We stayed in an apartment in the centre of the town. Super location and very close to everything. Room was nice but super damp, towels were wet for the 4 days there. Bathroom was really moldy and damp. Not a nice place to have to use. We have stayed at Locanda dalla Compagnia 3 times before and loved it, this room was not even close to what we had before. We stayed in the main building before and would do so again.

the apartment we booked was fantastic as was its position and facilities but the one bad point was the attitude of the staff. we arrived at about 11am but they refused us entry to the property and would not even give us a place to put our bags for a few hours. they will only let you book in between the hours of 3 pm to 6pm. we arrived when we did because that was the times available for the trains. they also on booking in tried to make us pay cash only saying that there card machine and phones did not work but some how there internet did, we refused and they had to take the payment by credit card.

This hotel is one of the cheapest hotel in Cinque Terre. However, it is located at the top of a very steep incline. We booked for a standard apartment (Zepi), but when we reached at 430pm for check-in, we were given a standard room. The guy at the counter seem preoccupied with his girlfriend and kept trying to get us to accept the room, stating reasons like the apartment is another 20 minutes away and there is no wifi there and that the apartment cost 60 euros a night, while the room cost 90 euros and so we are getting more than what we paid for. Additionally, on the last day, we left our luggage at the reception for collection later. The place was suppose to open at 3pm for us to collect our luggage, but the same guy only came at 320pm to unlock the door. This was not a good experience, but we will return to it because it is one of the cheapest place. If you can afford it, go to another location to stay.

My fiance and I were very happy with our stay at the Locanda dalla Campagnia. We had a two-story apartment style hotel room, which was very spacious and included a kitchen. We loved the large deck with great views of Riomaggiore! It's definitely a no-frills accommodation, but it was very clean and we thought it was a great deal for only around $80/night. To find it, just continue up the hill when you get into Riomaggiore and it will be on your right. It is a lot of up-hill walking, and you have to climb many stairs to get to your apartment, so keep this in mind. The gentleman who checked us in was nice enough to carry my suitcase all the way up to our room, which was greatly appreciated! Overall I highly recommend Locanda dalla Compagnia.

I had read good reviews, but was very disappointed with the apartment they offered. Not clean, cold, not very nice-looking, no wifi. Kitchen lacked very basic equipment, such as glasses and frying pan. No ventilation in bathroom. All in all we were very disappointed with this accommodation.

We greeted warmly by Marina and Romano who were open and hospitable. Marina prepared a meal as a paid alternative to travelling into town. The property was difficult to find and so it would be wise to keep in touch with Marina as the venue is approached.

The owner of this place verbally abused my wife and myself. He wrongly claimed that we were overstaying our booking, and that we did not intend to pay. My wife was frightened by his aggressive and bullying manner. When he discovered his mistake there was no apology. The place itself is good and well located. There was no welcome and no change of towels for 5 days. Pity - nice place but never again.

We stayed in one of the apartment-style rooms and it was spacious, clean and quiet! The only downside to the room is the shower: there is very little hot water, and the short curtain makes for a bit of a watery mess. Breakfast isn't included in the price of the room, but there are several restaurants nearby where you can eat, so that really isn't a problem. The reception was also kind enough to keep our luggage at the front desk while we hiked the trails throughout the day. Overall, we had a great stay!

the location is centric, the rooms are spacious and clean. The relationship between price and quality is well, although the price of the hotels in this region is upper compared other cities in Italy. I recommend to accommodate in Riomaggiore if would like to visit Cinque Terre, is the bigger city in that region and the prices of the hotels is better.

For the price this was an absolute steal. We had our own apartment on the main street. The hotel was located next to a Church which some may find annoying. Se however only found it adding to the charm. I was very duelighed to visit Riomaggiore and I can't wait to revisit the sorroundings and hotel with it's warm and welcoming staff.

Great place, clean, great antique and fun furniture and art work........like being in a gallery. Relaxed atmosphere and a kind host (important in this hectic town). We had a shared bathroom and it always seemed to be available and super clean when we needed it. The noise from the street was considerable which meant that we had to keep the window closed at night, making the room a bit stuffy, but perhaps in the summer they provide fans.

