This Bed & Breakfast is located in the first floor of a separate building from the Atlante Stars hotel (4*)where are the public areas (check in/out desk, wifi in the lobby bar, breakfast in the 6th floor). Quiet and clean bedroom with bathroom inside but without wifi. The staff was friendly. You must pay by cash. The breakfast was ok. Very good location.

We enjoyed our stay in La Maison Royale. The room was fine and the breakfast abundant and good (although 6 consecutive, nearly identical, breakfasts can become a bit boring if not for the fantastic view of the roof terrasse).

Lovely hotel. Thank you very much for your hospitality. We liked everything. Very convenient location, near metro and bus stop. And one more positive moment - from the airport can be reached by bus from Vatican city and do not need the Leonardo Express. The rooms were clean and quiet. Close to many shops and restaurants. Excellent Breakfast with views of the Vatican. All fresh and delicious. On the beautiful roof terrace with flowers and a restaurant with views of the Vatican and of the entire city. Very nicely. The room is not very big, but enough. Room was clean and bed linen and towels and the toilet and the bathroom were excellent. All is fine. The staff is very friendly. In the lobby there is free wi-fi. We lived on the second floor and the free wi-fi worked in the room. Wi-fi in the room is paid. The hotel has a Russian-speaking guys. In choosing a hotel will not go wrong. In this hotel and with small children, too, will be very comfortable. We would return to this hotel again. All recommended. A pleasant holiday.

Great place to stay in Rome, excellent location nearby the Vatican, busses, metro and a great shopping street Via Cola di Rienzo. The staff of the hotel Atlante Star is really nice and helpfull and the breakfast is great, with an astonishing view over S.t Peters Basilica. I hope the place is still there next time I will go to Rome.

The hotel is in a FANTASTIC location! Just a few minute walk and you will be at St. Peter's Square. We had booked a room for 4 people, but were upgraded to a suite due to overbooking. A cab from our hotel to Ciampiano airport was only €35,00. The only negative thing was the restaurant, we ordered two meals and two desserts and were there for almost 2 hours; the prices were also high compared to what you could get at restaurants around the hotel. Also the name on the sign at the hotel was the Atlante Star. If we ever go back to Rome I would absolutely stay at this hotel again!

Good Relation Value/Price. Best of the B&B is the second 'B', because the breakfast ist in the rest. 'La Etoile' in the 6th floor of the hotel Atlante - with panorama view over to the Vatikan a.o. It should be displayed anywhere, that the 'Maison Royale' is not a house on its own. It is the B&B 'branch' of the hotel Atlante Star. This is also the address (no 34) of the property (for airport shuttle etc.). The name 'Maison Royale' is nowhere shown. But again: We can recommend this accomodation. Short way to Vatican, St.Angelo, TiberBridges, Piazza Navona etc. In the surrounding some cafes and restaurants with reasonable price level

The guest of the hotel ranged from young American Military to Europeans and Italians. I'm sure the hotel staff could communicate with all. The breakfast room overlooks the Vatican & Saint Peters. The location is a 10 minute walk to Saint Peters or Castle Saint Angelo and 15 minutes to Piazza Navona. From there it is 5 to 10 minutes to almost all the sights. I have stayed in several hotels and the B&B La Maison Royale is the best.

We had room F3. The room was okay, with 4 (!) beds. So enough space for two people. The hook for the shower was broken, so it was not easy to take a shower with one hand! The Jakuzzi didn´t work. But the breakfast room had an excellent view of the St. Peter´s dome.

I would like to say how disappointed i was. One of the reasons we chose this BB was because we needed wi-fi. There was no wi-fi at all in the room we were given. We had to walk a block away to the hotel to get reception. We had a door that would jam and was difficult to open, our bathroom window cover did not cover the entire window and people could see us from the outside. We used the bathroom in the dark. There was no TV reception, there was no phone so we could not get in touch to the hotel if we required anything. The only positive noted its the close proximity to the vatican. I would never stay here again.

