You cant go wrong with the location on this one. It is just a 10 minute bus-ride from Termini. From Termini take Bus 360 (Muse) and get off at the intersection of Po and D'Italia. Its just a 2,3 minute walk from there. The location is 8 minutes walk to Via Veneto (Rome's Champs Elysee), 12 minutes walk to the Spanish Steps, 16 minutes walk to the Trevi Fountain, 20 minutes walk to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Rome is expensive and I think I paid a pretty decent price for this B&B. I didn't meet Paolo but the hostess Mariella was great. She makes excellent coffee. I wish they would buy a bigger toaster or add a 2nd toaster to the breakfast room because there's always a queue infront of it. Overall my experience was great. You will find it difficult to find a better accomodation in high season with this price.
Italy, Aug 2009
One of the employees was very unpolite as she was asked to refill our coffee. As an italian I know that those people think that they are so important and that we depend on them, but a little education wouldn't harm.

Nice place to stay. Room was clean, bathrooms also. But the shower bath is really small :). Internet was working so we could plan our trips easily. After arrival we got the map of Rome with description from where leaves bus lines to the city center. But we didn't use them. Is not so far from the property by walk to the center. Only think we didn't like so much was breakfast. Always the same. You don't have so big choice. But cappuccino was really good. Nice place and next time we would also pick this B&B.

Hey! We've stayed there with my mum. When we've booked it was private with facilities outside the room but when we came they gave us private with the bath! Rooms (we've stayed there 2 times in different rooms) were perfect, but had different size. The second one was really big!! We felt like home there. We've tried 2 different hotels (1 in Rome and 1 in Florence) for about the price we've paid here, but they was nothing before this hotel. the only thing is the name of the Hotel)) we've didn't remember it ever ))) PS to get WI FI access you should ask how to make connection on the reception since it's secured and it's not possible to find the network yourself :) I would very reccoment this hotel! have a great vacation in ROme!

Having spent 4 weeks traveling through Italy in the heat of July, this was one of the cheapest places we found, but one of the cleanest and coolest. A pleasant surprise well located in Rome. Great value for money and friendly service!

Great place and location in Rome. Very simple and clean. Fun breakfast area to talk to other travelers (you all eat together at shared tables), shared bathrooms that work out well. (We never had to wait for anyone). Very nice staff. Our room had a window facing the street and it was loud at times. Large people beware of tiny 2 1/2'x2 1/2' shower stall. Ten minute walk to spanish steps. Recommend the Romapass if you are planning on using public transportation and seeing lots of sights. They serve the same breakfast that we had at every bed and breakfast we went to which is: Bread, cereal, pastry, various spreads, juice, coffee or cappucino....(don't count on protein, vegies, or fruit)Italians like to have their sugar and caffeine high in the morning. Count on having a good lunch later!

the shower was disgusting, dirty!! They only cleaned the bathroom once, we stay for 3 nights. They turned off the juice machine when we were still having breakfast, the guy in charge told us it was automatic, he entered and turned the switch off he was with the flu coughing all over the breakfast it was unbelievable.

Overall, it's fine. It was very private, we only saw our fellow travelers on breakfast. Shared bath is clean and ok. But there are some little things, that bothered me. 1) The breakfast time on this website is stated 7-10, on the door of the breakfast room, it was 8-10. We asked for an earlier breakfast (7.30) and got it on the first days. But on the last day of our stay the staff changed and they forgot to inform the new staff (or us). Plus - breakfast food only consists of prepackaged hotel-breakfast junk, only coffee was good. 2) The cleaning service seemed to have taken a look in our suitcases. We found some papers there (with reservations), that were not ours. Plus they folded our damp cloth and towels that we had laid to dry. 3) We asked for a baby potty for our child in advance and were kindly assured, that it was available (on email), but when we got there and asked for it, they did not have any. Location is really near to the Villa Borgese and Borgese Gallery, walkable to Spanish steps, but really far from the other attractions, bus connections are good. Overall we where fine and Rome is great. Probably we would stay there again. I have stayed in a Rome hotel 2 times before, both were worse (and more expensive).

Typical budget price hotel - enter through unwelcoming door. go up dark staircase , unlock door and a pleasant budget price hotel opens up with nice staff and clean quiet rooms. We would stay again. At breakfast, see if you can catch the toast we didnt manage to - that thing has quite a spring - book it - you will be fine!