The B&B was okay to stay, it's centre and easy to access to bars, food, supermarket and train station. The only downside was during our stay, there was a night when everything shut due to storm warning. We didn't get any notification from the people who work there. Staff members saw us going into the room couple hours before everything shut, but didn't inform us to prepare some food. A few other couples who stayed there at the time expereinced the same situation. Lucky we bought some snacks during the day, otherwise it will be a long, cold, hungry night.

If you chose this B & B which is up a very steep hill take the little shuttle bus up to it. It costs 1.5Euro and is so worth it. The hotel upgraded us to their apartment in the building next door which was great. So ask if that is available when you make your reservation. It has a full kitchen which was wonderful. I made our Starbucks instant coffee which I had brought with me. We did not get breakfast at this hotel but that was fine since so many shops have fresh foccacia bread and we just brought it back to our place. There are not many restaurants that have an "American breakfast" of eggs, pancakes etc. We were awakened by church bells which ring right outside the kitchen window. The staff were very nice and helped with all our questions. We would stay there again. To reach the hotel just come through the train tunnel and go straight up the main street and the hotel is on your right before the church. You will have to climb up three flights of stairs to get to the apartment and there is no lift.

This property is a bit of a hike up the Riomaggiore hillside, but provides very spacious, comfortable rooms with some amenities, like mini-fridge, kitchen sink, tv, fan, and clothesline outside the window. The staff checked us in an out quickly and efficiently (they do not speak much English, just FYI), helped take bags up to our room, and we enjoyed a very quiet stay. It is located next to a small church and a few steps up from the main street with shops, cafes, restaurants, and another few steps down to the marina, ferry launch, and tunnel to the train station.

Mini apartment on the sea. We were ground floor with two windows that opened up with a view of the harbor. Tiny fridge, sink and stove. Enough for a quick breakfast. Hot water is sparse and takes a long time to reach the shower. Easy to waste it in the first blast when it finally reaches the shower. Tile floor was dusty. Nice people. Stairs - pack light. Nice escape from the bustle of the city. Laundry up the hill in the city or clothesline out the window.

I reserved a room at Hotel Locanda dalla Compagnia but was told on arrival that I had the budget room and would be given a room in a different location-I was asked for my money at the price I'd agreed to and was directed to another location to be met by someone(a girl)who would show me to my room. 35 stairs later I was given a clean room but one I would generously describe as adequate. It lacked any charm, the bathroom floor remained wet until I noticed a drain hose attached to the water heater that needed to drain into the sink and was draining on the floor-overall the space was depressing. I enjoyed my stay in the area but would NOT recommend this "hotel"!

Riomaggiore is BEAUTIFUL, so i'm glad we secured a hotel in the town, despite having only a view of the rocks outside our window. hotel staff was very nice and the location of the hotel was very good. the rooms seems very pricey considering what you actually get, but that's to be expected in Cinque Terre as hotels are in high demand in July when we went. at a slightly cheaper price, i would give this hotel a much higher recommendation, but for our stay it did the trick!

We were offered an apartment by the marina, at the same price as a room (without a view) and were very pleased to accept. This gave us space and privacy, and easy access tto tthe train station. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. We were happy to walk up the street to the hotel for breakfast each morning, and the breakfast was good, offering fruit juice, croissants, toast, fruit yoghurt and choice of coffee, including cappuccino. On the morning we left, the hotel gave us croissants and yoghurt to take with us, since our train left early. There are many restaurants in the main street, and other shops supplying goods for preparing your own meals. There is an ATM available in the main street, and I suggest you pay in cash, because the hotel's Credit Card facilities seem to be affected by the weather. Overall, a most enjoyable stay.

As others have reported, we were taken down the hill to a 2 bedroom apartment overlooking the bay, after going up more stairs. But if you are looking for a holiday without stairs don't go to Italy! The apartment was like going back in time to the 60's! when I was a kid and used to visit my new australian friends homes! very quaint, very clean, but very uncomfortable old beds! You certainly get what you pay for! Had to hike up the hill for breakfast which was adequate, lovely fresh crusty french stick but as noted by others croissants in plastic, which were actually very nice.

Although not hard to find, it is an uphill walk from the station. As others have reported, we were offered the two bedroom apartment instead of the hotel rooms. The apartment is right on the water, with views over the sea and the sound of waves on the beach. A wonderful location. Things were quiet, being off season, but it is walking distance from several restaurants, and even the next town. So there is plenty of choice. No breakfast was provided (again it was off season). But the beauty of Le Cinque Terre and the apartment more than made up for it. The owner was extremely helpful. While I spoke Italian with her, I gather english communication isn't a problem.

