Bed and Breakfast La Porta dell'Etna - Nicolosi

I stayed at La Porta dell'Etna at the end of March 2012 and was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation in relation to the price. La Porta dell'Etna B&B is a family-run establishment and on my arrival, I was immediately made to feel at home by the owner's friendly welcome. La Porta dell'Etna B&B is situated slightly out of the centre of town in a quiet part of Nicolosi. This offered me the opportunity to get decent sleep at night. It also offered me to the opportunity to do some walking through the neighbourhood en-route to the city centre and discover that, what is usually missed by tourists travelling by car. (Shops, restaurants, coffee and pastry shops) The people La Porta dell'Etna at are honest, friendly, helpful and gladly shared advice on the area and transport to and conditions on Mt. Etna. Their genuine interest about where I am from also surprised me. I was also supplied with a discount voucher for one of the Etna tour operators without even asking for it. The rooms are modern, neat and sensibly decorated. The shower stalls in the modern bathrooms are also bigger than the average. This is definitely a big plus point. The breakfast was also much more substantial than anticipated. I am an English and Afrikaans speaking South African, with very little command of the Italian language. The language barrier was thankfully overcome by the owner's son, Tony, who from time to time interpreted from English to Italian and vice versa. The property offers ample secure parking for cars behind the main building and the entrance is wide enough to accommodate a camper. Overall, I had a wonderful stay at La Porta dell'Etna and can recommend it to travellers. It offers great value for money. I would definitely return there.
