The only real drawback is the fact that the front desk is not manned 24 hours a day. I had to call and wait 10 minutes upon arrival. That said, the staff was very nice and helpful, and the location is convenient: within walking distance to Termini and right on top of the metro stop. A very good value.

This was a nice bread and breakfast. It is located on the 5th floor of an apartment type building, which gave it more of a local feel .It was right on a subway stop, and walking distance to Termini, and the Colosseum. The room was fairly spacious. The breakfast was juice, coffee, and cakes or breads.

Nice and simple B&B, not too many decoration, but just as comfortable as home! Located in a quiet street, around 10 minutes from Termini Station, it's a good choice for those backpacker with budget. I'll go back again!

Good location in well maintained building, the room is quite large, table with four chairs, a large wardrobe with door curtains, a bed is small, warm and very quiet during our stay, not a luxury rather simple, common part is very pleasant as a night club, coffee milk tea anytime. supermarkets is outside the cathedral, the neighborhood is predominantly Chinese and Indians. 10 minutes walk to Termini.

Sal and Lisa treated us as family. On the day of our check-out, there was no pressure to leave. Sal asked us if we had seen the largest food market in Rome. We said "No" so he walked us to the location! He also offered to help us with our bags to the train station! I would HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone! Rooms were clean, coffee, fruits and cakes we there for us to enjoy 24 hours a day. Close to the Termini also. Walking distance.

We enoyed staying here. Rome is a beautiful city and this place had definatly added credit to it as well. Sal was friendly and helpful. It was my friend's birthday a few days before we went to Rome, Sal gave us a bottle of wine as bday gift, which was a great surprise. The location was excellent, Line A metro is right beside the B&B and the train station is just a few steps away. We walked everywhere while we were in Rome and all famouse scenic places are within 30 mins walking destince from the B&B. We had a great time in Rome and staying here.

It`s a very good place to stay in Roma. It´s only 20 minutes walking to the Fontana di Trevi an 15 min to the Colisseo. At the door of the B&B you have also the metro that it´s perfect to go to The Vaticano. I stayed there like if i was at home, the only inconvenient, but not for me, it was the toilet, it was outside the room but just beside and it was private. I´ll recommend it. Quality-price is unbeatable.

The best way to describe this B&B is that it's like staying at a friends flat. It is located in a old and not well maintained building. The B&B is on the 5th floor. The place is really cozy, perfect location. Mattia and Marco, the guys who run the place are very friendly. For the budget is an clean, simple and friendly place to stay in Rome. I will stay there again.

First time stay and I would go again but have a double room / bed rather than a single. The bathroom (next door) smelled damp/musty and wasnt very nice. Clean tho and the shower was fine BUT needed great care adjusting it. I have seen other comments about going hot and colod but if you got it absolutely spot on it was OK! Very small shower cubicle. Breakfast coffee was great, cakes less so. Would have liked a fresh roll rather than in a packet, and if bread is provided for toast - which it was, there bneeds to be butter too which there wasnt. For the price, fine.

It is a good place to stay, quiet, friendly and without problems. It offers the necesary comfort, but without luxury. It is well located, close to public transportation and at a walking distance from all what is to be seen in old Rome (assuming that you do not dislike walking). Important tip: If you are arriving in Rome from Fumicino, it is fantastic to leave the Termini Station without need to walk all the way up to Piazza de la Republica. Just take the side exit (downstairs to the left)and you will find Carlo Alberto House three blocks far from there.

