I had a great stay at Ares Rooms!!! The employees were very friendly and always available for questions or if you needed any help! The location is excellent and very close to the metro station Cavour. Walking to the Colosseo (15 min), Termini (10 min), Santa Maria Maggiore (5 min), is very easy. Only the breakfast is not very extensive and very sweet (but good).

Travelling with a boyfriend, double room. Going outside the B&B to reach the bar for breakfast it was not so pleasant, even if pastries and service were excellent. The toilette water pump keeps on running all night long and that's very annoying... Still, the price they charge is very low...

Owner Ottavio will try to shake you down for cash (elevator lift has "Mr. Cash" inscribed on the inside to give you and idea). Even if you book with a credit card, he will "bug you" every day for cash - annoying person but nice guy. Gay friendly BUT NOT A GAY hotel - they take anyone as long as they have money, little to cater to Gay clientèle here...not worth it. Street they are on is hard to find, even for a licensed Rome cab driver (mine from airport). They will give your room away even with a confirmation, so phone a few days before to confirm, since this is what they did to me...then send you to another location (2 days in my case) and then back to them (5 days in may case)...really "bush league" place to stay - cheap but YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...also no air conditioning, you will wilt in Rome summer temperatures of 35-40 deg C! Also, the want your room key when you leave "hotel" and give it back upon returning...weird. Randy, afternoon night shift manager is very nice as is other guy, forgot his name. Suite 6 is their best w/private bathroom but they have plumbing problems...find out for yourselves...

It is briliant, the location is great and not far a way from the central station. The day staff are great, they helped me a lot to find the sites I was interested to visit, and they advice me how to get the cheapest tickets to all sites. The hotel is surrounded by many restaurants and cafees and internet shopes. It would be nicer if the hotel can provide its teneants with internet service as well as T.Vs. I would recomand this hotel and if I would like to visit rome again, I will stay in the same hotel.

This was our second visit to Rome. Our hosts at the hotel were delightful, however for the money we did not get much in the way of service. The room was not really that private and we had to walk through the foyer to go to the toilet and bathroom. At night the security bell woke us up as well as the porter. The room was certainly clean enough and was made up on a daily basis. The hotel was about 10-25 minutes from the railway station and had some excellent cheap restaurants nearby.

We stayed here for five nights and by the end of the trip, we had made many jokes about the five flights of stairs. The room was really good, there was no TV, but that didn't bother us. It was a great base for seeing the sights and the guy who works there was as helpful as we had read on this website. The only caution is, if you are seriously against cigarette smoke - the night watchman smokes all through the night and the smell of smoke was really strong in our room. We are both non-smokers, but we were OK with it. There is a fantastic restaurant near here. Turn right when you exit the building, don't go to the restaurant on the corner at the end of the street, take a left and go to the first restaurant on the left. I can't remember the full name, but the first word was 'Nipoti' or something similar. The food was awesome!

Flavio was extremely friendly and helpful (recommending restaraunts, arraging taxis). Hotel is a comfortable walk to all major tourist sights and very close to underground station. And 2min walk from Santa Maggiore Church where various "hop-on-hop-off" tourist busses stop. Would suggest a taxi from airport for first timers, since the Hotel might be a bit difficult to find (located in a small side street, no sign indicating HOTEL, just number on building).

We stayed two nights here and were not too thrilled with the noise coming from the office. The night watchman had the tv on all the time and we could hear it! The rooms near the entry area are too close to the comings and goings and consequently, bring earplugs or ask for a room farther down the hall. Flavio was very welcoming and helpful with information about nearby restaurants and parking info. Best thing about this place was the central location.

Aries Rooms is located on the 5th floor on a small side-street with easy access to transportation to get you anywhere in Rome (10-15 minutes from the Termini, 5-10 minutes from a stop on the Metro). There are a number of restaurants and bars (coffee shops) close to the hotel. There is a small elevator that allows you to send your bags up, or fits 2 people. Breakfast was at a small bar located at the end of the street (by chit provided by the hotel). We reserved a 4 person room. We got a room that would have been nice for 2, but was very small for 4. The desk had been moved out of the room into the hallway, and 2 single beds were moved in to join the double already there. Basically we were on one big bed. The room was clean, and fresh towels were available when you wanted them. There was a bathroom with shower in the room. There were also 2 other bathroom/showers on the floor for the use of people without showers in their rooms. I talked to the night person about paying with credit card. He said it was possible, but cash was preferred. When we tried to check out the next morning, the guy on the desk said he could only accept cash; he didn't know how to use the credit card machine. Summary - OK place in OK location. Multiple rooms, some of which have a bath and shower. Clean. Reasonably priced. 24 hour desk service. Plan on paying with cash.
