At the outset, let me say that Mr. Frills worked out wonderfully for myself and my husband over our few days touring Rome in the end of March 2010. The b&b is hard to find at first but well worth the scavenger hunt. You have to look closely for the name plate on the building and it sort of looks like the entire building might be vacant. Inside is surprisingly lovely and has an old world elevator (and a stairs option for an alternative). We also had some difficulty getting the keys from the owner, but luckily a nice b&b flat-mate from Germany studying medicine in Rome helped us out by calling the owner so we could check-in. (He also showed us to a fine grocery nearby and we all cooked and shared a delicious meal at the flat in the well-stocked kitchen-- with one exception: the kitchen only had dull knives, which made cooking difficult but added a nice sentiment. This is actually all true.) We had a continental breakfast at the b&b every morning (from whatever included cereals or pastries were stocked there) which gave us a nice jump start to the day. The location was great. It was on the perimeter of the terrific piazza with beautiful flower stands everywhere and a charming children's amusement area. The accommodations were surprisingly nice, clean, spacious, modern and sleek for the price -- a great value, for sure. (We had a duplex, loft-style unit. Very cool.) Some guests stayed for longer periods and others were in an out for a night. Guests were a mix of young and mature singles and couples -- everyone seemed to share the common spaces nicely. Most people were either friendly or polite and kept to themselves. The b&b was a fondly memorable aspect to our visit to Rome and we recommend Mr. Frills whenever possible.

This is one of the best hotel/hostel/b&b experience ever. It is an apartmant complex very centrally located in Rome. Easy to get to from the train station and great acsess to the city by subway or just by foot. The rooms are very nice and clean, great bed and great bathrooms. The breakfast is avarage, bread, different types of jam, nutella, cereal, milk and juice. You can also have some cookies if you like :) The best thing was the service provided by the owner. He was very friendly and helpful with tips about were to go and what to see. I absoulutly recommand this place for anyone travelling to Rome. Very good value for the money!

The building was hard to find as it is not clearly identifiable as it is a B&B in an apartment complex and no name externally identified it. Directions on the website were good. Easy walking distance to the Termini and major tourist attractions and metro stop. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. You need to specify though what time you would be arriving so that he can meet you as he does not live there. Very clean. Good cooking facilities and large refrigerator

We called the owner on arrival and he came to the property promptly, check in was quick but credit cards were not accepted so we had to pay cash, he was willing to wait until the next day for payment. Lots of maps and travel books available for use. Breakfast was typical of Rome, nothing flash, toaster didn't work, owner removed it when I told him about it. The noise and light from the street on Saturday night meant we didn't get much sleep, Sunday was better. Try to get a back room. The owner was fine to deal with, very reasonable friendly man. Gave us a couple of restaurant recommendations, one was booked out, we ate at the other and it was excellent. It was good value considering the price of rooms in Rome.

I would stay here again and recomend it to others. Ryanair transfer bus drops you off at the station in central Rome for 14 euros return. Mr Frills is 15 mins from the station on two roads so no need for taxi if bags on rollers. Only used public transport once to get to Vatican early. The rest of Old Rome easily walkable from B&B. Resturants at the back of Mr Frills and near by were great. So could stay out visiting sites till 19:00 get back to Mr Frills and then use local area to eat at 21:00. Rooms were big, internet was live, and the kitchen was well stocked with the basics for B&B. A large communial room off the kitchen allows you to eat at a table and also relax with fellow guests in the easy chairs. A large collection of guide books on Rome proved useful, to answer questions that arise after a days sight seeing. The owner was very helpfull in so many ways and let us leave our bags at Mr Frills on the last day so we could pick them up just before catching the return coach to the airport.
