We were in Rome after a Med. cruise for a vacation. This place is not really suitable with small children as all the floors are slick with wet and there is gas stove. We (2 couples) stayed 4 days: the view is great, very comfortable beds, lots of hot water however there are no extra towels or cleanup service. It's basically a 2 bedrm unit on the 9th floor, with kitchen/sitting rm in the middle. We had the place to ourselves. The area is noisy with open windows. The AC did not seem to work properly (only fan) The ceiling fan is missing a screw and so it grates and stopped after 5 minutes. There is however a good breeze with open windows. I do not suggest you stay there during hot weather. We were not given face cloths and the cups were either demi-tasse or huge. Locking mechanism is very tricky. Elevator holds 2 people and some luggage. Breakfast: No regular coffee maker only very small Italian expresso type. Breakfst was rusks, lots of apples, (cake type packages) and coffee with sugar. We added our own cereal, milk and yogurt. There are 2 small grocery stores and 1 large grocery shop all within 1 1/2 blocks. Internet is very cheap - across the street about .80 for 1/2 hr. You can phone to US or Canada very cheap from this internet shop (.50 for several minutes)Internet (free) at the park across the street, but you have to walk around with your laptop to the gate at the entrance about 1 blk away. Restaurants; Lots of Coffee bars and serveral restaurants Le Streghe and Bar Gastronomique are the 2 best- both on Tuscalano Rd (2 blks). Also go left for very good shopping - shoes. also nr two metro stns. On direct A line metro to Vatican. Roy is very helpful, he booked our taxi to the airportfor us and it came on time. Roy is only available by phone(2 numbers)and not before about 9:15 AM as he is a night owl. For the price the location and unit is great!

Rooms were a good size, it's basically a 2 bedroom apartment on the 7th floor (yes there is an elevator - good view too). One disadvantage is that you don't know who you'll be sharing the apartment with. Roy gave a very thorough welcoming, even helped us with the directions on getting there after we got off the metro. It was about 10 min walk from the metro. It was kind of far from all the main tourist places, which would have been fine but the Metro is only open till 9pm (Jan 2011 - 2012) which limited our evening activities. There is a great Gelati place nearby. Also Roy recommended a good restaurant that had authentic food at reasonable prices.

Excellent value for money. Only disadvantage is distance to center, although 15 min. by metro is not too bad, considering the very favoreable price and good quality of the accomodation.

We loved our long weekend spent at Bed & Breakfast Da Roy a Cinecittà. The rooms were clean and spacious, just like in the web pictures, and the place was really easy to find (just 5 minutes from the metro line). The host provided everything we needed for breakfast (including jams, butter, toast, fruits, juice). We also got clean towels and a map with the tourist attractions and metro stations. The kitchen and bathroom were very clean and well sized. And the price is unbeatable for a place like this from where you can reach the center of Rome within minutes. The facility is located near the Porta Furba metro station. The metro runs until 23:30 in working days and until 1:30 at night in the weekends (which is great). But even if you find yourself in the city after theese hours there are night busses you can take to get to this B&B. All you need to do is find a bus to take you to the Termini station (in almost every bus station stops a bus which goes to Termini), and then you can take any bus which goes to Via Tuscolana (bus 55 during the day and n1 during the night). Also, the location of this B&B is in a residential area so there are not many touristic landmarks around(even though it is located close to central Rome). Overall we were very pleased of our staying, we recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Rome and we hope to be back again soon.

Finding this B&B was a bit challenging, however the owner Roy did all he could to direct us to it over the phone. The room was huge, and the view of Rome is amazing! The bathroom could use some cleaning, but overall not bad. The "breakfast" provided left much to be desired, only some toast, fruit and coffee and juice. Great location if you plan on using the subway system, would not recommend if you are planning to walk ~ way too far from any major ancient Rome attractions. The restaurant recommended by Roy just around the corner has excellent food and great service, not to mention fair prices. This B&B is great for young couples and anyone looking for a nice, comfy place to sleep at night while visiting Rome. Overall, once we found the place, it was a great experience. If you plan to drive in Rome, which I would NOT recommend, get a good map, but don't be surprised when none of the streets are marked!