I was really just looking for a decent place to sleep, there was no intention of us hanging around all day as of course we wanted to see the City, so it served the purpose. We slept well as we were so tired but the beds were definitely not the most comfortable I have ever slept in! The actual 'apartment' was a little dark, gloomy and shabby but clean with fresh sheets and towels. As I had read the view at breakfast from the hotel was the highlight. Staff at the hotel were very polite and helpful and quickly came over when we found we had no hot water (apparently there is a switch in the kitchen if this happens to you!) As someone else had mentioned in a review I had read do make sure you know the name of the hotel Atlante Star because without this information I don't think we ever would have found the place. So overall fantastic location for the Vatican, wonderful views at breakfast (food ok but plentiful)hard small beds, a little claustrophobic but for the money not bad. I personally would not go back as I think there are better deals but for us on this visit it was just fine.

Maison royale does not exist. It is a dependence of the hotel Atlante. Resgistering and the keys are to be fetched there. Thanks to a former review I knew that. It should be mentioned in the ad. If you expect a full hotel service, do not go there. However, if you love a mix of antique, very spacious and fully equipped quarters, one block away from where you have a gorgeous breakfast and do not want to pay a fortune, then maison royale is the best. Steps from the City Tour Bus 110 and bus 40 from and to Roma Termini. Plenty of lovely local restaurants around, check their prices, they vary highly from place to place. And you are next to the Vatican :-)

First we had a room at the Maison Royal B&B which we did not like as it was very noisy (both from noise in the street but even more from the next room as there was just a very thin wall between the 2 rooms and one could hear every word from next door). After 1 night we got a wonderful little appartment (601) which was situated just 2 streets away and that was heaven! We loved it!

There were some disappointments with our stay. First, we did not realize that the B&B was almost a block away from the main hotel. We had no hot water to bathe and there was no phone in our room to call the front desk. You had to walk the block to get any help. The outside lighting was very bad. The employees were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. The location was great to walk to the Vatican and other places. I think phones should be a must in hotel rooms. We had no clock and could not get any wake up calls if needed.

We had booked a room at the B&B but as we got to the hotel for checking in they upgraded us to stay at the actual hotel instead. I assume it was a better deal for the same money and it worked great. The location of the hotel was excellent, 5 minute walk to the Vatican and 10 minute walk to Castel Sant'Angelo! It was a bit difficult finding the hotel at first and not the best bus communications to Termini but taxi to Termini was just €14 including luggage. The room was okay, but a bit low on oxygen... we (and also the cleaning ladies) left the balcony door open during the days. The breakfast restaurant at the 6th floor has a magnificent view of the St Peter's Cathedral, just stunning, and the breakfast buffet was great (although the bread was very dry every day). Helpful staff and the great location (and the breakfast view!) makes it a place where I'd definitely stay again!

Little B&B with character, next door to main hotel. Location excellent for viewing main city attractions. The room was clean and comfortable and was well serviced every day. Continental breakfast in the main hotel, superb. Certain quirks were a bit adventuresome, i.e. keys that can be hard/impossible to work in old locks (my husband broke his key the first time he tried to use it) -- 2 sets on main doors plus the lock on the door to the room, an old-fashioned lift with fold-in doors, the lift in the main hotel which sometimes would not go to the top floor where breakfast is, the button on the jacuzzi sometimes only working after 5 minutes of frantic pressing. Staff at the desk in the main hotel were not 100% reliable despite their reassurances; on the morning we left they did not leave us a breakfast box as requested and so we had to buy food at the airport, and the taxi driver had been given the wrong destination airport (luckily, we asked him before he drove off). Overall, a nice place to stay but I don't think I would go back.

Breakfast was great, exept that they don't have bacon, and the view from the breakfast room was fabulus! I didn't like that there was no free internet provided, we live in 2012 internet is a MUST service. You get what you pay for correct? I paid a low price for being two blocks from the Vatican City. Great location. The room itself was the smallest I've ever had and not exactly upscale. I was taken aback when I asked the front desk, "Can I have an iron and ironing board"? They answered, "For the scurity of the guests, we don't offer that service". What? What security? All I want to do is iron my clothes from having been on the road for two weeks. Whatever... Marco

In the bathroom there is not a real shower but only a Jacuzzi bathtub that it is a little unconfortable expecially if you have hurry. We didn't see if a internet connection is available. This hotel is suggested when your visit is centered in Vatican, Castel Sant'Angelo and Vatican's Museums. However, a metropolitan line is close to the hotel and you can go quickly everywhere in the center of Rome.

