This apartement is a really good option, if you are looking for a well priced stay near the center. It's 10 min walk to the Vatican and the metro station is not even 5 min walking. There is a nice restaurant and a supermarket 2 min away. The center is a bit further, but still within walking distance. We had a warm welcome from hostess Federyca and she was very hepful. Not unimportant, the apartment was clean and tidy and there were towels and bed sheets in the room. The only thing we missed was a place to sit outside, but on the other hand, it was no problem because we only had breakfast in our room and the rest of the day we were outside. There is a kitchen and a table, so it is possible to cook and eat in the apartment. Definitely a comfortable, well priced apartment, not in the middle of the center, but still a good location, if you want to see Rome in a few days!

It was a quiet place near the Vatican. There is a busstop and the metrro within a few minutes. Frederica is a very friendly person, with a warm welcome. The breakfast is typical italian; we bought our own bread and cheese in the nearby supermarket (dutch breakfast). We would like to come back!

The appartment was small but clean. Federica was very nice, welcoming and punctual. Arranged for transport to airport (given the prices of train fare from Fiumicino to Rome Termini, this might be an interesting option) Excellent base for Rome Sight seeing, 10 minutes from Metro station. The only issue we had was the humidity in the appartment. This might have been due to the time of year(october)

Frederica was very pleasant and tried to be helpful when we first arrived. Her main way of communicating with you is by phone but we were unable to charge our phone because our adapter did not work. We were unable to find another adopter for three days due to the shops being closed on Easter weekend. Most hotels/pensioni have converters or able to tell you where to find one. We had no way of communciating with anyone for that period of time. There was no internet connection that I am aware of. The room was not serviced daily and the bathrooms did not appear very clean. The location was great, breakfast was very good, space was great. Stairs leading to the apartment very tight, difficult to carry up luggage. I would not classify this as a bed and breakfast but more like an apartment. Bed & Breakfasts typically have staff present and offer services.

Grazie a Federica per la disponibilità, secondo noi un'ottima sistemazione a Roma, vicino al centro ma in zona tranquilla e con tanti servizi nelle vicinanze.

We took a Ryanair flight from Luton and within two hours were in Rome. We caught the terravision from the airport to the termini then the Metro to Cipro which was only a couple of minutes walk from the apartment. We found travelling in Rome extremely easy.Il Borgo al Vaticano is only a short walk from the Vatican, and with its close proximity to the Metro and numerous bus stops, is ideally situated. Leading to the apartment were steps, but not many. The apartment was like a spacious bedsit and was very clean (including toilet and shower) with no bugs! My son (aged 14) and daughter (aged 11) shared a very big bed settee and slept very well. They did insist, however, on using the bolster cushion to separate themselves! Same son thought the whole concept of the bidet in the bathroom hilarious! Frederica left the fridge well stocked and the continental breakfast lasted us the whole time we were there. One day we walked so far and got drenched in the rain, that by the time we got home (well that's what the apartment felt to us after a while), we were too tired to eat out. We were able to walk a few minutes down the road and brought back take-away Pizzas which were very different to the ones we get in England. These went down well with the cheap bottle of wine we bought from the local shop! The restaurants along the road were good and so was the ice cream parlour! One of the really good things about Il Borgo al Vaticano was that it was hidden behind a gate and surrounded by apartments occupied by Italians. In the immediate vicinity of the apartment we never came across other tourists which was a real bonus! It made us feel as if we were experiencing Rome as a local and not as a tourist. We only met Frederica the once, when we arrived. She pointed out where she lived, which was in the next building and told us to see her if we needed anything. After going on a bit, to sum up our visit - Fantastico - we can't wait to return!

As tourists all we needed was a clean place to rest/sleep at the end of a sight-seeing day. What we experienced at Il Borgo al Vaticano was bugs in the kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom was dirty and the floor throughout were dirty. Sheets had stains. For the price I would have expected much more since it was cash up front. Next time I will pay more for a hotel room.

We stayed here during a weekend break to Rome in January and loved it. We were travelling with our two children aged 7 and 9. Borgo al Vaticano is a well maintained, comfortable and spacious studio apartment rather than a B&B. The delightful owner, Federica, provided a selection of provisions for breakfast and there’s a supermarket nearby if you need anything else. Federica kindly arranged a taxi for us from Campino airport as we arrived late in the evening. The apartment has a degree of charm and homeliness that you couldn’t ever get staying at a hotel, and that’s why we liked it so much. The nearby La Fornace restaurant offers great tasting, excellent value food and a similarly charming experience. We loved both.

This is a little tiny HOUSE not an apartment. It looked like someone had built over an old porch. Because it was seperate from any other building it was very quite and nice. The house was about 20 steps from the wall of the vatican and a 4 block walk to the nearest metro stop. The kitchen had a small fridge a range and a sink. There was no breakfast. When we arrived there was a basket of packaged sweets and milk in the fridge and coffee on a shelf. Be prepared to buy your own ´real´breakfast. The beds were very soft and comfy with great pillows. The only really bad thing about Il Borgo was the bathroom. The shower curtain had mold growing on it and there was a big wad of mildew/mold in the corner. Basically, the whole place could use a good professional cleaning. Overall, we had a lovely stay and were able to overlook the grime for the great prices and fabulous location.

