I stayed there 2 nights for leisure. As same as the other comments, the owner's hospitality and the breakfast was really fantastic!! The location is great to visit to Vatican and very safe even late at night. Although a bit far from city center, it was no problem as the transportation network is good to go to Termini & Trastevele. I definetly choose to stay at Katja's next time.

Gianluca was a gracious and accommodating host. My son and I stayed in the bunk bed room - very comfortable. The neighborhood is great with the Vatican a short walk away. Katja's is also near the train station so very convenient. I would recommend this B&B highly. Food was wonderful. Bravo!!

I stayed in the single bedroom at Katja's for one night after my escorted tour in Italy.Although the room was a bit small, the helpful friendly treatment by the owners and the close proximity to the Vatican more then made up for this.I certainly can recommend this Bed and Breakfast especially for a single person.

For most of the comments I would like to rate more than 10! Gianluca's welcome, hospitality, and especially the breakfasts were superb. The appartment was delightful and full of character, and he was always ready to provide information and suggestions about where to visit in Rome. Highly recommended especially for the independent traveller.

The room was small, however charming. The room we stayed in had bunk beds which was fine for us, however could be difficult for those who have physical challenges. We were invited to use the kitchen if needed and also the living area. Giovanni was a very charming and gracious host and made our stay memorable. We would definitely go back.

My stay in Rome was 5 full days. The second part of a 3-week vacation. Vatican City is a 5-minute walk. From my street, I can see St. Peter's dome. A nice market and other stores very close by to pick up essentials. Very good restaurants close by as well - Gianluca and Katja are happy to recommend and point out where the local spots are - I enjoyed Vittorio's, a family-run restaurant. Also, they are very open to recommending other sites "off the beaten track". Most importantly for me, was the wonderful welcome and kindness of the hosts. The breakfasts are amazing - Gianluca is a wonderful cook. Cereal, breads, sweets, juice, coffee, tea, eggs, vegetables and cheese. Scrumptious. B&B is close to the street, but, this is not uncommon. When the window is shut tight, you can barely hear any noise. This young couple make you feel at home. I highly recommend - especially if you don't mind being close to the Vatican, but away from the other hot spots. Well done Lucca and Katja. Cheers from Canada.

Katja's is well located for the Vatican and in close proximity to many of the sights of Rome. The rooms are small but it is very quiet. My husband and I didn't mind sleeping in separate bunk beds. We had a wonderful welcome from the host. I would recommend this hotel.

Although this B & B has no air conditioning (most don't in Rome), you are allowed to open the window and there is a fan in the room making the stay quite pleasant. I was very impressed with co-owner, Gianluca who was very kind and welcomed me with juice and cookies as soon as I got there. He even carried my luggage after a long train ride. The room was very clean as well as the shared bathroom down the hall. I stayed one night and had to leave at 5 AM the next day to make my flight to Houston from Rome. Gianluca made me a great breakfast at 4:30 AM so that I would not go without breakfast and packed me a lunch for later. I felt very cared for and it was thoughful of him to get up so early. This B & B is very accomodating and I would stay there again if I return to Rome. Giianluuca also gave me a great recipe for Pasta Carbonara! Thanks, Katja and Gianluca for the comfortable accomodations. Great location-right across from St. Peter's Basilica and Sqaure.

What a delightful stay I had with Luca and Katja!I arrived early in Rome after an overnight flight. I had let Luca know that I was arriving early, and he stated this would not be a problem and that I could drop my luggage to be stored until the room was ready. When my taxi arrived, Luca greeted me at the door, helped me take the luggage up the small flight of stairs into the bed and breakfast, and offered me something to eat and drink. We sat and chatted for a few minutes in the colorful and warm reception area and Luca oriented me to the neighborhood and gave me keys to the apartment and the guestroom. Since the previous night's guests had not yet departed, my luggage was stored while I ventured out to explore the area. The bed and breakfast was a block from the Vatican, which made my sightseeing easy and close. Luca recommended several restaurants nearby to dine, so I had lunch at a restaurant nearby and a late dinner at a pizza place closeby, too. During the late afternoon, I returned to the bed and breakfast to take a nap before venturing out for the evening, found my room ready, and was warmly greeted by Katja. While small, my single room was quaint, charming, and filled with light from the large window. There were two other guests staying in the other guest room, but I never heard or saw them the entire time I was there. The bathroom was adequate for my needs and while the shower was small, it had great water pressure! When I awoke in the morning, Luca had prepared a wonderful spread for breakfast... scrambled eggs, juice, coffee, fresh breads, veggies, and fruits, toast, jam, and butter! I will definately plan on visiting Katja and Luca the next time that I visit Rome, and I highly recommend Katja's B and B to travelers desiring a friendly, quiet, welcoming, place to stay that is close to the Vatican! Thank you for a delightfully warm and welcoming stay!