Roy is great and welcoming. Outside of this place being a bit away from the center, if you don't plan on staying till 2-3 in the morning, this is perfect as it's just 1.5 blocks away from a the Metro line stop.

Tortora is a friendly man. We enjoyed to stay in this Da Roy B&B. The problem I have no cellphone so difficult to contact him because he lives far from the B&B. However, it's not far from the subway station. And many supermakets and pizza bars in the area.

This B&B met my expectations. There were no nasty surprises, Roy (the host) was charming and helpful - he gave us a metro map etc when we arrived. The only things that could be improved would be the breakfast (juice and fruit in the fridge, and a type of dried toast bread) and the location. We ended up buying muesli and milk for breakfast at the local supermarket which was fine. Regarding the location, it was about only 15 minutes from town in the metro, but if you go in twice a day it chews up about 1 & a half hours (allowing for walking to the station and waiting time). Not a problem really, but it seemed to take longer nearer the end of our stay. If you can't get a room at a convent/monastery closer to town (they seem to booked out weeks/months in advance) then I'd recommend this place. It was quiet enough, very clean and had air conditioning - everything you might need.

I spent 4 lovely days in Rome and in B&B Da Roy a Cinecittà. We was 4 people and actually used all apartment. There was 2 spacious rooms with small living room and kitchen corner. There wasn't a balcony. Each room has a TV. Rosario gave us a very hearty welcome, showed the apartment, made us a coffee. There was a food in the fridge, so we used it for breakfast. The flat is situate in a quarter near by airport Ciampino and it was a little noisy by night, but not a real problem. Very close to the subway, supermarket, market for fruit, pizzaria...10 min to Termini station by subway. The only problem was the water in the bathroom-the pressure was low( the flat was on the 8 floor)and wasn't hot water all the time

The shower could use some cleaning. The place is close to the subway. All has been said in several reviews, to be short: good place, we'll come back.

The flat is not in the heart of Rome, but in great connection. The tube is 3 min walking, very easy to get to the center. The flat has 2 rooms with a big kitchen in between. The other room wasnt occupied during our visit, so we had the flat for us only:) Linen was changed on the third day and the flat was cleaned up also. Rosario(the host)was very friendly and welcoming, showed everything, gave the keys and the tube map with the timetable and last trains with night buses. There was not very warm in the flat, it has air cond to warm the bedroom up a bit. Generally saying we enjoyed our staying and had our possibility to watch day-by-day life of romans. I would come there again :)Ciao

we stayed in apartment for two days. We had booked both the rooms of the BB. We arrived at Rome in midnight and were in touch with owner before arriving. Owner is extremely helpful and on our request came to station to guide us. This is a flat which is offered as BB by the owner. Owner painstakingly explained does and dont's. He gave us maps and location details. Apartment is on 8th floor, yes there is lift :) Breakfast is average if one expects a full english breakfast :)(toasts / butter and few cakes along with few fruits) but we had liberty to use kitchen as and when we want. Apartment is well furnished and 'air-conditioned'. It was very hot when we were in Rome so air conditioner was a must. The apartment had fans in bed room as well. Owner is very cooperative and we thoroughly enjoyed stay at the BB. We would certainly recommend this place to others.