Rome is beautiful, the location well suited to explore the city, Federica is friendly and overall we enjoyed our stay very much! But there are two things we didn't appreciate at all: Without any explanation by Federica we had to stay at the "Veranda al Vaticano", not the "Borgo al Vaticano". The Veranda is just a few minutes away from Borgo in a quite street. The point is, that this appartment isn't described on Venere.com at all. If you make a booking, be sure where you will stay! The veranda is quiet a lovely place with, surprise!, a veranda on the roof, which must be great in spring or summer! It seems to be smaller then the Borgo and has one big problem: In the bathroom we found a lot of mold, especially in the showercubicle. I guess, nobody likes mold, so, I hope that Federica will take care of the problem in the future. Make sure to ask her about it before you confirm your booking!

Federica was very welcoming and friendly. She made us feel as if we were old friends and took care of all of our needs. She went over and beyond of what I had expected. The apartment was very convenient to the Vatican and Federica even gave us some inside tips that really made a difference to our stay especially since we went to Rome at the height of summer (July). I do not think anyone would be disappointed if they choose to stay with her but bear in mind that there are steps that they would need to climb. Thanks so much for making our holiday a memorable one!

We stayed at Il borgo al Vaticano with our three children for a week during half-term. It is small but situated in a part of Rome which allowed us to easily visit all the places that we wished too. It is really a studio apartment in a block of apartments where Italian families live and is therefore a busy city area with the facilities that you would expect of same. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed but it is small for a family of five. The family were very welcoming indeed and helpful when we had questions. The owner spoke good English which helped us a lot with the little Italian we knew. The apartment has reasonable cooking facilities and so you can cook basic meals if you get fed up eating out! Good and reasonably well priced supermarket near by and some of the local reasturants offer good service and reasonable prices - we found the prices of the resturants close to the Vatican expensive. Rome is a wonderful City and we had a great time there. Will most certaintly return again and would be happy to stay at this apartment once again. One difficulty for us was the difficulty with disabled access, there are a lot of stairs and pavements around the area of Rome - indeed most of Rome - were not made for wheelchair users! Access to the tube is impossible but local buses do have access which is reasonable, however we found Romans not always sympathic to our chid's needs! The apartment however did allow us much more freedom than a hotel and we enjoyed that. Would recommend it to others - infact have done already - but probably some families of five might find the space a wee bit restricted! Enjoy your holiday.

Location handy to Vatican, bus, train, grocery store, restaurants (Don't miss La Fornace at Via Angelo Emo 75 just down the street.) Breakfast was not as advertised. Reserved three nights with breakfast. A basket of cookies and bread and fridge with juice was there day one. Don't count on breakfast.

We had a great stay while in Rome. Federica was very sweet and was always available to help us. She made sure to remind us of the change in time and to put our clocks ahead one hour as we were leaving the next morning for the airport. We were well stocked in our room for breakfast and enjoyed being able to eat at our leasure. The only negative was the fact that we had to walk up a lot of steps to the apartment. It was at a different location from her other B&B's, but we left in the morning and most days did not return until the evening. I would definitely recommned this B&B.

Our stay at Il Borgo al Vaticano was perfect in every way. The location was convenient and quiet. The apartment was comfortable and very clean. Our hostess went out of her way to make us feel welcome. We would recommend this fully equiped apartment as a very inexpensive and practical alternative to a hotel.

This was our family's first trip to Rome. It was AMAZING! Our entire family loved the Il Borgo Vaticano. Frederica at the Il Borgo Vaticano was fantastic!! She was very sweet, spoke very good english, and was very helpful. She took the time to sit down with us and explain where all the main sites were, marked them down on a map, showed us how to get to them, and what the cabs SHOULD cost to get there. She also gave us an idea of which order we should go see it all in. We only had 3 days in Rome, and got to see most everything, thanks to her help. The room was beautiful, the kitchen well stocked with a very italian cuisine for breakfast. It was great because there were items in the kitchen that I would not have tried without them being there, and on our way out of the country we stopped at the Supermercate and purchsed more for the trip home! The location is amazing. We were able to walk to see the Vatican, the Basillica, and all the surrounding sites. The colosseum and the forum area required a cab ride, but the cost was minimal. If I ever return to Rome again, (which I plan to do someday) I definitely would stay at the Il Borgo again. The only thing that I would suggest for people who are considering this property, is that you should keep in mind that this is a Bed and Breakfast in Italy, and it is very italian. In regards to the breakfasts, again, the kitchen is stocked with italian style breakfast items, which usually consist of bread, cookies, and danishes. (The italians usually don't eat eggs, waffles, etc for breakfast.) If you are looking for that type of breakfast, either plan to shop on your own, or stay in a more "american" style hotel, because even the local restaurants won't serve that type of breakfast either. If you are looking for a place with a more "american" flare, this is not the place for you. If you want to really see Italy, and all that Italy really is... stay at the Il Borgo Vaticano. I assure you, you will enjoy

This is a really fantastic deal ....... for the same price that others charge for a room in someone's apartment, this "Borgo al Vaticano" provides a self-contained studio flat. Spacious, comfortable, everything one could need, and the location is extremely convenient for almost anything central. Excellent trattoria just 30 yards away that became our "canteen" for the duration .... great welcome ... just like our own home. I'd go back again .... as long as YOU haven't booked it first!

The apartment had not very well equipped kitchen, it had uncomfortable beds ( very soft mattresses ), the bathroom is very small and not very cleaned and all day and night rumbled the furnace, so we had to turn it off for nights and then in the morning there was cold and we did not have any warm water. For the price I was expecting also better breakfast offer and not in the check-in time to get just toast bread, marmelade, Butter, milk, one bottle of water and some biscuits and candys for all stay for two adults.