Gianluca & Katja are the perfect hosts. This is an extremely good B&B. Superb breakfast and facilities. Location is perfect for the Vatican & local bus/train will get you to anywhere in Rome that you can't walk to. I stayed for eight very happy days. Room may be a little on the small side, but most of the time you will be out in Rome. There is also a sitting room, if you need more space to relax. Extremely pleased with the B&B and especially the kindness & help from Gianluca & Katya. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

I had a very pleasant 2-night stay in Katja's single room in April. This is basically a homestay--two rooms in the apartment of owners Gianlucca and Katja--so the bathroom is shared between the two rooms, and you might hear folks in the other room or the owners moving around the apartment. Given all that, I think it's a fantastic place to stay, particularly for single travellers. (The double room has bunk beds, and both rooms are relatively small, so I wouldn't plan on spending tons of time in the room, though there's a nice common area.) Gianlucca and Katja are both welcoming and helpful, the location is great (2 minutes' walk to St. Peter's, 10 minute bus ride into the city center), and the price is very reasonable. I'd happily return.

I spent three nights at Katja's, and the experience couldn't have been better. Luca is a very welcoming and helpful host who provided me with a great breakfast every morning, and even made a few sandwiches on the last day for me to take on my journey home. The rooms are small but very comfortable and clean, and the location is fantastic - just a short walk from the Vatican, and with great transport links into the centre of Rome. This B&B is a real find and comes highly recommended. To begin with, yes as other reviewers mention, the room is quite small and the bathroom is shared with 1 other. But to me these are not issues at all for the following reasons. Katja and Luca are the best hosts, extremely welcoming and hospitable. The rooms are extremely clean and it is a very safe area, very close to the Vatican. The sitting area is comfortable and well decorated and there are many books and guides available for guests to read. The breakfast is fantastic and Luca ably assists with any travel plans or ideas. All in all it's like staying with friends in Rome, a very pleasurable experience. Thank's Katja and Luca

I spent three nights in Rome after completing a cycling tour from Fano to Porto Ecole. Katja's B&B was perfect. Katja and Luco were wonderful hosts. The B&B is two bocks from St Peters and two blocks from the train station and Bus 64. I recommend their place to anyone. The price of 50 euros per night was very fair.

At Katja's we enjoyed our 3 night stay. It was our first stop in Italy for a 2 week stay and it was a great start. The location was close, about 2 blocks, to the San Pietro Metro Train stop. Venere maps give a good idea of the B&B's location, but Google is the best. We took the train from Fiumicino and then transfered at Trastevere. Easy enough if you can make sure you are on the correct train. Gianluca welcomed us and gave the keys needed to get in and out of the building. He and Katja's place is cosy, but seemingly big by Rome standards. We had the double room which had a bunk bed, but it was big enough for both of us to fit on one, being that we are skinny. The room was a little tight, but big enough for us and luggage, most of our time was spent sight seeing. The Breakfast area is open and can be used for reading and they made the kitchen open to our use any time. Gianluca prepared the standard Roman breakfast for us every morning with coffee, cereal, juice, select fruit and cold cuts. The shared bathroom was tight, but usable and kept clean. Its a little far from the underground Metro that is past Piazza San Pietro, but in Rome walking is the standard and walking past the Vatican on our way back to the B&B was always a thrill. Overall a great authentic stay in Rome with Romans for a great value price.