It was our first visit in Rome. The reservation was at the Maison Royale but when we arrived to check in at the hotel there were no rooms available. It was no problem though since we were given rooms at their four star sister hotel Atlante Garden just one block ahead. Compared to Continental breakfast it was super whith choices of juice, coffe, tea, yoghurt, milk, cereals, eggs, cheese, ham and fresh tomatoes and fruit. I whould have liked more whole grain bread, though). The location was very nice whith quiet surrondings. We had the Vatican and St Peters Basilica just a few minutes walking from the hotel. Though the location was a little outside the city walls, it was still quite close to all major sights. The hotel was everything we expected and more. It would have been nice to have a free WIFI for the guests. Hotel provided a computer to get online for a moderate price.

It was certainly a good place to stay, it is close to many interesting places, specially if you want to visit the Vatican in the very early morning, this place is within walking distance from it. The neighbourhood is also good and there is a Food Store (Spar) right around the corner. Bus stops are also nearby and the fantastic Trastevere Quarter for good dining is only a short bus ride away, and buses commute all the time. A good lamp for the BnB building entrace was missing at night. It was good trying out a BnB in Rome, but probably next time we'll go back to a hotel again, just because we like trying out new places.

The location is perfect for discovering Roma in a short period of time and next to the Vatican (5 minutes walking time !!) The quality of the location and the skill of the hotel crew make you not care that much about some details regarding appartment F2. The hotel should nevertheless do something with the window which need some repair.

The pictures on this site do not represent the room or even the hotel advertized! bathroom was filthy and most appliances did not work; the 4star breakfast was pitiful, coffee undrinkable, pastries/ bread not fresh. Personnel was rather incompetent and careless.

This was a nice B&B. It is attached to a larger hotel (Hotel Atlante Star) and that's where you check in and have breakfast (which is great). The room was spacious and the bathroom was the largest of all I had seen in Italy! This B&B is also very close to the Vatican/St Peter's Basilica and felt centralized to just about anything you wanted to see/do.

hotel room was very basic with 3 beds and a very small TV which seemed to have only infomercials available to watch. It was pretty clean, however, we didn't get enough clean towels every day. We were 3 people, but only got 1 towel the subsequent days we were there. The area around the hotel was awesome, since it was literally 5 mis from the Vatican, and very close to Ottaviano street, which is chock full of lovely fashionable stores. The area also had lots of souvenir shops and restaurants where you can dine at reasonable prices. the highlight of our stay was the breakfast. We had a lovely buffet breakfast ono the top floor of the main hotel next door, which overlooked the city. All in all, a wonderful positive experience.

We have been check in at the Hotel instead of the bed and breackfast so the quality was of course much higher. In any case the breackfast is served at the veranda at the last floor of the hotel with a great view over San Pietro even if you stay at the bed&breackfast

we stayed in b&b the breakfast in the hotel was first class.the air con did not work but our short stay was no problem and is was not too warm.the plugs in the sink allowed the water to drain away before we got washed so this was a waste of water as well as a nuisenece. but our stay was not spoiled at all.

This is the first time I have stayed in the place that has met all my expectations and excelled them! The location that one hardly can beat, stylish, spacious rooms, FANTASTIC view of St.Peters and Roma panorama from the restaurant on the top floor, where the breakfast is served, complimented with the varied and quality-products breakfast buffet! I am impressed and grateful! A bit noisy from the street at night, but hey, this is Rome for you. We stayed a week in late March 2011, for vacation. Would absolutely come and stay again in the Maison Royale, next time we are in Rome!

Excellent location, friendly staff, good breakfast with excellent view to St.Peter's Basilica. In my view, there was only one disadvantage - problems with hot water, i.e. water was just warm, but not hot. Most probably it's not a huge problem when you stay at B&B during warm season, but it's for sure a problem during cold season. So if you plan visiting Rome during warm season, La Maison Royale is a great place to stay.

For work in the BB, we got a hotel room in Atlante star. This was in the center and the Vatican was around the corner. All sights were within walking distance. The metro was 5 min walk (Ottaviano). I think this is one of the best hotels in Rome. The facilities at the hotel were good. The breakfast was perfect. JG & CS

Note: Check in is in Hotel Atlante! The staff there wasn't very friendly. They have Internet access in the lobby, but charge 3 Euro for half an hour - too much!. The rooms are in a builiding next door. Great elevator (built by Ferrari!!!). Nice, spacious bathroom (with directions for use of the jacuzzi - just there was no jacuzzi), noisy aircondition (the neighbor's!). Breakfast is good; served in a hotel nearby. Easy to reach (Express bus No 40 from Termini; get off Saint Peter); lots of restaurants nearby. We stayed 3 nights in January - that was good.

