We had an excellent stay at Bed & Breakfast Da Marta e Alida. One of the managers/employees met us nearby to walk us to the room. Although we were just a bit late, he was so very helpful and nice and answered all of our questions about the area, local places to enjoy dinner, etc. The room had a great view onto a busy street and you could see Santa Maria Maggiore - beautiful! Although it was just a bit loud it was a great location and it was kept very clean. The bathroom was spacious, and although it could be updated, it was clean and secure (we had our own key to use it). There was an elevator to help us get our stuff to the third floor and that was very helpful at times. My husband and I would 100% recommend staying here. We enjoyed four nights there and were sad to leave!

When we arrive in the B&B we discovered we had booked two bedrooms with only one shared bathroom and we didn't disappointed because we didn't realize that. A Girl of he staff proposed us to move to another apartment 100 right away where they have two other nice bedrooms with two bathrooms. Although we were worried about some bad reviews from some other guests complaining about some change of location, We accepted and we appreciated that accomadation: it is as comfortable as the one we saw for first (same standars, same colors of the walls and absolutely the same location). They were very kind not asking us any extra money for this upgrade

The owner was very friendly and tried to offer us travel information although she didn't speak much English and we didn't speak Italian. Unfortunately, the restaurant -- Aquila Nero -- that she recommended (good and economical, she said) that we try on our first night was a disaster and rip off (rude and tried to sneak a 10euro tip on a 24euro meal on us)! Can't blame her for that but then the fan that they promised to bring us that night never arrived (no aircon in room) and since it rained that night, we let it pass. It's ok, not bad but I wouldn't stay here again simply because there are more welcoming places that I can stay at with better location and facilities at just 5 or 10 euro more per night.

Great welcoming. Our hostess gave us a map and recommended many places to visit. She new about how to get from place to place and made us feel comfortable. The bedroom we had was very small and the shared bathroom was adequate, but often busy. The location is not the best for first time visits to Rome, especially if you like to go out at night (poor public transportation at night). We wished we were more centrally located, but the place does have a close to a metro stop with short rides to major sights so daytime sightseers should be ok.

The welcoming from the personnel was excellent. They were very kind. The only less than positive aspect was the breakfast that could be a little better (it consisted of just a cup of coffee and milk with a roll).

We stayed at Da Marta for 4 nights. This was our first time to Rome so it was important to find accommodations within easy reach of the main sights. This location was a short walk to Colosseum and subway to Vatican was right around the corner. The address given of the Da Marta was very misleading and confusing to find. The street of the location given was not on any tourist map so we had to stop at a magazine kiosk and peruse the detailed maps to find this little alleyway street. We arrived at the location, where there was only a small sign pointing to the buzzer. After waiting outside for 20 minutes, we were greeted and told they had 2 b&b locations and this was only the meeting spot so we had to walk 15 to 20 minutes to our room (I'm not sure why we met here in the first place). If you have alot of luggage be aware. They double booked our room so we had to stay at the other location on the first night which was a hassle (we had read that this had happened before). Pictures on Venere show the best room so a bit misleading. Ours was one with shared bathroom. It was the smallest and noisiest room out of all the locations we stayed in Austria, Italy, and Greece. There was one window overlooking a courtyard and since this was mainly a residential building with no a/c, all windows were open and you could hear everything. The breakfast is pre-packaged croissants, toast, jams, and orange juice. The coffee is freshly made. The shower was electric heat and went back and forth from scolding to freezing. There was only 1 roll of toilet paper put in the bathroom each day which wasn't enough for two double rooms to share so we had to buy our own toilet paper. We were each provided with one bath towel and one hand towel for our entire stay. The staff were excellent and the highlight of our stay. I recommend booking in advance for your first Rome visit or local holidays but many hotels seem to keep rooms available for drop-ins. Enjoy your stay!

The B&B is not exactly that is presented on this site, it's an other one, farther the Termini Station. The room is very small et the bathroom, only a shower, is noisy.

Me and my husband had a really nice time in this B&B, we were also transfered to another structure, and so we had the cahnce to see both of them and they were both very nice, well organized, very well located, only ten minutes away from Colosseum (walking), subway right beside to it, (specially from Modern House), internet right next door... really nice. we've got the shared bathroom and we had no problems at all, it was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was great, in a very nice and big kitchen. Well, we had a really good time.

Were, do I begin? This was the most horrible place I have ever stayed in Europe! This privatly owned property is completly unprofessional. The lady who runs it quoted diffrent prices when we arrived. She refussed any credit cards, with out notice the next day she demanded cash and the price went back up. The rooms were dirty, the room was not made a singel day of our stay; she said the maid was sick. The bathroom was always dirty. She also lives in this place and has early morning phone conversations, talking to friends. My friend speeks fluent Italian and was completly abel to comunicate, this place is a scame, and felt very uncomfortable; not worth any were near the quoted price. Not to mention, the phots were totaly off. I think that venere should seriously reconsider sending its cutomers here.

The general condition of the double room is good, clean, very quiet and there is a lift carrying us to the third floor. The host, Lucia, is very nice to us. (However, she don't speak any English.) It is very near to the Metro or the Terminal station of Rome. However, it is very difficult to locate the property since the address is incomplete (without mentioned the actual Unit no 9 of the property of the third floor.) It is better to call her to let her bring you to the property for convenience or waiting at the nearby church. The price charging is a little expensive. However, comparing with that of others in Rome, the price is acceptable.

My parents and I were extremely late when we arrived at Roma. We followed a taxi to find the place, but the lady was waiting for us at the door, which I really appreciated. Breakfast was very good, the location of the place is 10 minutes away from the coloseo; Rooms were not particularly clean, but acceptable. We did not have our private bathroom, so we sometimes had to wait for other people to finish what they were doing. Very nice stay in general