Great stay, although warm (June 2010) rooms do not have air conditioning, they do have a moveable unit but it blows hot air from the back. Location is fabulous 10 min walk to Colosseum. entrance to Metro is right outside the building's front door. be fore warned, elevator is tiny as well as the showers but you know for the price and time spared with location and price, this was a great place, I would and will stay here again just in the cooler months! :)

Tha advantage of this B&B is its location. the train station is very closed, so you can go by walking from the station to the B&b very quickly. Moreover, you can go by walking very easily to the main sites to visit and the subway station to go to the Vatican is just in front of the flat. Concerning the services provided, Antoniella, the owner of the B&B, is very kind and do her best to satisfy you. The breakfast is sufficient (bread, cakes, cereal, coffee, tea, milk, fruit juice ). So, I recommend this place

The staff was extremely helpful. The location was very good. Be alert on the metro and buses for pick pockets. The crowds at the main attractions (in October) were incredible. Reservations are a must for many places.I wish that we had used more taxis instead of public transportation which can be extremely crowded at rush hours.

We arrived at 1800 to CLOSED DOORS. No one was there, and by LUCK we managed to contact the owners who were at home. For the entire duartion (3 nights) the room wasn't cleaned and garbage was not taken out. No towel change. We had to call the owner to come and TAKE the money. The price was cheap, but thats all. We don't recommend. Elevator for 1 person with small suitecase.

This place was perfect for us, NOT the typical B&B type atmosphere. Is located in a highrise building on a busy street - metro stop is literally at the entrance to the building! On our day of departure we actually walked to the train station rather than taking the metro one stop - close & easy peasy! Easy walk up to unit, lots of privacy but if you are looking for a chatty, cosy B&B experience this is not it. For us (late 30s couple, no kids) we were happy to keep to ourselves and come and go as we pleased. Breakfast was fresh and timely. We walked all over Rome from this location, only taking the metro once to stay out of the rain. Not much in the immediate (5 min walk) area other than metro & train station but you are in Rome walking everywhere anyway so who cares?! I'd definitely stay there again. Just be prepared upon your arrival that you may feel as though you aren't in the right spot, as I said not a typical B&B. NO PARKING, none, not even a bit (but I think this is the case Rome-wide).

Traveled with wife and two children (5 & 3 yo). The main attraction in Rome, the Colosseo, is within walking distant or three stops (one change of trains - no extra cost) on the metro train, which is right outside the door of the B&B.

Minus - surrounding area has many pushers in the street, and look a bit dangerous at night if you are alone, otherwise is ok quite. - seem to be area with many foerign shops fx. many chinese, you might not feel like Rome - keys to room/ elevator, front door, apt. door, sometimes one of them is not working, don't know why. - Breakfast, not expect any fresh bread, everything is basic food from supermarket. Plus - Room is spacious, with privat bath - Owner is really nice, friendly, and really helpful with information. - For a price of 65 Eur a night, it is one of the cheapest guesthouse with privat bath in central Rome. - Just a door step to entrance to metro, or it is a walking distace to Termini. - We can actually walk to Colossium from hotel, also close to Maria Manjana church and some other tourist place.

We stayed 22/oct/08 for one night. First time at Carlo Alberto House. The details were great and made it easy to get to. The place is actually quite closer than suggested in the map and is virtually 3 doors down from the Via Carlo Alberto exit from Vittorio Emmanuel Metro stop. The only thing that soured this was the long wait for the keys to get in as they are not at the B&B (20mins-30mins), but to be fair we also had problems with our phone and coming from Ciampino we were not sure of the time it would take to get there. Once inside we were given maps and ideas of where to go. It's about 15-20 mins from Colosseo by walk down the main road. Area didn't feel threatening even though its close to Termini it doesn't feel like it. A concern was the traffic noise. It wasn't a big deal for me and to me, as soon as you closed the window the noise was gone. There was a tv, fridge and bathroom in our room and no noise from other guests could be heard. Bed sheets where a bit itchy. Location was ideal for us, rooms were spacious and wish i had stayed there for a few more nights. Some advice i would give is also going to this place is that it cost 2.50euro. 1.20 for the bus to Anagnina Metro and 1 euro from Anagnina to Vittorio Emmanuel

The ring at the door was broken and we were stayed at the door for an hour while somebody help us to find the door without any doorplates. The furniture in room was very old but there were fridge, TV, stove and many other useful things. I think it's a good place for a people who don't care of QUIETNESS of room. Also it has a good location with 5 meters from metro. 7/10.

