience and we would stay here again.

The apartment is located very central, but there is a disco in the neighbourbuilding which is open until 4am, and the windows don't help much on the noise - it would be impossible to sleep without earplugs. Maybe we were just unfortunate, but the pump in the toilet went of, so that "used" water were sprayed in the entire bathroom, and the floor was under water. We were unable to get in touch with the responsible for a day, so that was rather disgusting. I wouldn't recommend this appartment to anyone - mostly because of the noise at night. Space, cleanliness and beds were ok, and the location perfect if your hearingimpared.

if you want a cheap appartment for a break in rome then this is for you. the appartment is tucked away in an excellent location. most nights of the week are quiet at night, but be aware that on a friday and saturday there is a club just 2 doors down the road that spills on to the streets untill around 4am. the staff didnt speak much english, but were very friendly. we were locked out at one stage and luckily another group there new where the spare keys were, just a little concerning on the safety front! overall pretty good.

Though the room is pretty small and the environment noisy, I would certainly recomment this place as it is situated in one of the best spots in Rome. We were informed that because of the kitchenette the breakfast was cancelled (which makes this place an apartment). Do not expect any personal attention. Price-performance is relatively good

The location is really good, 2 minutes from Piazza Navona. The only difficulty is getting the keys of the apartments
Family Group
United Kingdom, Jun 2005
We were given an address and a phone number, but when we arrived in rome we got no response from either. We had to knock on the next-door hotel to get the key, and a map of where we were staying (not a few steps from Piazza Navona as the page said, but near the Area Sacra di Largo Argentina). After walking there we were unable to open the door, so we had to walk back to the hotel and ask him to call the owner (since he had a different number that actually worked). She told us to turn the key, then pull the door, then turn a bit more. So we finally got the door open. That night we found that there was no hot water. When we complained about that the next day, she said she'd come the next morning to fix it, leaving us with no hot water for 2 out of 3 nights. It turns out that they like to keep the boiler turned off to save power, but don't give out any instructions about how to switch it on. Despite being listed as a bed and breakfast, there was no breakfast. A lot of the light bulbs were broken, so the place was very dim until the owner came to fix the water and changed the bulbs. We complained about all this, and got one night free (out of 3), so I guess in the end it was an OK deal.

This apartment is in a great part of town. It is well decorated but the kitchen is badly equipped - no saucepan and no corkscrew for example! The sofa bed was tiny and could barely fit two people on it. We arranged to be let in at a particular time but we were a little late and the person had already left and we got the key from the bar downstairs although that wasn't a major problem. Walls between the apartments are very thin although street noise was minimal.

This is a great place to stay! It is very clean and appears to be newly renovated. There is an efficiency kitchen if you want to cook. The only drawback for non-smokers is that it smells heavily of smoke. There is an air conditioner, and it works really well. The location is perfect! It is located approximately half way between the Vatican City and the Roman Forum, and it's just a few blocks from the Pantheon. It's right around the corner from Piazza Navona, which is a popular place to eat and hang out at night. Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps are within walking distance, too. The owner is very nice. We weren't expecting to pay for everything when we checked in, so she let us pay for one night and the pay for the rest a few days later (after we had a chance to go to an ATM). I have no complaints and feel very fortunate that I found this place.

The location of the appartments was excellent! Walking distance from all the must-see-site and great restaurants. The appartment was reasonably clean as we arrived but we stayed for 6 days and a part from the plummer that had to come and fix the hot water we didn't see anyone to refresh the towels or check the toiletpaper? The greatest downside was the terrible disco on friday and monday from 12-5 in the morning. No 'pace'(peace) at all!

The only problem we experienced was making the initial connection with the owner to get the key. Turns out the key was left a few doors down with a local hotel. Everything was perfect after that though!

We had a wonderful week in Rome, and this flat was an ideal location for us, as our friends were staying at the hotel next door. We did all our business through the hotel next door, in fact, and didn't meet the people who rented us this flat. I had good clear email correspondence with Claudia before we arrived, and she organised a really good value and efficient taxi for us, too.

A great place, right in the middle of everything, completely quiet, which is incredible for that location in Rome, room was absolutely clean, the people at the reception extremely helpful and the pizzeria next door a pleasant surprise. There was a small kitchen I wasn't aware of, I didn't use it but it'd prove great for a longer stay. I'd certainly go back without any hesitation. It's not possible to not like it unless you're American... I think their presentation on the web site should be improved, as the place is better than shown.

We were extermly happy with the apartment and location. The only area of concern we had was that there is no staff on the premises so you need to confirm a time of arrival so that someone can be present to let you in. The gentleman in the hotel next door kindly called them for us and we waited 15 minutes for them to arrive to let us in. It's also cash only which needs to be paid upfront.

The hotel is well situated in regards to access to all areas of the City of Rome. The rooms are modern, with polished wooden floors and marble bathrooms. The staff are friendly, and knowlegeable . They DO NOT however accept Travellers Cheques as stated!

Pluses: Location is perfect, and the building is nice. Close to every attraction, and there are a lot of really good cheap places to eat/drink/shop around. Room has everything you need including fridge, stove, plate etc, though it’s really tiny. Still, because windows and high ceilings you don’t feel caged. Minuses: most of the time nobody’s around. You cannot get your breakfast the time you need it, and there are nobody to report the problem to (no hot water for 2 days in our case). The breakfast you are getting (in our case 2 days out of 4) would set you off about 2 euro in a bar downstairs, so better bargain for the price WITHOUT breakfast. And it’s incredibly noisy. Friday and Saturday night you feel like sleeping in the middle of the party, even with windows closed. Still, I think it’s a fair price for location. Just be prepared….

There is no table to sit down where you can enjoy your meals, would be nice since there is a small, but all OK, kitchen. There is a big desk though that is really not needed. A bit noisy from the room above and from the hall, so if you get neighbors with late habits you will get disturbed, but only a bit and you probably have that problem everywhere. Not much daylight penetrates the windows, so it is a bit dark. But I still recommend this place due to its location, its cleanliness and its standard. I would consider to stay here again when returning.