We can highly recommended B&B Da Roy a Cinecitta . The room was very nice, clean and modern. Rosario was very nice and helpful. He did provide us very useful information in Rome: interesting places to visit, how public transport works, showed us traditional restaurant near by. The property is situated about 4 minutes walking from the underground station. You can reach all sightseeing very easily. Cross the road and you will find the traditional market with fresh fruit and veg. Rosario also found out where we can buy the special food for my celiac diet. You have your own keys, so you are very independent. We really enjoyed our stay in Rome. Next time we will definitely stay in this B&B. Thank you Rosario. :-)

This was a wonderful place to stay. First and foremost was the quality of the room, the bathroom and the help provided by Roy. Secondly, it is right on the metro line and that makes getting around amazingly easy and fast. The food provided was healthy and plenty of it....three kinds of fresh fruit, very good coffee, milk, toast, butter and jams and juices. Add your own eggs and cheese - you're done. There is a clothes washer one can use, a huge plus. There is a full kitchen with a huge picture window overlooking the neighborhood. You can just make out the Vatican from the window. The rooms are spacious...clean clean clean. The quality of the mattress was a very good. The view in the morning and at night was amazing. You are on the top floor with a view. The elevator always worked..so no worries there. The make or break it part for me is always the host...Roy is the best. He has left luggage services, should you need it. He's very helpful and can answer just about any question you might have. This was really a treasure for us to find. Thanks again, Roy!!! Kim and Kelly (UC Student and Mom)

It was the first time I stayed at Da Roy and I'll surely come again if I travel to Rome again. It was better than a normal B&B because it was a real flat, we had our own keys and we could use the kitchen to cook. The only other people were the family who rented the other room so we had total privacy. There were many things left in the fridge, we prepared ourselves a very big breakfast.

Too far from the downtown, neighborhood is a little dirty. The room was sufficient, quiet and enough space. Breakfeast was minimal, and self serve. For the price it was good though, I just could have spent 20 more euros and would have been closer to everything. The host was nice. I paid 15 more euros in Venice at a B&B for a much better experience, so one could say I am unfairly comparing.

It was a nice and welcoming stay. Rosario was very friendly and offered to show us around the rooms and gave directions to the nearest metro, the best restaurant and offered to take us in his own car after 10pm,when the metro had stopped running (but there was also a metro bus running). We would definately stay there again and recommend it to anybody who is visiting rome. We stayed in a triple room, with a shared kitchen and shared bathroom, even though we hardly saw the other vistiors, it was as if we had the whole apartment to ourselves. Near the hotel,we met the locals who were also very friendly and gave directions restaurants and it was a bonus as it was a lot cheaper locally. We all loved our stay and Rosario tries his best to ensure everyone enjoys their stay and nothing seemed too much for him. We will definately be visting again. Thanks Rosario.

The owner, Rosario, is extremely nice and welcoming. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the metro station Porto Fubra Quadraro (sp?). This station is 10-20 minutes by metro from all of the largest sites in Rome (10 minutes to Termini Central Station). The apartment was great. Shared bathroom and kitchen, all very clean. Water is a little cold and takes some time to warm up, but not a big deal. In fact, it was nice to share with the 3 other women living next to us, because we could compare notes about Rome at night. If you would like to stay out late (as we did), know that the train to Porto Fudra Quadraro turns off at about 11. However, throughout the night, there are busses running in line with the metro, so learn the bus schedule and it will be fine. We also stayed in a smaller, more expensive, centrally located hotel in Rome and far preffered our stay at Da Roy a Cinecitta. Highly recommended!

A bit difficult to find at first- especially if you arrive after 9 pm with bus instead of subway- but you can count on the kindness of Italians! Very convenient and comfortable, close to food stores- one on the way to the subway- and a subway station (less than 5 minutes). You can cook if you wish to- there is even oil, vinegar, salt and pepper at your disposal. You make your own breakfast according to your own schedule- fruit, juice, jam, coffee, toasts... provided by your host. You can count on Roy's kindness and competence to get all the information you need!

Supermarket, bank, restaurants, market with fresh fruit and vegetables, the subway; everything you need is closeby. Rome is very beautiful, and due to our stay in Da Roy a Cinecittà we enjoyed our stay even more. When we go back to Rome (and we will surely do that) we hope we can stay at Da Roy a Cinecittà. The Bed & Breakfast was great because it was very close to the subway station and the directions they give you are perfect. There were two bedrooms and a shared kitchen, living room, and bathroom. There is a full bed and twin bed in both bedrooms, so it could have a maximum of 3 people. This place would be great if you and another couple (or 3) rented the whole apartment, it's really nice. We didn't know the other people but they were very nice and it was great. There is food and drinks in the kitchen for you and there are some closeby pizza places. I reccommend this place especially for the price.

