We had a nice room with a view of Montepulciano. The room was spacious enough, no airco but it was ok. Larg enough bathroom, bed (mattress) was not so comfortable. In the morning we had a simple breakfast. By car it was very easy to reach the city centre. In the evening we parked at the last parking up the hill and had a great dinner at the first restaurant on the corner. They serve fresh seafood on friday, saturday and sunday !

The B&B in very small, I think there may have been 4 or 5 rooms. It was a husband and wife that were very nice and friendly but little english. The B&B is about 5-7 minute drive into town. Very quiet at night. On the property were olive trees and vines for wine. Quiet and simple.

Absolutely lovely. A short drive to Montepulciano and lovely views over the town from our balcony.

This is one of the best B&B where I have been so far. Perfectly clean, spacious, very kind people, superb breakfast. From there, you can get in few minutes to Montepulciano and in a little more than 10 minutes to Chianciano. A smart choice if you want to stay at the Thermal Baths, or just enjoy the beauty of the Tuscany, or both as we did. Highly recommended.

It is a family run b&b with new well equiped and clen rooms. Il Girasole is located 3 km from Montepulciano, so you need to have a car to get there. We had difficulties to understand the owner until her doughter came, who spoke English. Our room had a tarace with a nice view on Montepulciano. I think it is a good place for short stay. As it is not located centrally, I wouldn't stay there longer than 1-2 nights. Becouse we had to left this b&b before breakfast, I cannot say anything about it.

Very much enjoyed our stay at Il Girasole, which is very well suited as a base for touristing around Tuscany. The location itself is quite stunning. It is surrounded by farmland (vineyards, sunflowers, fruit trees), and has a perfect view of Montepulciano. Breakfast was great, with fresh fruit and vegetables (in addition to the usual fare, they include my favorite breakfast of tomatoes, toast, and olive oil, and excellent coffee and whole-fruit pastries). Finding the place can be a challenge. We arrived late at night and some locals helped us locate the place. The thing to know is that Il Girasole lies off on the road between Montepulciano and Pienza, about 2 km outside of Montepulciano. Driving out of Montepulciano towards Pienza, keep an eye out for the Il Girasole sign on the left side of the road. To get to the property take a left at the sign onto a dirt road, for about 0.5 km.

This farm house was close enough to explore the town but still was very rural (and quiet). I was enchanted with the apartment which was both spacious and welcoming. The owners were helpful and very linguistically innovative for we non-Italian speakers.

Alba & Claudio were warm & gracious hosts. Our hostess only spoke Italian which added to the charm of our visit. Although we had some challenges with the languages we would persevere and laugh with Alba and find our requested locations. Her morning breakfast was delicious and the Cappucinno was great. The view from our clean and comfortable room was wonderful. We would definitely return, as it was good value for our money.

This was a very quaint B&B, owners were nice (did not speak English, which was ok since I spoke Italian), and the location was just off the main road. We fortunately stumbled across its location while driving into Montepulciano from the backside. If we tried going into the actual town, we would have never have found this place. It needs to be clearly pointed out that this B&B is outside of the main town, and right off of the main road. It's also located at the end of a dirt driveway (not paved), but it's still accessible by small cars. The rooms are pretty spacious and clean. We had to leave before breakfast, so we can not give a review on how the breakfast was, but the area is very quiet and beautiful. I would recommend this B&B to others based on the short stay we had and we would return.

Camera spaziosa, bagno spazioso, pulito e nuovo, dintorni bellissimi. Il BB è quasi a bordo strada, ma silenziosissimo. I proprietari sono stati molto gentili, la colazione ottima ed abbondante. Hanno accolto senza problemi la nostra cagnolina.

Stayed here Sept. 2007. Exactly as represented in websites and other travelers' reviews. Would definitely stay here again. Only drawback of not staying in town is that you have to drive to get everywhere, including dinner. But maybe that is not a drawback with all the tourists at this time of year. Montepulciano is mere minutes away. Il Girasole was not fancy but very nice place -we had a standard double which was a large room with separate bath and balcony looking at Montepulciano. Nice lady owner who didn't appear to speak much English, but it didn't matter. (They live in part of 1st floor in separate section.) Good breakfast spread with pastries, yogurt, muesli, cheese, meat and whatever coffee products you want to drink (included in room price). I am a very light sleeper but no problems as other guests were quiet and bed was quite comfortable. Walls were a little thin if you had a noisy neighbor, but, again, the guests who stayed there were on the same hours we were. Just off main road to Pienza but far enough off so that there were no road noise issues. Road to Pienza is beautiful and Pienza itself is a nice town to visit. Montepulciano was a little too touristy for us this visit.

