Bed and Breakfast Federico Secondo - Palermo

We stayed at Federico Secondo the last 2 weeks of April 2012. This is a first rate establishment of its kind. The rooms are spacious, clean, well-lighted and tastefully furnished. The bathrooms are large, very modern and with perfectly working fixtures. Vincenzo, the permanent host, is a brave young man ready to help and give good advice. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give him a 10 for his character. I would be happy to have him as a friend. We liked the neighborhood. If you don’t know Sicily, its history and problems, one might feel uncomfortable at the first sight of the narrow streets and old buildings. In fact, the surrounding area is a safe place where people know each other and are always friendly and ready to help. Few steps from your B&B you’ll find a “Panificio” where you can buy fresh and very good bread coming out of their oven every day at 9 AM and 5 PM, delicious Sicilian sweets, water, beer, etc. If you need more, less than 50 m. along the street there’s a pretty good Supermarket (ask the people for the entrance because it doesn’t have a sign) and immediately nearby is the Mercato del Capo, an excellent market for fruits, vegetables, meats and all the possible cooking ingredients you may dream about. In less than 100 m. radius, there’re several good restaurants. I remember The Papyrus for the excellent fresh seafood they served honestly mentioning if some fish were frozen. I think the best recommendation for this restaurant with reasonable prices, is that every time we went there, the customers (always in good number) were local people. This is not a trap for tourists. I hope I included here everything that shows that Federico Secondo is an excellent choice for somebody interested in living a Palermo experience that goes far deeper than the regular group touring in a bus and living in a 4 star hotel.

Well positioned, clean and quite location. ideal for city visit. pretty and recently refreshed buiding. only complain about lack of organization, but compensed by cordiality

Sparkling new rooms and baths with the latest of fixtures. Comfortable bedding and lighting. Several upholstered chairs would be a welcome addition to the one straight chair.

Very nice that the owner bought fresh bread every morning because my husband did not like the croissants and cake. thanks!

Federico Secondo occupies an extremely tastefully renovated building just behind the cathedral. My room was exceptionally stylish and comfortable, especially at that price point, with an impeccable mix of designer furniture, antiques and simple pinewood, a high-end mattress and the best ergonomic pillows I have ever slept on. You can tell that a lot of thought and care has gone into designing the place for maximum comfort and style. Everything was brand-new and impeccably clean. The neighborhood is simple, quiet and residential but there are a supermarket and an outdoor fruit and vegetable market a couple of minutes away. P.S.: I'm French, not Egyptian :-D
