CHECK AVAILABILITY
Alle Fornaci a San Pietro is a welcoming townhouse in Rome city center situated on the 4th floor (attic) of a 20th-century historical building. This nice accommodation is located within meters of St Peter’s Basilica, and its amazing Domus Room offers stunning views of the Basilica.

Guests at the townhouse can enjoy a daily, complimentary breakfast buffet.

The Townhouse was conceived in an original style, both in its structure and in its furniture, and offers free wireless Internet access throughout. The rooms are spacious, bright, and colorful, and open onto the Fornaci (“furnaces”) street, so called because the area once hosted numerous brick factories. One room boasts incredible views of St. Peter's dome.

Major attractions to visit on foot include the Vatican Museums, Castel Sant’Angelo, Piazza Navona, Campo de' Fiori, and the Pantheon. There are also many bars and restaurants within walking distance.

A number of buses depart for the city center right outside the property (22 yards/20 metres), and the Ottaviano–San Pietro metro station is a pleasant 10-15 minute stroll away (cross St. Peter's Square to reach Piazza Risorgimento, the start of one of Rome's best shopping streets, via Cola di Rienzo).

This was the third time for me in Rome, but it was the best hostel I have ever been in. It is only a few steps away from St. Peter, there are some nice restaurants and pubs around the hostel. The hostel owner was really nice and Mr Bon, who waited for us to show us the room and give a the key was also very friendly. The rooms are big and clean. Great hostel!

Perfect location 1 block from St. Peter's Square. Cafes right downstairs, and throughout the neighborhood. A laundry and grocery are down the street. Breakfast was served at a cafe down the block. I'm still missing the creme brioches! The bus stop is at the end of the block. The 64 bus runs often, and made travel easy.

We thoroughly loved our stay at the Alle Fornaci a San Pietro. It was a great place to stay in Rome. The room was clean and comforfable with a beautiful view of St Peter’s Basilica The hotel surroundings were pleasant and the hotel staff extremely helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was offered at a nearby coffee shop which was an enjoyable start to the day. The location was perfect; close to the Vatican City, the city centre and within walking distance to almost everything. I whole heartedly recommend this B&B to anyone and I hope to return again myself! A wonderful experience!

I was traveling with my boyfriend and when we arrived the owner gave us a small cold beverage and explained everything about the surroundings, what buses to take, etc (in Italian, but my bf translated for me). The room was perfect for us, a young couple traveling on a budget but still nice enough to enjoy the room and not be concerned about the safety and cleanliness issues of some hostels. I would definitely stay there again. The only thing that wasn't so nice was the 4 flights of stairs carrying our luggage.

Just steps from the Vatican and surrounding areas of interest. The only thing that the website did NOT mention was that it is a 4 flight walk-up. I saw this info on another visitor's comments, so I was not surprised. If I had not read that prior to arriving, I would have been very upset. Great for the physically fit or those with minimal luggage! Otherwise, a great location at a reasonable price.

Owner is very warm, the hotel location close to the Vatican, very good looking, very safe neighborhood, near the supermarket. The rooms are very clean and beautiful, a television, a refrigerator so I was very pleasantly surprised. For the tour, the boss introduced the Roman specialty restaurant definitely worth trying. Some rooms can see St. Peter's Basilica, two months later, also in the new balcony was the night view of St. Peter's Cathedral, very beautiful. To Rome, living B & B, must be here.

Our host was very welcoming and described everything we needed to know. She also pointed us to some nice areas and described how to get there. The room was excellent - much better than other Rome hotels at the same price. Not silent, but no hotel in Rome is. Will definitely consider this hotel again!

Very clean room, location perfect for visiting Vatican City, and very close to bus and train into main sites. A bit expensive considering the 4 story walk up (not mentioned anywhere), and bathroom outside of the room at the end of the hallway. Stayed here 2 nights, bed was comfortable and really enjoyed the breakfast croissant and capuccino included with the stay.

We had a nice stay in this B&B and recommend it to everyone who is fit enough to climb a few stairs. Good location, near train/metro station San Pietro. Train station is easy to reach from airport. Very close to the Vatican. Other areas can be reached easily by bus or foot (Trastevere is a 20 min walk). Nicely decorated B&B and a good bed, comfortable for taller people (i am 1,92 m). Breakfast in a bar nearby, which was perfect. We enjoyed our stay.

