This small and nice guesthouse is centrally located.

Very noisy location, but clean and safe. There is a market out front. Perfect for getting fruit, buying earrings, or clothes... but bad for getting sleep.

We are a young couple n we stayed at Montebello for 4 nights. The room was quite empty..but very clean. It was a little cold there, since they didn't have the central heating on. The next day they did, but the room was too spacious to warm up anyway. Dispite that, everything else was great! The shower, hot. The bed, king size. The hair dryer, powerful. The towels, clean n changed every other day. The welcome, friendly. They even planned us 4 days of schedule. Overall, I think Montebello is a pretty good place for budget travellers. :) P.S. One thing I think I should mention. Our own toilet was next to our room, but it was outside of the room.

Very disappointed to find that the "single" room had TWO bunk beds instead of one single bed. And no TV.

Its a grate place to stay in Rome – good location (you can reach a lot of famous places by walking in 10-15 minutes), the rooms are clean and the owners are very helpful and nice. I definitely recommend Monotobello B&B!!!

Great location, and even there are no employees there permanently, the time he was (when welcoming), was very warm and helpful. Only two comments: on the street outside there is a market every morning, so as early as 05.30 there is noise (in the room that gives to the street). Also, the way road the station to the hotel might seem scary late at night.

This was a great place for us to stay as a young couple. Fantastic base for exploring the beautiful city of Rome. Only downside is the noise outside if you have a room on the street - the garbage is collected every night at 11.30pm for about 10 minutes, which is very noisy if you have the window opened for the cool air to come in at night in summer. Also, there's a little market on the street which is set up every morning at around 6 am. This is only relevant if you're very sensitive to noise while trying to sleep - my partner slept right through it. I'd recommend taking earplugs just in case. Clean and nice bedroom, clean bathroom and a perfect location right in the middle of Rome, very close to all the major sights. Two metro stations (Termini - also the main train station where you will arrive if you travel from the airport by train - and Repubblica on the Piazza Repubblica) are a 5-minute walk away. Friendly and helpful owners, though this is more of a DIY-place - they give you the keys at arrival and provide a very helpful tourist information. Good maps of Rome are free (they were the maps we used on our 5-day trip). All in all we had a very nice stay and the price/quality relationship was fantastic.

Of the 8 hotels we stayed at during our European vacation, this was one of my favorites. Montebello was modern, comfortable, and very peaceful - not the typical cheap hotel. The hotel's location was great for us. While it wasn't particularly close to the major sites (I think maybe a 20 minute walk to the Spanish Steps, 3.5 miles to Vatican City), it was very close to the train station and several metro stops. Our room was very calm and pleasant. It was spacious and simply but tastefully decorated. The bed was very comfortable - a rarity for hotels in this price range! Though there was no air conditioning (in Rome, in July), we were always comfortable, even in the middle of the day. The one drawback was some street noise at night. Via Montebello is not a noisy street, but apparently the collect trash and recycling nightly at midnight. Who knew? The shared bathroom was spacious, modern, and clean. I think it is shared by 3 or 4 guest rooms, but I only saw one other guest during my stay. Overall, this hotel was very pleasant and a great value for the price. I would definitely return.

Despite being a b&b no breakfast is provided. There's no air conditioning so when it's hot it's hot! Friendly owner who is very accommodating.

In general i was quite satisfied with a kind of service that was provided. The facility is most oriented towards a regular tourists, mostly young. I havent seen other rooms, the one i had was very comfortable, clean, exactly whow i expected it to be after the whole day of sightseeing.

The location of this hotel is excellent. 400 yards to Termini where you can access the whole of Rome. The market outside the hotel wasn't too noisy. The room was nice but it was not cleaned nor the towels changed for the 3 nights we were there. This said we wouldn't hesitate to go back. We suggest getting a better map/directions from Termini as the one on this site is confusing. Travellers going to Ciampino Airport should use the Terravision Transfer Bus (£10 return)which goes straight to Termini and from there the Hotel is a 2 minute walk. Terravision have a cafe there which does great coffee and croissants for a budget breakfast too.

