Villa Saphir is an old house, but a real nice place, if you know what you get. If a person wants an expensive hotel with pools an so on, then that the wrong place. But it´s a place with real friendly service, a real big breakfast and the owner anni is so helpful. It´s 1,5km away from the beach. You can walk or go by bus to the beach.

Although the rooms are basic the property is full of character. The owner was so friendly and welcoming and even though I arrived early she made me coffee and I spent a lovely hour relaxing on the little terrace outside the dining room before leaving my bag and going back into Nice. I was there to attend French Language School and every morning she prepared breakfast for me and sometimes sat with her coffee with me which was lovely as I was travelling alone. There was a bus stop directly outside the villa which was perfect for coming back in the evenings. Nice is very expensive and the villa saphir provided excellent value for money. The warm welcome and friendliness of the owner more than made up for the basic nature of the rooms and realistically what would you expect for such a reasonable price. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We were very satisfied with the Villa Saphir! Of course it was not perfekt there was a broken lamp for example and the bathroom was only seperated by a sliding door from the bedroom - the good price doesnt come from anywhere! But all that wasnt too bad, the service was very good and helpful and the breakfast rich! The familial atmosphere in the B&B was wonderful and every room individual. We basicly only stayed in the B&B for sleeping and breakfast so for that it was perfect! There were 2 dogs of the owner but they were very quiet and cute so no problem!

Our hostess Annie is excellent. Her attention to your needs is unique among people in similar roles. The breakfast that is provided was better than average - by European standards.

The rooms were ok, apart from the fact that the shower was horrible. There was no door to close the shower, just a curtain, so the water was running from the shower into the room (the shower is in the room, there is no extra bathroom), so we had inundations in our room. It was horrible. The breakfast room was quite dirty, and we couldn´t serve ourselves, so we had to wait quite a long time to get what we wanted for breakfast. The dogs are really sweet, but dirty as well. The biggest problem was the shower.

Being a single unpretentious traveler I honestly believe that Villa Saphir is a pretty good in terms of price / quality of your stay. The host, Annie, is always there in case you need help or advice. She serves a good French breakfast abundant enough for the good start of your day. Room is spacious, bed is good. The villa is a bit distant from the beach promenade area and train station but the bus connection in Nice is reliable. And you are completely unrestricted while there. There are some things that might be improved (stable internet access is only in one of the two buildings, shower is small and hardly can be called comfortable to use, be prepared that rooms are generally not cleaned) but this is a one regular French woman's little villa, and she does as much as she physically can. So if you don't mind living pretty much as you typically would live back at home, Villa Saphir is a good choice. If you got used to 4-star hotel standard, then this is definitely not a place for you to stay. BUT on the last note: price is very very moderate for Cote d'Azur.

I stayed for only a night, but was treated warmly, like a house guest. The establishment is old, but clean. The room had an attached bathroom with all amenities, unlike some budget hotels. Breakfast was ample and cordially served.

This is quite a way from the promenade if it is your first visit to Nice, though a bus across the road will bring you near for a euro and also to the port area.To return you get the bus in the opposite direction No.7 and it drops you at the door practically.Lots of steps up to front door and then to your room so be prepared!Breakfast consisted of juices, fresh fruit,tea/coffee,various breads and cereals, though you really need to ask for what you want!No air/con so slept with the french windows open each night and had dogs barking, babies crying and motor bike traffic! Buses are very efficent, the tram is there too but not so direct to this villa. All in all you get what you pay for and its a one woman show here so she does what she can for you, lots of help offered with books/internet and we were offered another room for check out day to leave our cases and return to shower before leaving for the airport. The no 7 to the prom.and no 98 to the airport cost 5euros each for both buses!