Great place to stay when visiting the Vatican. Trastevere is a bit of a walk. Internet access involves sharing an Ethernet cable with the owners -- somewhat inconvenient to all. Gianluca was very welcoming and gave us useful advice for our very short stay, including information about how to get to Civitavecchia for our cruise. The email communication before we arrived was efficient and friendly and our breakfast was substantial, fresh and beautifully presented. The only problem we had was that we had forgotten to write down the street number and we wandered up and down the street trying to recognise the building from a dimmly remembered photograph! However, when we phoned, Gianluca quickly told us where to go and was waiting for us on our arrival. The cup of tea and snack when we arrived was very welcome. The accommodation, in our opinion, certainly lived up to the reviews we had read. Being so close to St Peter's made it easy to make an early start and it was great to beat the crowds. On the evening beforehand we went to Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain etc - a very easy bus trip there and back.

Each morning, we had a beautiful breakfast waiting for us. The morning we had to catch a very early train to the airport, Gianluca got up at 5:00 a.m. to make us box lunches! The area was safe and we felt comfortable returning on foot any hour of the day or night. The house is really cute and clean, the owner gave us excellent references on how to move around the city and great recommendations on where to eat. The property is really close to the Vatican, and the center of Rome is easily reachable through bus or subway. The only disadvantage is that the sorroundings are noisy, but I think that you can't avoid noise in Rome, even in the most expensive hotel. The breakfast served was excellent! Gianluca was the perfect host, offering up recommendations and directions in a very friendly manner. It's like you are staying in someone's home (because you are). The breakfast is great, and the place very clean. The 2 person room was large enough considering that it has bunk beds. There are actually only 2 guest rooms, but I didn't see the 1 person room. The beds were actually softer than what I had gotten used to in other EU accommodations. I did not have any problem with availability of the shared bathroom. The location is very near the Vatican (you can see the dome from the front door). The 64 bus is very close as well (tip: get off at the stop immediately after the tunnel you enter after crossing the Tiber). We walked everywhere except to take the bus to and from the train station (though buses and taxis are available). We walked 15-20 minutes into Travestere for excellent dinners at recommended places every night. I highly recommend this place as an alternative to a hotel.

Katja’s Bed & Breakfast is a place I can’t recommend enough. Clean, comfortable and well-located. Gianluca, the owner, is more than helpful and makes his guests feel at home at all times. I found this place just perfect to get closer to the feel of genuine roman life, as it is in fact an apartment (beatifully decorated, I must add) in a quite calm area of the city, though the Vatican is just up the street. Room is small, but very comfortable. Bathroom is shared by the two only rooms and is always kept very clean, with shampoo, soap, hair dryer and towels available. Breakfast is copious! Tea, coffee, juice, bread, jam, butter, nutella, fruit and some fresh cold dishes of cheese, salami and vegetables. You can even skip lunch! It is located right by the Vatican, reachable by several bus lines. It is a walkable distance from the tourist hot spots across the Tiber, and it feels great to start the day walking right through Saint Peter’s Square! There are some fine restaurants just around the corner. Trastevere, packed with bars and more restaurants, is just a few minutes by bus. In short, a highly recommend place to stay!

Katja and Gianluca are two of the nicest and accomodating people we have met. Their place is small but clean, quiet and safe. We will definitely stay there again.

Close to the Vatican. A true Roman Holiday experience. Very comfortable. Helpful and super nice people! I felt like I was visiting long lost Italian cousins. I highly recommend staying here.

Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Vermieter, super Lage, in einem wunderschönem alten Haus. Einzig negative: wir wussten nicht dass wir das Bad mit einem anderen teilen müssen. Trotzdem sehr empfehlenswert!

As I was travelling solo I really appreciated finding an affordable place to stay. If you are looking for a welcome reception, assistance with information regarding Rome, getting a taxi (ie to the airport), a good breakfast, and close proximity to Vatican City this is a great B&B. The walk from this location to St. Peter's Basilica couldn't be considered exercise. The only problem I felt with "quietness of rooms" is that the late arrival of the quests next door did awaken me and I could hear them talking for quite a while. However, if I ever return to Rome on my own I would definitely try to book into Katja's.