I had relatively high hopes for this B&B based upon other reviews and I would have given better ratings if not for the very poor cleanliness and cleaning of our private bathroom. Without getting into too much detail, some areas of the bathroom looked like they had never been cleaned since it had been updated/built and it seemed that while we were there, only a half-effort was done to clean it. Also, we had asked for a taxi to be called to pick us up the morning we were checking out, but it never showed. Don't know if it was ever called or was running very late, but we barely made our train after we lugged our luggage to a taxi stand several blocks away. We won't be staying here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Rome "the Eternal city". The accommodations were comfortable- walking distance to Villa Borghese, Via Veneto and the Tritone fountain, and the Spanish steps. Paolo was a gracious and welcoming host, going out of his way to make us comfortable including answering any questions we had and even helping us with a small load of laundry. Thanks

We have already advised our time of arrival but the owner still wanted us to call him upon arrival. It is not cheap for us to call while on international roaming. We found one can of coke missing after our 3rd day of staying. If the cleaners had broken it, at least inform us. Location - not very central but it is understandable for the price we're getting. It was 20 minutes walk from the train station. Rooms - very big but it is next to the main street and we could not keep the windows tightly shut. It could get very noisy late at night and early in the morning. Breakfast - nice but we missed two breakfasts because we went out early and the owner did not offer to pack breakfast for us, unlike another property we stayed in. Shared baths - very clean, no complaints Elevators - available

My husband and I recommend staying at this hostel, because the room was really clean and comfortable (we had a double room with a private bathroom) and most important of all -- quiet and equipped with air conditioning. Paolo was also very welcoming, polite and helpful. Thanks a lot! We are planning to stay there again during our next visit to Rome.

Very Nice B&B, oviously a bit basic as you would expect in this price range. Paolo was very welcoming and explained how to get a round Rome. Rooms are clean and bathrooms also(if you don't have an en-suite you share 2 bathrooms between 3 rooms - so very good). The breakfast could maybe have been a bit better.

The location of the Bed and Breakfast (in the north of Rome, near the villa Borghese) is good; busstops to the most important touristic attractions are nearby (only 5 minutes walk). The rooms are spacious and clean; the same can be said of the two bathrooms. However, the rooms are very noisy because they are located on the streetside. The breakfast is ok (what to be expected for the paid price). Is to be recommended

We called the number given on reservation from train station but got no answer. We waited in street with luggage after flagging a passerby to use cell phone to call different number on door. We asked for "private bath" but it turned out it was down the hall. Switched after 1 night. Paolo told us Vatican museum was closed one day, we went and it was open. We inquired about shuttle to airport, he told us it was 95 Euros. We inquired at hotel around the corner & got one for 45, door to door. Room was very nice and clean, location is great. Nuisance to have to pay in cash.

We went to Rome with my husband. The B&B is great, clean large rooms and is walking distance to the main train station as well as to town. We used tube only once in 5 days. The breakfast was a bit poor and we would appreciate more fresh produce. On the other side however we were hungry by lunch time and could enjoy the fantastic food of Rome.

We enjoyed very much our first tryp to Rome thanks to Casa di Iginia e Paolo. Near the center of the city, we walked every day, about ten minutes and...voilá! The Big Rome. Paolo`s (we met two guys with the same name)are very friendlys, breakfast was wonderful (gives you energy for all day!) but not like English breakfast. Very nice and spacious room, bathroom in good conditions...If you go to Rome for a few days and want a good place for not much money, take this!!!

This is a fairly good little hotel to use when staying in Rome. I used the bed and breakfast service provided but as I had an early start with a bus departing the nearby Termini at 7am, there was no chance to have breakfast. I was disappointed that the B&B did not leave me even a small packaged cornetto as they knew in advance that I would be leaving early, but I guess this is what can happen. But they were friendly and the rate was reasonable for Rome in mid-Summer.

Accommodation in Rome is fairly expensive. So if you're looking for something basic, centrally located, clean and budgeted, Casa di Iginia e Paolo is it. We stayed at this B&B for only 2 nights and we found it to be just fine. The room we had was a decent size, clean with big windows which looked out onto Via Romagna. The bathroom was shared and the shower stall was tiny of course which was common in most hotels in Italy. We were close to the Via Veneto area. We also took buses around, but we were within walking distance to nearby piazzas, the Spanish Steps, Trevi and Termini Station. Paolo the owner was a gentleman and an overall good guy. He recommended a restaurant called Fratelli la Bufala on Via Velletri which was about 7 minutes walk from the B&B. It was excellent! My boyfriend and I had dinner there one night we loved it. And my boyfriend is Italian and knows his food. This B&B is a good choice if you're on a budget and only need a place to sleep and shower.