This hotel would have been a better value for the money if it actually had warm water. We informed the staff of our lack of hot water and someone who didn't speak English came to "turn the hot water heater all the way up" which did nothing. They offered for us to go to the main hotel to shower but that was a block away. The "breakfast" portion is also a block away. We ended up having to take sponge baths for our entire stay. We were super excited when we got hot water at one point and jumped into the shower only to have the hot water literally last for 30 seconds. Bed was two single beds together that were uneven compared to each other. But, the double beds side by side seems to be a european thing. Would not go back. Would potentially actually stay in the Hotel Atlantic Star, but not this place again. Ironic how simply having hot water to shower could have changed this whole experience from returning to not. The hotel is very loud as well as you can hear all walking, talking, cars, etc outside the window.

We stayed in a different part of the bed and breakfast that looked nothing like the pictures on the internet. Room was clean but very small. Bed was horribly uncomfortable. Location is great! Only a 5 minute walk to the Vatican and a 30 minute walk to the Colosseum. Breakfast was fantastic! Best we had from all the different places we stayed in Italy. Check-in and breakfast are at the Atlante Hotel with a wonderful and unique view of St. Peter's Basilica. Took the public bus from the Termini Train Station. Hotel was hard to find so we had to ask for help on the bus. Would only stay here again for the breakfast and proximity to The Vatican.

We stayed three nights in La Maison Royale in mid september. A little diffucult to find because the name on the street is Atlante Hotel. We were very satisfied with the Hotel. An excellent service all over from the staff. Very (excellent)good breakfast with an uniq look to the Vatican. Location was great. Least but not last, I had forgotten my purse with some money in the room, but before we reached the airport we got a telephon call from the Hotel that they have have found the money. Afterwards it was send to our home adress.Excellent service.

Excellent value for money. Perfect location. We got a spacious room with even a view of St. Peter's - downside is noise from the street. Great breakfast in the penthouse hotel restaurant nearby (roof terrace closed for restoration). Small TV which didn'work anyhow, but that's a minor complaint.

Excellent value - huge clean simple room, well looked after, breakfast at the hotel was good and varied compared to other hotels i've been to in italy including rome. Location was great - five min walk to vatican / castell sant'angelo and then over the river into town. would definitely recommend it if you're looking for simple, well located accommodation at a reasonable cost. hotel facilites for guesthouse prices. downsides - our bath leaked but not a major problem as it was cleaned up well. the room overlooked the mainroad so did get a bit of traffic noise.

Although we had a very large room with 4 beds, the use of the Jacuzzi resulted in a room flooding. Do not expect much from the view, we had a room with view but it just gives you a straight look on the road below, which can be very noisy at time. The breakfast buffet was good, however Italians have no notion of what fruit juice is. The good point is the magnificent view on the Vatican during your breakfast.

We stayed three nights in La Maison Royale in early September 2007, and had booked online through Venere.com. The rooms matched the descriptions that were given on the web. We were 5 people (adults and children) and had booked a triple and a double room. We were given two rooms with 4 beds each (each time 1 double and 2 single), and the rooms interconnected. So, it was perfect space-wise. The reception at the Atlante hotel (****) next-door provided all the advice and info needed for the stay and for a Rome visit. Breakfast in the Atlante Hotel next door was good. Some reviews mentioned a lot of street noice, but we found it was pretty much OK. Rooms had AC, TV (some 20+ Italian channels), bath tub with Jacuzzi (in one of the two rooms ("F1") the jacuzzi did not work), and fridge. The building has a lovely old, wooden elevator. The Maison Royale is at 5 minutes (or less) from the Vatican, and about same from nearest bus stop. Enough restaurants in neighbourhood to eat and/or get take-out pizza. Shopping street at 2-3 minutes walking distance. Old Rome is further and you best take public transport to get there. Note that by calling the hotel in advance, you can request them for airport pick-up. In short: perfect if you are several people (incl with kids), want to stay in Rome in comfort, but don^t want to spend a fortune. A few other tips in Rome: we avoided the queues in the Colosseum by taking a guide (at the entrance you have people offering guide-services). We did not realize that the same ticket also gave access to the Palatine Hill if you went teh same day. Also, children with a EU passport don't have to pay in Colsseum if they show their passport.
