The Camino Real Machu Picchu has potential. I liked the location because of the easy access to everything that Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes) has to offer, yet far enough from the loud crowds. The young fellow who registered me was friendly and welcoming. He showed me a couple of rooms. I opted for the one by the rumbling and energetic river. The view IS breathtaking! I thought that that would take care of whatever was missing (atmosphere, cleanliness and light). After checking in and bringing in my stuff upstairs, I noticed a HUGE puddle of water by the bathroom door. When I questioned the fellow about it he said that the "cleaning person" had probably spilled water from her pail and forgot to mop it. I told the fellow that I had a feeling that water was spilling from somewhere in the bathroom. But I noticed no water spill on the bathroom floor, so I took his word for it. He left my room and came back with a dirty rag to mop up the floor and walked away leaving the rag in a particular place near the bathroom floor. I went for a walk into town and when I came back I noticed more water on the floor. I needed to urinate and when I finished, naturally, I flushed. But there was no water in the tank. I told the guy about it. He mopped the new spill with the same rag and pretended to be doing something in the bathroom. Then he said: "ok I have fixed the problem" and left the wet dingy rag in the same place. Later in the day I went to the bathroom to throw some rubbish away. Grabbed the only garbage can in the room thew out the junk and left. Later I go back to throw more stuff away and decided to see if there was an actual leakage coming out of the toilet, and YES, there was. I went back to same guy and told him. He came back up to my room with something that look like tools, but I really wasn't paying attention. Then he took one of my room towels and mopped up the new spill. This time he took the old dirty room but left the towel instead. In the morning, I went to
