My wife and I had a fabulous experience at Il Boom. The directions for arrival were accurate, we were greeted warmly, and Angelo, the owner could not have been more helpful. Il Boom is in a lovely residential neighborhood of Trastevere, but easily accesible by foot, if desired, to the major tourist sites of Rome. Though this was our first stay at Il Boom, I would certainly return

This was a wonderful, quiet haven in a very busy city. It was relatively close to all major attractions. The bus stop was right outside the door and although transportation was easily found, my husband and I walked to many places. The rooms were spotless clean and the terrace was a nice escape from the crowds of Rome. Everyone was very helpful and our stay was unforgetable.

Our experience at Il Boom was wonderful. It was very clean and comfortable. It is in a quiet neighbourhood but close to areas of interest. The buses stopped right outside the door. The property is on a hill and access is up 4 flights of stairs so this may be a consideration for disabled persons or those who cannot climb stairs. The common area was usable at any time so this was great for those evenings where coffee and cookies just hit the spot. Also computer was available at no charge for e-mails home. Our host was very helpful and made us feel very much at home during our stay. And yes, we liked the 3 friendly cats (and the turtles).

Great location, just a short tram ride from central Rome or 7-8 euro taxi ride. Facilities great, lovely roof terrace with great view. Room was excellent. very spacious & comfortable with en-suite. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice and the terrace was great to sit out and eat breakfast. The only tiny downside was that parking is difficult and we had to leave the car up the hill about 7 minutes walk away. Otherwise everything was great and the parking issue is as we say, a minor detail. We would certainly use this again and strongly recommend it to friends. You can't go wrong with this one, a little Gem! Dealga & Marguerite, Liverpool, England

Il Boom is so comfortable and relaxed it's like a home-from-home, and Angelo is very friendly and most helpful. Two bus routes pass the door and travelling into the city is easy. Trastevere has lots of bars and restaurants, so visitors don't have to go into the city at night for entertainment. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and well-equipped, and the roof terrace is great for relaxing. The photos on the website are an accurate representation of the accommodation.

My wife and I stayed at IlBoom for the first leg of our honeymoon. The location was very good. It is situated a bit of a walk from some major attractions but if you don't mind walking (like us) it's no big deal. The property is situated on a steep hill in Trastavere. At the bottom of the hill there is a train stop that will take you anywhere in Rome for 1Euro. This was very convenient as by our third day we did get a bit tired of walking and just hopped on the train. One thing worth mentioning is that the B&B is located on the top floor of the building and there is no elevator...so if stairs and hills are a problem you may want to think twice. What we really liked about Trastavere was the night life in the Piazza's. This is definitely the place to be late night in Rome and is very local and not too touristy. If you want to be where the locals are, this is your bneighborhood. The B&B itself we would rate as above average. We stayed at much nicer B&B's during our trip to Italy for about the same rate (not in Rome). This one was very nice, but not spectacular. The room was big and clean and the breakfast was good (not great). There are a few cats laying around and there is some cat hair that is evident (not in the rooms though). Lastly, the family that owns the Il Boom is fantastic. They are very nice people and were extremely helpful and full of information. One of the main reasons we would go back to Il Boom is to see them again. Overall, for what it is, we thought that the rate could have been a little less but were generally happy with what we got. Next time we're in Rome, we would probably stay there again but might consider checking another place out.

Our stay at Il Boom exceeded all our expectations. Angelo and Nick were helpful and friendly and the property itself was cooler than any hotel. Impeccably styled in fabulous retro and vintage furniture and art, perfectly positioned for all that a city like Rome has to offer, a bus stop right out the front which takes you straight to the termini via the coliseum and don’t even get me started on the delicious home baked cakes and biscuits in the guest kitchen! I’ve stayed in B&B’s before which felt cramped, dated and lacked any form of privacy or guest spaces, but Il Boom was the complete opposite with a guest lounge and 2 roof top terraces to choose from! Take our advice too and get the bus from termini rather than a taxi. (It’s really straightforward and you will avoid being ripped off by a pushing taxi driver like we were!) We are looking forward already to our next visit to Rome and Il Boom!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Il Boom. It was approx 1 mile from all the tourist sites and we walked everywhere. There are quite a few stairs so probably not suitable for anyone who isn't too mobile. The room was spacious. The breakfast was DIY.

Retro b&b. Three rooms to choose from. We stayed in the Loren room, 9-10 May for two nights. Room was very characterful, with small private bathroom. Very much enjoyed the feeling of not staying in a hotel, but staying in someone's house. Very informal. As well as our room we had the use of a kitchen, living room and terrace. The kitchen was well stocked all day with tea/coffee/juice and snacks. No need to get up for breakfast by 10am every morning! Very good value for money. There is a no. 75 bus which stops just down the road from the b&b. This bus was very convenient and took us everywhere we wanted to go, including the Colosseum and Termini station to get our train to the airport. There was much to do in the two/three days that we were there on holiday. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a more informal and relaxed stay, more flexibility for breakfast and also you must like cats. The owner has three of them. Very friendly!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Il Boom. Angelo was very friendly and our room lived up to expectations. The breakfasts were great as we were able to help ourselves to a range of cereals, yoghurts, fruit juices and cakes at our own convenience. We appreciated that we were given a key and could come and go as we pleased. While Il Boom, was a little way from central Rome, it had a bus stop directly outside it was easy to access the main sites within 10 miuntes. We would highly recommend this accomodation.

It was the first time in Rome for us, and we spend a very nice trip. Il Boom was exactly like we expected, very lovely, quiet and friendly. It is gorgious to take your breakfast on the terasse ! Il Boom is also situated in a part of Roma, the Trastevere, very tipical and easy to walk to the other sites of the city. If we come back to Roma we would choose again Il Boom !

