Domus Mazzini filled all of our requirements. The location is great for proximity to The Vatican and is only a 7 Euro cab ride to the hub of shopping. The host, Ciro, is very knowledgeable and helpful. He made our stay so enjoyable with his hospitality and enthusiasm. Our family of 4 would definitely return for another stay and would recommend it highly.

This hotel was horrible. i was traveling with 3 friends and when we arrived the woman was incredibly unorganized. the way she confirmed our payment was taking the confirmation i had printed off and wrote "paid" on it. what if i hadn't printed the confirmation, or if i lost it? or i could have written "paid" on it myself. we had a 4 person room and were not informed that it would have a bunk bed. the bunk bed was a couch that separated into two pieces, so the bottom bunk was really just a "mattress" on the ground. immediately when we walked into the room the toilet was broken, so we were forced to use the staff bathroom that also doubled as a storage unit. there was a half empty bottle of shampoo left in the shower and half empty bottle of water left in the room - leaving us to believe that the room was not properly cleaned. there were bugs in the beds and in the shower. we ended up leaving the hotel and paying virtually the same amount at a regular hotel that was nice, clean, and in a central location. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. NOT RECOMMENDED.

The property was immaculate and it's a great value for your money. There are two great eateries next door and the walk to Piazza del Popolo is only about 15 minutes. But some advice: 1) Bring cash because you cannot pay for the room with a credit card; and 2) Since you are staying in a non-touristy neighborhood, bring your Italian book-- most people you will encounter will not speak English.

We were a group of eight people (ages ranging from 25 to 72), and the place suited us very well. It is very clean, quiet, spacious and well furnished. The staff, including the owner of the property, were very helpful. This is a place I'm not afraid to recommend

Working vacation - great quiet environment to sit in the room facing a sunny courtyard with good Internet access, etc. Room's in very nice shape and stays cool even without turning on AC (which is available). Most of the rooms have a mini-fridge. Location is outside touristy areas, but easily walkable to the Vatican or Piazza di Popolo to start wandering around the historic center. Breakfast is light, but good, and if all the croissants get eaten before you get up, you might score a trip to the local cafe courtesy of the owner. All in all, a great stay.

The location of the B&B in a quiet area is not too far away from all the highlights of Rome (walking distance 25 min. to Centre and Vatican and metro and bus stops are nearby. The B&B is clean, has a god bed and a modern bathroom. The breakfast was a complete European breakfast. Nearby the B&B are many possibilities to have lunch and dinner. Ask the owner, Ciro de Benedetti. In can recommend this B&B to other people.

We have spent a wonderfull week in this B & B located in one of Romes better districts - quiet - but nevertheless only a few minutes away from central Rome with (cheap) public transport. The roomes are extremely clean and the owner Ciro is extremely friendly and helpful and he knows all about Rome, Italy, football etc. As we told Ciro - we have only one small complaint - because of a fantastic fine italian restaurant Vanni (fair prices) - just across the street - we are returning home to Denmark with more kilos than we arrived with. We highly recommend this B & B and look forward to returning.

We loved being located in the Prati district! We were not inundated with all the touristy aspects of Rome, but could easily visit the important sites, then retire to where the real Romans live. Lovely, and the Vanni was one of our favorites! Ciro, the innkeeper, was incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and entertaining! We discussed football, sites to see, and food to eat over homemade breakfast every morning! Forza A.S. Roma!

Great location, away from the noise and madness, yet served well by good local bars and restuarants. The owner (Ciro) was really helpfull and spent much time pointing out areas of interest and making telephone bookings for galleries. Rooms were well sized and very, very clean. The room was very quiet at night. Get the Roma pass it pays for itself over 3 days. Ulisse trattoria very lively, Cafe Mazzini on the corner really friendly too.

We would highly recommend this B&B! The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and it is located in a very nice neighbourhood with lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. We found it to be a perfect base for exploring Rome. It is located on several major bus routes and is close to the Metro. Ciro speaks fluent English and is extremely helpful. We would definitely stay at the B&B Dolus Mazzini again.

We have spent a wonderful time in this B&B. The service we received was of a great quality. The place was nice and very clean. The owner, Ciro, speaks fluent english and he is very friendly. The location is great too, 3-4 blocks from a tube station, and bus stops are even nearer. We took the shuttle service (airport-city) provided by Ciro and it was perfect. We strongly recommend this B&B!

I had a wonderful stay at the Domus Mazzini B&B in Rome. It sits just outside the main portion of the city, but it was very easy to get around once I figured out the bus routes! The place was very clean and the owner was a real pleasure to deal with. He speaks excellent English and really goes out of his way to help you have a great stay. The breakfast was so fantastic that I frequently skipped lunch on my sight-seeing excursions. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Rome!

