Negativ: rooms old, need renovation, not really clean, dust on the windows frame and other places, mould in the bathroom, loosely tapware not enough hooks in the bathroom for towels, old dirty shower curtain... detaching wallpapers breakfast ok (but no Italian specialities (not 4 stars as Atlante Star hotel is classified) Positive: Service very friendly and OK excellent is the location close to Vatican, castel san angelo, city centre, excellent view from roof and terrasse over the city. bus shuttle station to the airport is not far away

First we had a room at the Maison Royal B&B which we did not like as it was very noisy (both from noise in the street but even more from the next room as there was just a very thin wall between the 2 rooms and one could hear every word from next door). After 1 night we got a wonderful little appartment (601) which was situated just 2 streets away and that was heaven! We loved it!

I have asked for a nice room and they gave me the 511 which is a terrific value for the price. The breakfast "room" as a splendid view on the Vatican and the St. Peter's dome and facade. I will be back and I recommend the hotel to the readers. I wish to thank everybody at the La Maison Royale.

We came to Rome to spend a nice weekend and explore the beautiful city. We stayed in "La Maison Royale". The hotel has its unforgettable atmosphere and a nice view from the restaurant on the 6th floor. Room clean but small, fairly tidy, friendly and trouble-free service. How will I again in Rome, it would definitely be again in "La Maison Royale". I recommend, because it was a pleasure to stay at this hotel!! Jarek and Olga from Poland

There were some disappointments with our stay. First, we did not realize that the B&B was almost a block away from the main hotel. We had no hot water to bathe and there was no phone in our room to call the front desk. You had to walk the block to get any help. The outside lighting was very bad. The employees were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. The location was great to walk to the Vatican and other places. I think phones should be a must in hotel rooms. We had no clock and could not get any wake up calls if needed.

We had booked a room at the B&B but as we got to the hotel for checking in they upgraded us to stay at the actual hotel instead. I assume it was a better deal for the same money and it worked great. The location of the hotel was excellent, 5 minute walk to the Vatican and 10 minute walk to Castel Sant'Angelo! It was a bit difficult finding the hotel at first and not the best bus communications to Termini but taxi to Termini was just €14 including luggage. The room was okay, but a bit low on oxygen... we (and also the cleaning ladies) left the balcony door open during the days. The breakfast restaurant at the 6th floor has a magnificent view of the St Peter's Cathedral, just stunning, and the breakfast buffet was great (although the bread was very dry every day). Helpful staff and the great location (and the breakfast view!) makes it a place where I'd definitely stay again!

The location is fine, but since the name is different from booking (la maison royal vs atlantic star?), need taxi to find this hotel. Hotel condition ok, 3 star and have a great range of breakfast. Just never know before that should added 10% tax for initial cost, so it should be informed previously.

Little B&B with character, next door to main hotel. Location excellent for viewing main city attractions. The room was clean and comfortable and was well serviced every day. Continental breakfast in the main hotel, superb. Certain quirks were a bit adventuresome, i.e. keys that can be hard/impossible to work in old locks (my husband broke his key the first time he tried to use it) -- 2 sets on main doors plus the lock on the door to the room, an old-fashioned lift with fold-in doors, the lift in the main hotel which sometimes would not go to the top floor where breakfast is, the button on the jacuzzi sometimes only working after 5 minutes of frantic pressing. Staff at the desk in the main hotel were not 100% reliable despite their reassurances; on the morning we left they did not leave us a breakfast box as requested and so we had to buy food at the airport, and the taxi driver had been given the wrong destination airport (luckily, we asked him before he drove off). Overall, a nice place to stay but I don't think I would go back.

It is a part of Atlata Star Hotel, 4star hotel. It is in excelent location, 7 min of walking from St.Peter´s church, great breakfast with fantastic view, room service and cleaning every day, rooms clean, air condition in each room helpful staff. Rooms were on street side, so it was quite noisy and internet acces was not there, only in the hotel part. But at all it was really fantastic accommodation for the price.

Great hotel, very close to Vatican City. Reception was very helpful, jacuzzi was great and clean. We were sleep at the inside of the hotel so the road's morning noise was not a problem, everything was smooth and quiet. Breakfast was great, exept that they don't have bacon, and the view from the breakfast room was fabulus! I didn't like that there was no free internet provided, we live in 2012 internet is a MUST service. Advice: before everything you do, visit the supermarket behind the hotel, buy bottles of water and other drinking stuff, because the room's minibar is really expensive.