My wife and I had the most wonderful time staying at Il Boom. Given where it is situated in the Trastevere area of Rome, we actually felt like Romans, instead of being in the mix of many tourists. Angelo, our innkeeper, is an incredibly helpful, thoughtful gentleman -- very kind and very classy. His hospitality certainly made our trip quite memorable . . . we are also thankful that he allowed us to join him at a local pub to watch a football match on our last night there. The breakfasts were simple and delicious, and the homemade cakes were among our (mainly my wife's) favorites. There were two other couples (older, but friendly and spirited) who were there during our stay. Noise does travel if people are loud but thankfully, everyone was respectful of the surroundings. The rooms were spacious and cleverly decorated with themes of Italian pop culture from the 60s and 70s. Il Boom also has a restaurant in Trastevere in which we dined twice -- some of the best food I've ever had (Salvatore, you're a great chef!!!). This B&B was quite instrumental in making our first trip to Rome a marvelous and enjoyable experience. We most certainly plan to stay at Il Boom on our next journey to Rome.

Beautiful apartment with very friendly host, keen to help us enjoy our stay with good information, maps and leaflets. Really good breakfast area with amazing roof garden - views over Rome (would like to go back in Summer to be able to use it more!) Breakfast was self-service in a great kitchen lounge/area upstairs. I'd have preferred a few savoury items as well but the home made cakes, biscuits and fresh coffee (with real milk - as opposed to UHT found everywhere else in Italy) were absolutely first class! Apartment decor ranges from 50's - 70's in immaculate 40's designed rooms. The apartment is in Trastaverre which is a great part of Rome- excellent eating and beautiful range of architecture from medieval streets to 40's, 50's and 60's mansion like apartment blocks. Easy to walk into ancient city centre (15 mins) and great to be able to walk out of it and find excellent, decently priced restaurants near to our base. Il Boom also have their own restaurant about 10 mins away in the heart of the medieval district. Very good food and a good atmosphere but perhaps a bit 'up-market' if you prefer trattoria food. Good 'last night out' venue with 60's soundtrack. Our room (Vita) was really big - which is unusual when you read most reviews about hotels - and was spotlessly clean with good facilities. The bathroom was next door, tiled with black and white mosaics with the maddest toilet and bidet suite we've ever seen. Bizarrely, an English design as well! Huge, effective shower with loads of different sprays. Perfectly good but I really wanted all the shower nozzles to work - not enough water pressure at the top of this third floor apartment perhaps. The only reason that we didn't give the room 10/10 for cleanliness was that the bathroom had a bit of a smelly drain problem but I'm sure someone as conscientious as the owner will get that sorted soon. Good night's sleep on a (very) firm queen size bed. Nice balcony overlooking the elegant, plane tree lined road.

Couldnt have been better. Great location and great rooms. Nicer atmosphere than a hotel as well but you also get the best like privacy etc. Breakfast at any time you want is also a big plus. You'll get any advice needed off Angelo and he'll help if you need to book taxis or anything like that if needed. He was extremely helpful whenever we needed anything. his restaurant nearby is also superb. It's withing walking distance of all major attractions as well.Cheaper and a hell of alot better than most hotels.Very happy overall!

This was not our first time in Rome, but definately the best accomodation we've had in Rome! Il boom was charming and wonderful, with fantastic retro interior design, down to the smallest details. We had a bathroom across the hall, but this was not a problem at all. The bathroom was huge with a big jacuzzi tub, which was great to soak in after a long day of sightseing, especially since it was quite chilly (late october) during our visit. Some traffic noise from the street, but not more than you would have to expect in Rome I think. We slept well, and the bed was ok. Breakfast was served in a very nice common area, and there was also a great roof top terrace, although too cold to use it when we were there. The host, Angelao, was very welcoming and helpful, and spoke excellent english. The location was ok, about 10 minutes to walk to Santa Maria in Trastevere. It is many great places to eat in Trastevere, and we had dinner at this side of the Tevere every night. Of course we tried the Il boom reastaurant, great food and great atmosphere! We will stay at Il boom B&B next time we're in Rome! Hopefulley it won't be too long!

Gorgeous B&B! The place is just beautiful, old but all renewed and decorated in a very '50's style. Our room (Magnani) is huge and clean, and nicely furnished. The bathroom, across the corridor, though private, is the biggest one I've ever seen :D The jacuzzi is perfect, too, though maybe a little bit too noisy :P The breakfast served upstairs is delicious and includes home made cakes and cookies. The sorroundings are quiet but well communicated. You can reach the most famous places, like Fontana di Trevi, in a 20 minutes walk from Il Boom. Besides Trastevere is just a lovely area of the city. Angelo was very kind to us. He even told us where to go and how to move around the city and shared his lovely cats with us :) I definitely recommend the place to everyone!

Stayed there 3 nights and enjoyed it greatly. Room was very comfortable with large private bathroom across the hall. We used public transportation on our trip and the bus stop is within 50 meters of property. Angelo is very helpful and a great host. Residence is located in an attractive neighborhood with many resturants nearby including his own which was excellent. Would definitely stay there again.

Il Boom was WONDERFUL - a great find. It is beautifully decorated and the location is perfect for people who want to experience a Roman neighborhood, not just hordes of tourists. It was a 15-20 minute walk to the historic center (we walked to everything - Vatican, Pantheon, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, etc), and at the end of our sightseeing day, we really happy to get to come back to the adorable and "real" neighborhood of Trastevere. We would (and hopefully will!) stay there again in a heartbeat.
