This is a great place to stay. It was just enough outside of the city to get away from the noise, but still close enough to the Colosseum and the metro station. The hostess was extremely nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Marlene, the host, is very nice and helpfull. She will do her best to help you and ensure you have a good stay. Our room was spacious and clean. It is possible to hear some noice from the corridor, but this is normaly not a big problem as there is only 3 rooms. The B&B is only 10min walk from the colloseum and from the train station, and 2min from the nearest metro station ( line direct to Vatican for exemple)

Marlu is a short walk away from Termini station, like other B&Bs in its category, it is located inside of the old apartment building. The B&Bs is an apartment with three guest rooms which makes it a cozy place. My room was a single room with the shared bathroom. Both have been great to use. The bed was comfortable, the room was warm (in early November), the apartment was welcoming, the bathroom was very clean, well designed and built and quite attractive. My stay was in low season and I ended up being the only person in the whole facility, so I enjoyed all the privacy, one-on-one visit with Marlene (the hostess), and the quietness of the place. Marlene is the best Roman host I have had and will be the one I will come back to during my next visit (I have been to Rome 5 or 6 times on short visits). For me, a great host is one of the reasons to return to a place. Marlene has been fantastic in all ways to the point of even allowing me to use the kitchen on my own on the morning of my departure as it was rather early. While not the fanciest neighbourhood of Rome, the location was perfect for me (close to the train station, close to historic centre, close to the metro/subway).

Lovely B & B, once you get familiar with the area - it is actually very very easy to get around with the metro and even walking distance to many things. Great restaurant less than one block down the street! The management persons are very friendly and very helpful. nice breakfast and nice other guests. I would definately stay there again if I have the wonderful opportunity to visit Italy again. Thank you

I can't say enough about Marlene and B&B Marlu. The location is excellent and very convenient to the train station via the Metro. My wife and I felt very much at home and Marlene went out of her way to help us with directions and suggestions of places to see. The B&B is really nice and it is in a very nice building with an elevator. I would absolutely reccommend it to anyone. We had a double room and shared a bathroom, which was never a problem. The place is very well kept and conveniently located for all of the major sites. We would definately stay there again.

The lady who runs the bed and breakfast was lovely. She was welcoming and very friendly. The only downside to the hotel was that we had quite a long walk to some of the main attractions of Rome.

Marlene is a charming, multilingual host! After a tiring flight from Canada, on our first trip to Rome, it was delightful to hear a friendly voice calling out our names as we approached the B&B on foot. We arrived a bit later than anticipated and Marlene was standing at the nearby intersection keeping an eye out for us. Having communicated directly with her by email, prior to our journey, she knew our travel plans. The B&B is exactly as advertised. We immediately felt very at much at home – it is her childhood home after all. Upon arriving, Marlene sat down with us to go over the map of Rome. As we enjoy walking, she recommended a number of scenic routes. Although the metro stop is very close to the B&B, we were able to visit the majority of Rome’s historic sites on foot. We were very pleased with our room, which had the private bathroom. It was very spacious and clean. The bed was quite comfortable. There was lots of wardrobe space, a small desk with a chair and a couch. It was nice to return to our “home” after running around Rome all day and be able to relax. B&B Marlu was “our home away from home” and we highly recommend it. We hope to be able to return to Rome someday and will definitely stay there again!

While planning our trip to Italy this fall, we used Venere.com to book at Marlu Bed and Breakfast. We started our vacation in Rome for 4-days, but returned to stay at Marlu for 2-nights before flying home. It was a little further out from the historical centre than our first stay, but the room MORE than made up for that. It was also extremely close to the subway (Metro) so it was not an issue at all for transportation. Marlene, the owner, was delightful, she answered all our questions, suggested tratorrias, and really worked hard at finding new things for us to see after we had been in Rome already. (checkout the gelateria around the corner - what a treat!) Marlu Bed and Breakfast was excellent value, with a spotlessly clean room, newly renovated bathroom, and nice breakfast room to start your day touring around Rome..!!!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Bed and Breakfast Marlu! I can't emphasize it enough. From the moment that we walked into the door, we were welcomed and treated like family. The owner, Marlene, made sure that she gave us information on anything and everything that we wanted to see. We were given an amazing breakfast every morning (the staff members who served us were always very kind and friendly) Marlene even came early to say goodbye to us. The rooms were beautiful. We had a spacious room and bathroom. We would highly recommend and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Marlu was a fantastic bed and breakfast. I had a private room with a twin bed, and shared a bathroom with only two other people. The breakfast was great and the conversation was equally enjoyable. The only drawback of this B&B is its location near the train station, but it is easy enough to take the Metro to a stop that is closer to the B&B and out of the "dangerous" parts of town. The convenience of the Metro made up for the location, and it was only a 15 minute walk into the heart of Rome. I highly recommend this B&B to travelers of any type, even those traveling alone (as I was).