You get what you pay for correct? I paid a low price for being two blocks from the Vatican City. Great location. The room itself was the smallest I've ever had and not exactly upscale. I was taken aback when I asked the front desk, "Can I have an iron and ironing board"? They answered, "For the scurity of the guests, we don't offer that service". What? What security? All I want to do is iron my clothes from having been on the road for two weeks. Whatever... Marco

Stayed here for 3 nights. Although the room was on the small side, the b&b was a perfect base to explore Rome. The breakfast was great too. A minor flaw was the busy road outside, but it didn't seem to keep us awake after a long day of sight seeing!

The bathtub, referred to as Jacuzzi whirlpool bath, does not work and the air vents are rusty. There are holes on the bottom edge of the bathtub and close to the walls are full of mold. The windows do not retain the noise of the street, then from 6 am is impossible to sleep.

The Bed and Breakfast belongs to the Atlantic Star Hotel, a well-known **** Hotel in Rome. The service is good, staff speaks fluently English and understands English (is not normal in Italy), very helpful in case of need (medical emergency), they organised a doctor into the hotel within short time. Breakfast is good and view is excellent. Room was noisy in the daytime, but not at night which is most important. Excellent sleep on very good mattress, an important detail on a physically demanding sight seeing tour.

In the bathroom there is not a real shower but only a Jacuzzi bathtub that it is a little unconfortable expecially if you have hurry. We didn't see if a internet connection is available. This hotel is suggested when your visit is centered in Vatican, Castel Sant'Angelo and Vatican's Museums. However, a metropolitan line is close to the hotel and you can go quickly everywhere in the center of Rome.

It was our first visit in Rome. The reservation was at the Maison Royale but when we arrived to check in at the hotel there were no rooms available. It was no problem though since we were given rooms at their four star sister hotel Atlante Garden just one block ahead. Compared to Continental breakfast it was super whith choices of juice, coffe, tea, yoghurt, milk, cereals, eggs, cheese, ham and fresh tomatoes and fruit. I whould have liked more whole grain bread, though). The location was very nice whith quiet surrondings. We had the Vatican and St Peters Basilica just a few minutes walking from the hotel. The only disappointment was no free internet.

It was certainly a good place to stay, it is close to many interesting places, specially if you want to visit the Vatican in the very early morning, this place is within walking distance from it. The neighbourhood is also good and there is a Food Store (Spar) right around the corner. Bus stops are also nearby and the fantastic Trastevere Quarter for good dining is only a short bus ride away, and buses commute all the time. A good lamp for the BnB building entrace was missing at night. It was good trying out a BnB in Rome, but probably next time we'll go back to a hotel again, just because we like trying out new places.

The location is perfect for discovering Roma in a short period of time and next to the Vatican (5 minutes walking time !!) This was a nice B&B. It is attached to a larger hotel (Hotel Atlante Star) and that's where you check in and have breakfast (which is great). The room was spacious and the bathroom was the largest of all I had seen in Italy! This B&B is also very close to the Vatican/St Peter's Basilica and felt centralized to just about anything you wanted to see/do.

hotel room was very basic with 3 beds and a very small TV which seemed to have only infomercials available to watch. It was pretty clean, however, we didn't get enough clean towels every day. We were 3 people, but only got 1 towel the subsequent days we were there. The area around the hotel was awesome, since it was literally 5 mis from the Vatican, and very close to Ottaviano street, which is chock full of lovely fashionable stores. The area also had lots of souvenir shops and restaurants where you can dine at reasonable prices. the highlight of our stay was the breakfast. We had a lovely buffet breakfast ono the top floor of the main hotel next door, which overlooked the city. All in all, a wonderful positive experience.

The location that one hardly can beat, stylish, spacious rooms, FANTASTIC view of St.Peters and Roma panorama from the restaurant on the top floor, where the breakfast is served, complimented with the varied and quality-products breakfast buffet! I am impressed and grateful! A bit noisy from the street at night, but hey, this is Rome for you. We stayed a week in late March 2011, for vacation. Excellent location, friendly staff, good breakfast with excellent view to St.Peter's Basilica. In my view, there was only one disadvantage - problems with hot water, i.e. water was just warm, but not hot. Most probably it's not a huge problem when you stay at B&B during warm season, but it's for sure a problem during cold season. So if you plan visiting Rome during warm season, La Maison Royale is a great place to stay.