Ideal place to stay for a few days... everything was good, it is not a "grand hotel", but it was clean, cheap and in a goog place into the city...that's why for me was perfect!!!

There is non personal every time you arrive in the room. Dirty room, especcially decks. They don't want to change them. Only bed, no breakfast. In the room there is tea filter to make yourself. Il personale è presente solo al momento dell'ingresso. Piumone e coperte sporche, non le cambiano. Stanza un po' rumorosa al mattino, no colazione. c'è scaldacqua per fare il te, ma nulla da mangiare.

This is actually not a B & B as you will read this in other ratings. They do provide Coffee to make yourself. You have a seperate bathroom although i do not know if every room is like this but ours was and we had to walk down the hallway to take a shower etc.But it was very clean and very easy process as far as check in and check out. It wasnt luxury but you do get what you pay for.Its very inexpensive, clean, hassle free and one thing in particular that we loved was that is was close to the Metro and train terminal which made it easy to go anywhere in Rome and go experience its beauty. Overall, we liked it cuz it allowed us to spend our money in other things we considered more important and we just cared about it being clean and affordable. Also the host at check in was helpful with coming up with a plan for us to see Rome in such a short time that we were there and his plan was excellent! The only thing is that check out is earlier then most places. Which is 9:30am and for us that was a bit early.

Montebello is our first stop through whole Italy travel this time. We were glad that ths location is very near to Station Termini. And the young lady welcoming us is very nice. Actually there was no breakfast at Montebello. But hot-water bottle, tea pack and instant coffee are available. Tableware also. Because staying near to Station Termini is so convenient, we never worried about breakfast. Morning market is just in front of our place, little noisy but very helpful for our wake-up on time. Good place to choose in Rome.

The hotel is located a short walk from the main train terminal and the start of most tours of the city. The area is full of pukka Italian Tratoria, which are reasonably priced, serving excellent food. The rooms were clean, and the owner was very welcoming and provided some good advise on the city and surrounds. Would not hesitate going back to this property, excellent value for money!

This is a do-it-yourself type of accomodation. The rooms were cleaned every day, linens and towels changed as needed, the proprietor gave me his contact information, but there was no regular on-site staff. The location was great, about 3 blocks from the Stazione Termini. There were plenty of shops, food, and a laundromat on the same street, plus a daily street fair. The neighborhood is ok; not upscale, but not scary either. No breakfast, but the price was extremely reasonable, the rooms were simple but clean and good-sized. Not for someone who relies on using hotel-type services, but I would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good base from which to see the city.

Hotel Montbello was great! Brand new furniture in a well finished apartment. I had almost exclusive use of a full bathroom with shower. The hotel staff was also very helpful, and spoke very fluent English.

We had a private bathroom and it got water everywhere. The shower leaked and it got worse and worse as the days passed (we were gald we brought our own slippers). The 'host' handed us the key when we arrived and we never saw him again. Don't expect any customer service.

The "nice, quiet" neighborhood that was described in the details of this place is so far from the truth it is amazing...the bars/discos in the area have people yelling in the streets until past 3AM and the "lovely" street market has people setting up their stalls and yelling at 5AM... and because there is no air conditioner in the apartment - this means you have to keep the window open in order to breath, but you get about 2 hours of sleep and that is with earplugs. Although David was there the first morning we arrived and of course on the last day when rent was due - I never saw him during our stay - therefore the "guest facilites" is also a myth. Sorry, but customer service is sorely lacking here.

Very good and clean rooms with private bathroom but no breakfirst. You can get good and cheap breakfirst in a coffee bar at Via Montebello/ Via Volturno. We also went into a coffee house that looked very good from the outside but breakfirst was very poor but anyhow very expensive.
