Bed and Breakfast Il Glicine - Sul Golfo - Mondello, Palermo

I and my daughter have a very nice experence in this B&B. Wonderful view and owner.

Staying at Il Glicine for our last night visiting Sicily was a pleasure. We were picked up and driven to the house by the owners son. Because they we were the only guests that night, the owner let me and my friend have two rooms so we didn't have to share a bed. The view off the balcony was spectacular. Breakfast in the morning was delicious complete with the owners homemade jams, fresh eggs and fresh blood orange juice all sourced from the backyard! The owner also let us come back from the beach and shower before one of her friends drove us to the airport around 7:00 PM. This kind of service as well as the accommodations are something I would expect to find at a five star luxury hotel. The owner truly knows how to run a business, and most importantly, she genuinely cares about her guests experience.

Not easy to find, but good contact by phone, beautifull old house from sixties, best we´ve ever stayed in this rate, no noise from in and outside, very friendly staff, good italian breakfast served by owner with kindness. Mondello is nice , good public beaches, but not cheap, esp. on weekend, when it is overcrowded. Good conection with Palermo by public transport. We´ve spent here nice four days, thank you, Silvana.

We had a nice stay at Il Glicine. The B&B is good, excellent breakfasts on the terrace with a great view. The people very friendly and helpfull. The only negative aspects were the noise of a pump or airco in the evening, and Via Saffo is so narrow that is isn't easy to get your car to the house without scratches.

Outstanding experience, and wonderful view! Sylvana (owner) was very gracious and accommodating of our schedule. The breakfast was fantastic, and served on a terrace with a beautiful view of the bay.

Ms. Slyvanna Pucci (the proprietor) was absolutely darling and made a delicious breakfast that included homemade jams. The setting was idyllic. I very much enjoyed my stay and would return.

Mondello is a superb destination. Il Glicine is a great place to stay. We were given the self contained flat as opposed to just B&B which made it even better. I assume this happens when there are no bookings at all. Breakfasts were good and you can choose the time upto 10am. The walk to the beach and town takes no time at all up and down the hill. 5-7 mins either way. If you are flying in and not hiring a car I strongly recommend you to take up Il Glicine's offer and let them book the taxi for you. We did and it was so hassle free it was unreal. You always know if you've had a good stay if you'd definitely go back and we would. A great place to stay.

A nice (double) room with balcony in the owner's house, daily cleaned. Sylvana gives info about the sights you should see in Palermo and where to park the car. An almost perfect breakfast. Good restaurants in the neigboorhood, a nice beach nearby. Perfect to visit Palermo and to stay in a more quiet suburb.

A charming suite of rooms in a private home with a gracious and informative hostess. The home was located a short walk from the main part of town and the bus stop for buses to Palermo. The views from the breakfast terrace were beautiful. The only negative we found was that the parking space was very difficult to get to due to a narrow access alley with cars parked along it.

The appartment was very spacious compared to other comparable accomodation in Sicily. The location however is quite a climb from the beach and town center and has a difficult access by car and parking if you are lucky.This is the only reason for the medium rating for price/quality.

The B&B is a beautiful house in a quiet area of Mondello, the owner a very pleasant woman who was friendly and informative regarding various tourist attractions, practicalities, etc. Our complaints are regarding the lack of information provided by Venere. I will detail our experience in arriving at Mondello 1- the information about the exit from the motorway was out of date, there is an exit much nearer Mondello, making us waste time in going through busy city centres 2- The agency should clearly indicate that the guests should call the house on arrival as the via Safo is almost impossible to locate, even by local people, we asked around 6 persons before finding it, a bit by sheer luck. And we speak Italian! The owner was surprised that this shouldn't be spelled out as she has had similar experiences with other guests. Otherwise, a street map of Mondello should be provided. 3- The lack of a house number, or name plate meant that when we located the street, we spent another half hour going from house to house trying to find the Glicine B&B. I cannot believe the name is not clearly marked on the plate with the owner's name, or this should be given to the guests. Eventually a delivery boy phoned the owner who came out to meet us, clearly embarrassed at seeing a couple in a state of shock, tiredness and frustration. All this could have been easily avoided. It spoiled the beginning of what was a very pleasant stay. We do hope you improve your instructions to guests, for this or any other property you manage. Another point is regarding payment. The email gives the impression you have debited our credit card and therefore we had not calculated the correct amount of cash to take with us, as we had to pay her cash and needed to withdraw more money in Sicily. You should clarify that the credit card details are only as a guarantee of booking.

We had a very enjoyable time, the only negative point was the noise created by the dogs at night and the roster in the early morning.

Fantastic place - made very welcome by Silvana - left us to our own devices but extremely helpful when needed. A superb introduction to Sicily - we shall be back. NB In the end we stayed in the apartment as opposed to the B&B - felt very at home. Lovely garden and friendly old dogs plus many cats - relaxing and cool. Thank you, Silvana!