Had a very pleasant stay early October 2007. Rooms were of a good standard and clean. The host was welcoming, spoke good english and gave us all the information we needed for local travel etc. Able to leave bags there on the last day as we had a late flight. Breakfast is continental but plenty enough. Although not in the centre of Rome, it is walkable. Buses are just around the corner, and the tube about 10 minutes walk away. The Vatican is about 20 minutes walk. Would go back again if we return to Rome in the future.

Nice and in general quiet location in a friendly neighbourhood. A little bit outside the center, but the same can easily be reached with several bus lines. 500 m walk to the metro. Neigbourhood cafes and restaurants around without any tourists. Nice experience in contrast to the overcrowded central locations. Ciro is very helpful and speaks excellent English. We did not spent too much time in the hotel but everytime we came back late in the evening we felt like at home.

Pleasantly surprise with the spacious room and the shower area, which is by far the largest, most clean and modern which we encountered so far. Breakfast is served from 9 onwards, but we adapted by adjusting our wake up time, which means we get more rest:-). Quite a long walk to the Lepento Metro, but compensated by it's proximity to Vatican. Excellent B&B to stay in!

Overall our stay at Domus Mazzini was super - extremely clean, great neighborhood, quiet for being in the city, very nice family managing it. Unfortunately I think we had our expectations sky high after the reviews we'd read here. It turns out that Ciro is a human like the rest of us :-) He seemed distracted and while he seemed very eager to accommodate, he was often at the same time very rushed and seemed a bit unsatisfied. When we arrived a large amount of info was disgorged to us verbally regarding buses and restaurants, but quickly and with no maps, printed lists, or opportunity to write it down. There were no custom-cooked breakfasts as mentioned in previous reviews, which we didn't care too much about really except that other reviewers had mentioned them. Maybe other things were going on with him that contributed to our impression of him being a bit scattered and anxious, I don't know. But he was very nice and did great at accommodating our requests - arranging an early morning ride to the airport for us for example. His mother and brother by contrast were much more relaxed, enthusiastic, and spirited, although they seemed to not have as much a direct hand in the management of the B&B.

Excellent room and very quiet location, which whilst a little out of the main city is well connected by public transport and not too long a walk. Good mix of visitors too to meet, but overall did not find the place met the expectations of what was said by the past reviewers that caused us to select it. The breakfasts were quite disappointing some mornings and were well below par compared to other places we stayed in subsequently. However, for a 2 - 4 night's stay is it is OK, the owner is friendly and, as a past reviewer rightly says, you will not be in it much, given all to there is to see and do in Rome.

This is a great place to stay. The house is beautiful, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good for italian standards : coffee or tea, toast, juice, yogurt, etc. The location is a nice and quiet neighbourhood of Rome, near the Tevere river, and is easy to get to once you figure out which bus or metro to take. Overall, I had a great stay here, and I would highly recommend it.

We went to Italy to visit our daughter who is studying abroad and found the accomodations and staff at Domus Mazzini to be excellent. Ciro is a great guy and very helpful in all aspects of your visit. This B&B was in an excellent location just a short distance from Rome's city center which was nice to have some peace & quiet after being in Rome during the day. Ciro speaks fluent English which was very helpful for getting directions and restaurant recommendations. It was a little hard to find as there is no sign on the building so you need to ask someone where the street is and then look for the # on the building. The best directions would be to get to the Piazza Mazzini and look for the florist sign, take a right and go 1 block until you see Vanni's restaurant, then look diagonally across the street from Vanni's and it is the big yellow building with large wooden doors. I would recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Rome. Thank You Ciro for the hospitality. Jim.

Fairly smart relaxing area. 4 Regular bus lines into town center but you can walk : 15 minutes. We had the family room with a 17 and 16 year old. The standard is very high, very clean, maid changes towels every day. Breakfast was, contrary to other comments, perfectly adequate even for a 17 year old gannet. We fully recommend.

This property is located in the "Prati" district, which is a nice residential neighbourhood. About 6-7 minutes walk from the "Lepanto" metro stop, but be aware that the line "A" stops at 9 PM. About a 15-20 mintue walk to the Vatican or Via del Corso. Very nicely furnished rooms with a "homely" feel. The owner Ciro is an excellent host, speaks perfect English and is very helpful.

We are a couple with two grown up children and recently spent a long weekend in Rome. We found Domus Mazzini an excellent value for money. First, it is located in a quiet, clean area, still very close to city centre. The rooms are not big, but well kept, very clean, with comfortable furniture and modern bathrooms. Ciro is a very helpful person, speaks English fluently and gives you very useful practical advice on the city. The breakfast served was very good, including cold cuts, cheese, yogurt. Overall, I think if you travel as a tourist Domus Mazzini is an excellent choice, with very personal, friendly service. Even if you are on business it is an alternative to the somewhat unpersonal service of a (much more expensive) hotel. Ciro can also arrange transfer to and from the airport which we made use of, and saved time (and I think also money).