This was our first B&B in Europe, unused to the proprietors not being on the premises at all times. Breakfast was packaged pastries and premade oj, nothing fresh so we ate out detracting from the value. The room was clean initially, but the trash was never emptied. Construction work in the courtyard of the building started at 7:30 each morning. The public area was a hallway. The location was great but if you are looking for charm and personal touches don't stay here.

the location of the stay was excellent, with the station being a 15 minute walk away. Paolo was a friendly host. However, the standard of cleanliness in the bathroom was poor; the bin was still full from the previous occupant, and the toilet still showed signs of use from the previous occupant - nice! The wardrobe was broken and the shower cubicle was very small. We both felt that 100 euros per night was expensive for the standard of accomodation on offer. If the bathroom was clean and the room better appointed then our response would have been more positive. This was the most basic B&B we have ever stayed in.

My wife and me stayed at Paolos for 3 nights and we were very lucky to have booked this accomodation. The rooms were spacious, clean and pretty new. At night there was some traffic noise on via romangna, but as the rooms are air conditioned , you can close the windows. The shared bathrooms were cleen, too. Breakfast was ok. Paolo was very nice and gave advice to everything concerning sightseeing, parking, etc. Via romangna is located very close to the famous villa borghese and not far from all the other sights (we walked everywhere). Otherwise there are bus stations everywhere round via romangna and the metro station "barberini" can be reached within a 10 minutes walk. We would come back here again to visit wonderful Rome!

Volveremos!!!

If you arrive by car, parking might become very expensive! Try to get one of the few free parking spaces in front of the bank at via boncompagni (best time 6:30 pm) and take the metro and/or the bus. Brekfast might become better with fresh bakery (bred, croissants) and more intense coffee.

This B&B is great!!! The location is superb, few blocks from the luxurious via Veneto and the Spanish steps. The surrounding is very good, with great access to major sites and very nice and secure.- Paolo is like Mario Bross, tipical Italian with great humour and kind!!! Rooms are big and tidy (they clean and change the sheets frecuently).- The breakfast is very good and the relation price-quality is excellent!!! The baths (shared) are allways clean and never had any problems, there are 2 complete WC for 5 rooms.- Never find a deal like this!!

The building and the common rooms (bathroom, kitchen)are rather old-looking but the bedrooms are fresh, spacious and clean. Four rooms are in front of the main street and are really noisy during the night (but with wax-boals in the ears, it's OK to sleep). Paolo is kind and discreet. The breakfast is standard (prepacked bread, marmelade, coffee,..). To visit Rome, this B&B is good located and the quality-price comparison is good.

Horrible Bed and Breakfast. Dirty, small rooms (not even a TV), showers so tiny that only anorexic people could fit comfortably. It's not a joke: a sligthly overweighted person or a pregnant woman cannot enter the shower. 100 euros for such a place is not acceptable, even in Rome. In fact, this Bed and Breakfast is probably not an official accomodation facility, but a private appartment that is used as a hotel. There is no sign that indicates that it is a B & B on the door. Not even on the bell. They just indicate the name of the owner. They don't give you any bill. You are requested to pay (cash of course, no credit card) upon arrival. I wonder whether this type of business is legal. I strongly urge the Italian tourist authorities to control this type of activity. I was fooled by the comments of former customers on this site. I wonder how the tolerance of some people is so high. Some even found the relationship quality/price to be good. This place is not better than a student's room. In fact, many students facilities I used in my youth were much better than this place. Just a word on breakfast: it was served in the kitchen of the appartment and consisted of coffee (yes, freshly brewed, but no other choice, among others: no decaf.)and pre-packed cookies. Period. Conclusion: get away from that place. Venere: this place should not be announced on your website. It does not reach the minimum standard.

We arrived quite late (after 10.30) and I had forgotten to call Paolo from the airport. We got to the building (quite easy to find) and rang the bell, but he wasn't there. I called his mobile and he arrived in two minutes on his moped. He was very welcoming and we were glad to be quite close to all the sights. We were only there for one night, but the traffic outside was very noisy at the front of the building and we had our windows closed and shuttered. Ask for an inside room when booking. Breakfast was okay - we had been tempted to book by promises of great coffee, but it wasn't that great and so with that and the noise we were a little disappointed. However - Paolo was great - the rooms are very spacious, there's certainly more than one shower-room for everyone to share and it is convenient for Termini (15-20 minute walk) and the Spanish steps. Further than that and it's a bit of a trek. It was also great to stay in Rome without paying lots and lots. We were travelling on from Termini to Naples the next day and were so glad to stay in the city. Book this place if you don't need a swanky hotel. Thanks Paolo.