This is a cool (great) spot. It is the only hotel in this building and in a very handy location for a quick bus across the river to the center, or a cozy stroll down the river to the Trastevere area for abundant eating/drinking. I'd definitely come here again! Bom is a legend and the best hotel-host we have had so far. We are travelling on a low budget, but this did not feel low end at all.

When I found ALLE FORNACI A SAN PIETRO I thought it looked really beautiful. My room and bathroom were clean, very clean, cleaned every day !!. 4th floor, no lift ...but beautiful view on St. Peter's Dome ...

Is a wonderful place to stay in Rome. A few footsteps to Vatican and reasonably close to the heart of historical town. Bedroom and bathroom were neat and clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast at Max Bar was excellent. Must go again soon. No lift (4th floor) but the price was very reasonable compared to people we talked to who had paid double what we paid in other apartments. Highly recommended.

As a couple in our 50s we found the accommodation to be ideal for touring Rome on foot, seeing all the major attractions in the 5 days that we were there. The only slight niggles were the climb to the fourth floor, the fact that our outside bathroom was not immediately outside our room and that you could occasionally hear guests in the adjoining bedroom. Bon, who welcomed us with a small bottle of Prosecco each, was helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast at nearby cafes was simple but delicious and we would definitely consider staying here again if we return to Rome.

The best features of this B&B are location (safe and quiet, a few steps from St Peter Basilica) and cleanliness of the rooms. The owners are also very friendly and helping. It's a very nice apartment on the 4th/last floor (no lift). Also, it is reachable by bus or subway. The only issue is the constant noise from the street below (rooms have double glazing but in such a city road traffic is important and noisy, you will have the same problem anywhere else in Rome). I would recommend it (I have been in Rome in the past so I know what the standards are and this b&b is above them).

Very warm welcome, staff friendly and very helpful. Good sized room although it is on the 4th floor with no lift, the 9 flights will keep you fit. Breakfast is at a cafe close by with typical italian food offered. Close to the Vatican in what seems to be a good safe neighbourhood. 1 minute walk to bus stop for city centre (No.64 bus). We stayed here for 3 nights in June in the room that overlooked the Vatican. Good things: friendly staff, mostly clean (dusty, but clean), safe and nice area. Bad things: uncomfortable bed (I guess Italy is known for this?) and the seagulls outside our window in the morning were noisy! We enjoyed the simple breakfast just around the corner. Yes, the stairs- but we knew so can't complain. It is good exercise! Really, you can't beat the price for what you get! Oh, forgot to mention that the air conditioner did not work well, just average- fine with me but my hubby likes the room ice cold!

Bed & Breakfast Alle Fornaci a San Pietro was amazing!! Our flight was delayed so we didn't arrive until almost midnight and the owner was still up waiting for us to let us in. Our room was exactly what we expected, if not better. It was spacious, very clean, beautifully decorated with a nice little ensuite bathroom. There was also a small fridge, kettle, free tea & coffee which was really nice. The location was perfect - about 1 minute walk from the Vatican square. The owner was really nice and let us leave our bags (we only had one small hand luggage each) for the day as we walked around and came back to pick them up. This place was amazing and we would definitely stay again. The only thing to be aware of is that it is up 4 levels so for people who have problems walking up stairs, this may be a problem for you as there is no lift. For us this was no problem and did not take away from our fantastic stay!

Not really a hotel or hostel, but 3 rather big and clean rooms in a flat (4th floor without elevator). Good, clean and save location, 2 walking min to St. Pietro, 30 sec. to bus station, 1.2 km to subway (Ottaviano). Parking situation is difficult, multistorey carpark nearby is expensive. Breakfast in a bar nearby, very good (but typically italian, i.e. small). Lots of good books in rooms and corridor. Towels could be changed more frequently without charge, not only every 5 days. Overall: good

Overall my family and I rated the accomodation provided to us in Aug 2009 as adequate and fit for purpose. The accomodation was as advertised and is superbly situated (about 500M from St Peters Basilica). Our room was the family en suite Room which was fine for 3 persons, but it was let down by some basic attention to detail items. E.g. the clean towels we were provided with smelt and the en suite's shower facility needed a good clean (it had mildew and grime build up in the cubicle and the tiling and grouting needed cleaning). The shower drain also made the room smell. Anyone considering this accomodation should be aware of the 8 flights of stairs need to reach the rooms. Overall, we considered the room to be average 'Value for Money' with a little bit of TLC to the cleanliness items above our ranking would have increased significantly.