For a single person it is OK. I liked that bus station is in front of premise + wireless internet is available 24/7. Breakfast was great. a) You only get clean towels when you come first day. You should request additional new clean towels yourself after that. There is no cleaning lady. b) bed was comfortable c) no carpet(s) on the floor

Overall, our stay was good. Our first impression of the villa was not very good because no one was there to welcome us when we arrived. However, once we were settled in, we had a very enjoyable stay. The breakfast was plentiful (breads, cheeses, juice, tea, yogurt, fruit) and Annie was very helpful. We stayed for 3 nights and the room was not cleaned during our stay. That was fine with us. I did have to ask for new towels on the third night. The property is a 10 minute walk from the tram but we did walk to and from the beach a few times (~30 minutes).

This B&B has a very good breakfast and is run by a very charming owner. The building is nice to see but getting old and needs some work to be done. The only problem for us was that it is next to a very busy road (also at night) and for light sleepers earplugs don't help enough to stop it. Because the price is good en the rooms are big overall a good B&B.

I chose this property based on reviews and attractiveness of rate. I have been to Nice many times before. I usually rent an appartment when I stay there on extended stays. This time I stayed only few nights in Villa Saphir at a very unbeatable rate. First of all, I found Annie very helpful, she helped me out a lot and her suggestions were very helpful. I particularly did not like the proximity to the main road and the noise, which was difficult to sleep in the night. There is no AC as well, which was annoying as it was very hot. The breakfast was mostly breads, but I didn't really care for it must as I am not breakfast eater. The location is fine, however a bit too far from the beach. Took me 15 minutes to the Gare and 30 minutes to the beach. There is a tram stop 10 min away from the villa, which I adored. By bus I think its 10 min, but I was walking. Overall, stay was ok. I can't say it was excellent. The room was good size, however shower tiny. The rooms are not cleaned during the day, which is not a real problem for me. I may stay there again if for a few nights and at a very attractive rate.

The room was great and Big. the breakfast was outstanding overall a great stay would recommend. a little further from the centre of nice but not hard to use public transport and the bus just down a few stops takes you straight to the airport

Villa Saphir is in a convenient location for the price you pay. True that it's not in the city center, but everything is easily accessible from there. The bus is literally outside of the villa. You can walk up and down to the grocery stores, boulengerie (bakery), etc. Annie, the owner, is very helpful and a very good source for logistics and getting around. In regards to the B&B itself, it's good. The room is small, but at least you have your own bathroom in your room. It is very hot during the summer in Nice. I had the fan going and I left my window open the whole time even at night while sleeping. The only thing if you are American (like me) and expect everything to be so comfortable, this may not meet your expectations if you're a travel snob. :-p I found it convenient and pleasant to stay there. The area is very safe as well. The breakfast is great, and it's wonderful to have free wifi. The two dogs there are the nicest things ever. I would suggest that the details of how to get to the villa to be posted on the web site, including from the airport, etc. If you go to Nice, it's always worth it to go to Monaco for a day. It's lovely and about 30-45 min bus ride from Nice.

The proprietress was extremely helpful with sorting out our travel issues for the next day. She spent time looking up bus and train schedules and really helped us since we had a very early departure time. The kitchen and public areas are in need of some serious cleaning. There were no clean towels for drying dishes. The breakfast was good and was laid out for us at 5:30am which was very much appreciated. Except for the grunge factor, it was an excellent value.

While the landlady is a very welcoming person, the infrastructure at hand is a bit old, starting from a somewhat old room and furniture, going through old doors, and no so clean garden/public kitchen. This is certainly a good option if you wish to have a room in Nice for a small price, but for a little extra you could probably get something closer to the beach and probably somewhat newer. I have to reiterate the fact that the landlady was very nice, and she tried her best to make my stay a good one (offering breakfast little early on the day of checking-out, allowing me the use of her pressing board, etc.), but the sad fact is that the walls are slightly too thin, and the entire building needs a bit of renovation.

We arrived at noon and were greeted warmly by Annie who sat us on the balcony and brought us a welcome orange juice! She provided us with a useful map and showed us a couple of books about Nice and was very knowledgeable about the city in general. Our room was cool being downstairs, and had its own shower and toilet. We had our room key and could leave and return when we pleased. Breakfast was splendid. All you could ever want and more! Excellent value!

