This was exactly what we had hoped for...our room was simply furnished, had a very high ceiling and it was a quiet refuge after the noise of the city. It also had a good view of Vesuvius (and private gardens as well as city buildings). Plus we had a really warm welcome and the location suited us perfectly.

Venere website indicated that there was only one room available, a triple. As a couple we were happy to book it and to pay the quoted price. However, on arrival we were told that double rooms had been available and that we should be charged that price. The owner subsequently adjusted the price to seven nights for a double room. It was not clear from the terms and conditions that the Pulcinella did not accept payment by card.Consequently a large amount of cash had to be withdrawn on the final night, which was resolved with the help of member of staff Manuela. Apart from this, we spent an enjoyable week in what amounted to a private apartment. The B & B is run in a simple, efficient way with breakfast food and drink available in the room.

The first telephone contact for having information on how to reach the hotel was excellent- good advice, availability and nice contact! When we arrived there, the person welcoming us has also been very helpful. The first night was not so good because of the noise - the next night, we could have a room on the "garden" side - this was then perfect! The situation is good - not far from the airport, very nice shops ("pasticceria") and restaurants quite close to the B&B. A big thank you to the "cameriere" who has been so helpful and nice to the whole family!

The owner posted a note to the door with his number to welcome us as we arrived late and after regular check in times. He was very nice and helpful and we got a beautiful room with a view over the city and the Vesuvio. The room is spacious, clean and neat, everything was beautiful. We had the best pizza ever just around the corner, after 8 minutes. I totally recommend this place!

The bed and breakfast is well-located with a large and clean room. The service is good but there is nobody when you get there so I think there should be somebody at reception in case yoou need something or may ask any question. The bed is ample and comfortable , the bathroom is clean too and the place is quiet

The Management was very helpful and friendly. The room was quite spacious and modern with crisp linen. In my room, however, the bed shook frequently but slightly, in the evenings - probably due to the underground railway below the building. Not sure.

Our host, Fabio, was very knowledgeable about all aspects of Naples and provided us with excellent advice about local restaurants and other businesses. He was also well acquainted with a range of places of interest in and around Naples, well beyond Pompeii and Herculaneum.

The B&B property was wonderfully clean, spacious, and had nice decor. I rested so well it was hard to get up in the morning to go sight-seeing! The windows let in a lot of light in the daytime and by night I could see fireworks over the city skyline. Fabio, the owner, HAS to be the most considerate host in Italy. He has great knowledge of the history of Naples and has prepared an extremely detailed, (to the letter) guide of the best of the sights Naples has to offer. He goes above and beyond to make sure his guests are taken care of.

Don't be put off by the look of the building outside. Inside, it's a very different story: nice lift (it's on 4th floor), nice big modern equiped rooms, marble tile floor, etc. My room is quiet. It even has a fridge, and an oven so you can cook some eggs, coffee,... The location is good: 5 minute walk from the super market, 10 minutes from metro station, 15 from the National Archeology Museum. The host, Fabio, is very friendly and useful if you need anything. Overall it's a very good B&B for my budget. I actually came back there to stay another 3 days in Naples after I left Sorrento earlier than planned because I was fed up with ugly tourist industry in Sorrento after staying there for just 2 days.

The room was quite suprisingly comfortable and a quiet oasis from the turmoil outside. The suite was accessible by a lift from a private garage. Quite a reprieve from the city of Naples. As in most European rooms the shower facilities were quite small but adequate. The owner, Fabio, spoke English and was called to meet us on arrival. He also gave us a map with directions of sites to see in Naples and the surrounding area, bus information, the name of a restaurant he recommended and a delicious box of sweets from a bakery next door. Our room was clean and well maintained. My only complaint was that region of Naples was quite dirty and the walls of most buildings were full of graffity. The traffic was hectic and people of the city were not the most friendly.

The B&B it's just ok. The owner is very kind and gave us usefull ideas for visiting Naples, and he was also very atentive. But there are things that could be improved. The breakfast is on the poor side (quality and quantity). Personally, I didn´t like the "style" of our room, not cossy at all. It looks much more like a kitchen than a room.

It was the bed and breakfast which I was able to spend comfortably. The owner is kind. I taught how to get on guidebook / delicious restaurant buses from an owner. The room is clean, and cleaning is performed neatly. I want to stay once again. If a Japanese stays, the English conversation is necessary.