Very originally styled B&B. Host takes good care. Very nice atmosphere. Lots of steps to climb as mentioned in other reviews, but you get rewarded with a look at St. Peters on every floor. If you like to spend the evening nearby the B&B, we recommend to take the short walk to the bit more lively "Borgo Pio" street near the Vatican. Ignore the first few restaurants where the waiters are trying to get you in (always a good strategy to avoid tourist traps) and you will find a nice trattoria where you can eat and almost accross of it a nice pub where you can catch some real roman spirit.

Excellant location for the Vatican. Room was clean and well presented and serviced daily. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Coffee shops and resturants easily available and many more at various price ranges within a 10-15 minute walk. Though the stairs did not present an issue for us they could for older people. Hot water at times was lacking. Breakfast was pretty basic at a small cafe down the street. Though it is an issue that can't be controlled the price /exchange rate/room value does not equate from a North American perspective. That being said the room was what we expected from Rome and more and we throughly enjoyed our stay. We would recommond.

What more can I say besides the place is incredible, the location is incredible, and getting to the Alle Fornaci is incredibly easy. As you walk up the stairs to the rooms at each window you get a great view of the dome above St. Peter's, if that doesn't impress you then you shouldn't even be in Rome. The staff was great and the complimentary cappuccino's and brioche at Max Cafe each morning were fantastic. Getting back to Roma Termini station was as easy as walking 20 meters down the street and getting on the number 64 bus for 2 euro's. The Alle Fornaci was a wonderful place.

We stayed in a double room with its own bathroom. The room was extremely spacious, decorated nicely and very clean and cozy. The service was outstanding. Breakfast is room service in your room and is very generous and a very large selection. There was a some street noise in our room because it faced via Delle Fornaci but not too bad. Note: it is necessary to walk a few flights of stairs to get to the rooms. This property is 5 minutes walk to the vatican (see picture from St. Peter's dome), 3 minutes walk to bus stops, and about 1/2 mile walk to Ottaviano metro A station. These, plus a short walk allows you to go anywhere in Rome. We will stay here again.

You must climb a staircase to get there (it is a historical building without lift), but the view of the dome is gorgeous and, at the same time, it is a good exercise... I stayed here also last year and have appreciated this time the new breakfast style: a real good capuccino and corneto at a coffee shop nearby at the moment you like: very good idea! Other changes with respect to last year are the free coffee and tea facilities and the free internet wireless connection. Overall, to be highly recommended.

This B&B suited our needs perfectly - we're in our late 50's, in good shape & love to walk, so the many stairs and non-central location were no problem. We don't need a lot of hotel services so the lack of full time staff & extras were also no problem. We saved a ton of money compared to the ourtrageously overpriced Rome hotels and spent the savings on more enjoyable/important things like tours and good restaurants. Being in a residential neighborhood and very close to the Vatican was enjoyable. We walked everywhere - Castel St. Angelo, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and even the Spanish Steps. We thought the breakfast was excellent (nice job Anthony!) and it even included freshly cooked eggs. The room was clean, comfortable, good size, fairly modern, & had an ensuite bathroom (some had private bath, but across the hall). The only flaw we could find was the shower needed some maintenance - the shower head leaked and lacked pressure - but not a major problem. If you're not in reasonably good shape, need lots of pampering and rely on hotel staff for much of your travel/tour information, this place probably isn't for you. Otherwise, it's a wonderful place. We highly recommend it. We will stay here again on future trips to Rome.

This was a great location near the Vatican. Arranged for prompt pick up at FCO airport. Breakfast was prompt and plentiful, choosing the night before what you wanted. TV was only in Italian, no CNN World. On top floor, so you get exercise. Cafe's around B&B were very good, close to bus stop. Enjoyed our stay immensely, and would highly recommend! The location was great you are a couple of steps from the Vatican. The hardest part was getting directions there. But if you go to the vatican you are less then a mile away! We really enjoyed our stay. Every evening we would go down to the restaurant for a drink we were greeted by the same waiter it was really cool. I would visit again.