Stayed for 5 days.Very spacious room situated to streetside, with closed window no traffic noise.Very small elevator, but working well. It's extremely usefull to get your luggage to the 4th (or 5th?) floor. Strange: we never met the owners (forgot their names),so almost none comunication, but this wasn't a problem. Poor breakfast, you got to get up early to catch some coffee package. Overall a good option to stay, secure, near to Termini. Not being footsick you can reach all tourist sites by walking, even Vatikan and Trevestere. No aircondition but fan on the ceiling we never used for not being to hot at that time. We would stay there again. Thanks for our good time in your home!

It was in a great location, and we were on the top floor so were able to keep open the big window with an adjoining balcony to stand on. the bed was amazingly comfortable, the room was very clean and we had our own kitchenette in our room. however the stove didnt work and the shower is actually the bathroom so having a shower was a little strange as everything got wet including the toilet, so you had to dry everything after. other than that i would definately stay there again, its very cute and cosy.

Perfect to visit Rome: near the main station, not so far from the Coliseum by foot, in front of a metro station (only used 1 time to go to the musei vaticani) a bit far from the "middle age center" of the city (Piazza Navona) but not really a problem. not a quiet street but you dont hear the street anymore with the widow shut. late arrival but nice welcome

Carlo Alberto House was a fine place to stay. Not wonderful, not great, but fine. Our bedroom door was glass covered with blackout film, so any noise made at the breakfast bar one step outside our room was very loud. Also, the same two or three women shouted at each other across the building's courtyard literally all day long. Aside from the noise factor, however, things were very nice. Ensuite bathroom was spacious, breakfast was delicious, decor was fine (if quirky), room was large and nice.

Doporučila bych lidem, kteří počítají s tím, že stráví většinu času venku.Já i moje kamarádky jsme byly velice spokojené - hlavně polohou ubytování.

The place is a great place to stay. When you step outside the B&B you are a couple steps froms the Metro. When you are looking for the B&B look for the Metro stop on the street and then look at the names on the Apartment building right behind it. It was kinda hard to find if you didn't know that. The service was great and it was very quiet. The shower was very tiny. You did need to let the water run a couple minutes to get hot water but it wasn't a big deal. If we go to Rome again, we will be staying here again. I will also recommend this place to my friends. Thanks!

We enjoyed the stay at this house from the check-in to the check-out. The house is near to the termini, so you can get with bus or metro to every part of the city. The Metro-station in front of the house was also very practically. The typical italian breakfast was always prepared and we had to made it ourselves individually without service. This was also ok, because we could do it when and however we want it.

Carlo alberto house is a very nice place: it's clean, well-kept and close to everything you want to see in roma (walking, it takes something like 15 min from the colosseo and 45 from san pietro). when you reach the b&b, they give you the keys of the apartment and let you absolutely free! the breakfast is abundant, not with fresh or home-made foods but with many kind of brioches, corn flakes, milk, tea, coffee, bread, marmelade and so on. you're free to have your breakfast in your room and until midday. our room was more spacious than we thought, looking at the pictures on the web! another nice surprise was the bidet: if you're worried 'cause you can't see it in the photograph, don't care for it! the bidet is IN the wc! so i suggest: if you want a good place where to stay in roma and you're not looking for something luxurious, choose carlo alberto house!

There was no hot water, and the breakfast was little cakes out of a box and cerael-nothing hot. The apartment was noisy at night and in the morning, so we left and went to Hotel D'este down teh street for the same price -55 euros a night for two. The location was very good-the metro was less than 20 steps from the apartment building's door, and teh metro left you pretty much everywhere you would like to go: termini, spanish steps, vatican, and connects you to the B line which takes you to the Trevi Fountain and Colosseum. I DO NOT recommend this B&B, you will have a much more comfortable stay in a hotel like hotel d'este for the same price.

