Alchimia B&B - Rome

We spent three nights here in early May. This was our first time staying in a B&B (a B&B is more like having your own serviced apartment than being in a hotel) and the Alchimia was a wonderful introduction. Our room was spacious, clean and cozy. We had our own private bathroom with good shower (often hard to find in Europe). There is a kitchen where breakfast foods are available (toast, cakes, jams, butter, coffee, tea, milk), as well as facilities to do your own cooking (fridge, stove, etc). There is also Wi-Fi and a desktop computer available for guests, a great bonus. The location is in an apartment building in a quiet suburb about 5 km to the south of the city center. There is good access by bus into the city – a 15-20 minute ride with buses probably coming every 20 minutes or so – and the bus stop is right outside the B&B. The one time we took a taxi (on a major public holiday) it cost 11 euro to the hotel from the city center. My only complaint would be that the bathroom did not have any soap (for sink or shower), so we had to use our own. Perhaps this is not normal. I would strongly recommend Alchimia B&B for travelers who are more independent / experienced traveling around Europe (OK using public transport, etc), and who will be staying in Rome for at least a couple nights. It is a great base for exploring the city and especially if you are looking to experience the city in a way that goes beyond checking off each of the major tourist attractions.

It's ok! Clean and beautiful. Not near downtown but we need this part of Rome.