We were offered the apartment at the harbor and accepted, based on other readers' comments. Up a lot of steep stairs (in the building), and you have to hold down the plunger in the toilet tank to get it to fill, but once we figured that out it was fabulous. When we arrived in Riomaggiore, the hotel was locked and no-one was around. There was a telephone number to call if there was not an attendant. I did not have my cell phone on me. Fortunately the hotel attendant who did not speak English but was very accommodating and vivacious appeared after we were there for maybe 5-10 minutes. She showed us to a very nice apartment which was very spacious and included an outside deck. We immediately felt as though we lived there, and we were not tourists. We highly recommend this hotel. We were placed in a large family apartment about 100m away from the central hotel, up some stairs. Very roomy with a full kitchen had we wished to cook and great little balcony looking out over the town and sea. We loved that our neighbours were local families and we weren´t right on the main street yet no distance to walk. The only improvement I would suggest is to update the breakfast from the breadroll and cup of coffee.

The employees were friendly and the rooms were clean except for a couple of spiders. The major problem is a very serious one- the entire hotel smelled of mildew and we could see the black spots of mold all over the wall of our bedroom and even though they had painted over the mildew with a design, its presence was evident visually and by the strong odor. We opened the window to get in some fresh air but I would not recommend this place to anyone as it is now.

Clean place, friendly people, good location. But the breakfast was totally inadequate: packaged and sale rolls, nothing more, no juice even. The worst breakfast in a dozen Italian hotels. Also, note that Riomaggiore is very damp because of the ocean. The air conditioner here is very poor, so nothing dried over a 36-hour period. No windows in this placed that open. Overall good, but the poor breakfast and dampness lower its rating.

The reception was hard to locate and the apartment was not in the building indicated. We caught the train and it was quite a hike, once in Riamaggiore the journey became steeper to the address given then our apartment was further uphill. Luckily we were travelling with our son and partner who helped with our bags. We didn't know we were to be accomodated in a self contained apartment which really suited us, it was a quirky place but had a spectacular view over the town to the sea, wonderful with a wine in the evening. The bathroom was tiny and the shower like no other we had seen, we all found it difficult to use. Despite my comments we all loved the location, the apartment was big enough for us all and we felt very much at home more than in a room each. We didn't mind the extra distance from the village as we were amongst the locals and didn't feel like tourists

Really loved this and this hotel- it's the 3rd I have tried in Riomaggiore and by far the best. They are all a bit dark and musty but that is due to the buildings being built into the cliffs. We stayed in Riomaggiore for 2 nights. This is a hilly place, and it's a good walk up the hill to the hotel from the train station. However, Riomaggiore and the Amalfi coast would not the easiest place to get around in if you had problems with mobility. The rooms are small, but that's the way it is here, and we knew what to expect. We were made to feel welcome, and would definitely look to stay here if we return to Riomaggiore.

The Hotel Locanda della Campagnia respresented itself very accurately on Venere.com with the exception that the attached apartments (part of the property), which we stayed in, did not have air conditioning. The site lead us to believe that every room was equipt with AC. We were there 4 nights and did not receive fresh towels or any freshening of rooms at all. The women who run the hotel are very nice and helped us with one person in our party who became very ill. That person had to leave one night early and was not charged for the fourth night.

This was our first time in the Cinque Terre. The welcoming staff at the Locanda dalla Compagnia was very nice. She told us that they did not have a room with a view but offered an apt. in the marina. This would have been good for a younger couple with less luggage than we had since it required going down and up some very narrow steps. We actually did not see the apt. since there was a problem obtaining the key. But by then we realized we would stay in the main hotel since we would not have to negotiate the stairs. My only complaint was that our only window looked out onto a stone wall about 4 feet from the window. If I returned I would insist on a room with a window that looked out to the street.

This little hotel is very charming, as the landlady! The position in Riomaggore is not too close to the railway, which is good, since the noise from passing trains is the only disturbance in this wonderful place. We certainly recommend Locanda della Compagnia!

The hotel is situated at the top of the main street. The walk from the station to the hotel is quite a strenuos one ,particularly when dragging moderately weighted suit cases. However the rooms of the hotel are more or less at ground level.Bedroom and bathroom very clean and tidy.We found the breakfast from what we as Australians would be used to as on the poor side , no cereal or fresh croissants, coffee average. Our bedroom was near the front of the hotel and subject to noisy chatter difficult if you were looking for a late afternoon nap, very quiet at night.Overall however we enjoed our stay.