It's fantastic, when yu want to see the Vatican. You can be the first in the long queue :-) Or for running and walking. There is a long and bautiful walk path at the river. The room where we stayed was big and clean and I could sleep very good in the bed. So I suppose it must be a good matress :-) Don't expect too much from the breakfast. it's not a typical yumie italien breakfast, but it serves its purpose. We had a great time and people who are working there are very customer orientated. We asked for a tea they didn't have it so he went to a supermarket to buy it for us. That's fantastic.

We had some difficulty recognizing the place because it has no sign. You need to ring a doorbell which is all but hidden from view. Also, we did not expect to have to carry suitcases up 4 long flights of stairs, but once there the space was very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is great for visiting St. Peter's and Vatican City and bus transportation is just up the street. We had lunch at the sidewalk cafe out front, and enjoyed it very much.

You should print your paper work before coming here. The B&B was in a great location. It is half a block from St. Peters Basilica and Vatican City with the Sistine Chapel. It was a 5 min. walk from Castel Sant' Angelo that you can get amazing pictures from atop. It's about a 15 min. walk to Piazza Navona which is really fun, it was my favorite square. The other sites are not that far. We walked the whole time and it was fine. As far as dining try and find places down abandoned streets because the places out in the open are really expensive and not good for your money. We ate at Le Sorelle and it was great. Great food and ambiance.

My wife and I had a great stay at Alle Fornaci a San Pietro this past weekend. Serena sent us an email confirming everything and gave us her cell number for emergencies. Bon was there to greet us when we arrived and provided refreshments after a long flight (thank you, Bon!) We loved the neighborhood with lots of cafes, great food, and friendly staff and residents. We got used to life in Rome very quickly by enjoying lots of walking, and Bon's fitness equipment (walking up and down the stairs!) Dining after 8PM and staying out late enabled us to get some good sleep after the street noise calms down (after midnight, usually.) We will certainly be back to visit again, and thanks to Bon and Serena for such a pleasant stay!!

Klimaanlage vorhanden,Kein Balkon/Terrasse. Betten bequem.Einzel- und Doppelbetten. Zimmer liebevoll eingerichtet m. Stereoanlage und TV. Strassenlärm, hört man aber Nachts wenig. Tagsüber schon. Tip: Restaurant: "La Vittoria" gegenüber von B&B.

It was a nice stay and the place was as advertised but be alert of thieves even in this area of Rome. It happened to us in the hallway of the B&B though not by fault of the B&B. It really is an excellent location to get out and see the city! I can recommend it to anyone who can walk up a few flights of stairs!

This place is fantastic! We have stayed here before, in 2003 and it was just as good now as it was then. Convenient to Vatican City, Trastevere and a walk or short bus ride to other Rome sights or the train station. The rooms are cool - very contemporary with a selection of music/movies (mostly Italian, but some English) and great art/decor. The breakfast was not superb, but was adequate and very typical of Italian breakfast - coffee (specify cappucino or espresso), prepackaged pastries/ toast and some kind of juice drink. We don't mind the stairs, but be forewarned that the apartment is on the 4th or 5th floor and there is no lift/elevator. The view, however is great! You won't be disappointed with a stay here in this fantastic city!

Very nice place, we had a very pleasant stay. The location is excellent, although the street is quite noisy and the metro station is a good 15 minute walk (but the bus stop is just around the corner). It should be stated in the website that the rooms are on the 4th floor and there is no elevator. Overall we were very satisfied and will go back if we have the chance

From the moment we were met (by prior arrangement) at the airport to the moment we (reluctantly) left Rome, we were very happy with our choice of accommodation. Even the four flights of marble stairs were a good training for climbing the steps to the top of St Peter's Dome. We would willingly recommend this B&B to anybody travelling to Rome. We would also choose to stay here again whenever we return, which will hopefully not be too long.

WE had a very nice stay during Easter. We stayed in the room with private bathroom and a view to Saint Peters. The room was very well appointed and equipped with tv and a stereo. Also a varied library with a lot of interesting titles (in Italian)were there. The breakfast was plentiful but perhaps a little on the sweet side and there was freshly made cappucino. The service was friendly.