I researched accomodations endlessly for my visit to Rome and after all my information gathering I decided to book at Katja's B&B. Although I saw katja for about 30 seconds, Gianluca was a perfect and very attentive host. Breakfast was definitely not a standard North American style, which I was glad for. It was standard Italian fare, juices, cakes, yogurts, fruit, breads.....fantastic. Location couldn't have been better, very close to the vatican and easily accessible to the rest of the sights by bus. Good trattorias nearby for dinner and I felt safe walking at night. The next time I'm in Rome, I'll be staying here!!! The single room was small, but it was all I needed since I was there to see Rome, not spend time in the room. You could come and go as you pleased and Gianluca even prepared me a bagged lunch on my departure date for my flight....AWESOME!!!!!

Katja's was incredible! I lived in Rome for a year, and always go back each year to revisit. I will always stay at Katja's. The place was clean and quiet, and the location was perfect for me. The hosts are also incredible, and took care of us like family.

It was grate to stay at this B&B. I stayed in the single room, which is clean and cosy. The B&B is located in a quiet area, near to the piazza of St. Peter's. If you would like to visit Vatican, I think it is one of the best places to stay. I would really like to come again.

This is a delightful b&b with a lovely couple who made our two night stay really special, offering extra touches that really made it a great stay. It is a small place, but for what we needed - a base for sightseeing - it was perfect. It is literally next door to St Peters and the Vatican! A wonderful place to stay, I totally recommend it.

Katja's B&B is a very lovely homestay in Rome. Althought we didn't expect staying in a home, this one was relatively good. The host was very friendly. The advice given was very useful. The only disadvantage comparing to other home-stay in our trip was that they did not have an ensuite bathroom. The size of the room is small, but quite comfortable to stay. The location is closed to a bus station and can be reached quite easily by bus number 64 (to the second to last bus stop). The map of the location and information of how to reach this B&B could have been better provided.

First of all a big "thank you" to Gianluca and Katja for the hospitality ! It was a very convenient stay (good bed/matress in a normal room), very well located (easy to walk and if not : bus 64 helps out !), easy to get to (by train from the airport - one stopover), no street noise (thus good night rest/sleep)... Also : Gianluca is very helpful with wathever question you might have about Rome ! Recommended !

Katja's was wonderful place to stay. Every positive review I read here was true and actually even better!! The host was super nice and very welcoming. He kindly answer all our questions and helped us with how to get around the city. Restraunts and shops he recommended were abusolutely great, and we were very happy to experience non-touristy places. The size of the room might be an issue if you are looking for a big place, but we thought the space was planty for getting quiet good night sleep. The breakfasts the host prepared for us were beautiful. He even packed us breakfast for the last morning since we had to catch early train. How wonderful is that! Definately recommend.

I would rate the location as "very good" in relation to the historic sections of Rome generally, and "excellent" in relation to Vatican City specifically (a 5-minute walk to the Vatican). The hosts (a young couple) were EXTREMELY gracious, thoughtful, and helpful, and both speak English very well (in addition to Italian and Finnish). The breakfasts were among the very best that I had during my three weeks in Italy. I highly recommend Katja's.

To anyone looking for accommodation in Rome, I would recommend Katja's wholeheartedly. Location - just up the road from St Peter's Square (looks great at night) and with many facilities nearby. Links to centre are great with both regional trains (to access Fiumicino airport) and a bus that cuts right through the old town to get to the central Termini station. Metro is also nearby, a short walk across St Peter's Square. I know Rome pretty well and I couldn't put a price on the benefit of being away from the noisy centre, especially as we were running the marathon and needed to sleep soundly. My friend is a very light sleeper and yet there were no noises to disturb him. And yet just a short walk away there are pubs, restaurants (one of which is a great pizzeria at a fraction of the what it would cost in the centre), café bars, etc. For those who don't mind walking, Piazza Navona is just across the river and the nightlife there is lively, with many roadside restaurants and trattorie. On balance the cost (lower than those in centre), cleanliness, friendliness and flexibility of Gianluca and Katja, the breakfasts I couldn't finish as I was so full, the ability to get a decent night's sleep, etc. all made up for needing to catch a bus to the centre (which are very frequent and cheap). For thos coming from Fiumicino, don't bother paying extra for the express train. Catch the local train to Trastevere and change for San Pietro. Half the price and no need for bus/taxi to take you to Katja's.