We enjoyed every minute of our 5 days here. Even though our hosts spoke no English and we speak no Italian, we communicated OK on the essentials, and in fact felt very warmly welcomed. The rooms are very spacious, and the whole place was clearly purpose-built as a B&B quite recently. It is in rural land just outside Montepulciano, one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Tuscany. The breakfast (included in the price) was the most substantial and delicious, including lots of home-cooking. They don't take credit cards, so you'll need some cash. Our stay here was the highlight of our 4 weeks all over Europe.

This was a great home base for driving through Tuscany to the different hilltowns. Down the road is the Terme/Spa of Montepulciano and in the direction towards Pienza, an excellent roadside store for authentic Pecorino. The hosts were very nice and cordial. One day during our stay, they were bringing in the grape harvest for winemaking. Seeing all those grapes was gorgeous.

It's a magnificient country house. Not an hotel. The owners (that's the only staff) doesn't speak english at all but it doesn't matter. A good place to stay near Montepulciano (but it could be very boring for more than two days). And you can't reach it without a car.

Good choice.A house family converted in a B&B,recently opened and well designed. No air conditioning in the room, but no necessary in spite the warm weather. Basic breakfast, that can be improved adding some ham and cheese. No good and enough signals to reach the hotel. It will be necessary to add an additional signal.

The only sub-optimal thing about our stay was the fact that we only stayed overnight. The surrounding area is absolutely fabulous, and very central to explore the bulk of Tuscany really. The property is more or less on a farm, which was slightly misleading in finding it. A map would've been very helpful. Although the hosts can't speak a word of English, they were very helpful and we did manage to communicate well enough.

We got really excited as we pulled into the Il Girasole lot, because the surroundings could not have been more picturesque. Unfortunately, the service did not really match the surroundings. Our hosts spoke almost no English, and the warm interaction one would expect at a country bed & breakfast was really absent. From the beginning, we were confused as to our expectations for the experience. After playing a few games of charades trying to communicate with the sweet (but non parla inglese) old man who ran the place, we learned about breakfast et al. Breakfast was lacking and we felt as if they weren't even expecting guests. The room was beautiful and large, and the view from the enormous balcony was spectacular, but being so removed from the towns of Montepulciano and Pienza, we expected a little more interaction from the hosts. Also lacking was air conditioning, which would have been nice considering the mid-nineties heat. All in all, we probably could have done better elsewhere, but had a very pleasant stay nonetheless and left happy.

This bed and breakfast was easy to find - right on the highway, just outside of Montepulciano. The building seemed to be new. It could use some carpets in the common areas to absorb the sound, but otherwise, the rooms and bathrooms were first class and the views out every window were spectacular. The hosts were a very sweet elderly Italian couple. They spoke no English but we managed to communicate with the little Italian we knew. I would definite recommend Il Girasole.

Il Girasole was a wonderful place to stay for a night or two near Montepulciano. A wonedrful place for a Tuscan sunset. The owners were very welcoming and pleasant. We would recommend it to anyone with a few days to spend in the area.

We had a very nice stay at Il Girasole. We got a large romm with a nice balcony. It is also a public terrace. The older couple that runs the place are very nice people, warm and welcoming. The surroundings are quite "countryside" so it was great sitting out at night looking at the stars listening to the animals(dont´t know the name og the animal that looks like at grasshopper, bit is bigger) in the trees. It is about half an hour if you would like to walk to Montepulciano historic centre, mostly because it is quite steep. If you go by car it will only be about five minutes. We can warmly reccimend a stay at Il Girasole any time!

The directions are weak -- the sign for the property sits parallel to the road and is easily missed. We spent twenty minutes finding the place even though it is on a main road. This is my only complaint. The property is clean and well managed with very comfortable beds. I would stay here again.

1. Difficult to find - road sign poorly placed. 2. Booking was for an appartment with kitchen but since building was incomplete were given a room with twin beds. 3. No English spoken 4. Refused to allow us to use the phone dispite our having a phone card. 5. Unfortunately kitchen was kept locked - would have liked to be able to prepare sandwiches, make coffee etc. 6. Minimal breakfast - breads, yogurt, juice & one cup of coffee. No cereal, ham or cheese, or fruit. 7. Credit cards not accepted.

I thought Il Girasole was wonderful!! It was located just outside of the old city, and had a lot of charm. The accommodations were beautiful, and the staff extremely warm and welcoming. I would have expected the room rate to be much higher. I highly recommend Il Girasole to anyone, and plan on staying here again my next time to Montepulciano.