The place was very clean, and the room really spacious. The B&B has three rooms, one of them with views to S.Peters Basilica, which was really nice. This one was our room. We receive the breakfast in the bedroom each morning, which was not excellent but enough. Each bedroom has its own bath (one room inside and the other two rooms outside). The location of the B&B was really good (3 minutes to S.Peter´s Square). Only one note: the B&B is located in a fourth floor with no lift. Saving this last inconvenient, the price/quality is really good.

The flat is very funky and modern and a great place to stay to visit Rome as everything is within reasonable walking distance. One thing that isn't apparent on the website is that the free parking is actually on the street, if there is a space available! We ended up getting a parking ticket so had to pay that as well as paying to park on a meter during the day. We were a bit disappointed that breakfast is not served in the "room with a view" as suggested, but its brought to your room on a trolley so you don't get to enjoy that spectacular view over a cup of coffee in the morning. All in all though, we would recommend the B+B as it is very clean and well presented.

We stayed three nights at Alle Fornaci. The location was very good for visiting San Peter's square. It's a bit of a longer walk to other sights, however, there are plenty of buses downstairs if you get tired of walking. The breakfast was very basic, dry cereal and functional bread & juice. Don't stay here if your expecting a great breakfast. The rooms are sizeable, clean & comfortable. Key drawbacks, our beds were two seperate single beds, Serena didn't accomodate us when we asked for a double or queen. The bathrooms are not adjoined to the room, however, this was only a minor inconvenience. Internet, we were allowed free access to the internet. This was a nice bonus, we were able to research places to see and send e-mail to friends. Overall, nice artistic flair & decor - A la Miro. A good value for the money. Clean and well maintained, a safe bet.

We stayed three nights at "Alle Fornaci a San Pietro", and we liked it a lot. The owner of this B&B place, Serena Panella, was very helpful and friendly, and provided us with all information we needed. In addition to breakfast, we were provided with refrigerated drinks, tea and coffee. To mention is that this B&B place is located in a huge private apartment on the fourth floor in a nice old building, which requires some energy to climb up the stairs, especially with luggage. But nevertheless the rooms are tastefully furnished, with a lot of originality, so that one can feel relaxed in the whole property.

This is a lovely B&B. The location is great and we have been able to walk to all the main attractions of Rome. The Colliseum was a bit far, but, we love to walk anyway. The room is very comfortable and very clean... we could have eaten on the floor. Breakfast was ok, not very good. But I consider it the only weakness of that place. We enjoyed the warm and hospitable welcome after being picked up from the airport by taxi. A convenient much appreciated service, bookable at owner Serena. Having your own frontdoor key provides freedom as wel as that extra special feeling of belonging and making you feel at home. That is the beauty of the B&B formular! Alle Fornaci is a lovely, helpful, comfortable and convenient place to stay. Allthough the 99 steps to the fourth floor were a wonderful exercise for us, we feel that this might be crucial information for the not so fit, and should be mentioned on the website. Fresh rolls and an electric watercooker would make breakfast even more enjoyable. See you next year Serena, Nan en Nel

We were very pleased with our stay. The night we arrived in Rome, we arranged through the B&B owner to have someone come to the airport to pick us up. Our flights were all messed up and to top it off, the airline lost our luggage and it took a long time to get that straightened out. The person who was picking us up was not put out at all - even though they (the owner actually came with him) had to wait for us for over an hour. The location is *excellent* - about a 2 minute walk to St. Peter's Basilica. The B&B was located on the 4th floor, and required climbing a ton of steps to get to - so if you are severely out of shape you will be in shape by the time you leave!! :-) The entire apartment was extremely clean. Our room was roomy and had a nice TV, stereo and DVD player as well as a ton of CD's and moves - but it's not of real use unless you are fluent in Italian. Our bathroom was across the hall and was again, meticulously clean. Breakfast was good - except it got old after 4 days. The kitchen has an excellent view of the basilica. The owner of the B&B, Serena was extremely helpful telling us about the bus line and anything else we needed. Her English was good enough to tell us what we needed to know. We would definitely recommend Alle Fornaci a San Pietro. For the price, you can't beat it!

Very nice looking rooms having excellent audio systems. Friendly and helpful staff. Smoking in public areas was a bit annoying (as we don't smoke). With the same amount of money you may also find a 3 star hotel room, so this might be a little overpriced (but on the other hand the quality was very good). We certainly can recommend the place.