Marlu is a welcoming, comfortable and friendly B&B in a fabulous location for exploring Rome on foot or metro, near to Termini and the Colosseum. The rooms are clean and comfortable, air-conditioned and quiet. Marlene welcomed us with great maps and suggestions for sight-seeing. We met interesting other guests over an ample breakfast. The rates are very good value. We will definitely stay again if we are lucky enough to return to Rome.

We really enjoyed the quiet personal B&B atmosphere for the five days we stayed, rooms and bed were of a good size, hard to find in Rome. Having the room with a shared bathroom was no problem as you only share with one other room. Breakfast was good but could be changed every second day to mix it up. Close to all transport making it easy to move around the city. Josephine & Marlene were very welcoming and gave good advise on local attractions & laundrymat.

Really enjoyed our stay! Marlene was a gracious hostess who was quite helpful. The B&B is her childhood apartment, converted to be a B&B. There are only three bedrooms and we occupied the only one with a private bath. Despite talk about the undesirable neighborhood south of the Termini Station, I found the area around the B&B quite comfortable and safe. There are subway stops located within easy walking distance in two directions. It was also an easy and pleasant walk to the Colosseum. We would definitely stay here again.

Marlu was close to the metro, the train station and excellent restaurants, in a quiet neighbourhood just out of the main tourist area. I was without my luggage for the first 4 days and the owner was extremely helpful. She supplied me with shampoo and soap free of charge and recommended affordable shops to buy other necessities. I couldn't have asked for a friendlier and more helpful hostess.

My 80th birthday! Our hostess was extremely helpful and gracious. She spoke excellent English and was able to direct our walking tours perfectly. The other guests were interesting and very friendly. We were within walking distance of colleseum, palantine and circus maximus. The metro was 3 blocks away. We found an excellent restaurant across street within the same block. Could not have asked for better accommodations!

I like the B&B, the host is nice and the room is clean, breakfast is ok, price is good. you can use their kitchen and home feeling is given. I don't like the location of the B&B, its too slient & dark downstair once dusk comes. But the nearest metro station is only 3 mins away from the B&B, so I highly recommend to couple. For single traveller, i may prefer a B&B in crowded area, and then i could go out anytime having a walk at night time. Except that, the Wifi connection is not stable at all, hope it will work better next time if i live there again. The price is really good, so what you expect more?!

We really enjoyed our staying at B&B Marlu. The owner Marlene was truly friendly, hospitable and helpful. The location of this accommodation is very comfortable, just in two blocks to the nearest metro station and the bus stop and the Colosseum is 15 min by walk. The room is specious and clean. At the breakfast you can have a chat with the owner and other tourists. We felt as if we were gests of our friend. We recommend this place to anyone who are going to stay in Rome.

We highly recommend this B&B! This was our first trip to Rome and wanted a spot near the main transportation hubs. Marlu is in a great location, just a short stroll to the metro. Any trip to Rome is not truly complete without a morning gathering at Marlu livingroom. Marlene is such a good hostess which understands very well her city and knows how to spread her knowledge about places to go and things to do (in perfect English). If you are used to this type of accommodation (or if you are switching from an hostel to this) it really worthies it (it's probably the best in central Rome). The only downsides: the location (I personally don't like it, but I know and understand that is pretty convenient), the wifi connection wasn't working properly (but I think it was a momentarily situation) and the room gets lighting early in the morning. Besides that, the room (even the single) is pretty spacious and the shared bathroom is beautiful and seemed always very clean. People who live in the building were all very cordial with me either!

The room we had was much larger & WAY nicer than expected and with airconditioning which is essential in Rome in summer. Marlene was fabulous so lovely & welcoming and breakfast each morning was substantial enough to keep us going until mid-afternoon. Close to two metro stations, it was so easy to get everywhere, plus it was one of the cheaper options we found in Rome, even cheaper than hostels and what you get more than what you normally would in Rome. Also it is just around the corner from the oldest gelatteria in Italy BONUS! I would recommend to anyone coming to Rome to stay here, we definitely will be if we come back.

Marlu was fabulous all-around. I would stay there again in a second. It was affordable, clean, well-located, and the hospitality is unlikely to be beaten. Our room was spacious and cool. Our bathroom looked like it could have been in an architectural magazine. The shower was fabulous (which is rare throughout Europe). Breakfast was wonderful and the company was fun. I travelled with my fifteen year old sister and everyone was great in helping engage her in the breakfast conversation. I really have nothing bad to say. My only hesitation in being so honest is that I don't want for word to get out and for them to be booked up next time!