We had a great apartment on the water, and it was huge. Lots of space and very clean. Beds were the two singles beside each other with one sheet type deal...kinda uncomfortable but we managed. Huge room and clean. Staff speak very little english but they are very sweet. Hike up the hill for breakfast was a good workout. If you stay in apartments, don't hike up the hill with bags like we did, as you'll end up walking right back down to your room.

We requested and were given a Marina apartment which was in a great location. The reception area is at the top of the village which is OK if you arrive by car however if you arrive by train the walk up the hill with luggage is tough. The apartment was well fitted out and even had a washing machine although you couldn't use it as there was no way of connecting it to the water supply. We didn't bother walking up the hill for the available breakfast

We felt like we were part of a loving family. They are so sweet and gracious. We had paid for a hotel room but they let us stay in their charming apartment. We really loved that as it has a nice balconey with a beautiful view of the harbor and the town square. We fell in love with the beautiful village. We were there is off season so in early Feb not many restaurants open. Since we had the apartment we were able to shop, which is an experience all in it's own. Loved it. We were there 2 weeks and by the end of our stay many more restaurants open. The "season" there is March-November

Like all hotels in Riomaggiore you need to walk from the car park (down hill) or the train station (up hill). Owner is very laid back but friendly. Small clean and well located.

This was a lovely B&B in the southernmost town of Cinque Terre. The Hotel keeper was so warm and friendly, although her English was very basic, all the necessary information was communicated. The typical breakfast fare was ok, but the hostess kept the capuccinos flowing! And it was delicious. Walls are thin, so the only noise I heard was the man next door snoring (and he indeed seemed like an exceptionally loud snorer...) but it was very quiet otherwise. Location was excellent, just a very short walk up the hill from the train station. A note about this, other reviews made it seem as if this walk was too much, and granted it's a fairly steep hill, but even with very slow steps and lots of luggage, it's less than a 10 minute walk once you get through the tunnel that leads out of the train station. The room was spacious compared to all our other rooms in italy, and it was great that we got both "traditional" bathtowels, as well as the ones that seem to be so popular in Italian hotels, which dubbed "tablecloths" Overall, very positive experience with this location, hotel, and owner/hotel keeper.

Hotel is located on main road into town. Must pay to have a car parked (20 Euros per day) unless you can get into a sister hotels parking area for 10 Euro per day. No bar available. Good Breakfast/coffee provided. Quiet rooms which are well maintained.

Great hotel in Riomaggiore - bit of a hike up the hill with bags, but in Cinque Terre everything is a bit of a hike up the hill. Very friendly, Italian language only staff. Wish I could go back every year.

This hotel is run by three great women who work hard, keep everything clean and are very pleasant and nice to be around. If something does not go right with your room, they will try hard to fix it. The coffee in the morning was delicious, the buns were not so good. The hotel is a direct, long difficult walk up a hill. if you have lots of luggage .... good luck! However, it is also on the town bus route, so if you can find out where the bus is, catch it! The town is so small that everything is close by, including a church right next door!

If you're planning to visit the Cinqueterre, it's the place to be... It's about 300 metres from a safe parking garage (20 Euro a night for 24 hours). Ask for the appartement, it's great. It's a 10 minutes walk from the train station. We really loved it.

When we arrived (Xmas time) in the morning, there is no staff there for checking in, and there had been a few people there waiting for the staffs as well... And the electrical water heater for bath was tricky to use. Sometimes it worked OK, but sometimes you have to wait for the warm water... others are OK.

The village of Rio Maggiore is incredibly beautiful and well connected by train to others Cinque Terre and La Spezia (no need to take your car !). To go to the hotel, use the elevator (service included in the Cinque terre card) : the view is extraordinary and it is less difficult to go up the hill. At the locanda there is a familly atmosphere . It is a good point in a certain way : friendly people, you can use dishes and the microwave just like at home... But it can also be negative : there is not always somebody at the reception (never at night) and it is sometimes hard to get clear information about services : was the breakfast included in the price or not ? We will never know ... The room was very confortable but noisy early in the morning. To conclude we had a very pleasant stay in this place, which is extraordinary ! And the price is good. I would recommand it !