Da Roy a Cinecittà is a great choice especially for two couples traveling together. Each will have a separate, roomy bedroom with a good size living area and kitchen in between. Large closets and drawers in bedrooms. Near a "A" line subway stop about 15-20 minutes from the train station. The owner speaks pretty good English, spends time showing how everything in the apartment works and is very accomodating. It was the nicest facilities we had during a month in Italy. Would stay there again.

You had to make your own breakfast (food/coffee, etc. provided), but you had the a full kitchen/utensils to do it! This is 2 room apartment, so it's more like renting an apartment than a B&B. We really enjoyed it. Not close to the center of Rome, but close to the subway - so it didn't matter. We only saw the other couple once, for about 2 minutes - so we had our own apartment. The host was great - nice guy.

Let me start by saying that my wife and I stayed in 14 different hotels for our European vacation in the summer of 2006 (Aug – Sept) – so all our reviews will be comparing the hotels on the trip. European hotels are smaller and simpler than American hotels, so it doesn’t seem fair to compare them. For the most part, breakfast in a B&B is not worth it – especially if you have to pay a little more. We generally ate one morning at the included breakfast, and then skipped the other mornings – looking for a local place to enjoy breakfast. Also, all of our hotels had small bathrooms and very small showers – so be prepared with a good attitude and knowledge that you are there to see the sights – not soak in the tub! ****** This was an interesting place to stay. It’s close to the Metro – but far from the sights of Rome. The biggest draw back, was not having any person around to help you out if you needed. For instance, we got locked out and had to call and wait for the owner to come by and help us, and he was mad. Our “roommates” were okay – but messy and I could see how the wrong people in the other room could make the stay a little more difficult. Unlike a shared bathroom in a hotel – we had to walk around very quietly in fear of waking the people in the other room – which was right next to bathroom. Neighborhood is okay. The Internet place right downstairs is convenient. The “breakfast” was cornflakes and toast they leave in the cupboards for you. I'd recommend only if you had a lot of people and booked both rooms.

A wonderful place, easily accessable with the metro and by bus. A perfect comprimise between wanting to be close to everything you need, and decent prices because you're not bang in the centre of town.

A great place to stay in Rome on a budget. Good location, close to the metro. Unusual to be in an apartment at the top of a modern(ish) tower block but none the worse for that. Rosario was a helpful and accommodating host. Perfect if you are booking both rooms. You get the whole B&B with someone to come in and make you breakfast!

We were very satisified with our stay in Rome. I could really recommend the accomandation. It's a flat in a private tenement of several parties. In this flat you can find 2 bedrooms with 1 double bed and 1 single bed in each room, 1 kitchen together with a living room and 1 bath room with shower and toilet. We were 4 people so we had the flat totally on our own. The host is very friendly. We were welcomed with an aperitif. Every morning he made us breakfast and he gave us tips concerning the sightseeing and good restaurants in the area arround. Really nice place to stay. It's 5 minutes to walk to the metro station and it tooks only arround 10-15 minutes to get into the center of Rome.

Lovely B&B. Easy to find, and very close to Porta Furba subway station. Amazing rooms and bathroom, spacious, clean and optimally climatised. The Host, Rosario, is a very nice guy. I have no doubt: if I come back Rome I will choose this place to stay! Muy recomendable, tocando a la boca de metro de Porta Furba. Apartamento con habitaciones espaciosas y salón con TV, todas con aire acondicionado. El baño es amplio y muy limpio.

A nice little apartment close to the underground station. A quiet residential area. Parking a bit difficult but overall a pleasant stay in Rome.