My wife and I stayed at B&B Marlu in late March of 2009. We highly recommend this B&B for anyone staying in Rome. We have never felt more welcomed in all of our travels to Europe than at Marlu. Our host did everything to make us feel at home. Marlu is near Roma Termini, and one block from a Metro station. The neighborhood around the B&B is typical European urban, safe but not too spectacular (we are talking about Rome, after all). But easy access to the termini and the Metro make all of Rome and beyond easy to reach. We took a day trip to Pompeii by train and made it to the terminal within minutes. Also, the Colosseum is a short walk from Marlu. Our host spoke excellent English and also speaks German and some Spanish. She gave us wonderful sightseeing tips and seemed genuinely interested in what we had done in Rome and in ways of making our trip better. The rooms were quiet, well decorated, and immaculately clean. Marlu is on the third floor of a large building, but there is a lift. Breakfast was standard Italian and your host will go to great lengths to make coffee the way you like it. We stayed eight days at Marlu and they were wonderful indeed. We felt as if we were off the tourist merry-go-round and living like real Romans. Staying at Marlu was a large part of what made our time in Rome so special. We can't wait to go back.

Marlene and Eldix are the perfect hosts. Both quite young, friendly, hospitable and always eager to assist. My room was a single but it was huge. Building had a lift which was handy and was only a pleasant 15-20 stroll to the Colisseum. Around the corner is a sensational and quite famous gelateria. A perfect stay !! Would never stay anywhere else in Rome.

Marlene is the best B&B owner we've ever met! She gave us a map and reccommended us places and even routes to take when we arrived. Also, when I had a problem with my camera, she helped look for places where I could get it fixed. Chatting with her over filling breakfasts were good starts to each of my three days in Rome, and I highly reccommend this place to anyone who is looking for more than just a bright, spacious and clean room to stay in.

This place is just wonderful! Both Marlene and Eldrex made me feel so at home and provided me with so much useful information. It seems to attract great guests too, always a lively discussion going on over the plentiful breakfast. It is a little noisy at night with the traffic down on the street (but no problem with earplugs!) and the bed was a little soft for my liking. But otherwise, I can't fault the place. The room was lovely, and so clean. Would definitely recommend and return there myself.

The Marlu is a great find. Marlene and Eldix are great hosts, the place is clean and well furnished. We had the double room with bath. It was larger than most hotel rooms and the bed was very comfortable. Marlene greeted us on arrival and gave us walking directions to the sights and great restaurant suggestions. The subway is also just a couple of blocks away for more distant travel. The neighborhood appears safe - upscale residential, and other than the evening trash pick-up at about 11:00 is quiet for a city environment. The Marlu is far enough away from the tourist centers that it isn't full of night revelers, but close enough to walk to many of the ancient roman sights. It is also only a few blocks from the Railroad station. We appreciated the short walk so we didn't have to figure out Rome before settling in to our room. The personal care we were given added to our Rome experience and was well appreciated.

I had a lovely stay at Marlu -- the location is excellent, the price is affordable and the rooms are cute and clean. The staff were friendly and charming, and gave me great advice in my search for shoes (my size is hard to find). I liked that breakfast was timed every morning to be ready when we needed it, rather than self-serve. And after weeks of traveling without reliable internet access, the wifi at Marlu was a godsend. Sure, it's not totally silent at night, but it's much quieter than a lot of other places I've stayed in Italy. The B&B is off a main road, with traffic and passersby chatting and scooters buzzing by, so be aware of that if street noise is enough to ruin your stay. It certainly didn't ruin mine, but I'm a sound sleeper.

The owner is an absolute charm with very useful information. We really enjoyed her company and she was very accommodating. We stayed in a double room with a bath down the hall. The room was clean and spacious enough, but it got quite warm despite having an air conditioning unit. The breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, yogurt, pastry, and toast. Very well located and convenient to the metro station, Termini, historical sites, and good restaurants. There is a computer with internet available for use and a lift as an alternative to walking up the stairs. Only criticism was that credit cards were not accepted.

We were very pleased with our accommodation at Marlu. Room and bathroom were very nice (although private bathroom did not mean actually in our room). The location was excellent....we walked to all sites with the exception of the Vatican. Main train station and metro were a block away. Do not be put off by the graffiti that surrounds the hotel...unfortunately it is an epidemic in Rome. We felt perfectly safe walking. Breakfast was pretty basic, but edible.

We had a wonderful stay at Marlu Bed and Breakfast! It is very conveniently located, with 2 metro stations nearby, and close to the Termini train station as well. Our hostess, Marlene, was friendly and knowledgeable. Soon after our arrival, she gave us a map of Rome, showed us where all the principal tourist spots were, and the best way to get to them. When we wanted take the metro and bus to The Pantheon, she told us exactly what metro station to ride to and which bus to take from there. Breakfast was simple and light, which was just right since we spent the day enjoying pasta and gelato. The neighborhood around the Marlu B&B has restaurants, coffee shops, and stores, and we felt safe going out in the evening. I highly recommend Marlu Bed and Breakfast. Plus Marlu B&B gave us chocolate!