Wonderful stay, in large part thanks to Ciro's excellent hospitality. The B&B is very clean and comfortable. The area is also very well served by public transit, and this made visiting Rome a breeze. On this topic, we happened to take the Line A of the metro all the way to Anagnina and connect to a bus to Ciampino airport. The metro ride was about 40 minutes. The bus stop at Anagnina was very easy to find and the buses seem to be operating on time, with a departure every 40 minutes. However, allow up to 30 minutes for the ride to the airport instead of the 15 minutes advertised on the airport's website. This is by far the cheapest option, costing only a metro ride and a bus ticket that is 1 euro or so.

I travel A LOT for my job and I can honestly say that our stay at Domus Mazzini was more enjoyable than any hotel I have stayed at for business. From a value perspective nothing compares. We stayed for 5 days and Ciro welcomed us like old friends, helped us find those out of the way treasures, and always made extra effort to make sure we felt comfortable. Domus Mazzini is in a quiet neighborhood, with pleasant little coffee shops, family owned restaurants and bustling produce markets on the weekends. It is within walking distance of St. Peter’s and the down town area. Just around the corner is a major bus stop and the tube is only 10 minutes away on foot. I can go on about the convenience of this location, but others have covered that. We would like to emphasis how welcome Ciro, his Mother and Rossanna made us feel. The next time I am in Rome I have no need to search for a place to stay – I have already decided – I am staying at Domus Mazzini! PS. Make sure you ask Ciro or his mother for directions to Pepe’s. The pasta was the best we had in Rome!

My wife and I choose this B&B due to the positive reviews on venere.com. We found the reviews to be accurate - the manager Ciro is friendly, most accomodating and helpful however he is only at the B&B for arrivals/departures and breakfast so it would be more convenient if a telephone with free local call service be installed in the room or public area for the guests. Otherwise you will need to purchase a telephone card to use the public phone across the street and it has no lighting so bring a flashlight when using after dark! The bus stop is right around the corner and the metro is about a 15 minute walk. We were there when the metro had a random strike so make sure you understand how to use the buses as well! The B&B is very clean and the neighborhood is safe and within walking distance to the Vatican. Breakfast was yogurt, cheese, cold cuts, bread, jam and the American coffee we requested. A little more variety for multi night guests would be nice as well as written instructions for using the satellite TV. We highly recommend this B&B and will certainly stay here again when we return to Rome.

This is a very good quality bed and breakfast. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the shower is excellent. The breakfasts are prepared to order and contain bread, cakes, yogurt and cereal, plus coffee and juices. The owner is very helpful and is willing to look things up on the internet or make phonecalls on guests' behalf, and speaks good English. The four bedded room we were in contains bunk beds which are suitable for children, but maybe not for adults who would need more room. But then, you are not going to be spending too long in your room in this wonderful city! The Prati district is highly recommended: quiet and safe, but has several good but inexpensive restaurants where you can eat with local people. The best we tried were Ullisse on Via Ferrari and Nuovo Fiorentino on Via Brofferio, as well as the cheap trattoria, Cacio e Pepe on Via Settembrini. There are very good transport links to the rest of the city by buses 628 and 280, which run most of the time, and by Metro A at Lepanto, a short walk away. The airport transfer booked for us both ways was prompt and efficient. In short, an excellent choice for a Rome B&B!

Can't be happier with this B&B. We only stayed for one night before our return to US. We were supposed to be back in afternoon, but missed the earlier train. We called around 4 PM before the next train departure, the owner was nice enough to have waited for us till we arrived at 10 PM. The owner is very gracious, professional, and welcoming. He called for a quality shuttle service for the next morning, put the phone in our room when he found out our cell phone doesn't work in Rome, and gave us a nice breakfast tray since we needed to leave very early. We wish we had stayed here for our entire stay in Rome.

I can honestly say that the Domus Mazzini is the BEST value a Bed and Breakfast can offer. The room was spectacular with a very comfortable bed and an extremely clean bathroom. The Prati location was excellent- a short walk to the Lepanto Metro station and a beautiful 15 minute walk to the Vatican. It's a very quiet and peaceful area which means you can eat at restaurants with the locals instead of touristy places which are far more expensive. I would say the best part about Domus Mazzini is the owner Ciero and his family who are wonderful people. Ciero spoke perfect English and was attentive and just a very welcoming host. The rooms are beautiful and clean, the breakfast tasty and diversified and the owner is a very nice and helping person who speaks an excellent english. A huge advantage are the excellent public transport links. Only 7 min. walk to the metro station Lepanto, Line A. Really lovely, new, clean, simply and stylishly decorated. Away from the bustle of the touristy areas, and in a stylish district, but only a 20 minute walk to the Vatican (unless you stop at the markets on the way!), and very good public transport links.
