Bed and Breakfast Sogni D'oro - Lucca
Via Cantore 169 - Lucca
877-662-6988Lying just a few minutes from the walled city centre and only 300m from the railway station, it is an ideal holiday base for Tuscany and central Italy. The guesthouse has a private entrance and a secure garage which can be used to store bicycles (which are available for rent) or a limited number of motorbikes. The guesthouse accommodation at Sogni d'Oro occupies part of a building just outside Lucca's walled centre. The accommodation is within easy walking distance of the city's attractions, with the added advantage of convenient, free parking and a nearby supermarket. The railway is also in easy walking distance.
The cleaning was not ok. shower in bathroom did not work. The kitchen needed cleaning.

Wonderful value , you can stay near the expensive city center for a cheap price , specially by using the kitchen equipment with the accomodation of the neighbour supermarket

A very basic accommodation, ideal for short stay only. Just outside the city walls, only a short walk to the centre. No air-condition in the room, the shared kitchen is poorly equipped and dirty. Room and bathroom quite clean.

I spent only one night here. It's not bad but I wouldn't recommend it. Although you can see a double bed in the picture, we were given a twin room. The bathroom was tiny and a little old; but the worst is that the breakfast is not included!!! (in spite of being a bed&BREAKFAST!). You have the possibility of using the kitchen, but that should be appart from the breakfast. The situation is quite good though!

Good location to reach city center on foot (around 1km). Parking just outside on a super-market parking area (free). Very quiet neighborhood (although this could be cause we stayed there at the end of July). Good value for money, esp. if you are traveling by car. No breakfast provided, but we didn't care much for that.

I had understood that this was a bed & Breakfast, but it turned out to be just bed, and self catering. It would have been better to know that in advance. There was a supermarket just a short walk away, and they had a kitchen available for self catering. The two brothers running the place were both friendly and welcoming, and fairly laid back. The accomodation was basic, but clean and adequate. They threw in clean towels and parking was free.

The hotel is small and quite clean, about 15 min walk from the centre of Lucca. The advantage is having the kitchen where you can cook, and a big super market just next to the hotel. We stayed in a double room with private bathroom, which was teeny-tiny, but, well, we only spent there one night.

The "welcome" was a sign on the front door telling us to contact a mobile phone number and the owner would come to the property. This was a problem without a mobile phone ourselves. There was NO breakfast even though the accommodation was advertised as "Bed and Breakfast". There was a kitchen where one could make one's own breakfast. There were quite a few stairs to climb to the rooms.

The reason for choosing this B&B was the price, since we spent in Lucca only one night. I would not recommend "Sogni D'oro" for a longer stay: poor cleanliness of the shared bathroom may bother you. However, it is fine for a one-night stay: great location, low price (we payed 50 Eur), spacious room.

Well, there were meant to be bikes for rent and also a swimming pool - none of it was actually there. also there was a terrible smell coming from the bathroom and the kitchen was not nice either. plus side: you get free transfer at date of leave to bus station.

This was my first time at Sogni D'Oro; I don't recommend it at all, prices are similar to other b&b but accomodation is poor in quality: noisy house, not clean, too promiscuity, no breakfast, no telephone. There is a dirty kitchen available to guests.

The apartments are not inside the city walls, but are within easy walking distance. There is a supermarket next door which is very convenient seeing as the apartments have a (basic) kitchen where you can cook your own food. The owner was extremely helpful in providing us with various information (eg the best train connections to the next places we were visiting) and even dropped us off at the train station at the end of our stay.

The place is in a convenient location for exploring Lucca. Overall it is a cheap no-frills place to stay. There is no breakfast provided (but a supermarket is next door). It's worth doing the audio-tour of Lucca, available from the tourist office.

We were very pleased with our accommodations at Sogni D'oro. Our host was helpful in many ways. The restaurants he suggested were excellent and his explainations were helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and attractive. The kitchen facilities more than adequate. People we met at the residence were respectful and interesting to talk to. We would return to Sogni D'oro in a heartbeat, whenever we are able to return to Lucca.

We were very pleasantly surprised with the Sogni D'Oro. The room was larger than expected and had a large balcony with a pleasant view of the mountains. There was no sign of the bad smell mentioned in other reviews and everything was spotlessly clean throughout our 5 day stay. Value for money was excellent and the location was ideal for both the train station and the centre of Lucca, which was delightful. The owners were very helpful and courteous. Would definitely reccomend both Lucca and the Sogni D'Oro for restful break.

A perfect place to stay while visiting Lucca and Tuscany. Its on a quiet street and an easy walk to Lucca's wall. The nearby grocery store and other shops made it easy to get what ever we needed. David and Fabio were great hosts and helped us in some way every day. The shared kitchen was very convenient and a great way to meet many of the other interesting guests. Overall, Sogni D'oro was a good value and a wonderful experience.

This was a sweet place, run by a very nice family. It isn't fancy (but is clean and tastefully decorated) and breakfast is not provided but there is a grocery store nearby and guests are welcome to use the kitchen to cook and eat. David drove us to the train station the next morning which was very nice since the walkway to the station is gravelled and pulling our wheeled suitcases from the station to the house was a little difficult. David and his family do not live on the premises, however his cell phone number is given to the guests in case there is need.

I would definately recommend Sogni d'oro to anyone visiting Lucca. The owners were very friendly and spoke excellent English and the room was spacious and clean. The only slight problem was the en suite smelt of sewage for most of our stay, although it was very clean.

Sogni D'oro calls itself a Bed & Breakfast yet there is no breakfast. The biggest problem however was the plumbing. There was a sewer stench from all fixtures in the bathroom, that no air fresheners could eliminate. The room was very sparsely furnished, no tv or radio. Way overpriced for this type of room.

We enjoyed our stay there. The hosts were very friendly - well english spoken - and gave us good suggestions for our stay (what to do and where to eat). There's a supermarket around the corner. Unfortunately you can't rent bikes at the hostel any more, but it is possible at the tourist information in the town which is closed by.

I am very satisfied with my stay in Italy. What I am not that satisfied with, was the noise saturday morning (I think other guests)from around 7 a.m. to around 10... We also didn`t know how to pay, nobody told us and nobody was there when we were leaving, so we had to put money and keys in the postbox... Thank you...