We are a mature couple, well handled by the Pulcinella. When the owner couldn't greet us, he sent his mother who was an English speaker and very competent and friendly. Even the housekeeper bent over backwards to communicate and make sure we knew how to comport ourselves in Naples (especially the safety aspect). Maps, internet access, information gathering in general was easy and almost instantly available. The rooms are quiet, comfortable and very clean. A great experience

We stayed in May 08 for 2 nights and had a great stay at B&B Pulcinella. Fabio was fabulous, a truly welcoming host and a gentleman overall. My wife had an ankle injury (prior to stay) and he went out of the way to make out stay very comfortable. Turns out he's a physiotherapist and gave us some great tips, pointed out the pharmacies etc. Helped us find a good taxi service to the airport that had a fixed price. He truly cares about the Napoli and passionately presented the city and its attractions. Unfortunately we couldn't visit any. Maybe next time. A big thanks to Fabio (belated, but better late than never)

The room(vesuvio) was at least twice the size we had on other B&B. The breakfast is exactly as in the picture, so you know what you get, although its not the breakfast you dream about...but with the fridge you can buy something to make it better. Naples was not so dirty as we expected, so it was a pleasent stay we had in the city.

Our experience at Pulcinella was simply "Fabio-luos!" Our host, Fabio, runs a fantastic little B & B in a great location in Napoli. The spacious rooms were truly a haven of comfort, quiet in a city with more treasures than one can imagine but also with a vibrancy that can be overwhelming. My fiancee and I felt comfortable, safe everywhere we went, We greatly appreciated Pucinella's perfect spot: close enough to the Napoli Centrale train station (access to Pompei, Herculaneum), the Centro Storico/Antico, Museo Nazionale, bus and metro lines, taxi stands, amazing restaurants, great shopping, ATMs, and the heart of Napoli! It felt like home. Highly recommended to all!

Rave reviews for Pulcinella!!! my stay there was the surprising high point in Napoli, a serene refuge in a crazy city. The rooms are gigantic, nicely furnished and enormous bed, kitchen area, cooking facilities, great shower, heat, breakfast and very nice and thoughtful staff, especially Fabio!! Felt more like an apartment than a generic hotel room, many quaint and welcoming touches.Area surrounding is very safe across from Botanical gardens.

The owner Fabio was very welcoming. We received clear instructions regarding how to get there, He also provided excellent information about Naples in general, the do's and dont's. The outside of the building was not welcoming at all (dark and dirty) and the multiple locks were kind of frightning but once inside the B&B, it was perfect. Very clean and very quiet. Breakfast was available in the room.

What a breath of Fresh air when we got to this hotel. We didn't know what to expect when we got to Naples, but we found a city with lots of charm and a room with exceptional service. A very comfortable stay in a nice area, with a good restaurant just in front and a nice view on the busy street from the balcony. There are two things that can be useful for other guests. When we wanted to take something out of our car on sundaymorning around ten o'clock, the garage was closed and there was nobody in the hotel. When we returned in the hotel after visiting the museum, the friendly young woman from the day before was there and could reach eventually, after several telephone calls, someone to open the garage. Because we wanted to leave early mondaymorning, we paid her then because she would not be there before nine. And when we left mondaymorning, leaving the keys on the receptiondesk, we could not open the door downstairs. We thought. Luckily pretty soon a man who lives in the building came down and told us to press the button left to the door.

Pulcinella is the best place to stay in Napoli, you can get a wrong idea when you arrive to the entrance but when you get into the "hotel" everything change.Rooms have a 4 stars hotel status and all the facilities of a B&B.The hotel is very well situated just some minutes walking from most of Napoli best atractions. That's without any kind of doubt the best B&B we have neen in our travel arround all Italy.

Very nice bed and breakfast, highly recommended. 90 Euros for two rooms, four persons, off-season (nov 2005). The BB is located on the fourth floor, elevator, five or six rooms (2-4 persons) with a small reception. The rooms are quite big and the whole place is newly renovated, with pleasant colours and decoration. Every room has new confortable beds, TV ( bad italian-only programs), air-condition (not used in november), renovated toilet/shower and new basic kitchen equipment. Breakfast is simple but convenient. Everything is fresh and new. The owner communicated with us through e-mail and due to airline delays we arrived at midnight, the owner let us in after a cell-phone call and five minutes wait. The BB is located in (the outside of) the city centre. We walked to museums and shopping area. In the same block there is a small food shop and cafes and restaurants. The house is a big anonymous dirty house along a major city street with rather heavy traffic, opposite the botanic garden. The owner took us to a friends restaurant, opposite the street, in the block behind the gas station, type: "a hole in the wall", with tasty italian food, cheap prices, local guests and friendly atmosphere.

