Bed and Breakfast Leonardo's Rooms - Pontassieve

Nice and clean accommodation. Owners are nice couple, very helpful. Our accommodation consisted of a room with a toilet. There is a refrigerator in the hall that guests can use, you can put ingredients for a sandwich of water, which you can buy cheaply at COOP shopping center 5 minutes of walk from there, but you should keep attention not to use too much space, as other guests are using it too. There is also a coffee machine and small microwave in this shared area which you can use. Accommodation is located 2 minutes of walk from Pontassieve train station which has a great connection to Florence (trains go usually every 30 minutes to one hour, it is also one of the big stations so many trains going to Florence actually stop there). For us this was a great solution as weekly train card costs 17€, and you can leave your car at the public car parking close to the train station. I had my car there for 8 days, nobody touched it. Some people may be uncomfortable with this, for me it was OK as Pontassieve is a small place, where everybody knows everybody else, my car is 7 years old, somebody who owns a more valuable car could be freaked out. We were using public transportation as trains are punctual, cheap and you avoid costly parking in Florence area (if you plan to go to Sienna, my advice would be NOT to go there with your car, it has the most expensive parking price in the whole Italy, instead go to Florence and from Florence SMN go to Sienna with train that costs 6.5€ and runs every hour). The one thing that bothered me is that there is no air-condition in it but in reality you will not need it if you avoid going there for a few really hot days during the summer. Even on these days, there is a cool breeze blowing from the hill and it cools off at 10PM, and it is usually too cold to sleep only in T-shirt (like I do). This is why I'm saying that A/C is not necessary, it is certainly not very popular in Italy generally. Also neighbors can be quite loud sometimes.

This was our first trip to Italy. Leonardos rooms was an excellent location to tour Florence from. Only 15 minutes by train and less than half the cost of staying in Florence. Good shopping in Pontesieve also.