Paolo was great. He porvided us with a lot of information about Rome. He always pulled out a map to keep us from getting lost. He even gave us his cell phone number and said that it was always on. The room was the largest that we encountered on our trip. The only downside is that it is on the second floor (third in the US) of a building with an unmarked door and no lift. This was a wonderful place to stay especially considering the price.

Great location. It's a huge flat with 6 or 7 differet sizes bedrooms so don't expect it to be a hotel, this flat is in a residential building. Paolo is a fantastic and welcoming guy, very helpful. Our room had a shower included, tiny, but did the job. If you're looking to stay in a well located, not expensive place and you don't mind about room decor or shower size then this is definitely the place for you.

About a 20 minute walk from the central train station. Very clean. Nice size room. Breakfast was disappointing, but the coffee was good. Can recommend the nearby Lampera restaraunt.

Paolo does make the best coffee. My only suggestion would be that the place had a phone. But there are some several blocks in different directions away. It was a short walk to the Spanish Steps and Villa Borghese and even Termini Stazione. About 10-15 minutes tops to each place.

Paolo was very kind to us. He was even waiting for us in front of the house. We could explore many sights in Rome by footwalk.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our hosts were excellent very helpfull and kind. This is budget accommodation therefor the accommodation was more basic. Taking this in to account,we found the quality of accommodation to price excellent and always clean neat and tidy. The continental breakfast was timely, plentifull and very good

My father and I were really pleased to find such a nice place and specially we loved the kindness and amability of Pier Paolo , the owner of the hostel , who gave us all types of information , and Ana , who helped him with the services , and was really kind too. It really helped us to have a lovely stay in Rome !!!

My husband and I spent 8 days in Rome. This B&B is well located with good connections on bus and on walking. Trinitá dei Monti (Spanish Steps) is 10 minutes walking, Via Veneto and Piazza dei Tritone is 15 min. walking and Termini is 10 min. walking. Paolo was very welcoming and helpful. The place was confortable in spite of the noisy street for the traffic, but this happens in all Rome. No air conditioned but there was a ceiling fan that I liked so much. There is a lot of information on a desk that you can take a look to. Next to the B&B there is a Trattoria called "Il Golfo" whose owner Carmine was also very welcoming and kind. It opens until late at night so you can have dinner out of the city centre in a quiet place, good food.We hope you have as much fun as we. Thank you Paolo.

To sum up this stay, I arrived later than planned, happened to arrive literally just as Italy won the Semi-Final of the World Cup 2006. Paolo was there to greet me even as the rest of the country was celebrating! The stay was great. Clean and, by far, the most spacious stay I have ever, ever had in any European country. As I was on vacation, I never got up early enough for breakfast but I heard great things about it from the other guests. The bathrooms were steps away from the rooms and clean as can be. The only small issue is that when you arrive, it's easier to enter the area via Via Veneto than the 360 bus. Do a metro search for directions rather than using the online ones. Overall, a great, great stay!!

Paolo was very welcoming the day we arrived, eventhough we arrived several hours prior to check-in time. The room was comfortable and clean. I would recommend the Casa di Iginia e Paolo to anyone who is traveling to Rome and will plan to stay there again if we return.

We can highly recommend "Casa di Iginia e Paolo", as we had a very nice stay there. The rooms and also the bathrooms are very clean and the location is perfect, as the B&B is not far from the railway station and many of the tourist attractions. We are very happy that we found Bed & Breakfast Casa di Iginia e Paolo on venere.com and next time we're going to Rome, we will definitely stay there again.

I would recommend the casa to all my friends and I would like to come back some time in the future, if possible. The casa itself was friendly, very clean, and, considering the location, i.e. virtually in the middle of Rome, it was excellent value for money. Karin

Paolo was a real gentleman who made our stay very pleasant. The place was immaculate and we were always asked what time we would like breakfast....he really liked to please. Anna, the cleaner left everything sparkling clean. We would most definitely recommend this place to all.

Globalmente buona sistemazione.

The rooms were very clean and Paolo is a nice and very helpful guy. The rooms towards the street are unfortunately a bit noisy, but apart from that the price/quality relationship is excellent.

We were very satisfied with Casa Iginia e Paolo. Top location - walking distance to all major sites. The room was very spacious, everything was very clean, even the breakfast was fine - good orange juice, coffee or tea and all you can eat of sweet rolls, soft bread, and toppings. Paolo was a very gracious host and the other guests were also friendly. The only drawback was the traffic noise, but that's probably only avoidable in Rome when you pay for a five star hotel!