1. That was the first time I visited Rome while I was there only for the Vatican City. The location of Katja's just fitted my itinerary. It took me only 5 mins from the B&B to San Pietro. 2. The couple of staff were super super nice! They got everything prepared before my arrival and the briefing to new comers was in details. They even prepared me an umbrella for sight-seeing outside on the rainny day! 3. The welcome tea set was fabulous and the breakfast wonderful! Breakfast time was flexible that residents could choose any timeslot. 4. I could use the kitchen and take the drinks in the fridge anytime! There was also no time restriction of going out and coming back as the staff gave me the entrance key of the building. 5. There was a mini library in the dining room. Resisdents could find much useful information about Italy, which was convenient to travellers from other countries. 6. Owing to the unavailability of my train on 1 Nov (the original check-out day), I called the staff at the train station for 1 more night of accomodation. They were so nice that they went back home and tidied up the room at once despite their holiday and outing (1 Nov was Italian public holiday)!

I would strongly recommend Katja's to anyone who is looking for a comfortable, convenient, and clean bed and breakfast. Lucas and Katja treated us like old friends and we felt at home right away. We stayed in the double room and it is the perfect size for travelers. Katja's located seconds away from St. Peter's and some beautiful little shops. We only wish we could have stayed longer - so make your reservation early they get booked up quickly! Oh. Make sure to ask Lucas directions to O’Linda’s – she serves the best veal in Rome!

Katja's is a very sweet little bed and breakfast with very warm, hospitable and helpful owners: Katja and Gianluca, a young couple. The rooms are very clean and tastefule furnished and decorated. They have just the right size for a Rome traveller, being most of the time outside. There is also a very nice common room with a shelve of special literature of Rome, Roman architecture, life... in several languages. Also the kitchen could be used. The breakfast is very lovely prepared by Gianluca. Not to forget the location in Rome next to Saint Peter's Cathedral. Katja's is very easily reached by train and bus (64 from Statione Termini) to Stazione di S. Pietro. Thank you a lot again Katja and Gianluca it was a wunderful stay.

Katja and Gianluca were really friendly and helpful. Katja´s is definitely the cutest, friendliest and greatest B&B I ever stayed at. They make you feel right at home, the interior decoration is wonderful with so much attention to detail. Especially for the single traveller it is perfect since it is located in a safe area, within walking distance to St. Peter´s Cathedral. I would always go back to Rome and stay at Katja´s!!

My husband and I stayed 4 hot days in Rome. Over 100° every day. There are not enough wonderful words to describe the hosts. After 72 nights on the road, this was without a doubt, the highlight of all the places we stayed. The attention to details made the lack of air conditioning not a problem. And breakfasts were the best on our entire trip.

I am happy that I found great place for my weekend stay in Roma. This place is just different in best sense - you can feel like at home.Katja and Gianluca are very frendly (you can always get good advice about not 100% tourist places to see), breakfast is very good and individualy served, rooms in reality look much nicer then on enternet pictures and are very stylish.I highly reccomend this place.

I am a woman and was traveling with my 17-year-old daughter. We both really like Katja's, and will go back again and recommend it to our friends. We stayed four nights. Gianluca, the owner, was exceptionally kind and helpful, made wonderful breakfasts and was available to answer our questions about transportation, directions, things to do, recommend restaurants, etc. When we arrived at the train station, we got turned around and didn't know which way to go. We called the B&B, and Gianluca walked up to meet us and show us the way. We only met Katja once, but she was very outgoing and friendly. Her paintings on the ceilings are delightful! The bedrooms are small, and not suitable for a couple who wants to sleep in the same bed, but we were very comfortable in the bunk beds. The bathroom was always spotless, and we hardly knew when there was someone in the other room. There is some street noise, but it's a safe residential neighborhood (in a PERFECT location just a block from St. Peter's) and not on a main route, so the noise isn't as bad as would be in other locations. I will definitely go back, and we're looking forward to seeing their "new apartment" that Gianluca and Katja expect to have ready later this year.

The owners are very friendly, and the place are always clean and tidy. The room is not that big, but who cares when you are in this beutiful city!! The area feels safe, and that is important when you are travelling alone.