We had a great stay in Carlo Alberto House. The place itself was good: we were warmly welcomed, the room was fine and the hotel was ideally situated. The underground is one minute away, and Termini train station, from where most buses go, only 5 minutes away. Plus, the price is relatively cheap compared to other places in Rome. We warmly recommend Carlo Alberto House and will definitely choose it again when we go back to Rome.

The stay at Carlo Alberto House was excellent. Whoever goes to travel to Rome and wants a nice, cheap room should go there. The service is excellent, especially the girl was really nice. The building looks really ruined from the outside, but the rooms are really well kept from the inside (just like many buildings in rome). If you decide to go to the Carlo Alberto House you will have a time of your life. Not only because of the house itself, but because Rome is just an amazing city by itself. It was truly an amazing time i spent there and i would go back any minute of the day if i had a chance. Just remember one thing if you go to Rome, get the ice cream. I mean the Gelatos are unbelievable and that is definitely what you will remember. The best Gelatos that i have tasted were right by the Carlo Alberto House and the place is called Fasci. And the second one, which is my favourite one, is right across form the vatican. You cant miss it. Enjoy and have fun.

Nice welcome, comfortable room in a nice neighborhood. The employee was very sympathic, giving us advice on travels means, place to visit, ... we had the keys of the building and of the appartment, which is a very good solution : no problem of organisation, shedule to respect, ... Only 2 small problems : - one day, their was quiet nothing to eat in the fridge for breakfast - the shower box shall be repaired Except this, our stay was very good. we liked the concept of the bed & breakfast and I would give this adress to anyone who wants to visit Rome.

Was a good and a nice place to be. The only problem: the place is not signed in any way, it was very hard to find it, especially at night and without a cell-phone (the taxi-driver helped us, alone we would not resolve the problem).

A great stay - very good value. Highly recommended if you're looking for a base within easy walk of the main station, the Colosseum and major attractions. If you're looking for a luxury hotel with 5* facilities, this is not for you. But if you're wanting a cheap en-suite room which is clean spacious and well presented, Carlo Alberto House is ideal. We would definitely stay there again.

We had no problem at all to find the Carlo Alberto house and the welcoming was very warm (we had to climb 4 flights of stairs and when we finally entered the B&B, we immediately got a cold drink). The staff was very friendly and the English they spoke was faultless. The room was large and there was a little AC device which came in very handy. The shower was a little small, but it sufficed. Breakfast was adequate, though still very much Italian. We had to pay in cash when we arrived, but in return they trust you with the keys of the appartment. Even when we left the last day, we could leave our luggage in the B&B and take the keys with us into town. The only drawback are the surroundings. At night, it didn't really feel comfortable, but it was O.K. If you ever need a budget B&B in the centre of Rome, then Carlo Alberto House is where you have to be. We would certainly stay there again.

Very good price / quality ratio. I would recommend it to everyone, who visits Rome on a budget. The room even had a watercooled fan, and a refrigirator, the bathroom had a washing machine (didn't use it though).

Ventilatore e deumidificatore in camera. Aspetti negativi: La stanza viene pulita 1 volta ogni 7 gg.

Location: After days of research we chose Carlo Alberto house ..at first I was sceptical about the location- as most budget accommodation seemed to be around the Termini area. However we couldn’t have chosen better as the location is just perfect – sort of 15 from the Colosseum and Roman Forum and 5 min from the rest of the ancient city. I was also concerned about booking online-and not having direct contact with the owners- but there were no dramas there. Getting there : If you aren’t carrying too much you can walk there from the Termini. Take the Giolitti Exit cross the road walk straight down to the Park – take a right and a left –this should bring you the head of the road. The building is across from an Italian Restaurant and besides a subway exit. One of the contact numbers is a mobile ..so drop the country code to call. Simone who stays there now is really nice and gave us a map and marked where the major sites are. Price: A private room and bathroom, with a TV, Fridge, dinning table and double bed and plenty of breakfast …..you’d be lucky to get a deal like this anywhere else in Rome. We stayed there in July 2005 with a ceiling fan and an air cooler- so the room was not hot. It’s an old building with plenty of character and a lift to match – a no frills down-to-earth room which is wonderfully relaxing to come home to after walking your feet off in Rome.