Note: Check in is in Hotel Atlante! The staff there wasn't very friendly. They have Internet access in the lobby, but charge 3 Euro for half an hour - too much!. The rooms are in a builiding next door. Great elevator (built by Ferrari!!!). Nice, spacious bathroom (with directions for use of the jacuzzi - just there was no jacuzzi), noisy aircondition (the neighbor's!). Breakfast is good; served in a hotel nearby. Easy to reach (Express bus No 40 from Termini; get off Saint Peter); lots of restaurants nearby. We stayed 3 nights in January - that was good.

This hotel would have been a better value for the money if it actually had warm water. We informed the staff of our lack of hot water and someone who didn't speak English came to "turn the hot water heater all the way up" which did nothing. They offered for us to go to the main hotel to shower but that was a block away. The "breakfast" portion is also a block away. We ended up having to take sponge baths for our entire stay. We were super excited when we got hot water at one point and jumped into the shower only to have the hot water literally last for 30 seconds. Bed was two single beds together that were uneven compared to each other. But, the double beds side by side seems to be a european thing. Would not go back. Would potentially actually stay in the Hotel Atlantic Star, but not this place again. Ironic how simply having hot water to shower could have changed this whole experience from returning to not. The hotel is very loud as well as you can hear all walking, talking, cars, etc outside the window.

Only a 5 minute walk to the Vatican and a 30 minute walk to the Colosseum. Breakfast was fantastic! Best we had from all the different places we stayed in Italy. Check-in and breakfast are at the Atlante Hotel with a wonderful and unique view of St. Peter's Basilica. Took the public bus from the Termini Train Station. Hotel was hard to find so we had to ask for help on the bus. Would only stay here again for the breakfast and proximity to The Vatican.

Location was great - five min walk to vatican / castell sant'angelo and then over the river into town. would definitely recommend it if you're looking for simple, well located accommodation at a reasonable cost. hotel facilites for guesthouse prices. downsides - our bath leaked but not a major problem as it was cleaned up well. the room overlooked the mainroad so did get a bit of traffic noise.

Alles in Allem gut.

My family stayed in 2 rooms during this Rome vacation. The breakfast was excellent, as was the proximity of the Vatican. We had some trouble finding the hotel at first, and street noise in the room was really load. Other than that, excellent stay for the price.

Siccome c'era un problema al B&B siamo stati messi nel limitrofo albergo. Il giudizio per l'albergo è decisamente ottimo, ma i voti sopra sli ho dati in base a quel che ho potutto vedere del B&B. Consigliato

Although we had a very large room with 4 beds, the use of the Jacuzzi resulted in a room flooding. Do not expect much from the view, we had a room with view but it just gives you a straight look on the road below, which can be very noisy at time. The breakfast buffet was good, however Italians have no notion of what fruit juice is. The good point is the magnificent view on the Vatican during your breakfast.

We stayed three nights in La Maison Royale in early September 2007, and had booked online through Venere.com. The rooms matched the descriptions that were given on the web. We were 5 people (adults and children) and had booked a triple and a double room. We were given two rooms with 4 beds each (each time 1 double and 2 single), and the rooms interconnected. So, it was perfect space-wise. The reception at the Atlante hotel (****) next-door provided all the advice and info needed for the stay and for a Rome visit. Breakfast in the Atlante Hotel next door was good. Some reviews mentioned a lot of street noice, but we found it was pretty much OK. Rooms had AC, TV (some 20+ Italian channels), bath tub with Jacuzzi (in one of the two rooms ("F1") the jacuzzi did not work), and fridge. The building has a lovely old, wooden elevator. The Maison Royale is at 5 minutes (or less) from the Vatican, and about same from nearest bus stop. Enough restaurants in neighbourhood to eat and/or get take-out pizza. Shopping street at 2-3 minutes walking distance. Old Rome is further and you best take public transport to get there. Note that by calling the hotel in advance, you can request them for airport pick-up. In short: perfect if you are several people (incl with kids), want to stay in Rome in comfort, but don^t want to spend a fortune. A few other tips in Rome: we avoided the queues in the Colosseum by taking a guide (at the entrance you have people offering guide-services). We did not realize that the same ticket also gave access to the Palatine Hill if you went teh same day. Also, children with a EU passport don't have to pay in Colsseum if they show their passport.

The room was good and big, but the Maison is in a busy avenue, so there is a lot of noise, and down stairs there is a sex shop, I think we were lucky we were on holidays and that shop was closed the whole time, however it is very close to the vatican and Saint Peter square. The check in is in the hotel next on the corner. The breakfast was very good.
