It was a real pleasure to stay at Casa San Marcos. The Casa itself has this extraordinary ambience. What made the big difference was the people who run it in a highly professional manner. Spotless, everywhere filled with fresh roses. The service was impeccable. We came late from the tour and we could order a personalized dinner served however we wanted. The wake up call was precise to the minute and we got help with the luggage. There is such a commitment to great customer service and it is to be commended. You can be sure that we will stay at Casa San Marcos again when we have the opportunity.

Our stay at the hotel Casa San Marcos was a huge influence as to why we loved Quito so much. Every inch of the hotel seems like there is something to explore. It's like the adventure doesn't end when you check in for the night. The location is primary! It's a 5 minute walk to the heart of old Quito. I would recommend it to anyone. Well worth it.

We loved Casa San Marcos. We stayed in a huge room off the lobby on the first floor. My husband and I were meeting our 20 yr old student as she finished a semester there. Might request a quieter room but we had a triple so it worked for us. I'm sure other rooms were much quieter by virtue of being upstairs or far from lobby. Everything else was perfect! It's a beautiful and very unique hotel, with only 6 rooms we were the only guests in the off season. It's filled with art and antiques, there's an art gallery and a couple of big rooms filled with more antiques for sale. We were there for 5 nights (we took a trip to the Galapagos and a day trip to the cloud forest between weekends), staff was very helpful, food was very good and they had a nice selection of wines. Dining room has a beautiful view at night, the patio dining room for breakfast was charming. The staff had a taxi for us on a moment's notice, but it was nice to have the option of dining in. On the weekends we walked around the old town, everyone was out and there was lots of activity. There were many brochures at the hotel, one gave us the idea of attending an event at Teatro Sucre that was very entertaining.

The only reason I rated hotel web page photographs an "8" was that the web page photos do not fully capture the grandeur. The first night (mid-week) there was quite a bit of street noise that kept us awake until after midnight. Not their fault but just something that may be an issue for lighter sleepers. We were in a room facing the small street. Everyone at Casa San Marcos was incredibly warm and kind.

Casa San Marcos is a gem of a hotel in Old Town Quito. it's the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed at and I've stayed at many beautiful places. It feels like you are in a palace. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They gave me free 2 class upgrade for both of my stays. Had dinner there twice as well but was quite expensive for the value. Highly recommend the hotel. The breakfast is free and is great. Skip the dinner - quite expensive for what you get.

Leisure travel with friends, stop over before heading to Manta, only regret is that we did not stay here for more than 2 days. Lots to do and see in Quito. Casa San Marcos is definitely a top of the line B&B, host and staff are fantastic. Other reviewers commented on the hard beds, but they are actually firm with very plush comforters and pillows. Absolute comfort!!! I hightly recommend.