The hotel has the best breakfast on our journey, the location is convenient if you want to take Metro, however, Rome's metro system is the worse symtem we have never had, you have to know whick bus you can take to get arround. We had never be able to find a bus map, end up we had to walk home. Hotel has no aircondition, so they provided a cooler fan. The bed has a very soft mattres, (it is not a real mattres). The nights were so hot and couldn't sleep with that soft mattress. May be it can be replaced with a hard one, so it will help to reduce the heat. The price is fair given the condition we had.

From the first moment I arrived at the Carlo Alberto House I was let down. The nieghborhood was passable and close to the Metro but there was nobody there to check us in when we arrived. So we had to find a phone and get somebody there. Then they ripped me off. I was quoted a price of 65euros a night for four people. I showed up with five people and they charged us 100euros a night. We took the same room as we would have with four people and they didn't even provide us with an extra bed for the extra money. I agree that 100 euros for five people is still cheap but so is this place. I am by no means picky but this was a hoax. First of all this is not a house, it is an apartment that rents rooms. I would never stay at this establishment again it is not worth the disrespect of being cheated. The only nice part about the place was the caretaker Claira (I think). She was helpful and seemed troubled when the owner gave her the order to rip us off.

We loved this place. From the moment we got in untill we left. Highly recommend this place. For the money it's a five star hotel to us. When in Rome stay here. But is you what to pay three or four times as much then go ahead. But what a deal and value. They mad us feel like part of the family. The location was fifteen steps from the subway entrance. GREAT DEAL!

The staff were very welcoming and courteous. They also provided a map of Rome and were helpful with our questions. We were a little disappointed with the room in that it didn't exactly portray the photo on the website -- that said, it was very clean. The surrounding neighbourhood at night looked very undesirable (by day it was ok). It didn't look like a good neighbourhood, but we were kind of stuck in that we had booked for three nights and didn't have a long stay in Rome, so we made a decision not to spend what little time we had looking for alternate accomodation. Had we had a longer stay, we would not have stayed in the neighbourhood, and would have gone elsewhere. The neighbourhood was a turn-off so we did all of exploring and dining in other parts of the city and only returned to Carlo Alberto House in the late evening -- and that worked well for us.

We found Carlo Alberto House to be a comfortable, freindly and clean place to stay at. The location is very central and in walking distance from most places, though being so close to the Termini station means it is not so ellegant. Antonella and Fabio were very hospitable and willing to help. Breakfast included pastry, rolls, cheese, eggs, cornflakes and coffee. We made it ourselves when it suited us. We recomend Carlo Alberto House as a place you get good value for the price paid.

Very good stay and very friendly atmosphere. Location of the house is perfect - close both to Termini and the metro station. Breakfest services are over the expectation - much more than regular continental standard and original italian coffe from traditional coffe-maker - great idea. I reccomend this place. The only problem is with the poor acoustic insulation of the room door - it could be ambarrasing for people at both sides.

Pay attention the following facts: -it is not a real hotel, Carlo Alberto House is a flat on the 4th floor of a house -it is in the downtown (even more in the Chinese Town) -it is next to one station of underground line A or B (I don't know whether A or B) -the rooms are small, the furniture is mixed -the rooms are clean (there was cleaning, towel and bed line replacement during the five-days stay of my parents) -the owners are very friendly and helpful -the breakfast was moderate, but every guest could use the well-equipped kitchen -it is very cheap compared to the other hotel in the downtown and it is close to a lot of sights -the elevator is very small -not every room makes an ensuite. I think that all the rooms have an own bathroom but some bathroom can be reached only from the corridor. I can recommend Carlo Alberto House. I hope, I can test this hotel with my girlfriend next year.
