Pulled into Marseille on an aircraft carrier, was looking for something other than the typical hotel stay and found this b&b online. As frequent visitor of b&b's across the world, this was just what we were looking for. felt like we were staying in an old spaghetti western. nice rooms, nice pool out back, sat and sipped wine and read a book. much more personality that the typical hotel. there was the slight language barrier, but either we figured things out or another dual language guest would help us out. i would stay here again if i ever come back.

What an awesome place to stay. Homely and clean it felt like I'd just walked out of the Three Musketeers book, more like a home with rooms than a hotel. The jacuzzi is a winner and the cedar wood stairs and doors make the place smell devine! Unfortunaly Paul and Helene speak almost no English which means you miss out on the informal breakfast conversation. Take a good guide book and don't be tempted to only use the Metro to get around (which is very close by) as you'll miss out on the feel of the city.

Marketing material about this hotel was inaccurate. We arrived at 7pm and found the front door locked. We had to call the telephone number 3 times before someone answered. It took us 15 minutes to be let in!! No parking facility. You can't even park the car at the front door to unload luggage - it is a narrow one way street and a single vehicle can completely block the road. Once inside, we had to carry suitcases up a spiral staircase. The hotel is very old. There was no aircon which made it very uncomfortable (during the summer months). No elevator access. Rooms are very noisy (street traffic) making it virtually impossible to sleep at night. Beware that the proprietor and manager don't speak a word of English!! There was no support staff visible, seems like one person does all. Choice of breakfast items was poor. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We arrived late and it worked very well with a code and keys in the door. Early start with very friendly and kind man who served us a lovely breakfast in the "country kitchen". Really cosy place.

My wife and I stayed here and had a great experience. The room was amazing, clean and comfortable. The fig jam with tartines in the morning I will remember forever! If we could have stayed in Marseille longer, we would have because of this chambre d'hôte. Can't say enough good things. The only downside was the neighborhood was a little gritty, but hey, that's Marseille.

Marseille is an old port city and many neighborhoods seem to reflect that. There were a couple of homeless people around the hotel, but they did not bother or belligerent in any way. As far as the hotel is concerned, the rooms are great and the pics are true. When we were there (Oct. 08) construction was going on at the rear of the house, but there was no noise factor. We informed the owner that we would be at the house at 9pm, because there is no one there after 7pm, but the owner was not there to receive. We had to call and she arrived within 10 minutes. Great overall experience.

The hotel was so noisy I did not sleep a wink, plus the heat (normal in Marseille, but NO airco, and impossible to leave windows open). I would never ever go back - plus the owner of the B&B was hardly friendly... and not home upon arrival!

This is a newly established hotel, with some renovation work still being done to what looks an exterior public area. Nonetheless we were not at all bothered by the work. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms and the service provided. The photos on this site are very accurate! The whole thing has a real rustic feel. Beware there is no AC though and we went in August! The lady who runs the hotel is lovely (she stayed up til 12am to greet us and check us in!) but only speaks French so at some points we were a little "lost in translation" but this wasn't too much of an issue. Would definitely recommend a stay here!