A hidden palace. It didn't look like much from the outside (we were dreading what we would find), but the rooms were fantastic (big, clean, modern etc). The only point to note is that there isn't always someone there, so you need to foreworn of your expected time of arrival.

Excellent location, rooms and welcome from Fabio, the proprietor. We would stay here again as it is very convenient for Naples centre with the wonderful Botanical Gardens just across the street and a very good restaurant, which Fabio recommended. Fabio is a very good and solicitous source of information. We had a view of Vesuvius from our apartment and a very interesting nineteenth century garden beneath us.The apartment was quiet and air conditioned, clean, spacious and newly appointed. Pulcinella was beyond our expectations. the owner, fabio, was on hand to welcome us when we arrived and offered us useful tourist info about naples. our breakfast was substantial, and there were two affordable restaurants nearby, along with a grocery store, a pastry shop, and a cheese shop. the room (a triple) was spacious and well decorated, with a great view of the botanical gardens. the noise level was moderate, mostly due to the traffic below us, and when a metro would pass beneath the hotel, we could feel the vibrations. but no complaints, would definitely stay there again.

In the midth of June we had a very pleasant stay at the Pulcinella. Fabio is very friendly and helpful (I found a book about Pompeji, but thanks a lot once more). His advice and tips are great (for example: the restaurant across the street and "Napoli underground"). The room was clean, modern and comfortable. We enjoyed the view on Vesuvio and fireworks at night and having breakfast at a time we wanted to. Next time Napoli will be next time Pulcinella. M & J

How to reach Pulcinella Bed and Breakfast
By carFor guest arriving by car, the structure is easy to reach in about 20 minutes from the pay toll house. Take the tangenziale ring road and follow the indications to Napoli centro. Exit the ring road either at Corso Malta or at the Doganella.
From Corso Malta, after the pay toll house, proceed for about 200 metres and then take the first street on the right, following the directions to via Foria and to piazza Carlo III. When you reach the square, turn left and proceed along the Albergo dei Poveri (a majestic building being redecorated, also known as Palazzo Fuga) and afterwards along the Royal Botanical Garden. The property is located opposite the main road, and we advice you to park your car and cross the street on foot. We are at number 216 in via Foria, just opposite the Botanical Garden entrance and next to the Tarallificio Leopoldo bakery shop. At the entry phone dial 1016 and press C.
From the Doganella, after the pay toll house, proceed towards the right for about 2 km. At the end of via Don Bosco you will be in piazza Carlo III. Proceed along the Albergo dei Poveri and then along the Royal Botanical Garden.
By train
The structure lies 3 km from the Napoli Centrale railway station, and is best reached by taxi, directly from piazza Garibaldi. You can also reach the B&B by bus or by underground, in about 15 minutes.
Take the underground line 2 and get off at piazza Cavour. The B&B is located about 200 metres from the underground station, and can be easily reached either on foot or by one of the several bus lines available (for example bus numbers 201, 47 or 182) to the Royal Botanical Garden. Get off in via Foria, at the Botanical Garden stop. The property is just behind the bus stop.
Alternatively, take bus number 201 directly from piazza Garibaldi and get off in via Foria, near the Botanical Garden entrance. Cross the street and walk down the road for about 20 metres.
By airplane
The Napoli Capodichino airport is about 7 km from the B&B. You can easily reach the structure by taxi in approximately 30 minutes. From the airport you can also take the ALIBUS shuttle bus to the Napoli Centrale railway station, and then follw the above-said directions. Otherwise take one of the several bus lines available, for example numbers 35, 25 or 15, and get off at piazza Carlo III. From there you can reach the structure either on foot or by bus number 201 to the Botanical Garden entrance.
By boat
The molo Beverello (Naples' main harbour) lies about 2 km from the property. You can take one of the several bus lines available from piazza Municipio, for example bus number 201, and get off in via Foria, next to the Botanical Garden entrance. Otherwise, take a taxi directly from the port.
Distances from Bed and Breakfast Pulcinella
The property is only a five minutes walk from the Convention Centre and the business district, within short distance of the National Archaeological Museum and the underground station, by which you can reach Mergellina harbour (hydrofoils for Capri, Ischia and Procida), the seafront, and the circumvesuviana to Ercolano, Pompei, Sorrento and to the Vesuvius National Park.