Villa Saphir surpassed what we expected in value. The help and support we got in settling in and getting orientated were excellent, the place and surrounds called for us to relax and enjoy ourselves, easy access to buses on the doorstep made getting around easy. the location being in easy walking distance to the beach, shops, station and markets was a great relief in working out how to get to any location. Staff and residents at the hotel were warm and welcoming and created a warm homey feel to the place, if you have a love for beautiful old things this is the place to be in as the decor has been kept in time with the building. Absolutely loved the place a definite to return to.

My stay at Villa Saphir was very pleasant! It is a bit far from the beach. But very easy to reach Old Nice and beaches by bus which goes often and cost just 1 Euro. My room was big, decorated in Victorian style, bed comfortable. There was internet in the villa, kitchen if you want to cook yourself, fridge. Owner was very friendly and helpful. She gave me the map and explained everything, gave some great advices where to go and how to get there, showed books about places. Breakfast was included. I liked to have it on the balcony :) She has some nice home made jams and always fresh bread that i liked so much. There are 3 very friendly dogs in the villa, if you like animals you will really enjoy your morning breakfast :). My stay at Villa Saphir was very pleasant! I would recommend it to everyone !!! And of course happily return again :)

This B&B is perfect for people who wants to save some money being not far from the centre and the beach... 20 min by walk from the beach and 10 from the centre of Nice. We stayed at Villa Saphir for over a week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We originally booked for 2 nights, and then were up off into the alps. However, after a change of plan, we rang to see if we could return to Nice, and fortunately there was a room available for us. Annie made us so welcome, and couldn't do enough for us. The breakfasts were different to our usual fare, but she encouraged us to try the different cheeses etc. of the region, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The villa is within very handy walking distance of the train station, #7 bus stops right outside the property, and it's only a 45min. walk to the promenade and the markets in 'old Nice.' The antiques market is on Mondays, but the general markets are other days. The colours, the goodies, the smells mmmm!!! Look for the artist 'finger painting' on little mirrors. Brilliant. Shops, cafes, patisseries, street markets are all within a 5 min. walk. So convenient. The kitchen facilities were handy. A fridge and computer for visitors was avail too. And to make it feel more like home, Bob and Leah the dogs, welcomed us. The shower/toilet facilities were a bit 'squeezy' but it wasn't an issue. We can't speak highly enough of our stay with Annie. She really went out of her way, we felt, to make our stay in Nice so enjoyable.

This establishment is a very poorly run sideline for the owner who is pretty incompetent at running a B&B. There is no reception so it's pure luck if she is there when you arrive. Our luck wasn't great and we had to wait around for her to turn up with no obvious signs for which property it is or even how to get in. Also street noise is pretty excessive making for a poor night's sleep. For the price it is definitely disappointing, avoid if possible.

The B&B is in on a main street and does not look very attractive from outside, but don't be put off! It's delightful inside. The landlady gave us a five-star welcome and a long cold drink (it was a very hot day!) and was helpful and friendly way beyond the call of duty in finding us a place to stow our heavy luggage so we didn't have to carry it up the stairs. The lady owner is very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room is very small and basic but if you are like me, not too interested in the extra stuff in a standard 3 star hotel, just want a clean room and friendly staff and good vlue for money, this is the place! I specially enjoyed the breakfast time on the balcony in the morning and talking to the lady owner who told me a few things about Nice - a nice way to discover the beautiful city's history, food and people! I'd go back there again if I was to go to Nice again. The location of the place is a bit far from the city centre if you don't like walking, but there is bus right in front of the villa and only cost 1 Euro & takes 5 mins to the centre! There is also a wonderful fruit/veg. market near the villa, if you're interested in where the local people go to buy their daily food and wouldn't mind cooking for yourself sometime during your stay! There is also free internet for guests in the villa. Prepare to pay cash at the end of your stay if you don't want to pay extra charges for credit card transaction.
